Solid overview of the Bond series starting with Dr. No to the last entry of the Brosnan quartet, Die Another Day. In fact, the author's strongest reporting is in regards to the Brosnan years with friendly access to cast and crew - but he also interviews plenty of previous Bond talents from special effects men to screenplay writers to actors and actresses, including the ever gentlemanly Roger Moore and the underrated Timothy Dalton. Just when you think there can't be any new information on the James Bond films, a book like this comes along to enlighten you otherwise. Compulsive reading for 007 fans.
A hearty compendium of facts, interviews, and even call sheets of the Eon Productions Bond films up to "Die Another Day", this gives voice to each of the primary actors--yes, even George Lazenby, who I always feel had gotten the short shrift in the series, along with many of the supporting casts, villains, heroes, and otherwise. But that's hardly all: the producers, directors, stunt coordinators...they're all covered. Want to know how the Ice Castle was destroyed? Now the story can be told! Pierce Brosnan gets the most in depth coverage because he was the current Bond, at the time anyway, and I would really like to have a beer with the guy...I'm not much for vodka martinis, shaken, stirred, or otherwise. There's also a lovely interview with Desmond Llewelyn, and a followup with John Cleese, the Q-In-Training. Loaded with pictures, this should absolutely be in any Bondphile's library.
