What could be more fun than being part of her best friend’s wedding? Sunny Meadows is thrilled that her best friend Jo has met the love of her life and is settling down. To add to her joy, Sunny’s fortune telling business is doing well and her boyfriend Detective Mitch Stone is moving in with her, not to mention her Granny Gert and her mischievous cat Morty.
Unfortunately for Sunny, her parents stay for an extended visit to help with the wedding plans. However, they aren’t much help when Sunny’s mother fights with the owner of the inn hosting the wedding. Things get much worse when the owner is murdered and Sunny’s mother is the number one suspect. In fact, she’s the only suspect.
Sunny intends to use her fortune telling powers to help her mother. She quickly discovers she needs more help than that so she enlists her friends in her quest to learn what really happened. Her cat, Morty, isn’t going to be left out of the investigation and joins in the hunt for a killer.
I loved the first three books in this series and was quite excited to see another book in the series released. This one has it all – mystery, intrigue, romance, humor and a cast of characters ranging from evil to absolutely delightful. It’s a quick read that leaves you wanting more. There were a ton of twists and turns…just when you think the story has come to an end, you learn that it’s far from over. I can’t wait for the next one.

What happens when you have a grumpy detective, a palm reading psychic, a wild, impetuous grandmother and an immortal cat on the trail of a killer? You find a hiden cave and a treasure map! You also have the makings for a twisted and complicated story about lies and revenge. I had not read the previous books in this series but the characters are so magical I will be reading from the beginnning. And with an ending like this I know there are explosive happenings yet to come!
I did receive this book in exchange for an honest review.
Sunny and Mitch are least learning to work together to solve this mystery and Mitch is becoming more of a believer in Sunny’s talents. Also Jo and Zoe take more of an active role in solving the mystery especially since the murder happened at Jo and Cole’s wedding and created all sorts of relationship drama.
Morty was being Morty and seriously Sunny, when are you going to learn to pick up on the clues he literally drops in your lap???
Kari Lee Townsend has come up with another winner! Sunny's mother is back again & this time she becomes the prime suspect in a murder. It is up to Sunny, BFFs Jo & Zoe, & boyfriend Detective Mitch Stone to find the murderer before Sunny's mom is arrested. Also helping/hindering is Morty, Sunny's cat. There are numerous plot twists & laugh out loud moments that kept me hooked & guessing to the end!! Now I'm waiting for book 5, Hazard in the Horoscope, to see where Sunny's next adventure takes me.
Perish in the Palm by Kari Lee Townsend The Fourth Sunny Meadows Mystery
Sunny Meadows is back! Sunny is a fortune teller in Divinity, New York. She lives in an old Victorian with Morty (a more than mysterious cat), her Grandma Gert, and now her boyfriend Mitch (who still sometimes morphs into Detective Grumpy Pants). Sunny is pleased to be maid of honor at her friend Jo's wedding, even though her mother is horning in. When her mom takes one to many verbal jousts at the owner of the reception site, Sunny steps in with some entertainment in order to distract everyone. She reads Peirce's palm, but sees some disconcerting images...and treasure. When a storm hits and the lights go out, everyone is shocked-especially when Sunny's mom is found standing over the dead body of Peirce, knife in hand. Was it Peirce's financial activities that caused his death, or was someone just out to ruin a wedding? Whatever the case, Sunny is determined to prove her mother innocent!
Sunny and her mother have a difficult relationship, neither truly understanding the other. We see that while her mom can relate to her friends, to Sunny's eyes even being more of a mom to them, their own relationship is fraught with tension. But your mom's your mom so when Vivian becomes prime suspect in a murder investigation, Sunny will do everything she can to prove her innocence, whether the assistance is wanted or not. In Perish in the Palm Kari Lee Townsend explores more of this mother/daughter relationship and we see the growth and bond of these two characters deepen.
I was happy to hear that Sunny was back in Divinity with a new mystery. Living in Western New York I can easily picture this Central New York town and feel quite at home, especially in Sunny's Victorian. I'm thrilled to read more about Morty and love getting his take on the situation and the clues he tried to provide Sunny. I appreciate how Kari Lee Townsend is exploring different forms of divination-palm reading in this book as well as how Mitch is coming to appreciate her paranormal abilities. While Sunny still shows her immaturity at times, both she and Mitch are growing as characters as well as growing as a couple. Perish in the Palm is also a good mystery with numerous plausible suspects as well as a secondary mystery-a hunt for treasure!

This is Book#4 in what was A Fortune Teller Mystery series and is now called A Sunny Meadows Mystery series. This has been a fun and entertaining series and just keeps getting better with each book. Sunny is a psychic who owns a grand old Victorian house that she shares with her granny and her strange cat, Morty. Now she is cohabiting with her boyfriend, Mitch, a detective on the Divinity, New York police force, as she stalls about getting engaged. Helping at her best friend's wedding involves her parents coming to visit, a disaster waiting to happen. A murder happens at the reception and her mother is standing over the body and now becomes the main suspect. The characters are wonderful and have become old friends, like wine they just get better and better. The description of the town and surrounding area entice you to move there, even with all the murders. The murder plot is outstanding and involves buried treasure, affairs, embezzlement and big, scary guys. There are many plot twists and they are woven together in a wonderful way that keeps you turning the pages and guessing wrong. My favorite character is Morty, the strangely supernatural cat. Detective Grumpy Pants, otherwise known as, Mitch is a riot as he battles it out with strong minded Sunny over her safety. This is a wonderful addition to the series and with the plot involving Sunny's parents, you need to check it out. I highly recommend this book and the series to any mystery buff.
I won this book as a prize from the author and this is my fair and honest review.
This is the 4th book in the Sunny Meadows Mystery. I love this series and the author. Sunny is helping her friend with her wedding with involves her parents showing up which never goes well. Sunny's mother is accused of murder when a person dies at the reception. Between Morty and his freakiness and Mitch over protectiveness of Sunny you can't go wrong with this twister of a story.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters are so fun and witty and the story line is so well written it feels like you are right there. You meet Sunny in this one and she is a great lead. I look forward to what will happen next.
I just read the sixth book in this series and it referred to a few things that happened in Perish in the Palms which I didn't know, so I knew I needed to read it. Missing it and then reading it out of order did not make it any less enjoyable.
Sunny's (uptight) mother comes to town for Jo's wedding and does not get along with the several members of the community including the owner of the hotel where she and Sunny's father are staying. When the hotel owner is murdered during the wedding reception, Sunny's mother is the main suspect. With the help of Mortie the cat, her friends, and of course her boyfriend police detective, Sunny sets out to prove her mother is innocent.
This book has many twists and turns and more mysteries to figure out along the way to solving the murder and Sunny's psychic ability figures into solving the mystery and saving her mother. The character in this series are fun and funny. Very enjoyable. The mystery is well thought out and not easy to figure out. I love the series and am happy that I discovered I had missed one of the books (well two actually). Enjoy!!
The books are great! Love the plot, characters and especially the cat, Morty! He's a doll! But I Can Not bet through the book without wishing that the writer would kill the Mom off! Her overbearing attitude makes think there's unresolved issues with the writer. Don't get me wrong! If you can wade through the constant interceptions from the mom, then go for it! Its a good read! But I personally, won't be finishing the series. Not to be mean, but the constant conflicts with mom make it way to cluttered for me. If she ever does another series ill make sure to give them a good read! The writer is really good. Just not my cup of tea. Andrea Hensley
This is another entertaining read in the Sunny Meadows series.. I got the killer wrong, but I had a sneaky feeling about the retirement of Sunny's parents. It's all good in the end. Just use correct grammar, please.
This is #5 in the series and it keeps getting better! I absolutely love the way this series keeps building and each book is better than the last! I adore the characters but Sunny most of all.
Loved it, very interesting. I had not read any of the previous ones but was not confused. Of course relationships had already developed but it was still cute.
This book was so good! Sunny’s mom is accused of murder, and Sunny is out to clear her name. There’s so much going on in this book. I couldn’t put it down!
This story has so many twists and turns you can't stop reading till one problem is solved. Then another is present. You will truly have a great reading adventure.
Murder, mayhem and parties. A no to a proposal and a murder to solve. All in good time. Murder solved, injuries healed and finally the proposals and yeses.
This is the fourth book in the series Sunny Meadows Mystery but the first book that I have read in the series. While it does stand alone, I know I missed a lot of the characters relationships in the past. I would have liked to read the other books first in the series.
I had no clue who the murder was and why. Plenty of suspects.
The one character I would of really liked to know more about there history is Morty the cat. He really has a bad reputation. I can tell he must have done a lot to some of the characters.
Sunny is the main character. She reads palms, is physic, helps the police. Her parents don't believe in her. Neither does her boyfriend Detective Mitch Stone. She does have some good friends who do.
Sunny gives a reading for entertainment and the next day he is murdered at her best friend's wedding. Sunny's mother is the prime suspect.
I cared about Sunny. I wanted to see her and Detective Grumpy Pants work things out. I really liked the ending. I would read more about Sunny.
The setting was Divinity, New York.
This has plenty of drama, characters, murder, visions and a good dose of humor. It is also a clean read.
I was given this ebook to read and in return I agreed to give a honest review and be part of Perish in the Palm blog tour
This series was first known as The Fortune Teller Mysteries, however they are now being called The Sunny Meadows Mysteries. Same characters and back to the same fun antics when solving a murder as the first 2. The friendship between Sunny, Jo and Zoe has enough bantering, love and support that it feels authentic. I love how Morty the cat is an important part of each story, yet his appearance is few and far between. I love the intrigue surrounding his relationship with Sunny, there has to be more to their story. Add the different romantic relationships, granny Gert and her frenemy Fiona and Sunny's parents and the little town of Divinity is never dull. I'm so glad I didn't let the disappointment of the 3rd book stop me from reading this one!
