B E A U T I F U L

Mom read this as a bed time story even before I turned 10.. The book had this really horrifying pic of a hound and a man whose eyes were about to take leave from its sockets. Boy I loved it, We had a black dog and I wanted to make him breathe fire in the evening. Yes we lived in a place surrounded by green dark mountains with two houses in a 3 kilometer stretch and I wanted the dog to be the terror at night even if we didn't have a creepy Grimpen Mire anywhere.

Incredible book. can say it's my favorite Conan Doyle book and Holmes adventure. What an imagination. I didn't even mind the fast phase. It was so much fun to read. Murder, Mystery, Jealousy all at it's best. The way it's written is enough to flash all those pictures in front of your eyes while reading, after reading and even after a decade or a two. Right now, I can see the hellhound ripping the throat of Henry Baskerville in that pit and looking at the men around with flaming red eyes..

The first ever Sherlock Holmes book I read! This got me reading the series nonstop... And I have to state the fact that it is really well translated as an easy reader for even kids like me, and I never felt anything complex in the translation. Thank you Chandana Mendis sir!

Without a doubt best translation of Conan Doyle’s work to sinhala. Thia particular book is one out of the four long sherlock holms storiesand probably a best. For me this was the first sherlock holmes book i read so this was capable of making me a huge fan . Story revolves around a rich young man who inherits his family bungalow and believes that he is seen some kind of a evil dog at night. Sherlock and dr watson goest to the village to resolve the issue. You can read it in one breath

This was a re-read for me because, I truly cannot remember the story beside there is a murderous hound in it plus I read it like when I was a small kid. And OMG , It's truly is a very mysterious plot. I could not guess some scenarios , was amazed to read. well crafted, took it time to build up (kind of a slow phase ) though it was a delighted to read. Highly recommended since it was well translated by Mr Mendis ( I love his translation style )
