The first discordant note was struck when pretty young music student Bridget Evans stumbled upon the strangled corpse of her wealthy benefactor, Liz Conway. The theme of terror deepened when no one believed Bridget's story about the mysterious man she saw leaving the scene of the crime. Soon even the lyric strain of love was poisoned by suspicion as Bridget discovered the charming young man who had unexpectedly appeared in her life was not who he claimed to be.
The chorus of deception and danger around Bridget rose to a deafening pitch-until her beautiful voice became a desperate scream...
Starts off a hazy, interesting mystery but then it becomes clear that the author needed a way to write-off her trip to Phoenix on her taxes and can't be assed to do much else.

I realized as I got into it that I had read this one before. The story of a girl wrongly suspected of a murder. She is a music student in New York. She goes out to Arizona and her friends go with her to help protect her. Gothic mystery feel, very dated.
