We all have secrets. Dominic promised me a life in the light when he said “I do.” After spending months as his prisoner, chained to his bed, and beholden to his every desire, he promised me a lifetime spent making it up to me, proving how sorry he was.
Secrets have the power to tear us apart. As things from our past continued to be revealed, Dominic was harboring secrets of his own—descending further into the darkness. Except, this time I wasn’t welcomed into the shadows with him.
The man who slept in my bed and looked like my husband had become nothing more than an apparition of the man I fell for, and I feared the day I would wake to find even the ghost of him missing. Dominic had already captured me, body and heart. Could I afford to lose my soul, too? I had a choice to make—I could stay and risk losing myself in him completely, or go and save myself the heartache of his inevitable fall. What choice would you make?
Cee Smith is a lover of the written word. Since first learning how to string a sentence together, she’s been putting pen to paper and hasn’t looked back. Though she’s no longer obsessed with blood and gore, the dark side still calls to her, often finding refuge in her current writings. Her addiction to reading is what finally inspired her to take a chance at publishing.
A California native, currently residing in North Carolina with her husband. She loves salacious stories, true love and forbidden romances—the more angst the better. Other than reading and writing, some of her other obsessions are peanut butter (don’t get her started), Michael Fassbender, and watching tv.
She loves talking about the creative process and what books she’s reading, so feel free to shoot her a line. Or if you just want to say hi that’s fine too. She swears she’ll respond.
This picks up where Stolen Donor left off pretty much. Hailey is pregnant, trying to reclaim the life she lost when Dominic kidnapped her. She IS now expecting Dominic’s baby and is getting back into living life without being “caged” . BUT This is more of Dominic’s book and him dealing with his past and his parents’ disappearance and him looking for answers to what happened to them. Things start off with somehow news getting out that Dominic was Hailey’s kidnapper so there Dominic is having to fight off those charges which means he has in effect, step down. Boy that when down nasty and Dominic is not a man you want to cross! Readers get to see how this is affecting him and slowly affecting his marriage by now. Meanwhile Dom is being his big ALPHA man toward his wife and family. He decides to look into his parents’ death and not really talk to his wife about his decision to do so. His decision to do so starts driving a wedge between him and his wife, his family. He is pulling away and Hailey doesn’t understand what is going on. There is POV shown and you really feel for all involved. Dominic is still very much his ALPHA personality yet he is so aloof almost to the point of being cold toward Hailey and here is Hailey just reaching out ,trying to get her husband to grab on and communicate, hold her, talk to her and he does nothing . Her DOM, her master breeches the trust and it is very sad. There is a pivotal point in the book that shows how much Hailey takes a stand for her baby and for herself and finally lets him have it. Where I think we know the marriage has reached the breaking point and I think Dom knows it too…The emotions are raw, intense and captivating still as in the first but deeply moving and I highly recommend story ; and there is a second story going on at the same time with Hailey’s sister which is sweet. The epilogue to this story wraps everything up nice which I have to give kudos to the author for. That made this story every sweeter for me, as the reader to read after all with having read.
Stolen and Fractured in is book 2 of the Stolen Series by Cee Smith picks right up where Stolen Donor left off. Dominic and Hailey are now married and have a daughter, Ellie. I thought the tone of this book was different than Stolen Donor. The focus of Stolen and Fractured is on Dominic’s journey to avenge his parents’ death. As I mentioned before, Dominic and Hailey are married but Hailey feels like she hardly know her husband anymore. He has become full of secrets and half-truths, lying to Hailey has almost become a common habit. Dominic and Hailey are also dealing with the media fallout from the accusations that he kidnapped her. Dominic has been advised to step down in his company out of the public eye while as the same time Hailey is dealing with the family member that went to media with the kidnapping accusations. Dominic has suggested to Hailey that she invited Jessa out to help deal with being cooped-up avoiding the media and well as take care of any issues between her and Dominic. Dominic surprises everyone with a trip to Italy but his ulterior motive is to keep them safe but within in a few hours flying distance of where he is trying to get a meet with the man who supposedly orchestrated his parents’ death. Hailey begins to get suspicious when Dominic is always running off to meeting and has been spending the days locked away with his right-hand security man, Scout. Hailey must make a decision if she can again trust Dominic as well as if her and the baby can be enough for him. Stolen and Fractured was a good book but I didn’t think it had as much punch as Stolen Donor. There were instances where I thought Hailey was acting somewhat immature and whiny, which was nothing like she had grown to in the first book. It seemed like she had really regressed emotionally. There is also one scene between Hailey and Dominic that I am hazy on that was maybe supposed to be Dominic showing he was still in charge of Hailey’s body and emotions but I wasn’t really sure. This book also reiterated Dominic’s true self; that he could be a killer and he was still the person that kidnapped Hailey in the first book.
Stolen & Fractured is part two of Dominic and Hailey's story after the abduction. Tabloid papers are stating that Dominic kidnapped Hailey and they have formulated a plan to dispel the truth. Every situation is explained with full clarity. Not a stitch of information left out for your interpretation. Every minute detail is written allowing the reader a full tour into the condo and private lives of each character. The picture that is created and laid out for the reader is quite descriptive. The sex scenes are just as descriptive with a touch of raunchiness. Very erotic to say the least. Hope you can handle all the sexual details of how Dominic pleasures himself with Hailey's body? Some Interesting analogies are used thorough out the story to help illustrate such point. Past memories are separated by italics. Different POV's are indicated at the top of each chapter. Hailey and Dominic's POV. Dominic continues to maintain his dominance with Hailey. Not in the same fashion as a kidnapper but as a husband demanding his sexual desires and controlling decisions that affects Hailey's personal life. At times Dominic crosses the line between kidnapper, Dom, and master. The same characters introduced in the first book carry through into this one. Her twin sister Jessa is still very supportive. The housekeeper Clema still tends to the chores of the condo and the baby. Scout the security guy continues to protect Dominic's family. They feel betrayed when someone leaks personal information regarding the kidnapping. There lives are no longer private. Trying to undo the damage to his image and protect his company is what is on the agenda for Dominic. Dominic is in the process of reclaiming his public image. Dominic continues to take on the alpha male role over Hailey. I'd even go as far to say he shows Narcissistic qualities. The deeper into the story you read you learn more about Dominic's parents and why they disappeared when he was eighteen. This mystery adds another layer to the story.
I was looking forward to this book since I enjoyed Stolen Donor so much. This picks up where that book left off. Hailey is no longer Dominic's prisoner - they are now married and she is expecting his child. Interestingly enough I felt there was more angst in this story than in the first one. The Tabloids have gotten ahold of the story of Dominic kidnapping Hailey and a good portion of the book is spent dealing with the fallout from that story. We also have Dominic attempting to solve the mystery of his parent's disappearance. I really liked Dominic in book one and mentioned in the review how nice and kind he was considering he kidnapped Hailey. In this book Dominic seems to lose some of his 'kindness' as he attempts to deal with everything going on around him. At times he was is very distant, if not downright cold to Hailey. He does this to protect her, but it leaves her confused about what has happened to the man she fell in love with. This book ended up being quite a bit different than I was expecting. I think I enjoyed the first one more, though this one was definitely enjoyable and it was nice being able to spend more time inside Dominic and Hailey's heads (this story is told in alternate points of view). I'm looking forward to reading future books by Cee Smith.
This is the rest of the story of Dominic and Hailey. It is more of Dominic's struggle with his parents disappearance. It starts out with news hitting of Hailey's kidnapping hitting the news. Dominic steps down from his company to get to the bottom of it. He is a bit overbearing and really protective. Hailey doesn't understand it all but she goes along with it. To see Hailey so hands on with her little girl is great. Most with money, just push it off. Most of this book is about Dominic and his parents. He starts to pull away and lie to Hailey. Hailey is unsure of how to handle it all. This book had all the emotional pulls to it. You feel for Hailey and Dominic on what they are going through. You just want the HEA for them. The secondary characters are great. I just loved Jess, Hailey's sister. You can see how close they once were. The relationship between Jess and Scout, oh my, that bit at the end with their first hookup was HOT!! This was told in both POVs again and I just loved getting in both of their heads.
I gave it a 3, but it could possibly be a 2.5 ... I just don't know. I have to start off by saying I loved Stolen and I guess I walked into this book hoping for more of the darkness but still with the solid relationship that Dom and Hailey had forged. I'm sad to say I was a bit disappointed. Dom was secretive and withdrawn, he even outright lied to Hailey more than once. Weren't they supposed to be "living in the light" now? Isn't that what he vowed to her? It seemed the only time he even went near her throughout the entire book was to intimidate her and have sex with her. Beyond that, I did like the story lines about Dom finally putting old ghosts to rest, Hailey and Adam taking steps to find a new path for their relationship, and the budding relationship with Jessa and Patrick. The epilogue was a good save, because who doesn't like an HEA to tie things up, but it took me forever to get through this book because I spent so much time angry at Dom and Hailey for regressing into past destructive behaviors.
I was so looking forward to this sequel. Stolen Donor is an excellent read! Dark, dark, and more dark! This story fell flat compared to the first book. Maybe the time lapse between the two books negatively impacted this story.
I wasn't expecting the division between Dominic and Hailey. If they could overcome the massive crap in Stolen Donor and survive, nothing should have touched them. However, the smallest things seem to divide the two in this story. The story did not detail enough interaction between the two. The story appear as if they're living in separate households leading separate lives and only come together for sex.
The story is really choppy. The choppiness made it difficult to bond with the characters and sympathize with Dominic and Hailey's issues.
**As per usual, this review is spoiler free and will not recap the story. Buy the book!
Stolen and Fractured is the continuation and finale of Hailey and Dominic's story. I really feel that the author answered the unanswered questions from SD very well and gave us another well rounded story. I appreciated getting a chance to see how a relationship that was born of turmoil and deceit could grow into something so much more. Their story wasn't perfect, but it was very fitting for them. I enjoyed reading it despite a couple of small issues that I had with the plot.
I have to be completely honest and say that the **extra special bonus** story you get at the end of the book is my favorite part. So hot and well written! I would love to hear more about Jessa and Scout!
This picks up after Stolen Donor, this is more of Dominic's story revolving around finding his parents, finding the person that hurt his family, and his marriage to Hailey. The main point is Dominic finding things out, taking things into his hands. Not involving Hailey. A breaking point for Hailey, but will she succumb and be her old self. Or will she take a stand and fight for herself, her child and most of all- her marriage. This book is about choosing whether or not to fight, that marriage isn't always easy and the truth is vital. It is raw, brutal, emotional but I couldn't put it down.
This book was a little disappointing. It took me a while to get through it, and believe me it was a struggle. I didn't care for how the relationship between these two was going. I actually liked Dominic in the first book better than this book and Hailey too. There was hardly any interaction with the baby. I liked the beginning and the end, but I skipped a lot of the scrap in the middle just to get through it. The writing was strange in this book and I can't explain why I didn't like it more. Sorry, just my opinion.
I was anxious to read this book after I finished the first book. One of the main focuses of this story is Dominic's actions and revenge for his parents disappearance. It tells how Dominic protects his family after the news breaks of the kidnapping and how Hailey try's to deal with changes in Dominic while he trying to get the answers of his parents disappearance.
I really enjoyed the "extended" chapter at the end. This was my second book from this author and I will read more!!
This picks up where Stolen Donor left off- the continuation of Hailey and Dominic's story. I was sooo fascinated and enthralled with this relationship- from tumultuous and deceit to a beautiful erotic happy ending. Yaay!!! Dominic is my fantasy man, in and out of bed, everyday, everywhere :-)
The epilogue made things so much better and hats off to the author for a job well done!!!
Loved this sequel! *spoiler* If anyone ever deserved a happy ending it would be Dominic and Hailey. This book was a little less dark than the first but we all know they had to end up together! Cee Smith must have one wild imagination. I can't wait to read more from her,
I enjoyed the ending to Hailey and Dom's story. It was a good wrap up for them and a great way to wrap up the linger questions about Jessa, Scout and Adam.
