Bass’ characters are lovable, complicated and flawed…which is to say, deeply human. Snappy prose and cleverly crafted plot lines elevate the rom-com tropes, striking the perfect balance between the laugh-out-loud funny and the heart-wrenchingly sad. ... In this heartfelt tribute to love and loss, Bass vividly captures aging, fresh starts, and the sort of ride-or-die friendships everyone wishes they had. Readers looking for a good laugh or cry (or both) in this fizzy page-turner won’t be disappointed. Sizzling, sharp, and hilarious.

“HAPPY HOUR is a sparkling novel with one of the bravest, most fascinating heroines you'll ever meet. Elissa Bass has created indelible characters, psychologically rich and true. She writes with wit and irony, with an open heart, and with the ability to make this poignant story in a seductive seaside setting read like a thriller. I couldn't stop turning the pages, and I'll admit that I was beaming through tears more than once. HAPPY HOUR has just become one of my favorite novels!"
~ Luanne Rice, NYT bestselling author

"Effervescent, poignant and full of hard-won humor, Elissa Bass’s HAPPY HOUR is everything you want from a summer (or fall, winter, spring) read. You’ll finish the last page with the warm glow of a 'happy hour' well spent, but not soon forgotten."
~ Megan Abbott, NYT bestselling author of DARE ME and THE TURNOUT

I've finally found an informative book about e-cigarettes for my middle school library. This book is highly accessible to middle level students and gives unbiased, thorough information about the e-cigs history, culture, benefits, risks, and current measures that may influence the device's future.

It does NOT tell you how to make your own e-liquid, thank goodness. It DOES explain that e-cigs have been used to smoke an odorless marijuana liquid (which I did not appreciate, but I'm just saying it's very thorough). Even though the book is part of a "Dangerous Drugs" series, it does not try to persuade against its use, but as a result of being totally informed by this book, anyone would be able to see that vaping is not "harmless."

It is a very informative book that goes very deep into the history and invention of e-cigarettes. It is very well thought out and clear. In addition, it has many drawings, pictures, quotes, and sketches to show what is being talked about in the book. Next, it was very detailed on what happened and went in chronological order which was very nice for learning the history. Finally, it talked about what e-cigarettes are like now how they became a part of the American market.
