Lyric and Melody Russo might be twins, but you’d never know – if they didn’t look exactly alike. Lyric is fed up of constantly being criticized and compared to her “Miss Goody Two Shoes” sister. While she rides the rollercoaster of life, she battles with depression, jealousy and even questions her sexuality. Meanwhile, Melody is busy being everyone’s favorite and keeping her halo straight. While Lyric yearns for attention from her family, she barely graduates from high school. With her attention focused on the wrong things, she gets mixed up in some crazy situations. In the process, her shiny collection of gold bangles continues to grow. Although, very beautiful and spoiled by many lovers, Lyric remains unhappy. As summer comes to a close, Melody prepares for life at the university. On a whim, Lyric decides to apply to community college. Lyric’s life goes from bad to worse in a twist of events that will leave her heart severely damaged. Will the love of her distant sister save Lyric…from herself?

Bangles and Broken Hearts is the second novel I've read by author Tamia Gore-Felton. I previously read Kandee's Crush and had mixed reviews; so I was pleasantly surprised how much I genuinely liked the first installment of the Bangles series. It's clear Tamia (the author) definitely has a signature writing style- minimal dialogue and from a first person narrative. However, she's very detailed and descriptive which draws you in to the stories she creates. In Bangles, we're introduced to young femme fatale Lyric, one half of identical twin sisters. While they look alike on the outside, they can not be more different in personality and lifestyles. Her sister Melody is the smart, focused, family favorite while Lyric is the carefree, boy (and occasionally girl) crazy, wild child. The book reads like a private journal documenting Lyric's senior year in high school and the tumultuous years that follow. You're front row to the drama that continuously unfolds with Lyric's numerous relationships and her sister. Family dynamics change and you see the epic evolution of the Russo twins. Bangles and Broken Hearts is simply a page turner from start to finish and Tamia Gore-Felton definitely left me wanting more!
I love this book, it's a great book by a great person Mrs. Felton did a great job and it's making me write more than I should and creating my own little book
My first read from this Author. Started off kind of slow for me, but then after the 3rd chapter! I'm like damn okay. I appauled Lyric for finding herself in the time of brokenness. I really wished that she would have taken her sister's problem more serious and Help her. Can't wait to see what the next Read read from this Author has to offer
