Lovable Clayton and Desmond are back in this Easter companion to the bestselling book THE BIGGEST PUMPKIN EVER!
As Mouseville prepares for a gala Easter celebration on the village green, complete with a biggest Easter Basket contest, two lovable mice learn a lesson in cooperation -- and fun!
Town mouse Clayton and country mouse Desmond continue to teach the benefits of collaboration and friendship in another sweet story centered around this joyful holiday.
Stephen Kroll spoke at schools and conferences all over the world. He was married to the journalist, Kathleen Beckett, and they lived in New York City and an old carriage house in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. When he was not writing or traveling, he played a lot of tennis and walked around looking at everything.
After the mayor of Mouseville announced a special Easter celebration, Desmond and Clayton got an idea about how to build the biggest and most spectacular Easter basket ever, hoping to win a competition. While they each worked with their families, something seemed to be missing. However, as they tried to outdo one another, they had an epiphany of sorts. Their ideas might be better if they worked together, rather than at odds. The end result surely caught the eye of all those who came to the celebration, while proving to Desmond and Clayton that teamwork has its benefits. Neo and I enjoyed this and while it is still a few weeks until Easter, there's nothing like getting into the holiday season. So, Mother Nature, you can stop with the snow any day now!!
This is clearly a desperate attempt by Steven Kroll to profit off the success of his masterpiece, The Biggest Pumpkin Ever. The mice are incredibly stupid, the town is lame, and most importantly, the "biggest Easter basket ever" isn't particularly big. The forced narrative of teamwork making the dream work falls flat, and no lesson is learned. Kroll should have stuck with what made him famous: drawing large pumpkins.
This was a cute book and told the story of two mice trying to win a contest but in the end worked together with their community to build something they both loved. This is a great book to read when teaching kids about teamwork and community.
This was just a pretty okay Easter themed story about how doing stuff together leads to bigger results, nothing really special, but it did look good and the writing was nice.
We are a big fan of "The Biggest Pumpkin Ever" by the same author. The fun of that book is the drawings of the little tiny mice in contrast to the big pumpkin. In this 2008 add-on book, the mice are big and the basket is not much bigger than they are. It bugs me when books are added in a series and aren't up to the quality presented in the beginning.
Some families of mice compete with each other for world's biggest Easter Basket. then they find out the best way to get the job done is to cooperate. This fun tale for kids shows us that we don't always haave to compete against each other to be friends.
Very cute Easter story about two little mice in a community each wanting to win the award for having the biggest basket. They each built their own and have their family add stuff for inside it. In the end they realize that working together is so much better than working alone.
