On the outside, our life looks perfect. Inside, I’m screaming.

I suffer from severe and profound OCD, triggered by a trauma I survived when I was a young girl. My husband saved me. I crave order, because chaos stirs the messy parts of my mind I’d rather keep tied down.

But when my husband’s ex-lover shows up unannounced–a man I had no idea existed from a secret part of my husband’s past he kept hidden from me–tension unfolds and our perfect life starts to unravel.

My compulsions come out to play. Only, our house guest isn’t like my tolerant husband. He doesn’t ask for control. He takes it.

And I surrender to this stranger’s will, because the twisted parts of me have become so rigid I sense my perfect life is about to break, and choosing to break seems the only choice left within my control.

Why is this not a bestseller? The writing is visceral and well-honed, the characters are multidimensional, and the plot unfolds as an emotional and mental discovery.

This sensual and character-driven menage features an OCD heroine and her unconventional path to recovery. The male protags are devastatingly desirable. If the sexy scenes don't soak your panties, you might not have a functioning libido. It's erotic, but so much more than a thrust-and-grind story. The manner and depth in which the heroine's mental health is shown is a perfect juxtaposition. She self-medicates to ease those she loves while they are selfless in their attempts to heal her.

Mason and Sean balance each other out, between heart-in-throat sensitivity and DIY rough handling, and the fact that their methods quiver on the right side of authenticity ranks it as a brilliant success.

For me this was the perfect MFM menage story.
description

It was so freaking hot in places that it was almost impossible to read - my temperature went through the roof at 48% when my heart was beating out of my chest!!
It was a completely visceral moment for me.

I’ve read that chapter 4 times now and it’s absolute

I'll be honest, I didn’t know who Lydia Michaels was before this,
but my God I’m a fan now.

Such a beautifully smooth descriptive writing style and the depth of detail regarding Liberty’s OCD as it played out moment by moment was a joy to read.

Seriously friends, there's a new Menage Queen in town...

I'm really looking forward to more from this author.

5 Compulsively HOT Stars!

Let's just say this is one of the hottest books I've read in some time. I had to take a few breaks just to collect myself along the way and even found myself re-reading a few particular scenes before moving onto the next one.

The story...
Mason & Liberty have been married for five years, they live in a perfect house and Liberty has a compulsive to be the perfect...well, everything. Suffering from an OCD disorder that stems from years of abuse, Mason has learned over the years how to provide the perfect order to his wife's life to keep her from tilting over the edge. But his focus on her issues left little room for him to really ever share his past with her. When an old college friend shows up out of the blue, Mason is having to fend off feelings from an old flame that walked away from him thirteen years ago.

Sean isn't sure what he wanted to find when he knocked on Mason's door. He knew that part of him wanted to see the man that he loved again, but he never expected to feel a sudden protectiveness towards the woman that stole the heart he yearned for. Liberty has been longing for a little more from her husband but shame has forced her not to voice her desires, but Mason senses a slight shift in her behavior and is finally ready to start pushing her boundaries. With Sean in their lives for the time being and all finding each other attracted to each other, those boundaries are far beyond anything Liberty ever expected, but she's finding they are everything she's ever desired.

Two words... CHAPTER EIGHT.

Part of me was concerned that as this story developed that the aspect of dishonesty was going to be an issue. Mason loved his wife, she was his world. But part of his heart belonged to Sean. Stolen looks and a few uneasy moments made you wonder if these two were going to be able to keep from ripping of each other's clothes. Then the dynamic of Sean and Liberty, her natural tendency towards submission left her easy prey. The instant connection that Sean felt with her, originally felt like it was going to be because she had what he loved, but that was not the case. It was just too hard not to love this girl, even broken she was perfect.

The Characters...

Liberty. There was a particular moment where her disorder showed itself at around 10% in. Prior you noted the need for order and repetition, but the breakdown at 10% left me reeling. Lydia Michaels did an amazing job constructing this scene. I felt every word. I was nearly in tears from feeling completely overwhelmed. And that feeling, that is one of the best feelings you can have while reading a book. She was endearing and even though the initial introduction to her was methodical, she was warm.

Mason. I don't know if I've come across a more loving husband in a book. She was his everything, his purpose. He stood by her when she was at her weakest, not just to care for her - but to show her how to be strong. He was dominant, he knew she needed someone to take away control. He knew how to read her moods and how to love her in the perfect way. He was also far more giving of a husband than I would have expected, letting another man touch his wife, even though he loved him as well - he put Liberty's needs and pleasure first. Willing to let a part of his heart break should he ever have to choose, because she was always going to be first.

Sean. Dominant and damaged, just how I like'em. For years Sean allowed his father to destroy his life. He had two good years with a man, the only man, he could ever be with - could ever love. But the need to please him and the concern of becoming him led him to the biggest regret of his life. He was an instant favorite, easy to connect with and the way he was drawn to both Mason & Liberty was breathtaking. Unwilling to risk his heart for real love for so many years, he finally has his chance to hold it within his hands, it is just not in the conventional way he imagined. He loved Mason and falling in love with Liberty was something he could not avoid.

This genre is something that I've dipped my toes into but not yet fully submerged myself in. With every book I wonder why the hesitation? Although this was a menage romance, there were some solo m/m scenes laced throughout the story. But this isn't just a hot and sexy read about three willing people. The fact that Mason and Liberty are married throws a bit of a twist into the story, since there was an already established relationship. Sean's addition to their happy family was perfect. They were happy with just each other, but Sean added something for both of them that they were missing.

They writing style when it came to the parts told by Liberty's point of view were perfectly detailed so that you felt her disorder fully. And we get the shifting points of view throughout the story, which is always a plus. This was a wonderfully erotic and sensual read that was a stand alone and a very unconventional version of a happily ever after. I highly recommend this book to anyone who already enjoys this genre, who wants a great story to go along with the sex and for those who, like me are still just trying this genre on for size - it is worth the read.

*Thank you to Valentine PR & the author for an audio copy for review.*

So I just did a reread of this for about the 5th time. The book is on audio for the first time and I was blessed enough to be asked to listen and review the audio.

This story has stuck in my mind since I first read it in 2018. It was one of the first MMF romances I ever read and it moved me so much. We have a married couple you has been perfectly content in their routine. Even though our heroine Liberty has severe OCD, her and her husband, Mason, are able to cope and get along just fine.

Things are just starting to change and evolve for them when Mason's ex-partner, Sean comes to town after losing his father. He didn't know the man he loved was married to a woman, let alone this odd but gorgeous goddess.

What follows is a beautiful story of learning who we really are, giving up control, and trusting ourselves to people who love us. I am always stunned by the trust and growth in these characters and this time was no different.

However, since I was reviewing the audio this time.. I have to be honest that I did not mesh with the performance of the narrator for this one.. It was stilted and awkward at many times. I was constantly adjusting the speed to try and settle in and it was a rough go. Once I got about halfway through... I actually had to put down the audio and pick up my paper copy to finish my reread in peace.

I stand by loving this story with all my heart, but as an audio lover... this was not for me.

This SHOULD really have more Ratings!

It was really Hawwt, hawwt. I couldn't put it down for just one moment. Amazing.

My favorite of the trio was Sean, of course. So tormented. Mase was OK , too. I couldn't connect with Libby, though. She was nice, had her demons to fight, but I could not get into her. She was not so deep as a character.

That is the only thing that didn't bode well with me, also some situations that could have been a trio instead of a duo, conflict of interest and everything.

Everyone MUST read this book!!

I didn't want to initially rate this cause MFM romances aren't my thing, but now that I've read many more and I've enjoyed them, I disliked this one more. For smut purposes, it's a 5 star book. But unfortunately, I hated how much Mason and Sean did behind Libby's back.

Liberty and Mason have been married for 5 years, and the other H is Mason's ex boyfriend Sean.

I have read MFM smut before, but it was always short and purely for Smutty reasons which I enjoyed a lot. I took a risk and went to something new, a MFM love story but it didn't work.

I loved Mason's devotion to the h. But it contrasted with his lies and 'cheating' (I'll explain why I thought it was cheating)

I felt that the h was treated extremely unfairly. She went into this not knowing the history between the H's. I knew this was gonna be a dramatic point, but what I hated is some parts felt like cheating to me. The first time Sean and Mason kiss, when they have sex (but they stop cause Sean feels guilty for doing that behind Libby's back cause she doesn't know about them yet). At this point, they have all been together. There's been honesty between all and Liberty truly is happy with both of them. I hated that behind her back, Sean and Mason not only kissed, but did HJs and had sex and didn't finish cause they decided they should discuss their past and future with Libby.

It was cheating to me because Libby had no clue about Mason and Sean. And prior to this, all sex scenes were consensual and between all three of them. Libby didn't know about these secret sexy times between Mason and Sean. As much as Masons POV make him sound extremely sweet, I call BS. He treated Libby extremely unfairly and let himself cheat on her in her own house.

It felt like cheating because besides those parts, everyone was honest and doing sexual stuff together.

Libby said something like "had I known he was your ex I wouldn't have accepted" or so. She had the right to know, but whatever. I didn't like the parts I felt like Mason was cheating with Sean. I also hated how forgiving she was towards Mason! I felt so bad every time he was behind her back :(

That being said, I am a minor view on this. This book really does try to give equal love between all three and it was very nice and romantic seeing them become all in one relationship. Libby and Sean fall inlove with one another as well. In the end, I just didn't believe it. I really felt Sean's love for Libby which was good.

But in the end, I didn't like the feelings I got when I felt like there was cheating and so those sex scenes weren't pleasurable for me. I also think Libby should've been a lot angrier at Mason. A LOT angrier. When he says "I never cheated on you" she says "I just saw you!" And he says "that shouldn't have happened".

They have a short convo where she says she's not good enough. Mason tells her they're one and says romantic Bs then says he'll tell Sean to leave where Libby convinces him they can all be together happy.

No, I wanted Libby to say something like you cheated and it's NOT okay. I wanted her to threaten to leave cause it truly was cheating in the end ...

It was unrealistic how Libby's like "my husband is also inlove with Sean. Behind my back he's been with Sean but it's okay. Let's all be together!"

This may be one of my top ten reads of the entire year based on it being OFF THE CHARTS HOT! This book should come with a warning: READING MAY CAUSE PANTIES TO CATCH FIRE AND BURN.

“You like that idea, don’t you baby? Being completely helpless and under my command. That turns me on, the idea of having you naked and at my disposal to play with, tease, fuck, and titillate. We could make it a game. How many times can two men make a woman come in one evening? I bet if we brought home some of these toys we’d really have a good time. What do you say, Liberty? Do you want to submit to two men and see how many times and how hard we can make you come?”

So true story. Yesterday I was thinking I was in the mood to read something a little risque. I took a look at my MM/menage shelf, put the books in order by rating, and picked the top one I hadn't read but already owned. I have alot stored up on my kindle from books I've downloaded for free or purchased on sale. That led me to Breaking Perfect. I figured I'd read a few pages and see what I thought.

"...what if I told you I didn’t want to make love? What if I told you I wanted to fuck my wife?” His words were out before he considered that they might not get the desired reaction.

A chill visibly traveled up her body causing her to tremble and sigh. Her pupils dilated, as she looked at him with denim blue irises, dark with arousal. Oh, something was definitely going on with her.

His shock at his audacious words disappeared. Calmly, softly, he asked, “Liberty, what if I told you I want to yank this suit aside and shove my cock so far up your pussy you scream with pleasure?”

This book is ridiculously HOT! A freakin scorcher! I'm going to come back and do a full review but just wanted to put it out there while this book is still free- if you like MMF/menage, you have to pick this up. I'll be honest, this book is definitely sex heavy but there are alot of interesting elements at play that I really liked as well. I love to read about a sexually dominatate male but it's very hard to find one outside of a BDSM story line. I'll read BDSM but the domination is what I find sexy as hell to read about. I loved that Mason was an alpha/male with a dominating streak without the BDSM stuff.

To him, her submission was a gift, but to her, him taking control of the things she couldn’t, was an even bigger gift.

I loved the titillating dirty talk. I mean it was off the charts HOT! I don't currently have a DIRTY TALK shelf (I'm not sure why not!!) but I think I will shortly =)

“Do you want to get fucked, Liberty?”

She tried not to wince at his crude words. They were wrong, but excited her on some level. Yes, she wanted Mason inside of her. Her skin prickled with need.

“Answer me.”

She looked into his eyes. He was serious and she reminded herself of all she had promised the night before. He was in charge.

“Yes, Mason.”

“Yes, Mason, what?”

“Yes, Mason, I want you to fuck me.”

The corner of his lip turned up and she knew he was pleased. “How would you like to be fucked, Liberty?”

“Hard.”

There's also a secondary story line regarding OCD that I found fasinating to read about. While Libbie's actions seemed somewhat crazy and quirky from the outside looking in, it was interesting to see how her mind worked, how important her rules and routines were.

She looked at the dishes still needing to be done and then at the time. Mason had thirty minutes before he had to leave. He needed a lunch. Banana, sliced in half and then thirds per half forming six pieces. One cup of Greek yogurt. Thirty-six clusters of granola for topping. Two egg salad sandwiches made from three eggs and three teaspoons of mayonnaise. Six… Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck… she tried not to think it. Tried to leave it at five fucks.

Fuck!

The OCD story line actually opens the door for some light BDSM. I actually thought the way BDSM was introduced and the role it played in relation to Libby's OCD was very interesting. Although only very lightly touched on in discussion, the idea of sexual masochism as an alternative to harmful activites was something I've never thought on. Like I said, I have read some BDSM story lines but only pretty cookie cutter stuff, nothing that has delved into any deeper ideas behind the practice or anything that has focused on the SM part. This book certainly doesn't offer any major insights on BDSM but like I said, I thought it was an interesting part of the overall story.

I did have one issue with the story. Mason and Sean were dishonest about their past relationship and intense feelings towards each other. Their feelings were a really important part of the story and the actual catalyst for the entire menage relationship (IMO), and it just seemed very deceitful to hide the truth. It seemed like a betrayal to Libby, particularly for Mason.

Sean’s fingers found the cleft of Mason’s ass and separated his flesh while he ate at Libby’s pussy. He felt for and found the tight knot of his anus and applied mild pressure.

“Fuck!” Mason shouted and began to ride his wife hard.

This book is just crazy sexy...I've practically highlighted the whole book on my kindle (for review purposes, of course). This is going in my re-read, blazing hot, best dirty talk, hottest menage PILE! I have to give this one FIVE DIRTY STARS for just being so fucking hot! I am also immediately checking out everything else by this author immediately!

Bound in ways no predestined mold could have designed. Like trying to swim upstream, they had each been chasing other people’s ideals their entire lives. It wasn’t until they realized that even the definition of perfect was broken, a geometric ray with no end, that they finally stopped trying to be something other than themselves and embraced who they truly were.

Three separate people, neither one perfect, each a little broken, melded so tightly together they had eventually become one.

OMG what did I just read… Why isn't everyone reading this right now??? When I needed something to read I figured I would give this a try. I heard the h was very OCD and I just love those books. I love reading some twisted shit even if it has to be OCD.

There are so many things I loved about this book. It had the perfect balanced in between scene’s that did not make it boring or make me want to stop reading at all. There is some M/M scenes in the book that were OMG I am dripping down my leg good.

I LOVE Liberty. She is that type of character that I wanted to run to safety but also that type of character that I just wanted to seat back and see what next fucked up thing she was going to do. She was kind of like a roller coaster that I just sat there with popcorn watching and waiting for her next fucked up blow out OCD obsession. Liberty is damaged. But not damaged good. It’s just the little things and when it comes to those and her mind it’s pretty much no stopping.

Mason, he is the perfect husband. He loved Liberty more than anything. And you can tell how much he loves her. Their marriage looks perfect on the outside but on the inside it is very rehearsed.

This is the part that totally had me spinning over this book and made me love it even more! Sean. Sean, made this book work between Mason and Liberty. When the 3 of them get together there is a form of connection between them 3. And it’s not just m/f. There is m/f/m, m/m/f. It’s all over the place and I loved every bit of it.

I wish more people would read this book and appreciate it for what it is. This is a very lovely story that is kept very close to me now. I would be reading it again.

4 HOT HOT HOT stars!!!

OK there were some things that didn't do for me, lack of some details in general. Heroine was too weak (yes I know, she has OCD). Words "little" and "large" are used too many times. But you know what? I don't care, because sex scenes were hot as f*ck! Story is based on sex scenes (MF, MM, MMF), so you easily forgot about everything else. There was no lack of details when reading sex scenes!

I really really enjoyed this one; I'm not sure why it took me this long to read this one, but WOW!
Lydia is definitely a "go-to" author for me.

If my computer doesn't give me problems, I'll try to add some more to this review.

One of the hottest books of the year. I read romance books daily and most times it’s just another sex scene. Let me just clear it up right now – the hallway pounding that took place with all three characters was NOT just another sex scene: it was hot, forbidden and touched on things that you think you shouldn’t enjoy as you’re running to get your vibrator. The Author managed to write a book that brought you into the story not only of Liberty and dealing with her issues, but Mason who spent the majority of his time trying to create the perfect world. The story started out with us learning about Liberty and Mason and then at about 45% traveled into a world of smoking hot sex.

I think we have all at times felt trapped in our own minds. Dealing with thoughts you can’t voice and can’t seem to ever run from. Liberty suffered from a horrific past. She deals the only way she can – with fear, consistency and obsessing.  Trying to sort through the chaotic feelings of distorted thoughts she handles it the only way she knows  – order and pain. Liberty is strong in her own right. She is a survivor waiting to be set free. Mason is the glue that holds her together. He was perfect in his own right. Mason has a past one that no matter how hard he tries to forget still desires. When his past enters his future and Sean is introduced - this book turns from a nice read to a strip your clothes off and jump in an ice-cold shower kind of a book.

Let me just warn you if you don’t read MMF then this book isn’t for you, but if you do read it than don’t let this book fool you. It will have your face flushed and sneaking off anywhere to finish the scenes uninterrupted. Once she turns up the heat you will be panting right along with the characters. The only way I can explain this book is asking "Have you ever looked at a calm river and felt the serenity, but something inside you wanted to throw a huge rock into it just to watch the ripples?" That is how I felt reading this book. I felt like at 45% she took the biggest fucking rock she could find and through it not only breaking the calm, but the perfect.

Genre: Erotica
Type: Standalone
POV: Third Person
Rating:

Liberty (Libby) Davis lived her life by a strict routine. Her husband Mason who knew exactly what she wanted and needed, helped her lived a relatively normal life. But when his old friend Sean O’Malley came into their life, it shifted their perfectly crafted equilibrium.

I started this book completely blind and was pleasantly surprised when it comes to Libby’s situation. I loved the psychological aspect of her character, and I felt for her. However, I was hoping for the relationship aspect and the characters' dynamics to be deeper.

Being abandoned by someone you trust with your heart, someone you trust to love you no matter what, is worse than any form of hate.

Breaking Perfect is a story of breaking free from one's own prison. It would appeal to readers who enjoy an MMF erotica story with light BDSM elements.

Who the hell is this author, and how in the hell did she write a character that at times reminded me so much of myself? I’m speechless right now.

I’ve been dealing with OCD and panic disorder for longer than I care to admit. This book hit a little too close to home for me at times. Fortunately my OCD symptoms aren’t as extreme as the ones that haunt Liberty, but there were similarities that had me freaked out at times. Two words coffee maker.

In this story the readers are able to read the POV’s from all three of the main characters which is what made this book such a treasure. This author did an amazing job with not only describing the internal battles raging through Liberty’s mind, but also the constant conflict her husband Mason, faced as he tried with all that he had to fight her demons for her.

The dynamic relationship between Liberty and Mason was incredible on its own, then Sean comes into the picture and we go from witnessing something incredible to something beautiful.

They say that three’s a crowd welllll in this case, NOT!
Liberty, Sean and Mase were absolutely perfect. This was such a hot read. A lot of steamy scenes and a lot of toe curling involved. Also I cried a lot. Each character went through their own journey.
Mase and Sean broke up 13 years ago. Libby was molested by her asshole step dad, while also suffering at the hands of her mother who’s the vilest woman ever. FUCK HER FOR NOT BELIEVING HER DAUGHTER WAS GETTING RAPED.
On a lighter note. Read the book, my good read friend Isabella actually recommended this to me and I have to say it’s a favorite for sure! Thank you for the recommendation!

Complicated kink ⭐️

Oh, how I missed some real kink in my pink fairy tales!
A true MMF ménage can’t really disappoint me.

I loved that the story had some depth. If you read the synopsis you’ll get almost the whole picture. I’m not ashamed to admit the sex scenes were painfully hot, but since it wasn’t all smut and the author touched some heavy issues, like mental illnesses, childhood drama - to be read as mommy/daddy issues, i can’t help but criticize the story a little bit more than I would normally do with a true erotica novel.

First thing that “bothered me” was the relationship between Dr Mason Davies and his wife. I mean, she suffers from OCD and they’ve been married for five years during which time they had sex only on Fridays, lights turned off and she almost never orgasmed. Suddenly, another guy appears and they jump from that to the kinkiest things possible. Something doesn’t add up. 🤔

Then it was Mason and Sean’s relationship. They seriously loved each other thirteen years ago, but Sean easily left his partner and moved across country. One of his reasons was his bigot, abusive, asshole of a father. I could never admire a weak man like that, even if he’s totally fictional. Own your decision, if you’re that alpha you think you are. Be true to yourself and don’t hurt the people you’re supposed to love!

One more thing, the men called each other “my boy”. They’re thirty-eight years old, for fuck’s sake! It was such a turn off hearing/reading that endearment.

That being said, I don’t regret reading it and again, trust me when I say this: if you want to read it, make sure you’ll have some spare panties nearby. ☺️

Thank you, Issy, for setting me on 🔥 with your recommendation.

This was a hidden gem, the kind of mmf I really like, very sexy participation and good story to boot! See my tags.

We open with Liberty and Mason, a married couple of five years and while they look like the perfect couple on the outside, each day can be a struggle to get through with dealing with Libby's OCD. I liked the way that Mason and Libby talked in-depth about everything, no lies and analyzed Libby's episodes in a non-shaming way. Mason really worked to be there for Libby and accepting her by scheduling his work and keeping to routine as much as possible and really paying attention to her verbal/physical cues when she's having trouble.

Libby has recently become dissatisfied with the Friday/Wednesday, in-the-dark sex routine and Mason picks up on this and works towards pushing her boundaries out a bit. This shows Libby's growth and progress with her that she wants to step out of the routine.

While they're working on this, Mason's long-ago male lover shows up on his doorstep. Sean abandoned Mason 13 years ago after a two-year college romance to try and make his father happy. His father has recently died and Sean still loves Mason, except Mason has married, a woman.

What was tricky is Mason had never told Libby about Sean and I don't fault him for that. With Libby's issues, there just never was a right time so I don't feel like he deliberately deceived her.

Both Libby and Sean are damaged by the past and with the different POV's you get a sense of who they are and the way they tip-toe to a menage makes sense.

There was very hot sexin', one of the best mmf's I've read, this is what menages should aspire to and definitely reread worthy. This author is a new-to-me author and I really enjoyed this surprise. Thank you, Victoria for talking it up - You were right.

I may be back to add more but I really liked this read.

[A few editing quibbles but didn't take away from the story.]

Ok this book ... this book was so much more than I was expecting. It seriously caught me off guard. And don't you just Love it when that happens with a book?
First I started reading it because I am a sucker for MMF stories and I find it very interesting when one or more characters are emotionally or psychologically troubled.
Yet I didn't expect to love the dynamic between the characters so much. I loved everything in this book. Sure there definitely are a few issues I didn't like that came up for me, like the lack of communication that happens so often in threesome stories, yet every time it annoys and baffles me since this way is often used to simply create unnecessary drama and I would wish for a different way to bring suspense into a story. I also thought the way both men acted behind Libertys back was rather awful, even more miscommunication happened ... yadda yadda ... some old song.
Furthermore I wasn't too fond of one of the Male characters, Mason the husband, since he fell kinda flat and week, I was missing the depths of his personality, he was too "Perfect" and nice for me to be really likeable. Add to that his behaviour behind Libbys back and you create a guy I am not fond off, even though he does have his good aspects.
But despite those aspects I thouroghly enjoyed this story and I am really glad I found this ebook. This definitely was not my last book by this author.

❛You’re the glue that binds me together. There is no you, separate from me. We’re one. Sean may have been a part of my past, but you’re my future and there is no me without you. I can’t agree to any of this if it’s not what you want too. You come first. You’ll always come first.❜

I enjoyed this book, I only knocked the rating slightly because I found the story to be a tiny bit hard to follow at times and it would've been better if the author included each character's past.

“I don’t want to be the center of anyone’s world but yours.”

An erotic romance between three people who aren’t perfect.

I highly enjoyed this one! This was my first time reading Lydia Michaels and it did not disappoint. I loved the trio; Mason was my favorite. I just admired how patient and understanding he was with his wife, Libby, and how wise he was. Libby suffers from OCD, and it was interesting to see her take on it and what really happens with her illness. I adored the character growth from Libby and Sean as they both fought their own demons until the end, which caused them an immense amount of growth. Also, this is probably one of the smuttiest books I’ve read lol, here for it!

Liberty Davis has been married to Mason for five years, and during this time, she has tried to keep her demons at bay. While patient and loving, Mason knows his wife’s limits but when a long-time friend arrives for a visit, it’s a perfect time to create new patterns.

“It was as if he depended on her consistent submissiveness as much as she depended on his control.”

Going into this story, I expected an erotic adventure and it certainly delivered. Mason and Liberty share a special connection, as he is protective of her sensitivities due to her past. By giving control to Mason, it frees Libby and she is eager to let loose. With the addition of Sean, the heat is turned up several notches due to his bond with Mason and attraction to Liberty, making the MMF dynamic combustible.

“Liberty, how would you feel about Sean licking that sweet little clit of yours while I fuck your pussy nice, slow and deep?”

Overall, Breaking Perfect has a balanced combination of erotic content with serious issues affecting the characters. This book would appeal to those seeking a polyamorous romance.

I had high hopes for this story after seeing many 4 -5 star reviews, however I struggled through most of it. The sex was hot, and there was A LOT of it, but the plot was luke warm bordering on cold, IMO.

I didn't understand how the two main characters Mason & Liberty went from 5 years of vanilla sex into a full on menage relationship in next to no time at all. From what we read they didn't even discuss sex prior to Sean's arrival so I'm not sure how that was all okay, all of a sudden.

I was looking forward to reading about the OCD issues but that fell flat for me as well. If only a mental illness could be cured by having two hot guys dominate and spank you ;)

I had trouble 'getting' this book, I struggled with Sean and Mason's sporadic behaviour towards each other and their situation. Understood that Libby had issues, why she had them and how they continued to haunt her. What struck me as strange was the way Mason reacted to Sean reactions. Ironically it was Libby who made the most sense.

There was lots of steam but I was hoping for a more fleshed out story. This could just be a case of the story / characters not resonating with me because others have rated it well.

Surprisingly emotional for an erotic romance, a very well written book.
This book needs to get more than 5 stars from me so I am giving them. I rarely enjoy reading a book as much as this one. It was uplifting, yet gritty in its own way. I loved Mason, there was something about him and his gentle way of dealing with his wife that I felt he did not get enough credit for. The timing of the acceleration in their relationship could not have been possible without his gentle nurturing throughout the five years that they were married and Libby was correct when she said there were three in the relationship, him, her and her illness. I can only imagine and sympathize with her state and imagine how she must have survived until she met Mason. It was confusing that the KarLyn situation was not given closure, I would have loved to see that, it was missing from this story. Also missing from the story was the chemistry between Mason and Sean, it was very much scene after scene of insert tab A in slot B, which I did not like to read. Yes they cried together, yes they loved each other, yes they found each other after many many years, but they were not drawn together like two people in love. Above all I read this as a love story so in my imagination there is a lot more growing for these three people to do together and living for them to resolve their issues, but for me I was just glad to read this story of love and how is it is all-encompassing and can conquer everything if it is true.

This triggered the crap outta me. I don't know if I could handle sharing my partner. Especially if there was love involved from an old flame. In any case, they made it work. I found the love scenes kinda hard to visualize at times due to all the contortions taking place and that did zap the heat of the scene at times. Still, I loved Libby and Sean. Mason was a bit more difficult as he seemed a bit like an enabler to Libby. And, he was okay with their pathetic love life every Friday evening without her being satisfied for YEARS! WTF! I wonder of I'd handle a ménage better if the male couple was established and the female was introduced into the relationship. I haven't read a lot of this sub romance genre, so I'll give it a try.

Breaking Perfect is hands-down a masterclass in the menage genre. Michaels expertly crafts a tangled web of characters and dynamics that coalesce into a brilliant narrative. Do yourself a favor and read this!

**Upon a reread, this review is a bit spoilerish so be warned**

This was a great book! I loved Libby, Mason and Sean and couldn't help but get sucked in to their story. It was so interesting to see them all work through things, Libby's issues with OCD as well as Sean's personal issues. This is the first story I've read by this author but I'll definitely be trying more of her work in the future.

Liberty grew up with a horrible mother who treated her worse than a dog. She also had a step-father that was sexually abusive and she had no protection from that because her mother wouldn't believe her, calling her a liar and a whore. Due to her abusive childhood, she developed emotional issues that came through as OCD and she's always striving to make things in her life as perfect as she can. She was saved from her previous life when meeting Mason and they fell in love. They've been married for 5 years and she does everything she can to take care of Mason because he gives her so much and she loves him more than she ever thought possible.

Mason is a doctor and met Libby while on duty. He's very familiar with her mother and her issues but fell for her right off and married her within 2 months of meeting her. Mason has been happy with Libby and doesn't mind her "quirks", happy to be with her and do anything he can to make her life better. He never told her about his one serious past relationship though. He had a lover in college that was a man and didn't mention it but since it was years before it never seemed necessary. Mason found he regretted never taking the time to fill Libby in on his past when his ex shows up on his doorstep.

Sean is a works as a physical therapist and is a good guy but has a lot of emotional issues. He and Mason had been lovers back in college and he loved Mason. Unfortunately, he had issues admitting his relationship with another man to his father (a father that was a horrible man that always made Sean feel like a failure no matter what). Sean ended up leaving Mason 13 years before due to these issues and only allows himself to go see Mason once his father died. By that time Mason is married and has a settled life and Sean doesn't know what he's doing on Mason's doorstep but that doesn't stop him from ringing the bell.

When Sean first shows up, he just tells Libby he's an old college friend. Libby thinks that Mason will be happy to see Sean and invites him to stay. Things are rather tense when Mason gets home but with some effort, they smooth things over to avoid making things weird for Libby and Sean stays as a friend. This isn't easy for him though because Sean finds he still has feelings for Mason and hearing Mason and Libby have sex is killing him. It doesn't help that he's found that he likes Libby and doesn't want to hurt her. Libby has also found she liked Sean but is a little disturbed because she's feeling attraction for Sean that she's only previously felt for Mason before. Things come to a head when Sean happens upon Mason and Libby having sex (in the hallway so big surprise there). Sean is surprised when instead of chasing him off, Mason welcomes him in and offer to have him take part in the fun. Libby is accepting of his presence and they have a very intense encounter that causes everyone to reevaluate how things will proceed from here.

Things aren't smooth as Sean starts to get integrated in to Libby and Mason's life. Sean (because of his father's emotional abuse) doesn't feel worthy or like he's lovable enough to be accepted and it takes some doing for Mason and Libby to convince him that they want him with them long term. While Libby is usually weirded out by change, accepting Sean in to their family was easier than expected but when there's danger of him leaving she's very adamant that she wont have that. There's also so issues dealing with Libby's OCD. It's usually under control but there are flair ups at times and during one of these times, Mason isn't home and Sean has to figure out how to help Libby on his own. Sean does help Libby but Mason takes things the wrong way when he walks in at the tail end and there's more drama while they work on their trust issues and Libby's needs. I really liked seeing Libby, Mason and Sean work things out and seeing them grow together in to their threesome (including how they gradually included the m/m in the relationship to grow in to a m/m/f relationship). I swear, this book sucked me in from the beginning and it just got better as it went. I really liked how things worked out and enjoyed seeing a glimpse of how things go in the future in the epilogue. I was very happy to see Libby, Mason and Sean get their well deserved HEA.

This was such an enjoyable story. I loved the characters and thought the story was very interesting and well done. The story is a really good length but I got so caught up in it I hated to see it end and wished there was more. There is light BDSM content, mostly spanking, bondage and anal. I'd recommend this book. 2 Thumbs up! :D

This book hurt me so good! I absolutely loved it and am so honored to have received an ARC for its re-release. I flew through Breaking Perfect in less than 48-hours (how is this book 500 pages? It definitely didn't feel like it) and will definitely be rereading it someday. The main characters were all amazing, and I loved their chemistry with each other! I don't think I have ever read a book where one of the main characters has OCD, and I appreciated seeing how it was handled and discussed here. This book is very, very spicy, but it's also super heartwarming and pulled at my heartstrings. I seriously loved it and already wish I could experience it again for the first time. This is not my first MMF romance, and it won't be my last!

TW for emotional abuse in the past, sexual content.

A huge thank you to Valentine PR and Lydia Michaels for the ARC of Breaking Perfect.

Summary – 5 stars
Breaking Perfect by Lydia Michaels is the story of a woman trapped by her compulsions, who finds comfort in the careful world she and her husband have structured. Liberty's careful balance is disrupted when her husband's old friend comes to visit, and she develops an unexpected attraction to him. Not only that, but her husband seems very comfortable with intimate contact with his old friend, Sean. This is an outstanding book, and you should go buy it immediately. Breaking Perfect is so much more than this brief review can do justice. It's well worth the $7 e-book price, and if you find it for less you should celebrate.

Fantasy World
Liberty's world is outlined in such exquisite detail, the rules start to make sense. The author has done a truly amazing job of making Liberty's OCD real instead of just a character quirk.

Tingle Factor
Holy shit is Breaking Perfect hot! It starts slowly with missionary sex in the dark, which made me worry I had picked up the wrong book. However, once the action gets going it does not stop. This is a menage story including male/male interaction, and it is done very well. There is also some light BDSM.

Romance
Love is accepting for someone for who they truly are, and wanting the best for them. Breaking Perfect reminds us of this over and over. All the characters are fully integrated into the relationship, and no one feels like an afterthought even though Liberty and Mason are married.

Drama
The drama is layered as there is relationship tension between Mason and Alex, Alex and Liberty, and Liberty and Mason. Also, there is the drama of Liberty's every day existence. The drive to do harmful things to herself, and her internal struggles against her compulsions. Mason wants to help Liberty, but in a way is also a prisoner of her disease.

Heroine
Liberty is a sympathetic character who is only too aware of her problems. She feels trapped by her behaviors, but they're the only way she knows how to cope with a horrific past. Her relationship with Mason is the rock on which she anchors her life, and she's not sure whether Sean threatens that stability or not.

Hero #1
Mason starts as the stereotypical wealthy, successful surgeon, but as we get to know him he turns out to be so much more. He loves Liberty for who she truly is, and not as some pity project or china doll. Mason once loved Sean, and is discovering that he never stopped. How does he meet both their needs?

Hero #2
Sean has never been able to overcome his father's disapproval, not even now that he's dead. Neither has he ever been able to overcome his love for Mason. He shows up unexpectedly trying to overcome the ghosts of the past, but nothing about Mason or Liberty is as he expected. He's further shocked when he finds himself attracted to Liberty, and invited to touch her by Mason.

What can I say about Breaking Perfect? This is not your ordinary romance novel. I hate to give spoilers and it's a little hard to explain this story without giving out part of the plot. So let me just say Breaking Perfect is a powerful and compelling tale, that draws you into the lives of three very different people. Each had their own demons to fight and together they learn that no one has to be perfect to be loved.
I will warn those of you with triggers that the heroine of Breaking Perfect, Libby, suffers from OCD. I have lived with this illness in my own family and tell you it is a stunningly honest look at this illness and the tole it takes on both the one with the disease and those who love them.
If you don't have an open mind about alternative lifestyles, Breaking Perfect is not the book for you. But, if you can look past the surface and societies preconceptions, you will find Breaking Perfect to be extraordinarily moving.
"I'm not afraid."
"Sure you are. Love is scary.it's a free fall into the keeping of someone else, a sort of surrender. You think I wasn't afraid at some point in my life that the person I loved would suddenly abandon me or crush me when I allowed my vulnerabilities to show? Being abandoned by someone you trust with your heart, someone you trust to love you no matter what, is worse than any form of hate. It's the indifference that kills you, their ability to simply walk away from something like its nothing when it meant everything to you. It sucks. I should know."
Just a small glimpse of what treasures you will find in Breaking Perfect.
