One Flash!: Great Photography with Just One Light

Rate this book
Amazing images are possible with just one flash! Today’s speedlights may be small but they are mighty…that is, if you know how to use them. In this book, flash photography pro Tilo Gockel teaches the secrets to capturing beautifully lit images using just one flash! The first section of the book provides a crash course in flash photography covering lighting techniques, equipment, and understanding the nuances of flash lighting. Then, through a series of 26 workshops covering everything from people to objects to food to special techniques, Tilo demonstrates how it’s done. Included are example images, lighting diagrams, setup instructions, and even post-processing tips. You’ll learn how a single flash can not only illuminate, but also add color and project patterns on a scene, and how easy it is to turn a single flash into multiple light sources using reflectors and mirrors to multiply and redirect the flash. You will also learn how to use the flash detached from the camera's hot shoe and how to repeatedly fire the flash for special effects. Tilo’s practical style and simple explanations of technology will enable you to get started quickly with flash photography and to achieve fantastic results. Topics

As the title suggests, the book is a guide how to use a single flash to create great photographs. Most of the time author shows how to use off camera flash. Also he teaches how to produce multiple light sources available during a photo shoot. If it is a sun, or a desk lamp, or a window light, you can add a flash and create beautifully lighten images. Flash helps not only to illuminate a scene or subject, but brings out patterns and colors. Flash can also be used with flags, reflectors, and mirrors. All those techniques are showed and explained in the book.

The first chapter of the book goes over flash photography, techniques and equipment. The rest of the chapters has a form of a workshop. Tilo shows how to lighten up people, objects, food, drinks.
The style in the book is simple, and beautiful images and detailed, simple illustrations help understand all the techniques. There are examples of images, lighting diagrams, setup instructions, and post-processing tips.

This a great guide to one flash photography.

This was my first purchase of an Ebook. I saw the book on several articles and it was highly recommended. after searching for a physical Copy in my local bookstores without any luck . I decided to buy an ebook although I am a fan of a paper copy.

after sifting through the pages i was mesmerized by the quality of information and the well-constructed layouts . Rocky nook seems always to do a good job in choosing the authors and the Subject materials for its books. now I am a dedicated customer and always buy the latest releases knowing that my money is going to be put into good use.
