A dragon shifter romance of epic proportions! They said dragon shifters were long extinct, but they were wrong; a small group has just awoken after a thousand year long forced hibernation. Now unleashed back onto the world, they have two main aims: Repaying their blood enemy the vampires for forcing them into their slumber, and finding women suitable to carry on their dragon lineage. Kira is one such woman who is captured by these dragons. Facing an impossible situation, the last thing she expects to happen is to fall for one of her captors... But that's exactly what's about to happen! Enter Nico, a tall, handsome shifter capable of not only putting fear into the strongest men, but making usually cool woman act like giddy school girls facing their first crush. Kira knows it's wrong to give in to Nico's desires, but with her womanly needs just as strong, who's to says she can't get what she wants out of this arrangement? Believe me when I tell you this is one paranormal fantasy romance you won't want to miss. Suitable for over 18s only due to sex scenes so hot they'll leave your toes curling!
I tried to finish this book, not doing so well. There is a very nice plot, but the characters aren't well developed and there is information missing. This was alps written for basically a high school student attempting at higher romance. The details were lacking.
Are you for real? The premise was promising. Then I started reading and it all went down... It starts with a "sensitive" and "fatherly" human-hating, vampire-hating, basically everyone-hating as*hole with no regards for human and not so human lives, morals and decency, who awakens dragons. Ok. There usually is a despicable character, so whatever. Then enter some "last-year"magic-learning human, who is 25 going on 13 with all the middle school talks and dorm stuff. Plus the weird "you shall have", "don't fret my darlings" [from a 25-year-old] Regency talk mixed with modern language. Say what?? I was like "ok, she is immature, she will grow up when her mate comes along" . Ha.ha.ha. She still stays immature teenager, so all the " hot scenes" gave me some serious creeps. Like hearing about old man getting involved with a teenager. Yuck. And the hero... Blindly follows the despicable leader, who knows there are only females in that castle, but still goes into battle killing a lot of them, and puts weak, human females in dungeon? But ok, they don' t have all the memories from their thousand year sleep. Then the hero goes from "I might still kill you" to "I knew you were my bonded mate when I saw you". Beg your pardon? No. Just no. I can overlook a lot. But not this. Nope, nope, nope.
Was not as good as I expected it to be from the books description but still an enjoyable read for the most part. I would probably take a chance in the others in the series.
What started out as a journey seeking revenge for a centuries old wrong, ended up being a new beginning. With new loves and new friends the dragons began a new life.
So sad that Garuf died, but at least he did the right thing. Glad that Natalie changed her ways, she was awful. Loved everything else about the dragons and their mates.
I enjoyed this first book. It's a slightly different approach on shifters. The characters are likeable and well rounded. I will be interested in seeing how this series develops. There are not many editing issues. Give it a try.
