Once upon a time, God, Others and Goddess created the world. But as time went on, wars and greed infiltrated not only the world but Heaven and Hell as well. Angels warring with each other and behaving badly spurned Goddess to create a secret world, Avalon, devoid of anything evil. Goddess sees Adamina on Earth struggling to survive and whisks her from Earth to Avalon. She protects her and provides her every need. She teaches Adamina how to take care of the land and it will take care of you. But when Gabriel seeks refuge on Avalon, it sets in motion events so catastrophic, not even Goddess can protect them. With each reincarnation, Adamina and Gabriel search for each other and attempt to stop Lucifer from destroying the world. Will they be successful or is this endless loop their fate?

Angels and Avalon is a fantasy story steeped in Christian mythology. While I love anything to do with angels and demons, I found myself trying to figure out what was going on. It pulled me out of the story. The first half captured my imagination and it formed a solid foundation for what was to come. The angels behaving like humans seemed a touch out of reality but I was able to suspend belief because this is a fantasy, after all. But once the reincarnations started, I had trouble keeping up. I had to re-read a few parts to figure out who was who and where the plot was going. The descriptive narration, though, was spot-on and took me away. I connected with Adamina right away. The ending took me by surprise.

If you’re looking for an escape from the mundane where deceit, power and love rule choices made, pick up Angels and Avalon. I look forward to the next one in the series.

Angels, both good and bad, gods, humans and reincarnation, and that’s just part of the story as Catherine Milos takes us to Avalon in Angels and Avalon. Apparently even archangels can get fed up with the gods and their petty wars and Gabriel has had his fill, becoming the guardian in a secret paradise called Avalon. He won’t be the only angel in paradise though, and he soon finds that his charge, Adamina is fast becoming his heart’s personal paradise. Too bad she is married to another angel who has fallen under the spell of Lucifer and the angel of darkness believes she is the key to his victory over God.

Adamina is the key to more than victory, she holds the key to Gabriel’s heart, and becomes the perfect pawn in Lucifer’s evil game. Will it take Gabriel’s ultimate sacrifice and the hopes of reincarnation to hold on to the love he and Amadina share? Follow them through the centuries as they continue to try to outrun Lucifer and his minions.

Filled with a fantasy tale that plays out over time, Adamina becomes the victim to her twisted husband’s wrath as she continually fails to produce a son for him to corrupt and the perfect pawn in Lucifer’s plan as this tiny piece of paradise becomes embroiled in the depths of hell.

A collection of key characters will be presented, each having their own place in Amadina’s life. Ms. Milos also give us a web of subplots that begged to be fleshed out, while still being able to wrap them up as the end comes near. A tale with the potential for greatness if there were more information for readers to bite into! With a definite feel of fantasy, this is an intriguing read, but pay attention, the ride can get a bit bumpy at times!

I received this copy from Catherine Milos in exchange for my honest review.

Author Catherine Milos was kind enough to send me an e-version of Angels and Avalon after I failed to win the goodreads giveaway for it.

Angels and Avalon was, for me a bit of a departure from what I usually read. The focus was on mostly good characters; God and Goddess, Angels, and a very good human. Of course Lucifer is also present so not all is wonderful.

The premise: Avalon is a paradise created by Goddess, hidden from the view of other divine beings who would destroy it.

I enjoyed the idyllic setting of Avalon (not Arthur's Avalon) but as is always the case, the paradise is invaded (I guess the book would have become boring otherwise). The Elysian Fields are a myth after all.

We have angels behaving as badly as humans, ... or angels, who knows? We have love, envy, violence, hate, kindness, tenderness and abuse.

Angels and Avalon spans several lifetimes and got a bit confusing towards the end because of this. Not horribly so, and it is an integral part of the story so it can be forgiven by the reader.

The activities of the characters in Angels and Avalon may give pause to more fundamental Christians (Goddess?), but my advice to them would be: It's fiction.Further as a Christian the story does not offend me in the slightest. Lucifer is Lucifer, so it is no spoiler what he is about.

Angels and Avalon is at its core a heartwarming tale of love (see? not my usual fare). But is not saccharin sweet or cloying. A good balance. Author Catharine Milos has given us a nice, clean, often gentle story, yet there are plenty of moments of evil and horror to keep the story balanced. I think if you give Angels and Avalon a look you will find it a pleasing read, Enjoy!

I really like angels and demons, they fascinate me so I had high hopes for Angels and Avalon. The story started off very promising with Adamina being young and growing into a woman however, I was left a little disappointed. Don’t get me wrong I did enjoy the concept of the book and much of the story was good, but, I felt the middle of Adamina’s life was skipped very quickly, it seemed like I blinked and another child was there and I felt because of this the character development suffered a bit.

I liked it, but didn’t love it.

I won this book on the Goodreads giveaway. The book was nicely written though it does bounce around a little in the middle. It is not excessively descriptive or filled with unnecessary fillers. I enjoyed reading about Adamina's life. I don't normally read books that have gods, goddesses and magic but this book was able to keep my interest the entire time. (Sorry, this is my first review so it might not be very helpful)

This is neither King Arthur’s Avalon nor your typical Angel book although many of the biblical angel names are used. This caused a bit of disconnect for me.
What this is however is an entirely new twist on various mythologies with a tremendous amount of descriptive worldbuilding. Those two things make for an interesting read. What I missed was more character building and backstories. To be honest, it made it difficult to become really invested in the characters (and I really wanted to.)
. There are some pretty big gaps and unexplained events which I’m not going to list in case they are covered in the subsequent books. Personally I needed them addressed in order to move onto any subsequent books. I can only imagine with all that worldbuilding that something has to give but character development shouldn’t have been sacrificed. I could not shake the feeling that I’ve read this book before: Angel and special human/witch cycle through multiple reincarnations in order to find each other with a demon trying to keep them apart.

I’d recommend this book for the creative mythologies and beautiful worldbuilding if that is what you enjoy reading. I’d place it in the genre of clean YA SFF. I received a ARC copy at my request from #NetGalley—Thank you.

Angels and Avalon is a great read that's fast paced and cleverly intertwines religious mythology with fantasy and action. The plot moves well, my only gripe is that due to the span of time the timeline does become confusing at some points which could be planned out better and it feels like some character development is skipped to keep pace with the story.

That said, if you enjoy reading a good fantasy series with a driven plot, this one is for you!

Goes down as another off my 2017 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A book set in the future. It starts in a distant past on a world created by Goddess and goes forward in time through reincarnation with the characters. A book of two parts with Avalon and then forward to present day, two very different worlds where only a few of the same people are found in both. Mainly when reincarnated, whether they remember the past lives is another thing entirely.

Goddess has grown tired of the games and politics of all the Others (Fates, Time, Balance, Death, Birth, Darkness, Light, Justice, Hope, Agony and God himself). She longs for a tranquil place to call her own. But to create a new world, as she can so easily do, without the Others is now forbidden. The last time Goddess and God created without them was when the Angels came into existence. Not created by all, so not bound by the same rules. This doesn’t stop her from creating Avalon though. A place made from the very heart and soul of her but a world that must stay hidden. On another of her worlds, one that is dying and will soon cease to exist is a girl, someone who holds a piece of her own light within her. She knows she shouldn’t but can’t stop herself from saving her and taking her to Avalon. Naming her Adamina she enlists the girls love and asks her to become her Priestess and protect Avalon. She now has a calm existence from the terrors she grew up with but is lonely. Connecting with animals and the world around her is one thing but she longs to connect to a person, to have a friend. So Goddess lifts a veil for a ship to sail through and with it brings Pagan.

Pagan is given the same request to worship the Goddess as she would worship a mother. To teach Adamina the ways of people and care for the land with those that came with her, but her own request is what changes Avalon the most. To have the shipping port left open so trade can come and go. The island has stories attached to it to stop people venturing too far inland, well that and a little help from Gabriel. Only those worthy pass and soon a family of women and young children become the Priestesses of Goddess. To honour her whether she is near or far. It’s when she is away that things start to change. Mainly by the arrival of Angels, something she always feared.

Gabriel had grown tired of his existence and longed for a place to retire. He went to his mother, Goddess, and she sent him to Avalon as long as he would keep it secret and watch over Adamina. To protect her as she grows, keeping her safe. He stays hidden from view for many years. Watching and helping along the way until he hears rumours of God sending out Angels to look for Avalon. His time away leaves Avalon and Adamina open to danger. Said danger in the form of Uriel, an Angel so easily manipulated by others. He makes her a deal to keep Avalon safe from other Angels if she will become his wife. A deal she may soon regret when she sees his true nature and finally accepts her true feelings for Gabriel when she meets him. Years pass and with them come children. All gifted in their own way but all girls. Uriel wants a son, someone to mould in his image and it seems willing do whatever it takes to get one, whether it leads to the destruction of Avalon and Adamina in the process.

I think that part two should have started with the most present day reincarnation of them all rather than jumping around others a few hundred years apart. Or had that as a mini part between the two. This second part is like another complete story following Elizabeth, who was Adamina in her past lives. She is still followed closely by those who would seek to use her power – Lucifer being at the top of that list closely followed by Uriel who just turns out to be crazy. Gabriel just wants to find the other part of his soul but even he has his stupid moments where you are like ‘what are you playing at she is your soul mate stop messing about!’ Everyone is still connected and Elizabeth still has power but something hides her true strength. She is going to need that strength again to take down Lucifer before he strikes. His greed for power will be his downfall and Uriel will soon follow suit.

I would have liked to know what happened to all of Adamina’s children. You know they escape but then you just start jumping through time following her and Gabriel. Can they find their way back to each other and if they do will they be stuck in the past or live in the present? Interesting read with creating a wealth of worlds and characters, all interlinking with each other in their own way to get to one final showdown. Good vs. evil lets see who wins.

A great read from beginning to end. Ms. Milos caught my attention from the first chapter and kept it all the way to the end with a strong plot and stronger characters. Rich colorful descriptions made it so I could "see" the story unfold in my mind. This book has it all, drama, suspense, romance, and the ultimate fight of good vs. evil. I was captivated, exhilarated, and often sat on the edge of my seat waiting to read what came next. Brava Ms. Milos, this is a book I am more than happy to recommend to others.

First of all, I want to thank the author for providing me a digital copy in exchange for a honest review.

I remember placing this book in my "want to read" list because of some resemblance with one of my favorite TV shows, Supernatural, but most of Angels here are - obviously - quite different.

I liked it, even though events seem a little redundant after some time. I enjoyed reading about Adamina's life with her kids in this magical place called Avalon, but even if I was a bit tired after reading about Uriel's comings and goings back and forth, I understand it was a way to show Adamina's change of character and strenght.
The second part feels a little bit rushed, I would've liked to know about Adamina's kids' fate and what happened to them - for example, was someone from Elizabeth's family a heir of Adamina's daughters? I like to think so - or I would've liked more clarity about Adamina and Gabriel's past lives.

I liked Elizabeth, so much stronger and determinate. I didn't quite like Gabriel in the second part of the novel: he didn't even seem the same character. Did mortality really change him that much? I didn't find the same level of love and devotion in him, instead Uriel was still the same - maybe even worse and poisoned by horrors of the modern world.

Still, it's a good fantasy and I enjoyed reading about this beautiful world called Avalon and I enjoyed even more the battle between good and evil. I liked Gabriel in the first part, but my favorite characters were Raphael and Tyrryal, both loyal to Adamina 'till the end.
The ending is bittersweet, but I think it's perfect the way it is: the romantic girl inside of me felt shocked. but I think Elizabeth made the right choice.

This book felt like a lot of stories in one. There are a lot of characters and a few different worlds. They all tie in together nicely but it was a lot for one book.

I would like to of gotten more information about Adamina’s kids. I felt like even though that got brought up multiple times, there was no resolution to it. I know the story is about Adamina and Gabriel but, the kids were an important part of the story too.

I feel like this would be a great series book. As a stand alone novel, it felt rushed. I really think there is much more story to tell here. I’m left with a lot to wonder about.

The story is fantastic though. It’s well written and will definitely draw you in. I guess that’s why I’m so bummed it ended the way it did. I wasn’t ready to leave Avalon or Adamina.

Adamina and Gabriel are star crossed lovers to say the least. It seems that no matter the situation, they will never be together the way they should.

This is a good fantasy story with interesting characters. It has some very good plot twists. However - it just seems unpolished or unrefined, or however you would want to put it. This book just does not quite meet professional standards. It sure could use another round of editing from a good editor. The typos, errors, omissions and grammatical inconsistencies are a bit too numerous to be tolerable at a professional level. The author, one Mrs. Catherine Milos, could also greatly benefit from employing a style coach of some sort. Something is just off about the flow of her wordsmithing. The words do not just flow off the page and easily into the reader's mind as they should. There were far too many instances of me re-reading a particular sentence or paragraph multiple times in an attempt to figure out what exactly the author was trying to get across to me. Nevertheless, this story was worth the time put into reading it.

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway - thank you to the author for the copy and my apologies for the delay in writing this review.

I really enjoyed this book, although I felt that occasionally there was a lot of descriptive ‘telling’ rather than ‘showing’. However, I also understand that this was probably necessary (particularly at the beginning) as there is a lot of information to get across to the reader.

As the book progressed, I found myself drawn in to the story and the lives of the characters. It’s well written, at times quite poetic. Would I recommend this to others? If you like fantasy, then definitely YES! It held my attention easily (which can sometimes be a hard thing to do :D).

Happy reading!

I won this book as a goodreads giveaway.

I THOROUGHLY disliked this book. Time flew by leaving little room for character building or motivation. I have no idea why this story exists, it felt purposeless.

The back of the book summary of what I may find inside was the contents of the last chapter. I struggled through 23 chapters of meandering around worlds with hollow characters to get to one action sequence (ok there was one more bit of action at the end of part 1).

I came really close to putting this down several times but I had to get to the part the back flap talks about. I was too far in.

I bought this from a gentleman who had a table at the Saskatchewan Festival of Words selling books for his wife. I like to support local writers when possible, and I was very happy that I chose this one. It was a wonderful tale of gods, goddesses, an Avalon unlike any I had read about, and a love so great it travels through time. It was great fun and there are more in the series.

This story draws the reader into Adamina's secret world of Avalon, where magic resonates from the Earth and Adamina. Avalon and Adamina suffer as Angels enter her world, and her relationship with the Angels send ripples through generations as souls from Avalon seek each other throughout space an time. The first half of the novel has a more serious tone, as Adamina's history and suffering at the hands of an Angel lover are detailed. Through a series of increasingly difficult pregnancies Adamina gains strength and provides unwavering love for her children. The second half of the novel, feels fresh and humorous compared to the first half as Elizabeth (Adamina reincarnated) discovers her magical self in a modern world. Tension built up from conflict in Avalon returns to Elizabeth as she begins to encounter past loves and old friends. There is a lot of potential here to create a series bridging Adamina's life in Avalon with Elizabeth's story.
