Pop-science meets theology in an engaging book from Peter Haas. Diving deeper than others would dare, this gutsy writer wrestles with theological issues many leaders would avoid on Sunday. He asks, What if your prayers could reveal your promotability or odds of happiness? and Did you know some people who survive traumatic events report higher levels of happiness? Get the book and you ll see all of his other brilliant prompts. This author s bold goal is to tweak people s minds. He hopes to increase the time and energy you and the people you know are investing in prayer, thinking, and even blogging.
Peter Haas is an excellent writer. He's funny, engaging and provides a lot for the reader to think about. Sometimes, when we're seeking promotion it seems as though our elevator to the top is broken, but maybe it's exactly where it should be. Peter examines 10 myths that we believe about promotion - or lack thereof. If you feel like you're stuck, this is a must read!
Loved it and of course read it at the perfect time when I needed to hear these words the most! Thank you Pastor Peter Haas!! I remember the first time I went to Substance church when it was in a little room on the U of M campus! Changed my faith forever!! Thank you for all that you do!
This book got better as it went on! I enjoyed the no-nonsense chapters about humility and pain required to be “promotable.” It was funny at times, and gave me a lot to think about. I will remember that he says the key to dealing with anxiety is to “get yourself a Heavenly Father.”
Very insightful, timely andGodly message from Peter Haas. The most important lesson I got from it was: Sometimes God is working on our promotability rather than our promotions. On our character, rather the achievements. Wonderful wonderful, and a page-turner.
Peter Haas is funny and thought-provoking in Broken Escalators, delivering vocational guidance in an entertaining and educational easy-to-swallow pill.
