Adam Stone is the hot, up-and-coming actor of a hit movie ... and the ex-husband of Krista Hart, partner in Moreno & Hart Investigations. He cheated on her weeks after their wedding and Krista swore she’d never see him again ... but when he wants to hire her to find out who’s stalking him, she takes the case ... against her better judgment.

Krista and her partner Scarlet Moreno drive up to an exclusive Bear Mountain resort only to learn that there’s no room reserved for them—and they’re forced to stay in Adam’s suite. The entourage that follows Adam thinks he’s overreacting, and all Adam wants to do is play; he’s not acting like the scared over-grown kid Krista had spoken to on the phone. She wants to leave ... until someone breaks into Adam’s suite.

Scarlet has her own troubles, including her obsession with the ambush that nearly killed her and Krista three years ago—and a boyfriend who has suddenly become distant and moody. But the one thing she never has a problem with is getting the truth out of dirtbags, and while Krista digs around into Adam’s life and background to find out if there is a genuine threat, Scarlet interrogates everyone who might have information—when she’s not protecting Adam from his own stupidity.

Is Adam’s alleged stalker just a publicity stunt to gain him press before his big movie premiere? Or is someone really out to get him? Who’s lying ... and who’s telling the truth? It’s up to Scarlet and Krista to not only find answers, but stop a violent plot with far-reaching consequences.

I really enjoy reading about Scarlet and Krista's antics as PIs. AB and LG do such a great job of blending their writing styles, that you just can't help but get drawn in to the mystery. Krista gets a call from her ex-airhead of an actor husband. He thinks he has a stalker and calls on Krista to save the day. Once she gets on the case, her and Scarlet soon realize that this is much worse then a fan gone wild and if they don't solve this fast, Adam may end up dead. What is up with Alex and Scarlet and when in the heck is Krista going to lay a big kiss on RJ??? Dang gurl don't keep us in suspense with that big hunk ....go for it! You know he wants you to! Will for sure be picking up the next installment, because I have to know what the heck is going on with Alex.

Private Investigating duo Scarlet Morena and Krista Hart travel to a ski lodge to help out Krista's ex-husband - an up and coming actor who thinks he's being stalked.

Unlike the previous books in this series in which each contributing author provided a separate storyline for their protagonist, the plot in this novella is one combined narrative. Although the premise has potential, the story is underdeveloped (not uncommon with novellas) and the ultimate explanation lacks foundation.

That said, there is some good character development in this installment as readers learn more about Krista's past and there is a little progression in her possible romance with rival PI R.J. Flynn. Moreover, something is up between Scarlet and her detective boyfriend, Alex Bishop. Both of these elements will apparently play out in the next and final book.

FROSTED’s storyline introduces the two protagonists, Krista Hart and Scarlet Moreno, who are at an exclusive resort working on a case involving Kirsta’s ex-husband, Adam Brock. Adam hires Moreno & Hart PI agency to find out if someone is stalking him. Griffin and Brennan give readers Krista and Scarlet’s back story. Readers come to know how Krista and Scarlet think and as the story progresses the level of trust they have in each other.

Griffin and Brennan brought support character, Adam Brock, into the storyline providing his backstory information. They add additional support characters providing each characters role in the storyline and their backstory. Krista and Scarlet’s investigation quickly determine their case involves more than someone stalking Adam. The authors change the storyline’s direction when Krista and Scarlet learn Adam’s hotel room and apartment have been ransacked. They determine who ever is watching Adam think he has something they want. Adam tells Krista and Scatlet his troubles started when he returned from a filming in Africa. When they interview Adam’s staff, Krista and Scarlet uncover details causing them concern for Adam’s safety. Griffin and Brennan skillfully keep readers off balance by adding twists and turns, placing their readers next to Krista and Scarlet when the PI’s decide to check everything Adam brought back from Africa. The results of their search along with results of staff background checks give Krista and Scarlet the direction they need to resolve their case.

The authors keep reader interest and build the momentum of the storyline increasing the level of suspense at the turn of the page. FROSTED continues Krista and Scarlet’s growth adding humor and romance to the fast moving mystery. Griffin and Brennan keep readers aware of the unsolved case that almost cost Krista and Scarlet’s life. The authors also keep readers aware of what is developing on the romance side of things for Krista, RJ, and Alex. FROSTED keeps reader interest in mystery and romance providing a great read.

Frosted gives us some more insight into Krista Hart's past when her ex husband contacts her PI agency for help when he feels he's being stalked.

This time around the book is not told in two separate stories. We get both Scarlet and Krista's view through out one story. Scarlet jumps at the case as upcoming movie star Adam Brock paid up front and he's is paying for rooms for them at the Bear Mountain resort. Krista on the other hand isnt so excited to see the man she married right out of college who ended up cheating on her.

When they get to the resort the two at first think its going to be an easy case of finding a stalker and Scarlet is hoping for some time on the slopes. As they interview Adam they realize there may be something larger going on.

Its nice to read a book where two women are the main characters and their tightly bonded friendship at the forefront. Scarlet and Krista work well together and have each other's back in any situation – they explicitly trust each other which is not something they give to many people including the men in their lives.

This was another good mystery that has a twist, plenty of humor and still lots of frustration as far the relationships between Scarlet and Alex and Krista and RJ go.

Can't get enough of this series! Wish the authors would write faster! Lol! Moreno and Hart are partners in a P. I. firm. They once worked together as cops but after an ambush where Scarlet got shot, they decided to go into business for themselves. In this latest case, they head up into the mountains where Krista is meeting her ex, a movie star. She'd moved on after he couldn't remain faithful, although they'd both been really young at the time. Although she isn't thrilled about seeing him again, Scarlett is convinced they need his business. Apparently, he's being stalked.

At first the girls have to wonder if it's some kind of publicity stunt but then Adam's room is broken into and his apartment back home is ransacked. There are a myriad of suspects at the resort but first Scarlett and Krista have to figure out the motive behind the attacks. Krista' s current beau shows up to make things interesting and Scarlett is having serious doubts about her relationship with her beau, Alex.

This was a short but entertaining read, fast paced and loaded with enough intrigue to keep me turning the pages. Can't wait until the next full length novel comes out in January.

I thought that the case that Krista and Scarlet worked was funny. I will say that a little of Adam went a long way. Scarlet's description of his as a golden retriever was spot on. Being that he is exactly what you see if was easy for people to take advantage of him. Good think that Krista and Scarlet were able to figure things out. I liked what both women learned from the men in their life. I have a reason that Scarlet is right, Alex is hiding more, it will be interesting to see what.

2.5 as a standalone story; I rounded up. Frosted is a novella, #2.5, in the Hart & Moreno series by Allison Brennan & Laura Griffin. I very much enjoyed the 3 longer books in this series and now want to reread the conclusion, book #3, Lost & Found again.

As a short novella, Frosted has a a beginning; developed main characters, Private investigators, Hart & Moreno; a plot; and an ending. I recommend it as an “addition” to the other books in the series. I believe it is in book #3, Lost & Found, however, that the series conclusion takes place. Therefore, IMO, Frosted is fine as a book that provides backstory on Hart’s “5 minute” marriage, and what went wrong there, but it doesn’t really read well as a standalone novella.

Other books in this series are: 1) Crash & Burn, 2) Hit & Run, 2.5) Frosted, and 3) Lost & Found - together they comprise a delightful series. There are no sexual scenes in Frosted, but profanity is used in the latter portion of the book.

Trust Your Gut

Krista and Scarlet are on a case together for the whole book and I loved it!! I liked the traveling, teamwork, attention to Krista’s background and the focus on their changes and potential relationships. RJ and Alex have little time in this story, but still impactful with big statements and moments. The stalker of this story and the reason for the stalking took me by surprise. It was not who I thought at all. This one has a lot of light hearted moments and some great teasers for the next book and the potential of what is Alex and Her brother doing to be acting odd (I think it has to do with who shot her)!

I didn't realize this was a novella. I felt a little lost on the relationships! It was an OK story, but as in almost all novellas, the ending wrap up is quick. Have now downloaded the 2nd book, so I can catch up.

I liked the other stories by these authors, but this one was too annoying because of the simpleton character, Adam. Waste of the authors' talents. DNF.

Frosted is a fun winter themed novella in Allison Brennan and Laura Griffin’s fun Moreno and Hart series. Krista Hart’s ex-husband believes he has a stalker and calls Moreno and Hart for help. Initially reluctant to get involved with her ex, Krista and Scarlet finally agree to take the case. Not surprisingly, the case is not a simple stalking case. Brennan and Griffin have found their groove with this series. The characters seamlessly interact and the novella is a single story with solid appearances by both women. The action is fast paced. The suspense is light, but it fits the tone of the book and the series overall. There are several unresolved issues in both women’s personal life at the end of the book. I’m hopeful they will be picked up fairly quickly in the next installment. If you haven’t read the first books in the series this isn’t a bad place to start. However, the initial characterization and building of the partnership of Moreno and Hart is well-defined in the earlier installments and adds to the richness. If you haven’t read either author this series is a great introduction to both. If you are looking for a quick read this is a good choice. I highly recommend this series, as well as both author’s solo efforts.

I'm usually not a fan of novellas, but I so love both Allison and Laura's romantic suspense work that I will read anything by them. Seriously, they could scribble something on a napkin, and I'd be all over it.

Stoked to finally have Moreno and Hart back (their last outing was July 2014) for this novella, and for a full-length novel (LOST AND FOUND) in January--they're totally badass, kickass, and all-around awesome. Throughout the first two books in the series, I feel like we've gotten a better sense for Scarlet as a character (her personality, her motivations, her relationships), but FROSTED is all about Krista's backstory--and what an interesting (and entertaining) backstory it is. FROSTED is a fun, fast-paced, mildly suspenseful romp that reacquaints readers with two great characters and sets up their future exploits and tribulations. With Laura and Allison's skills with the written word, it makes for a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours and both whet the appetite for and tide us over until January.

Looking forward to more Moreno & Hart!

I always love Allison Brennan and Laura Griffin. This novella was no different. An easy, quick read, it still captured the personalities of the main characters as well as the secondary characters and the conflicts between them. Krista Hart's ex-husband shows up in this story believing he is being stalked. A movie star on the rise, he is mister nice guy to everyone and trusts them all. Krista and Scarlet find that he is being stalked but when they find out why, they all become a target. This short story still captures all the suspense needed to make it a can't-put-down read.

This story was wonderful. A nice, quick read that was suspenseful and funny. I really enjoy the Moreno and Hart series featuring these two authors. Since it was a quick read, there really isn't anything to summarize...just that these authors are highly recommended.

So so storyline. Instead of two mini stories, this book is one story written alternatively by two authors. Surprisingly, this works better than previous full-length books in terms of cohesiveness and consistency. Nothing jarring at all when switching from one heroine's POV to another's. 3 stars
