This adventure is likely the okayest adventure I've ever read. Actually, that's not entirely true. The first section, finding the location of the obelisk, is great, 5 star potential with the right DM and group. You'd have to ignore the premade characters, but whatever. Then you get to the obelisk and suddenly it's sci-fi instead of fantasy, in an awful way. Then the next major part, recovery of the obelisk, back to 5 stars. Then the last part bounces between less than 1 star because of its extreme level of silliness (Gee Whiz!!) and 5 stars for the interesting creativity of location, back to less than 1 for the story. The end literally ruined the rest of the adventure for me.
But here's the thing, I'm actually going to run it. I'm removing the silliness, replacing the bad story with good story, and making the overall concept run from the beginning of the adventure to the end. If I had to guess, with my changes, my players will really enjoy it. But that's coming after decades of playing with most of them and knowing what it is they like and what they don't like. If I had bought this adventure when it had come out, I think I would have been very upset and tried to bring it back.
