Imperfections #2

Come to Light

Rate this book
After years of wanting her and fighting against myself, I finally had her. For one brief weekend I was whole, looking into the eyes of the woman I've always loved. The one person I'd do anything for.

Catherine Reed is the love of my life, but I blew it when she discovered her sister and I were engaged. But things have changed.

I know she doesn't want anything to do with me, she needs time. Time to heal and repair the damage the discovery of our relationship did to her and her family. I'm willing to give her time, but I will not give up on us. She is my one true addiction and a love as strong as ours is worth fighting for.

Coming back to New York to be with my family and the man I've always loved seemed like the perfect plan. Little did I know that I’d be living in a kind of hell after my family turned against me. In the end, I had no choice but to let go of the love of my life, Nicholas Alexander.

I'm not sure if I can ever truly recover from losing a once-in-a-lifetime love and I know things will never be the same with my family. I didn't think my life could get more complicated, but I was wrong. Consequences for the choices we've made may cost me everything.

Cat and Nick have been in love since they were kids.

In book one, we were introduced to their past history and Cat's family dynamics. Book two continues the saga.

This is a train wreck family, full of train wreck people and instances, and it is difficult to look away from.

It is Jerry Springer and Maury Povich on steroids. There's a bit of Shameless thrown in for good measure and I expected Darth Vadar to pop out proclaiming he was someone's father.

Shaniel Watson can certainly write fiction that is attention grabbing and compelling.

The book and series is well named. No one is perfect. Certainly not the characters in these works. Grab it. Have a read. Let it be your dirty little secret - like the one time you stayed up and listened to your family get drunk and let loose on the gossip.

Wow again there were times I wanted to throw my kindle or jump into the book and strangle the characters! But this follow up to Imperfections was everything I hoped it would be!! It had more passion more love more hate and most of all a lot more Nick & Cat. These two had a love so powerful and intense it catitivated me from start to finish! I can't wait to see what Shaniel brings next I'm freaking excited....

Love this

5 stars

This is the second book in the series and it was amazing. The trials and tribulations that this author puts these characters through are just fabulous. Cat was so easy to relate to you just wanted to get into the book and squeeze her.
I wasn't so keen on her family though because they should've supported her the whole time but again this is what families do they create drama but they love you all the same. The sexiness book was phenomenal.

Happy sexy reading

Novel of a grand dysfunctional family

I gave this novel a three because it was a total wrecking ball. Two main characters .Cat and Nick. Cat's entire family is beyond dysfunctional. Nick is older than Cat but has. Always had feedings for her. Now Cat and Nick are in love and having a baby. Needless to say dysfunctional family steps in .There is a HEA . It could have been a really good book if it had not been stretched to make it a series of clutter.

Nick and Cat's story continues in this second book. They have endured some heartache, manipulations and everyone and their mother pretty much are against Nick and Cat being together. But they can't help how they feel about each other and even though Cat is struggling with accepting the fact that Nick and Katie are having a baby together. But as much as she wants to stay away she just can't because she loves him too much.

Cat has decided to step away and let Nick make a life with Katie, as much as it hurts she knows she's doing the right thing. Katie needs Nick at this time and Nick will be there for her at a most crucial time in their lives but he has vowed that he will not give up on Cat and he will do whatever it takes to be with her because she is the love of her life.

Cat is an emotional wreck, but knows how to mask her emotions well. She sure was a tough cookie, but there comes a time that even though you don't want to disturb or interrupt something that you think is great with others, but you need to for your own sake and sanity.

Cat has no choice but to contact Nick when she faints and ends up with a concussion due to dehydration and for other reasons and that's where it gets complicated again. Nick has decided that he's going to fight for Cat regardless if her family opposes or his. He only cares about Cat and he will stop at nothing to get what he wants and deserves and that's Cat and her love.

Now I loved Nick because he was a total male alpha and didn't give a hoot if he lost his best friend or not. Enough was enough and he went through life, experienced his gigolo lifestyle and now it was time to settle down and who better than to provide for him, be there for him, and love him -- no one was better than Cat for him. She turned out to be a little kitten in the bedroom too, she would submit to his desires and he loved that about her, but over all they were just compatible and have felt that strong connection between them.

In this second book, they will find themselves struggling to try and cope with loss, gain, love, struggle and forgiveness.

This was a truly great ending to Cat and Nick's story. It took a lot for them to finally find their happily ever after but nothing was going to get in the way of their happiness this time!

Kudo's to you Ms. Watson and thank you for giving us such a wonderful story about two people who go through a lot to finally be together.

This was truly a story that will stay with me for a long time and now I can't wait to get Chris and Ava's story!!

Heartbreak

Redemption is a difficult thing to do, especially when the pain caused was intense and deafening.

Well, Nick really knows how to stick his foot in his mouth and make a mess of things, and yet, if there's anything I can say positive, the love existing between Cat and Nick is epic. It's the kind of love that every girl dreams of having when they imagine Prince Charming, that is, when he's not being overbearing, controlling, an idiot or in an argument with Cat. Not to say that Cat is perfect, far from it, she's like every other woman: emotional, expects her man to understand her and to know what she needs before she has to say anything. Readers can't deny the relatability of the relationships between the characters, the sexual tensions, and the ups and downs that exists in life. Nothing is sugar coated in this book, it's plainly written, a thrill and an emotional roller coaster that keeps going higher and higher and plummets just as fast.

Nicolas Alexander has finally gotten his chance with the love of his life, and they spent a beautiful weekend together. But when the complication of being engaged to her sister fully implodes, she walks away from him because she needs time and space. He had no choice but to let her, but refuses to give up fighting for them. Catherine thought moving home near her family, and finally getting her man was the perfect plan, so she never thought it would become the hell she's living now. Just when she thought they had a chance, everything blew up in her face, and now her family wants nothing to do with her. So she gives up the love of her life, and she's not sure she will every recover from the destruction. Just when they thought nothing else could go wrong, a new complication is thrown in the mix. Will Nicolas and Catherine ever get their long awaited HEA, or lose everything?!

This is the second book in the series, so you MUST read the first book to come even close to experiencing the roller coaster ride of dramatic emotions that I barely can walk off of. Yes, my dramatic girly girl emotion switch has been destroyed so I can't turn it off. My ripped out, burnt, and stomped to pieces heart has finally been stitched up and shoved back in painfully. The emotionally charged, intense, and well written storyline flowed very smoothly. Shaniel Watson has a talented writing style that reeled me in, and transported me into the middle of the angst filled story which made it hard to breathe at times. And I can't forget the biggest twist of all that made me scream OMG (and maybe a f-bomb or two) loudly! Thank goodness for the well placed humor that gave me a break from the super heavy, as I laughed my butt off, especially with Nicolas' cousin stealing the show. I CANNOT WAIT to read more by this amazing author so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND this series and author to EVERYONE!

I actually enjoyed this series. I gave it a 4 because there's still some typos and a couple of times I had to go back to see who was talking. She jumped with no segue. That being said this family would fit in on Jerry Springer or Maury Povich. The next story is Ava and Chris. That should be good because I love Ava and her smart mouth. If you have any questions or want to dicuss this book or review let me know. If I gave any more details it would have spoiled the book.

REVIEW:
Cat and Nick have been in love since they were kids. Not a puppy love but a soul deep love that can and does survive everything in their path.
In book one we find that Cat's family will do anything and everything to keep them apart. In this book things get worse. Can anyone in her family accept their relationship?
When I was reading book one, Imperfections, I felt like I was watching Jerry Springer and Maury Povich wrapped up in a train wreck that I couldn't look away from. "Nick, YOU ARE THE FATHER". Then, of coarse, tempers flair, a fight breaks out, blood is shed, and people are pulled apart. I can honestly say that this is a hard series to put down.
Shaniel Watson did an excellent job of grabbing my attention and keeping it throughout. At times I couldn't believe what was happening. Family dynamics be damned because your real family are those that stick by you and support you unconditionally.
This story gives a good lesson that no one is perfect. We're all perfectly imperfect. Life isn't easy and loving someone makes the imperfections perfect.
I read and reviewed this for Kylie's Fiction Addiction.

WOW!!!!! Love this series. Shaniel Watson is a master storyteller!! This series is funny & serious, sweet & HOT and soooooo much drama!!!!

Cat & Nick!! OMG Explosive Heat!!! They are seriously meant for each other!!! In every way. They are best friends. Hot and heavy in the bedroom. Get along great out of the bedroom. They KNOW each other and grew up with each other.

Too bad Nick make the biggest mistake of his life by sleeping with her sister, Kate. However, they weren’t together so they could possibly get past it if Kate wasn’t pregnant!! Yeah…that’s a whole big Effed up mess!!!

Nick doesn’t think it’s his. He’s a protection-all-the time kind of guy and has serious doubts the baby is his. On top of all that mess he can’t not be with Cat. So that’s a big secret too. Cat feels guilty and torn because Nick was really hers first. She’s loved him all her life and he’s loved her too. Now that they are grown up and it’s time for them to have a relationship, it seems fate is trying to keep them apart!

It’s not fair and the hits just keep on coming. Will they ever be able to have a normal relationship? How are their families going to take them being together after his time with Kate? It’s all a giant mess and it’s going to take a lot of fight to stay together.

I loved this series. You do have to read the first book, Imperfections, in order to understand what’s going on. But it’s a fantastic story!!!

Highly Recommend!!!

This is the second book in this series by Shaniel Watson and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this touching series. Ms Watson has written a series that just sucks us in and keeps us there from start to finish, and then leaves us wanting more from this author . Many things have happened in this series and many things has exploded between this charming pair. And thing just don't get any better for Cat and Nick . Cat's family has ostracizes her and it seems Nick keeps pushing her in to Matt's arms. Cat knows that she will always love Nick ,but she feels if she ends up with Matt ,everything will be better for her family. As I'm reading this story I had a total dislike for her mother and sister their were both a piece of work ,and I couldn't connect with them. But deep down Cat really hopes things will work out .But some unexpected news bring Cat and Nick back together , but not how Nick wanted,But soon Nick's actions come back to haunt him. Things get out of hand again and a show down becomes between Cat and Katie erupts and changes the dynamics of the their family again. What will happen now? I could tell you more about this touching romance story, but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this story, you won't be disappointed.

I was given an ARC book for an honest review free of persuasion from the author or anyone else affiliated with this book.

CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS

This book was a wonderful sequel to the first book. Again it was a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed and cried right along with the characters. I absolutely loved the characters in the book and felt like I was standing there watching everything play out right in front of me.

This book starts off with Nick suffering through the loss of Cat. You never know what you have until it's gone certainly comes to mind and fits the first chapter in this book. When Cat passes out at the school she works at and is taken to the hospital, Nick is called. When Nick and Cat find out why she passed out, their whole world changes! Cat is pregnant with Nick's child. She got pregnant the very same night that her sister Kate lost her child. How does Kate and Cat's family react? What trials are ahead for Cat and Nick?

I enjoyed this book of Saniel Watson. I look forward to reading more of her work in the future!

After the way things imploded between Cat and Nick, things don't seem to be getting any better. Cat is now ostracized by her family and Nick just seems to keep pushing Cat into Matt's arms. Even though Cat still loves Nick, she feels that if she ends up with Matt, that will make things better for her with her family. Even though her mom and sister are a piece of work, Cat still doesn't stop hoping that things can be fixed. Unexpected news brings Cat and Nick back together, but not in the way Nick wants. The actions of Nick at the end of the last book come back to haunt him. This was another situation that if Nick had been honest about from the beginning, things wouldn't have gotten out of hand. The showdown between Cat and her sister changes the dynamics of her family again. I was not ready for this book to end and hope their story will continue

A Perfect Sequel
This book is just as good as the first if not better! The author has done an amazing job with this one as well as the first. I fell right into the book and found it hard to come up for air. There is so much going on so much drama and emotion, both up and downs, I just could not pull myself away! These characters have become so important to me, I laughed and cried right along with them. I was really invested in them and just wanted them to have their HEA. Their love is beautiful and undeniable, but will love be enough? Will they be able to get past all of the lies and deceit? You will just have to read and find out. The author really knocked this one out of the ball park and I can't wait to read more from her. I am very eager for Ava's story. I was given a complimentary copy of this book for an honest review.

Oh the drama! If you thought there was crazy drama in book one of this series, Imperfections it was nothing compared to what you will find in Shaniel Watson's Imperfections Come to Light!

While Cat tries to move on from Nick and start her own life, she is thrown back into the thick of things after fainting while teaching. Calling Nick to take care of her seemed like her only option, especially after the fall out with her family over being with her sister's baby daddy.

Nick wants nothing more than to be with Cat and although the road there is unconventional he will do anything it takes to be with the love of his life, especially following her hospital stay.

What follows can only rival a good old
Fashion Maury or Jerry Springer show but that's what brings a little comic relief to this series.

I look forward to reading Chris and Ava's story.

Just when I thought book one could not be any better along comes book two that completely intensifies the story even more. Cat and Nick have had the most impossible obstacles to overcome in their love story and yet they continue to be drawn together. Cat is all alone. Her family has turned against her and she is being pushed into another relationship while trying to do the right thing for everyone but herself. Everyone just needs to take a second and breathe. Oh yeah, they need to come clean with all the secrets and lies that everyone is holding inside. This book kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what would happen next and how in the world these two were ever going to find peace. I recommend this book to everyone looking for a dramatic but rewarding romance.

This is a wonderful series! This is the continuation of Cat and Nicks story, and what a screwed up mess of a story it is. This is an intense and powerful storyline a days I loved the overall message it conveyed ~ 'We All Have Imperfections.'
The characters were so well written, I absolutely hated, loathed and wanted to bi$$th slap Cat's sister and mother!
Will Cat end up with Matt?
Does Katie get Nick?
You'll just have to read the series!

This is a story of a love that you have to fight for!

I would highly recommend this series.

Just a side note, might want to proofread a bit better. This, for me, did not subtract from the book.

I received and ARC from LLEP in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second book in this series, and I really enjoyed this book. There was nothing but drama in the first book, and OMW it is twofold in this one.
Cat has been ostracized by her family because of Nick, and she tries to move on. Nick will do anything to get Cat back. I must say that Cat’s sister and mother were really nasty pieces of work!! This is so much more than just a love story, and I highly recommend this authors work. I look forward to Chris and Ava’s story.

CAPTIVATING, SEXY AND IMPERFECTLY PERFECT !!!
Title: Imperfections Come To Light
Series: Imperfections
Designation: Book Two, NOT A STANDALONE, NO CLIFFHANGER, HEA
Author: Shaniel Watson
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Five Completely Captivating Stars*****
Holy Cannolli! I thought Shaniel Watson's debut novel was really, really good but in the words of Tony the Tiger, her second release is GREAT! Yup, it's official; I'm totally smitten with the imperfectly perfect prose of the remarkably talented Shaniel Watson. (And yes, for anyone who has read either of the first two books in The Imperfections Series, I do realize the phrase used by Watson in the story was 'perfectly imperfect' but I'm not trying to quote or copy. I'm just stating how I feel about her unique writing style and it's definitely a compliment.) A few days ago, I was trolling for a book to read and happened upon a promotion for a free ebook download offer from Amazon. Well, that got my attention. It always does. What can I say? I love a good bargain. But it's not really a good bargain unless it's something I'll enjoy, right? So, I did my research and discovered Shaniel Watson was a relatively new author and the book being offered, Imperfections, was her debut novel. I read the blurb as well as the free sample and surprisingly, I was truly impressed. I decided to give it a whirl...and best decision EVER! I LOVED it! I knew I'd hit the jackpot with Shaniel Watson! Imperfections may have been my first time reading her work but it wouldn't be my last! As soon as I finished reading Imperfections, I raced back to Amazon to purchase the second book of the series, Imperfections Come To Light. I even preordered the third book, Imperfections Take Me As I Am, which will be available November 29, 2016. That's quite a recommendation in itself. Please allow me to state up-front, Books One and Two of The Imperfections Series are both full-length novels but are NOT standalones and should be read in conjunction with each other. I do NOT recommend reading Imperfections Come To Light (Book Two of the series) without first reading Imperfections, Book One of the Series. The first book does end with a cliffhanger but in this book, Imperfections Come To Light, we do get our ending to Nick and Cat's story. It is not a trilogy as I originally thought. The third book of the series releasing in November 2016 will feature Chris and Ava, secondary characters from the first two books, and I couldn't be happier! Woo-Hoo! Hopefully, my explanation didn't confuse anyone, so let's talk specifics about this book. Imperfections Come To Light is a riveting, emotionally gripping, sensual, well-crafted and well-edited contemporary romance with a beautifully written first-person narrative featuring clearly defined primary perspectives from the two protagonists, handsome, legal eagle and total womanizer Nick Alexander and beautiful, kindhearted kindergarten teacher Catherine 'Cat' Reed. In this book, we also have two additional brief perspectives from Cat's best friend and Nick's cousin, Ava Alexander, and Nick's mother, Allison Alexander. I was immediately drawn into this story by Nick and Ava who completely stole my heart. Yes, Nick was arrogant and a total player but he was also charming and determined with quite a few redeeming qualities. *swoon* Cat was just a real sweetheart and my heart literally broke for her. Watson not only tugged on my heartstrings with this story, she ripped my heart right out of my chest - AGAIN! I went through the entire gambit of emotions through the progression of this story, from excitement to anticipation to hopefulness to disappointment to sadness to anger, to utter and complete heartbreak and finally to great happiness and joy. I'm not ashamed to admit, I sobbed like a baby and at one point, I even flat out ugly cried. Folks, it wasn't pretty. Yet, even as the drama and turmoil continued to escalate, there was also a liberal amount of humor woven into the dialogue and I found myself cackling out loud. I loved these characters. I laughed with them, cried for them, sympathized and empathized with them. I even shook my fists in anger at the injustice of their fates. Nick and Cat were 'perfectly imperfect' but absolutely perfect together. As the story unfolded, I was drawn deeper and deeper into the lives of not only Nick and Cat, but also the entire Reed and Alexander families. There was a large cast of remarkably well-developed characters included in this story and I loved them all. I became quite attached to several of the secondary players and found myself wanting to know more about them as well. I found all of the characters to be intriguing, captivating, engaging, well-developed, realistic and relatable. The storyline for this novel is not a new one. I've read similar versions on several occasions, but I found the overall presentation of this story to be creative, imaginative, unique, and brave, especially for a new author. Watson truly surprised me on more than one occasion when she chose to take the road less traveled with several of the plot threads. I was completely gobsmacked. Yeah, there were quite a few unexpected plot twists! I would love to give details but I can't without giving spoilers and I don't do spoilers. The dialogue was smart, snappy, natural, well-executed and flowed effortlessly. The book was a whopping 327 pages long but the pages flew as did the time with my heart fluttering wildly in my chest as I became totally mesmerized by these people, their lives, and their story. Watson skillfully combines every single one of these elements to craft a delightfully entertaining read. If you're looking for a deliciously seductive contemporary saga filled to the brim with heartbreaking drama, agonizing angst, heated attraction, fiery passion, sweet romance, dreamy sex, saucy laugh-out-loud humor and a cast of magnificent characters, then this is most definitely the book for you.

Imperfections: Book One
Twenty-four-year-old Catherine Reed has finally decided it's time to return to the fold. After finishing college, proving her independence and making her own way for four years, she's ready to move back home to New York City and start a new life. And who knows, maybe that life will include the only man she's ever loved, her older brother's childhood best friend, Nick Alexander. She's known Nick almost her entire life. Nick and her brother, Chris, had been friends ever since she could remember. They were four years her senior but they still allowed her to hang around with them which was not always a good thing. Cat was the baby of the Reed family and the Reed men have always been a little overprotective of her, especially her brother Chris and friend Nick, particularly with the boys she dated which had been few and far between since Chris and Nick always scared them away. But what her family never knew, Nick had actually been her first kiss and to this very day, the only man with whom she dreams of spending her life. Unfortunately, Nick has never seemed interested in any kind of relationship with her other than one as a little sister and friend...except that one kiss. She'd made a lot of changes so maybe it's not too late to finally snag his attention. She never really counted on seeing him her first night back home and she certainly wasn't prepared for her sister Kate's big surprise announcement. She, and I don't mean Cat, and Nick are engaged...as in to be married. Wait...What? Kate and Nick had never been close. They'd never even gotten along. How could this be? Cat was stunned. Nick acted like he was actually glad to see her...almost as if he were interested in her...not Kate. Apparently, the engagement announcement has come as quite a surprise to everyone...and I do mean everyone! What's a girl to do when the man of your dreams will soon be marrying your sister? I guess we'll see!

Imperfections Come To Light: Book Two and Conclusion to Nick and Cat's Story
And we definitely saw! Our story resumes after Nick's world begins to crumble losing the two things he held most dear...his unborn child and Cat, both on Christmas night which also happens to be Cat's birthday. Sadly, Nick and Kate aren't the only ones who suffered great loss that tragic night. Cat lost everything, Nick, her entire family, her dreams, and all hope of ever having a happy future. After Kate loses the baby, it seems everyone and her brother (and I do mean that quite literally) blames Cat for her sister's miscarriage. Her entire family judges her unjustly and harshly when none of them, especially her scheming sister Kate and her hypocritical mother Candice, have any right to cast stones. Unfortunately, that doesn't stop their condemnation or malicious disparaging remarks. Jobless, low on funds and pretty much homeless after her family's denunciation, Cat turns to her best friend and Nick's cousin, Ava Alexander, for help. And as always, Ava stands by Cat, giving her love, unconditional support and a place to stay. Cat realizes there can never be a happy ending for her and Nick...not now after everything that's happened, but it doesn't stop her heart from breaking over losing her one chance to be with the only man she's ever loved. Thankfully, Nick doesn't agree. He's not ready to give up on Cat, not now...not ever. After an unexpected accident, a surprising diagnosis, an extraordinary twist of fate, and some 'slippery little suckers', Nick realizes he and Cat may still have a chance at their elusive happy-ever-after. But will he be able to convince Cat? And will they be able to avoid the destructive manipulations of all the people trying to stop them? (And oh my goodness, there were quite a few!) We'll see! No spoilers from me but I will say this...handsome womanizing playboy who is perfectly imperfect but finally realizes he has to fight for the love of his life-check! Beautiful, intelligent but very confused young woman who has been unfairly accused but is determined to stay strong-check! A fabulously funny and loyal best friend-check! A brother trying to deny an attraction-check! A friend trying to steal his girl-check! (Not sure I'd call him a friend! lol...) Two very dysfunctional families-check! Lies, deceit, manipulations, heartbreak and family drama galore-check! Outrageous humor, heated attraction, fiery passion, steamy sex, heartwarming romance, and a love that refuses to be denied-you bet! That and a whole lot more!

Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it!! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain some dreamy sex scenes and a few naughty words. There were a few minor boo-boos but nothing that distracted me from the story. Overall, it was exceptionally well-crafted and edited. The first book was filled with angst and drama but the conclusion had even more heartbreaking drama, agonizing angst, steamy sex, dreamy romance and even more humor. I sniffled, snuffled, sobbed, snickered, giggled, chuckled and outright cackled through the entire book! This series was such a breath of fresh air for this weary old soul who has read thousands and thousands of books. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! As soon as I finished the first book, I raced to Amazon to purchase the second and I've also preordered the third which will be Chris and Ava's story. (Chris is one of Cat's brothers and Ava is her BFF.) I don't want to miss a thing in this mashup of family drama! lol... And finally, was I entertained? Oh my lawd, yes! I'm not a professional reviewer but I know what I like, what I don't, and what I love, and I truly loved the first two books in this series! A review is nothing more than a personal opinion and this is my mine. My ratings are based strictly on how well I enjoyed a story and I was totally entertained. I can hardly wait to see what Shaniel Watson has in store for her readers next! Well done Ms Watson, well done, indeed! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read.
***Trigger Warning***
There are a few scenes in this book that could be construed by some folks as cheating although Nick and Cat were NOT officially together as a couple at the time. I didn't see it that way, but I felt some folks might appreciate a heads-up.

Left With Mixed Emotions

After reading book 1 of Cat and Nick's story, I couldn't wait to read the continuation in this book and wasn't left disappointed. I'm so glad I gave this series a go as I usually prefer standalones.

Cat and Nick were destined to be together even though others don't (and may never) agree. They're perfect for each other and finally got their HEA even if the journey there wasn't easy. I did feel frustrated with Nick when he decided to keep things from Cat because he decided keeping secrets were better than hurting her but she then ended up hurt anyway as secrets always have a habit of coming out. Yet, he expected complete honesty and openness from her and was angry when he didn't get it. Cat never seems to learn and goes against things she agrees with Nick or promises him. This also made me frustrated and I wanted to shout 'dont u ever learn' at her. I think Cat was left with a lot of issues from being over protected when younger and then the whole situation involving Kate, which she needs to work on. I also feel she forgives her family too easily/quickly and is so desperate to be accepted/loved by them again, that she's too willing to brush over their mistakes and even take on some of the responsibility herself when she actually didn't do anything wrong.

Ava Ava Ava. She never failed to make me laugh and the horse/spice jokes cracked me up. Cat is lucky to have her and I can't wait to see if Ava gets her HEA with Chris. I can't wait to read Ava and Chris' story as I feel it'll be completely different to Cat and Nick's.

As for Kate, I still don't like her even after she showed remorse and took some much needed steps to deal with her problems. I wasn't able to move on from the games she played in book 1 and I desperately wanted everyone to realise that Cat did nothing wrong by getting with Nick. Nobody has ever really explained to the others that Nick never planned on marrying Kate or even proposed and she set him up. Just like it never came out that Kate lied to Nick about Cat when they spoke at the party and then later slept together as mentioned in book 1. Part of me also hoped it would come out that Kate had somehow faked the DNA tests and her baby wasn't Nick's because him having got her pregnant just doesn't sit right for me and I'm disappointed that the baby was apparently his.

I enjoyed this book but I'm left feeling disappointed because some things didn't go the way I'd hoped, especially the whole Kate and her lies situation. I kept waiting for the truth to come out and for everyone to see what she was really like but it never happen. However, I think this is sometimes what makes a good book and hats off to Shaniel Watson for leaving me with lots of mixed emotions as I'm sure Cat and Nick's story will stay with me much longer than some others have because the story wasn't concluded the way I'd hoped

Struggle love is tiring.

Most of the book storyline continued on the same redundant path. Cat is more insecure, more annoying and more immature in the second installment.

How many times must Nick tells her that he love her yet Cat can’t even fix her mouth to articulate it back. Her character simply has irredeemable traits. This was an obstacle that couldn’t overlook.

She’s still looking for validation from her family who have never taken into consideration that she didn’t hurt her sister. It was like extracting teeth as Cat drone on and on and wallow in this pitiless agony just because her selfish family members can’t or won’t accept her relationship with Nick.

This book was more of Nick having to work tirelessly to be with Cat. It wasn’t enjoyable reading how much he had to grovel to this woman, who he didn’t intentionally hurt.

Please don’t get me wrong, I actually didn’t want to paint this book in a bad light, because this an author’s hard work and labor. But the novel was merely more of the same and it’s only so much you can take with a book that has manufactured drama.

I’m certain many readers would enjoy such a book. But, personally, the book is not that engrossing, character development matters in a romance book, and two books in and both characters still haven’t grown up at all. And a heavy portion of the book was basically Nick and Cat going back and forth as to why they should be together or why they shouldn’t be together. It is truly exhausting and frustrating.

Once again the second installment book is even more disappointing and not that exciting. Some things did build up, but it wasn’t that dramatic.

So in closing, if you like a book where the heroine description is obscure, one sided sloppy relationship, unwarranted family drama, high male testosterone, fighting, lying and insecurities on full display, then this series is definitely for you.

As shown on Books and Boys Book Blog.

Okay I’ll admit I was a little backwards in reading this series but after reading book one I had to jump straight into book tow to find out what happens. Shaniel Watson’s book ‘Come To Light’ was another riveting read that gets four stars.

Before you read this book you need to have read the first one to know who and what you are reading about. After finally getting together Cat and Nick need to deal with the consequences of their actions. With what seems like everyone against them and events that make it impossible for them to be together Cat and Nick need to find ways to deal with things.

Cat and Nick are really put through some difficult times and Cat again decides that its best she leave him be but it turns out she needs him too. Nick decides to fight for Cat as there is no way he can let her slip away again regardless of what everyone else says or does. Cat however needs a bit of convincing even though inside she is pining for him.

This is an emotional and dramatic read. Nick comes across as the arrogant player but with charm that disarms you and gets you falling for him too. Cat is really quite sweet and didn’t deserve what she was put through. You really bond with these characters and I am thrilled that I made myself give the first book a chance or I would have missed out on this and that great reads. I was really happy with the ending especially with being put through so many emotions.

Dear god. Halfway throughout the book I was screaming and praying that Cat leave Nick’s sorry ass behind.

I don’t understand authors where they paint their heroine this virginal angel and not have hot messy sex to other guys (like Matt) during their “break” but it’s okay for pathetic heroes to bang hot blondes because yay for alpha asshole players right?

Really really wish Cat grew a freakin backbone (and fucked Matt then have his baby) and know their worth because it’s frustrating she accept scrapes to Nick who only know how to give great orgasm and deliver the most pathetic apologies about how they don’t deserved her (which is absolutely right) and give the most horrible groveling on the planet (by hooking up with his ex)

Simply breathtaking. Shaniel' sequel to book 1 is equally as eloquent and emotive as book1. This is a story that doesn't allow you to rush, the story is spellbinding and addictive. As a reader this is a true book worshippers dream - a book that you live with, share with and watch as if within the very pages themselves. It makes you feel. You laugh at the humour, Cat's sarcasm, Ava's descriptive hell-on-wheels personality and Gages flirting. You "oh god no" with a reaction to the words that brings your hand to your mouth as you stop - nothing exists but the next words, paragraph and chapter. Alternating the narrative between the two main characters allows the readers to become biased for a happily ever after. Some authors take time to fine tune their art but Shaniel has achieved that immediately. I could gush endlessly about this book, the characters, the pace, plot etc but just buy it! Do it!

*** SPOILER ALERT ***
I read quite a few reviews, but no one said anything about the sister, KATE. So my brief review will be about her. I want to talk about what a complete BITCH of a sister Kate was. I am sorry she lost her baby, but she was a trifling ass bitch from the start. She LIED and SCHEMED to get Nick into her bed (few men say NO to sex) knowing good and well that he was in love with her sister FOR YEARS. She got pregnant and LIED AGAIN to her family about being engaged. I'm not giving Nick a pass on this; he was a damn fool for going along with her made up fantasy and enabling her.

That said, I am glad Nick & Cat got their HEA.

Couldn't put vol 1 & 2 down

This story (Vol 1&2) had me laughing and crying! Couldn't put it down.
Only problem I had was it was a cliffhanger series and you HAD to buy Vol 2 to see what happens!! (I hate that!!! 😁)
