Road Captain of the Devil's Dust Motorcycle Club, Bobby has the scars to prove just how dangerous his life is. He gives the world he knows hell and loves every moment of it. Wearing a panty-dropping grin along the way, his fierce life has never been a problem for him, until her. Jessica is the only female who has him distracted in his game. After taking him to bed, she's the only woman to tell him to take a hike. Waking with her gone, he can't resist her pull. He's seen the marks on her body, ones which tell the horrors she's lived through. He's also seen the fear in her eyes when she lets herself become weak to his advances. Bobby has a decision to make. Can he help Jessica, or will it mean giving up his carefree life? Jessica, also known as Doc, lives life in fear. Years back, she ran to the Devil's Dust for protection, seeking the demise of her abusive, dominant husband. Her mind and soul tortured by her past, she can't allow herself to move forward. The only thing in her sight is her daughter's safety. Even if she has the attention of one particular tattooed biker, she can't succumb to his charm and drag her daughter back into a world of danger, no matter how much he thinks he can save her. Mistakes will be made. Fears will be faced. Pain will be remembered. Can Bobby and Jessica survive the dangers they bring upon themselves?

Lust like a saint, trust like a sinner….
The Fear That Divides Us was both invigoratingly satisfying and intriguing, as it delivered more than I could ever have had expected from this novel!!
It tells the story of Doc and Bobby-- my ultimate favorite and albeit quintessential “mystery couple” throughout this series’ run!! *woohoo! Finally!!*♥
Jessica Wren is on the break from a bad marriage. Running to Devil’s Dust MC, she propositions a deal in exchange of services- if they can ensure demise of her abusive husband for her and her daughter’s protection, then in return, she’ll provide her medical expertise and discretion to their club.
Now years later—
Jessica has sworn off all romantic endeavors with men and will not ever be caged in by the qualms of a relationship.
She spends her days working at the hospital and her nights split between spending time with her daughter and tangling the sheets with Devil’s Dust MC’s badboy Road Captain, Bobby.
But that’s all she wants from this badboy biker man. Sex. And nothing more. No feelings, no emotions, and definitely no dating. Period.
So Bobby.
Bobby Whitfield has always held a torch for the mysterious doctor ever since that night she stepped in his club seeking refuge. The only woman who’s ever rebuffed his advances and more, Doc may be the one who’s just been waiting for. And probably, the only woman who’s given him the most heartache.
What will happens when slowly but surely, what started off as a casual fling, turns out to be something Jessica most feared of most? Love.
Will she give in to her haunted past and let it plague her from moving forward? To give a second chance at something real?
And with an unexpected threat seeking penance and retribution on her, and another endangering the lives of Devil’s Dust MC and Bobby, can Jessica submit to her true feelings and emotions for Bobby and muster up her courage to take control of her fears head on before it’s too late?
Can Bobby aid Jessica heal old hurts and wounds and break down those rules she’s kept so solidly implemented between the two of them? Can he penetrate that impenetrable wall she’s built so highly around herself and find a place within her heart?
Or are some things really not meant to be?
Couple things are for sure—
Painful truths will be unmasked. Hearts will be on the chopping block. Blood will be spilled. And some rules, well, some are truly just meant to be broken....
#Loved this page-gripping fourth installment!! I really hope that Phillip “Lip” and Cherry will have their own story next as I’m dying to see what’s in store for them!
I know that Bobby is a wonderful man to Jessica. But after his manwhoring through books one and two, it was hard to see him as a one-woman kind of man. Even in this book, he's having unprotected sex with Jessica while also having sex with club bunnies, sorority girls and strippers. Jessica knows this and doesn't care because she's terrified to "fall in love.” They do this for at least SEVEN YEARS. (It's really hard to keep track of timeline in these books because the author is so inconsistent book to book.) He does admit in one of the previous books that one of the club bunnies gave him crabs. I guess Jessica wasn't his doctor on call for that visit.
It does surprise me how much I liked this couple, and ultimately they were really perfect for each other. I just had a really hard time wrapping my mind around how many hundreds of women he was having sex with, while also apparently falling for Jessica. I understand she kept pushing him away, but it was hard to really consider this a romance. Every time he would moan, growl, or pant after another woman, I would get mad on her behalf. I guess if Jessica didn't care, why should I?
I wanted so much more from Bobby and Doc's story! It wasn't bad or anything, it was just... average. It was that cute, fast but pretty forgettable book.
Ah well, could have been worse. At least it wasn't bad!
I am loving this series and spent today reading about Bobby and Jessica and pretty much holding my breath waiting for the other shoe to drop because I just knew something bad was gonna go down...and it did...several times. These two "sometimes lovers" had it bad for each other...chemistry to the max...but both were afraid to commit for different reasons. It was awesome to see them fight to be together for real and watch Jessica gain some strength after the horrendous abuse she suffered at the hands of her husband. Bobby proved to be the man who would do anything to protect her and would lay down his life and freedom. Another exciting and satisfying chapter in the Devil's Dust MC series and I am looking forward to Lip and Cherry's book.

The Fear That Divides US by M.N. Forgy is one gritty MC romance book. One word to describe this book is INTENSE. The emotional and physical aspect of this book were so RAW that you could feel the connection of Bobby and Jessica.
We all know Jessica aka The Doc as practically the clubhouse doctor. But what we don't know is that Jessica Wren, lives everyday in fear. Fear of the past that continues to haunt and plague her daily life from truly moving on. Fear that resulted when she was abused physically and emotionally from her ex-husband. A fear of control. A fear of letting someone in. A fear of submitting. But all that changes, when she meets Bobby, the road captain of Devil Dust MC. From the first time, he met Jessica he was drawn to her. He would do anything for her. He would even kill for her. So when Bobby finally pushes Jessica to let him in, he makes it his mission to make her see that sex and intimacy doesn't have to be scary especially with him. He makes her see that behind the scars she is beautiful inside and out. The physical scars may remain but Bobby slowly erases the memories of the scars of Jessica's heart. Can Jessica finally let go of her fears and trust Bobby with her heart, body and soul?
The aspect of TRUST is one of the biggest underlying theme in this book. The trust that Jessica gives Bobby is one of the most beautiful moment in this book. The trust to let go of the fears is really an emotional journey. What I love about Bobby is he doesn't see the scars, he sees Jessica. He sees the woman he loves. He see the woman who own his heart. He sees his future in her. Though this book mainly focuses on their relationship, there is plenty of behind the scenes MC drama, violence, drama, and grit that occurs. The Fear that Divides Us was another great installment to this series. M.N. Forgy once again wrote an MC Romance book that is filled with suspense, action, grit and steam that will surely have you entertained.
"There is something about that chick, the way she looked at me, the way she made me feel like…like the fucking world as I knew it had been upside down, and suddenly went right side up when she walked in."
Bobby! Bobby! BOBBY!
You loving, caring, sexy, beautiful man! I couldn't get enough of your Prince Charming self. You made THIS Jessica giddy with happiness with how much you loved and protected Doc.
Let me gather some of my thoughts, make never ending teasers, and just daydream about a blue eyed, blonde haired, rugged, funny, biker boy.
I have been looking forward to Bobby and Jessica's story since book #1. I knew he was a funny guy, but I had NO IDEA he was this protective and caring.
And absolutely LOVED Jessica "Doc"! I knew she had a tough life before she met Bobby and the rest of the MC but never did I think her life was THAT horrible. (Sidenote: I had to breathe slowly because the prologue and the bits and pieces Jessica would confide throughout the story, really got to me. My own person reasons.)
The dynamic between Bobby and Jessica was unique. They had a mix of everything: sweetness, playful banter, of course protectiveness, but above all, they had some crazy, sexy, HOT chemistry.
The only smidge of a problem that I had with this book is that I read it WAY TOO FAST. Oh, and I needed a longer epilogue with more interactions with Addie. (Talk about how sexy a hot, biker boy looks being a dad) One that told me that Prince Charming took his hot ass Princess into the rugged sunset and lived happily ever after with Addie, there two other rugrats and a German Shepherd named Max. (Clearly, I live in an MC romance world.)
Now, let's talk about that next book that is coming out after this one...
"Don't fear the pain; fear the message behind it."
The Fear That Divides Us held me down from the very first page. The beginning was so intense and raw I had to step back for a bit and gather myself before I could continue.
Gosh, Jessica’s journey was so rough to see. I've meet her in the previous books in the series but I never thought of the emotional and physical fear she bared after leaving the tortuous relationship with her ex-husband. M.N. Forgy did a magnificent job of conveying her pain. This woman was so broken on the inside that every day was a struggle. She existed, tormented by fear and afraid to actually live, but through it all she learns to trust Bobby as she gives him her heart.
Bobby. I loved Bobby from book 1 but being inside his mind gave me free reign to love him a little more. He paints the image of being a womanizing ladies’ man, when in reality he’s so sweet, caring, and will sweep you right off your feet. He’s a man who also battles his own demons but he fights for what he wants. He’s wanted Jessica from the very first moment he laid eyes on her and he waited to finally have her. He saw her for who she really was; he looked past her scars and he showed us that he too was afraid to put his heart on the line.
M.N. Forgy takes us on a journey of learning to trust, of giving someone control, of healing and acceptance. This book not only held romance, it also had its moments of grit, action, suspense, and violence as the reader is transported into the world of the MC. It was truly a beautiful story with the perfect balance of everything.
PS: Dear M.N. Forgy, I WANT. I NEED. Leo's story!!!
Loved it!! This series just kept getting better and better with each story. Bobby and Jessica are hot and stubborn. Stubborn for good reasons though. Really enjoyed the whole series.
Jessica needed help and was willing to trade services But what could one desperate on the run doctor offer a rowdy bunch of bikers? Bobby the Road Captain of the Devil’s Dust Motorcycle Club, fell for the doc and her daughter the first moment he saw them. The stunning blond has so many hangs ups regarding relationships even Oprah Winfrey would turn to Dr. Ruth! Rule one: don't fall in love. Two: always keep your distance so no personal attachments are formed. Three scratch that Billy always did love breaking rules.
MN Forgy does it again. This one could be my favorite out of the Devil's Dust Series.
We met Bobby and Doc in the last books. Their chemistry was undeniable. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. Bobby is the 'player' of the MC, he has the good looks, charm that will knock your clothes off. Doc's past is touched on briefly in the series, but we didn't get the gritty details of what she endured, the reason why she needed The Devils Dust to begin with.
Forgy always gives me every feeling. Bobby's pov is written spot on, I could totally picturing the words coming out of a man's mouth. Doc's past kept me glued to the pages, I love dark books, so this was icing on the cake for me. I think the title fit the story and the characters were written beautifully. Bobby was so much more than I imagined, there was a depth to him that I could feel. Forgy touched on a very sensitive subject, I think she did an amazing job portraying a woman trying to overcome the fear of abuse. What is really means to live again.
The Devil's Dust kinda feels like family. I await the next in the series.
There’s a message from Bobby. Bobby: Naked? I should tell him I am wearing tan granny panties, and a nightgown my grandmother gave me. See if that gets him all hot and bothered. But knowing Bobby, it probably would turn him on.
THE FEAR THAT DIVIDES US is another great installment in THE DEVIL'S DUST series. In this we get the history behind Bobby and Jessica's relationship. We get glimpses of them in the first two stories and know that they have a complicated relationship but we aren't told why Jessica and Bobby haven't formed an official bond.
Jessica is a smart and loving woman who gets caught in an extremely abusive marriage. At her breaking point Jessica takes her young daughter and runs literally leaving everything that she owns behind. After having her life so ruthlessly controlled by her ex husband Jessica is determined to not live a life where she has to worry for the safety of both herself and her daughter. After making a deal with the MC she is finally free to create a better life for herself and her daughter.
Bobby instantly felt a sense of protectiveness towards Jessica and her young daughter when they showed up at the MC's door. Although he was just a young prospect at the time Bobby willingly inserted himself into Jessica's life and was determined to make sure that she could live free and safe.
Because of her abuse Jessica has taken on the policy of never becoming attached to any man. Jessica also has some pretty severe sexual hang ups because of the abuse that she suffered by her husband's hands. Bobby is willing to do whatever he can to help put her back together if Jessica can just find enough trust to open herself up to him. I have to admit when I read what he was going to try to do I wasn't convinced that it would be believable. However, the way that Forgy writes she made me want to believe that somehow love, compassion, and tenderness from a partner who has your best interest at heart can do what therapy and medication couldn't for Jessica.
As always with a DEVIL'S DUST book there is plenty of steam, some bad ass biker shenanigans, and a bit of drama that helps move the story along.
**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**
Far fetched not really a spoiler Loved this book on the second read. Hey,,,,,,docs mom had a Leo and Bull's name is Leo and his dad was in the club too Oh goodie I hope so...she sounds like a pisser
Bobby is the nice guy of the Devil's Dust MC. He may be a man-whore but he respects women. The night he met Jessica his outlook completely changed. She was different from the rest of the women he's ever met. He wanted to protect her from what she was running from, save her from evil, and he went to extremes to do just that. Over the next six year though, she won't let him in and he's tired of letting her go.
Jessica comes to the Devil's Dust MC for salvation. Her husband is a horrible human being and she needs to free herself and young daughter from his grasp. She knows that she and Bobby have a connection but refuses to let love in because of what she went through in her horrible marriage. After deciding to do just that, live with her feelings, she knows she needs Bobby to survive in this life.
I love MC books, they're kind of my thing. I signed up for this ARC without the knowledge that it was book 3 in the Devil's Dust MC series but it was the perfect standalone. I'll probably read the previous books but I'm satisfied with how this started and ended. There were many grammatical errors in this book that really turned me off. As a perfectionist in my writing, I believe in many proofreads of a book. This could have used a final edit. But, it didn't take away from the story and how the characters felt for eachother.
One of my favorite finds of 2015,The Devil's Dust series is one of those epic MC romances that leaves you begging for the next installment. In The Fear That Divides Us it's Bobby's turn and he was a character that I fell head over heels for in the first two books. Even though we know he ends up with Jessica I could not wait to get their story and it was everything I had anticipated it would be.
Bobby is just your sweet fun-loving guy who immediately falls for Jessica the moment he see's her when she comes into his club looking for protection years ago. They have their casual hook-ups since the attraction is there but Jessica still lives in fear from an abusive past and her only priority is her daughter. Bobby tries everything he can to cross paths with her while trying to wear her down to spend time with him.
I am so smitten with Bobby that I just wanted to see him finally get the girl so,I absolutely adored this book.It was great being with the club again and like the other books in this series, Forgy writes one hell of a story. Now, when does book four release because I need MORE of the Devil's Dust!
The club is at it again. Bobby takes care of business when Jessica comes to the club for help to get away from her sadistic abusive husband. There's a lot of back and forth with these too as Jessica is afraid to commit because of what her husband did.
Danger finds her again and she realizes that she and Bobby do love each other.
This was a quick audio listen… less than 9 hours (I think) so it was a quick TBR to knock off my list.
I loved Bobby from the start. We were introduced to him in Book 1… he was sweet and caring and funny. Not grumpy or the typical a-hole we normally read about. Doc was, eh. She definitely had trauma from horrible abuse but I didn’t think her excuses made sense while her actions were opposite. I’m so over the annoying FMC… Nonetheless, it was worth the read or in this case, listen.
Do I recommend? Yes (if you like hot biker guys who fall first 😏) Side note: If you have Audible, this one is listed in the free catalog… the entire series is available.
I definitely enjoyed Bobby and Doc’s story more than Dani and Shadow’s. Suspense and a bit of action in the mix of them accepting their feeling for each other made this a very entertaining read.
4.5 stars It’s not perfect (I could occasionally hear typos and incorrect wording despite listening to the audiobook), but it’s damn entertaining and sexy as hell!!!
I always feel really anxious going into an MC romance book as some of them are quite brutal and laden with so much angst and emotional chaos that my insides feel twisted and coiled by the end of it all. I’m not ashamed to admit I’m a wimp and like my MC novels relatively tame but with M.N Forgy’s newest book in her MC series I seemed to have struck a really terrific balance in getting the two. Don’t get me wrong, my emotions went through the wringer with Bobby and Jessica as they waged their hard fought battle to happiness and there are some heavy issues to be dealt with particularly the horrendous sexual and physical violence Jessica suffers at the hands of her sadistic bastard of a husband and it is certainly not smooth sailing to a HEA with badass self-proclaimed commitment-phobe Bobby but the journey we go through to get to that point is so exhilarating and dramatic with a timeline of events that was well paced and realistic.
Jessica shows up at the MC compound one morning battered and bruised offering to strike a deal with the club in order to receive sanctuary- she will doctor them in exchange for protection; a club that Bobby is a part of and when he sees Jessica for the very first time he immediately wants her and so begins years of a non-exclusive, hit it and quit it type of relationship between our two main protagonists. What I really relished was the unique dynamic of Bobby and Jessica, Jessica was the one in control, the one who didn’t want a relationship but was quite happy to hook up with the sexy biker when the fancy took although Bobby is fairly happy with that arrangement himself or so he tries to convince himself anyway. He may come across as a go-with-the-flow, take whatever is offered cliched manslut but he hides his true feelings and the depth of emotion he feels for Jessica, someone he’s wanted for years. When he decides to help his woman get past her fears and insecurities brought about by her PTSD we see the dynamic shift and change and a well of emotions bubble to the surface cementing these two as another unforgettable literary couple.
‘I breathe deeply as his hands slide along the scars of my back tenderly, but my body doesn’t tense and my mind doesn’t ficker with distressed memories of what was. I smile, the feeling of Bobby’s fingers caressing my imperfection welcoming instead of suffocating.’
The whole book was so well written and different to any MC book I’ve delved into in the past. It had everything I wanted and some things I didn’t know I needed like the added trepidation of not knowing how things were going to play out, the unpredictability and struggles the characters face is what gives the book clout and the hero and heroine a chance to shine and prove their worth in the readers eyes. It was the first book I’ve read in this series but it was very easy to follow and can be read as a stand alone. The dialogue was perfect, the action and club dealings violent and riveting and the sex scenes erotic (sexy hard ass bikers have that effect) but above all the love story had me hanging on until the very end, it was sweet without being saccharine sweet and had enough trouble and hardship in it to keep it grounded.
Regardless of what word is used to describe it, fear is an all-consuming feeling; it’s a darkness within one’s psyche that can torment and fracture. It’s domineering and intolerant. It wants to claim anyone it can get its hands on, and if it does, its hold his strong and unrelenting.
This has been Jessica “Doc” Wren’s life for as long as she can remember. She’s never free from it. It cages her in, chains her to her protective shell…her routine of nothingness. It controls every aspect of her life to the point that she doesn’t truly know how to live freely anymore. Jessica’s mind is constantly in charge, never allowing her heart to take over again because it hasn’t done anything to make her life easier.
Devils Dust MC’s Road Captain, Bobby, knows how to live life free and easy. He finds freedom on his bike, with his club, and the women he uses for pleasure. Bobby is definitely a player, but he’s also fiercely loyal and protective, and ever since Jessica walked into his club with her daughter asking for help, he’s been hers, even if neither of them truly understood the depth of that connection until much later.
Bobby wants to show Jessica how to live…how to understand that pain and pleasure can be intoxicating not frightening, but more importantly, Bobby wants to have Jessica trust him enough to let go and give herself to him in a way that will thwart the divide between them and break apart the fear that surrounds Jessica’s life.
I’ve been waiting for Bobby’s story since meeting him in Shadow and Dana’s books, and I wanted to understand the dynamics between him and Jessica as well as Doc’s backstory.
M.N. Forgy definitely delivers in The Fear that Divides Us. It’s an emotional read due to the depth of Jessica’s scars and how her fear limits her breathing freely. Jessica’s an incredibly strong heroine, but she’s also fragile and needs to be handled with care at times…needs a safe place to land…a haven of sorts, which is exactly what Bobby becomes for her.
Jessica and Bobby’s ever changing relationship dominates the story with an infusion of steam, suspense, and character growth, which works well for the text because the history that exists between them requires close investigation, and it’s what makes The Devil’s Dust book 3 a must read!

4.5 poison apples (The Fairest of All Book Reviews)
Bobby, Bobby, Bobby. I knew there was a reason I loved you in Shadow and Dani's story. And now I know it's because of Jessica (Doc).
I love how M. N. Forgy writes this series. The guys in the MC are bad ass and when they're single, they will screw any club whore that walks by them. But once these men commit, they commit. No one proves that point more than Bobby.
He fell from Jessica when she came to the MC to help her escape her abusive husband. From the moment he laid eyes on her, he took personal responsibility to ensure the safety of both Jessica and her young daughter. And when Jessica came to him for sex, he took her any way her could get her...even when he wanted to much more. Jessica pushed his buttons and there were times when I thought Bobby just might say he's had enough, but he never could truly walk away from the only woman he's ever loved.
Jessica survived hell and she was rebuilding her life on her own terms, but she sometimes took things to the other extreme. The one man that made her feel safe was the one that she generally pushed away in an effort to protect herself. It wasn't until Bobby said he was done with whatever it was they were doing that she realized what she was about to lose that she decided to start making a change. When she finally opens up to that and what she could have with Bobby, you can see Jessica start to become a different woman. One more confident in every aspect of her life and willing to trust again.
For anyone who likes MC romances, this is definitely one that you need to pick up.
Agh! I have been waiting a LONG time for Bobby & Jessica's story & I was so not disappointed! Bobby, is such a cocky little bastard one second & then has you all teary eyed with your bottom lip puffed out the next! If you have read the previous Devils Dust Series books then you know a little about the history these two have..
Jessica is the MC's doctor, she made a trade of services for protection 6 years prior. Bobby was instantly drawn to Jessica..
"I can’t look away. This damaged woman, who holds a beauty like no one I have seen before, intrigues me."
Within those 6 years, there has been some "friends with benefits action" but Jessica is so terrified to fall for another man that she puts major distance between them constantly.
"I’d rather have what I can of her, than nothing at all."
Jessica's ex-husband did a number on her. They hint in previous books about her abusive past, but I never imagined it being SO horrendous. My heart broke for this woman, reading about the things she had to endure. So even though I wanted to shake the shit out of her for not seeing this amazingly, protective, strong man right in front of her face, I understood on some level WHY she had so many barriers around her heart.
"I don’t want love. It starts out like something out of a fairy tale sure, but it ends like a horror movie."
Full review will be on my Blog by morning! 3fictionalhearts.wordpress.com
The push & pull in this book drove me insane. I want you, go away, sleep with me, let me have a stripper sandwich, help me, I can do this on my own... GAH! Just get the frak together already!!
Bobby... I admire your pursuit of Jessica but you constantly commenting on other women's looks & how you wanna f*ck them (even though you don't wanna give up on Jessica) was a BIG turn-off. And taking the stripper to the restaurant? WTF were you thinking?!! #Idjit
Jessica... You're a doctor. You know that condoms aren't 100% effective against STDs yet you go bareback with Bobby even while he's f*cking a slew of other women when he's not f*cking you. #Gross Oh, & one more thing... You think Zane & Addie's age gap will never let them be together? You obviously don't read MC novels, do you?
Not my most favorite of epilogues but it was a satisfactory happy for now ending.
So excited to get on to the next book in the series, The Lies Between Us. A ton of my bookworm buddies say Cherry & Lip's story is their absolute favorite!! :)
Oh Ms Forgy I think this is your best to date. I literally inhaled this story. I loved every word of it. Although we met Jessica 'Doc' and Bobby in previous stories this is their story and what a story it is too. Each story can be read as a standalone but in my honest opinion you gotta read them all.
When Jessica went to Devils Dust MC Club for protection for her daughter and herself.in return for their protection she gave them her medical experience. Bobby a brilliant character. We see how hard he breaks down her walls and tries to get her trust. These two are fantastic together.
Jessica's story is raw and gritty. The author certainly knows how to write an emotional read. I absolutely loved this story.
Okay I loved this series, this book got a little tiresome towards the middle only because I felt sorry for Bobby and just wanted it all to happen for him much quicker. All good things come to those who wait I guess but I have never been one for patients ;) This book was also lacking a bit of the suspense that I have come to love about this series it had a little but not much. Looking forward in reading what comes next for the Devil's Dust MC.
This IMO, was the slowest book that I have read by M.N. Forgy. I really didn't start getting into it, or liking it until about 60% in. The characters were likable enough, but just couldn't hold my interest. This was not as good as the others in this series, which I thought unfortunate, because I had really liked both the H/h in the previous books.
