This book is entitled I Learned because as a child, I struggled with English and school in general. From the time that first pencil was placed in my hand, I'd draw or I'd tap out a rhythm on my desk. My love of art and music were immediate; words came later. As an adult, I found I could put an abstract spin on life, finding a story in a drop of water or joy in a tear. Using words, I could make the complicated simple or the simple complicated, eventually having fun with the same language that had almost defined me as mentally challenged.
