Emma is a Black/white Muslim American mom of five, ages 6-22, in her mid-forties just trying to live her best life…which usually includes coffee, wine, and an unfortunate habit of one-clicking any pretty special edition that winds up in her feed. (If you DM it, she will come.)

She likes K-pop (#army, #moa) cultivation dramas (Till the End of the Moon,) precioussss silence, and collects more makeup than she uses.

She bends knee to Michelle Sagara West, Anne Bishop, N.K. Jemisin, Grace Draven, J.D. Robb, and Nalini Singh—a nod to Sanderson, Goodkind, Eddings, McCaffrey, and McKinley.

If you are looking for romantic epic fantasy set in complex, diverse, sex positive worlds with morally gray societies, powerful anti-heroes with THAD energy, multi-racial heroines at least 35—if not 350—coming into power, and a central theme of family, both dysfunctional and supportive, then you will binge her stories..

Liam’s Bride starts out rather slowly but speeds up, way up, fast and doesn’t stop moving. The plot advances, the plot thickens, the plot…isn’t quite finished yet, I hope since it feels like the author missed something near the end since it ended so abruptly.

Spoiler below

As I said the plot advances but it feels like it moves far too fast. One minute Meredith is a teacher cum councillor who’s facing eviction for her teens group, the next she’s attracted to the new owner and the next … Yeah, too fast for my liking, especially since there are sub plots which feel incomplete.

Note that this review is of my opinion, and what some may like, others may detest. And we all know the old saying about opinions. Speaking of...
Something told me to take a look at a few reviews when I got to 50% of the book being read. I should have heeded that something...It started out okay, then took a complete nosedive for me.
I don't like anal sex in M/F 'romance' books, let alone it being forced. Add to that, the nasty crude language associated with some of the scenes...NO THANK YOU! There was nothing sexy/sensual about it...
Case in point: "...he resumed the touches that sent fire into her c**t and melted her core, juice waiting to coat his c**k when he finally took her." Really?
The male character was bossy, and didn't have a problem bossing the female character around; the female was wishy-washy and weak. Plus - the female character went from being slightly coy, to a full raging 'hot mess' hole. And it only got worse...the same 'demure' woman then tells the 'hero' to "C*** in my mouth."
Now - if expressed in a different way with more creative - not skanky - language, this could have been hot for some folks.
Since the so-so cheddar cheese wheel plot thinned to a slice of preservative and c***-filled American cheese, I had to back away.
The book kept raising its gross factor for me, so I DNF.
Nothing like regurgitating processed cheese. Or having it come out all runny at the other end.
And yes...those damn opinions. You know what they say.

When I first started reading and I basically got the gist, I looked at the remaining pages and wondered where the rest of the story would meander and go, since it was pretty straightforward. I don't think I had gotten anywhere near page 100 when this happened, so to me what came next could have probably been summed up in five pages. It honestly felt like no time was passing. When in actuality, apparently weeks were going by. So one star goes for Liam's sister reaction, which I felt was way overboard. Another star goes for the shoddy pregnancy plot and the last one Liam's stupidity when Meredith was trying to come clean. I couldn't get a fix on Meredith's personality. At first, she was timid, then she seemed to overcome the timidity and find a backbone, then she was way too willing to roll over and then she was back to having some steel in her spine. All in all these characters felt stereotypical to me and forgettable, as does this book.

A must read

This book was so much more than I thought it would be. This is the first book I have read by this author and I am all ready to read her next book. She sent us on a journey that covered a lot of emotional topics with a grace and understanding that sucked me right into the story. I loved that many of the characters redeemed themselves, that she set us right up for the next book, and that this couple reached their HEA. I am really looking forward to the next book in this series.

Meredith was the program director of Teens and Greens and was worried because the program was going to lose the leasing. The owner of the building Liam Conroy was going to open a werebear culinary school and needed the building. To add to her problems her father was released from the penitentiary earlier. He had killed a bear shifter in what he called an accident and was sentence to jail. Now he was on parole and wanted to go home with her and she didn’t knew what to do. Her father had been a rough man and the incident had affected her life. She wanted nothing to do with big men let alone Bears. Liam Conroy was the alpha of his Clan and had a serious problem in his hands. He had participated on a lottery to decide which males will seek a human woman to mate and have cubs. Years of inbreeding had affected the births and weakened the Clan so, time to bring fresh genes from the human pool. He had won and had to set a good example and accept his fate. When Meredith met Liam ready to present him with alternatives to keep the lease something happened between them. Liam’s bear was reacting to her scent. They were draw to each other but Meredith knew who he was, the son of the man his father had killed. And she was attracted and afraid. Liam was decided to have Meredith and was forcing things to make her accept him. They got intimate but she was still hesitating and he decided not to force her. Meredith was sure things will be worse when Liam knew the truth about who was her father and when she tried to tell him he won’t listened. She felt trapped and caught in a situation she could not win. Liam was tired of wait. Very good and interesting story. Meredith had a lot in her plate. Contradictory feelings about her growing up had made her lose confidence in herself. Her work, helping others, was what gave meaning to her life. All this years she had felt guilty because she thought that in some way, she had pressed her father and therefore his behavior. On the other hand Liam was struggling with his feelings and his bear hard ways. He needed to stay in control always and Meredith was not subjecting to him. The story has suspense and action with the fights and hot sex with the mate thing rambling between Liam and Meredith. Liked the main and secondary characters. Besides Liam and Meredith, the drama between Tamar and Alphonso promise more interesting stories. Think I’m going to keep a close eye in these books because I like very much the development of the story.

An awesome story that touches on the subject of guilt by association, with lots of hurting, patience, and an overabundance of love that will help almost anyone break through the barriers we put up to protect our most vulnerable organ, our heart. Meredith has harboured a pain in her heart for over twenty years, believing the acts of her father so many years ago were all her fault, even though she was such a young child at the time. She has never forgiven herself, and pays penance for her “crimes” every day of her life, at least in her own mind. Liam is the den Alpha, and has been selected as one of the ten eligible bachelors of the clan that will need to find a human mate in order to bring new “genes” into the clan for stronger cubs, because the level of interbreeding among the clans is starting to show with deformed and unhealthy cubs. Not looking forward to the “job” set before him, he is more or less blindsided by the fire-top bombshell that is vying for his attention after he’s purchased the building her project currently leases. As soon as Mere approaches him, Liams’ bear sits up and starts to pay attention. He knows she’s his mate and all he has to do is convince his human side that she’s his, no matter what! But there’s a secret or two that these two are holding close. Will they destroy their relationship before it even gets off and running once revealed? Or will they be able to work it out? A lot of action in this fast paced, yet complete story that will have you on edge and/or in tears throughout it’s entirety. Well done!

Tasteful Territory

This was a engaging read about a bear shifter and a human with a terrible secret. I liked how the plot slowly unfolded and all the action that were out didn’t see coming. The characters are interesting and made me want to read more about them. I would buy more books by this author.

Liam' s Bride, Clan Conroy Brides Series, Book One, 191 pages.
This is the first book I've read by Emma Alisyn and I found it to be well written and engaging. She does a good job of character development and world building and provides a quick read that isn't simplistic. It is a standalone series opener with an HEA and I will definitely read more of the series.
Meredith has a teaching degree but doesn't want to leave her home town to find a full time job. She works two jobs, barely getting by, but her passion is her job with Teens and Greens, a program for troubled teens at the local YWCA where they learn gardening. So when she learns the building housing her program has been sold to a bear shifter/restaurateur who plans to film a cooking show there, she knows she will have to approach him about letting her program stay.
Liam, the Alpha of his Bear Shifter Den, is in a predicament. He has been ordered by the Council to mate with a human to bring in new blood. He strongly believes that there must be a better way to save his race until he meets Meredith on a walk through of the building he just bought. Now he is seeing potential, because he is very interested in this particular human and it appears the interest is mutual. But Meredith has a secret that she is afraid to share with him even as their relationship develops, because she knows it will change his feelings toward her and jeopardize the program for the teens she has come to love. And as time goes by, the stakes continue to rise.

CAPTIVATING & STEAMY ROMANCE!

LIAM'S BRIDE - Clan Conroy Bride book 1-A captivating romantic story.

This story features; Liam, a heart-stopping gorgeous, charismatic bear-shifter, Alpha to the Clan and Chef/restaurant owner; Meredith, a fiery red-headed, curvy, beautiful human, and teacher of teens in an after school program; Brick, a young teen girl being abused.

What you'll find in this story; a cast of remarkably impressive and engaging characters; spectacular story-line, picturesque and dynamic scene descriptions, phenomenal banter, family issues, gripping suspense, earth-shattering heart-pounding sensual romance, and a melt your heart conclusion leaving you wanting more.

Meredith's dad is out of jail. He does a HEORIC DEED to turn the tables on how everyone perceives him.

SPECTACULAR fast past well written read by a truly gifted author. The fusion of authenticity and fantasy make this a most impressive story. The characters spring to life with powerful scene descriptions. I love Meredith's character and her compassion for the teens and Brick. Liam's unwavering devotion for Meredith shines like a beacon and their romance is more than steamy. I relished this story, a most exhilarating read, and look forward to reading more books by this author. If you treasure shifter romance this is a terrific book for your library.{I received a copy of this book for a completely honest review}. In the world of shifter romance the possibilities are endless and always fascinating. Without reservations I recommend this book.

A great start to a new series. It lays the groundwork and introduces characters that will follow in more books. (At least you hope to see these characters in the next series because you like them.)

This is a well written full story that has great character depth, has good emotional depth too. You meet the characters that are pertinent to this story and you would like to see more. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. (I just got the 2nd book in the series!)

Meredith has tried to stay low-key her entire life because of a crime her father commited when she was younger. She is a counselor at a YWCA teaching gardening to the children there when she finds out that the building is being sold. She has been chosen to be the one to speak to the new owner to see about saving their trainings.

Liam is a famous chef who has his own restaurant and has expanded into a cooking school/tv show. He buys the perfect building and now is dealing with a human he finds is his mate who wants to continue her gardening trainings. As the head of his clan of were-bears, who were recently informed that some would need to mate with humans to sustain their race, he fought against it at first, until he meet his human mate in Meredith. She has a secret she tries to share with him, but he doesn’t want to hear it. At least until her father gets out of jail and his sister finds out that Meredith’s father is the man who killed their father. Opps! And to make matters worse, Liam has gotten Meredith pregnant with his cub.

This is the first book in the Clan Conroy series, and starts with the Alpha Bear himself, Liam. He has been ordered by the Mother's Council to find a human bride in order to widen the gene pool. He isn't too happy about this, until he meets Meredith and his Bear sits up and takes notice. Meredith doesn't want to be attracted to Liam, especially considering the secret she hides. However, when it comes to Shifters and their Mates, nothing usually gets in their way - not even murder.

This is a fast-paced story that was thoroughly enjoyable. However, there are a couple of things where the build up fails to materialise. For example Meredith is dreading her father coming home, but once he is there, she accepts it. Meredith is stressed that the YWCA is going to be closed, but it is sorted out with ease. Now I'm not saying that there should be conflict for the sake of it, but these things were built up to be big issues, and then sort of fizzled out. I won't even mention the history between Meredith's father, Harvey, and Liam and his family.

All in all though, this was a sweet and hot Alpha romance that I can definitely recommend.

* I received this book from Romance ARCade in return for a fair and honest review.*

we start the series with the alpha of the clan. he bought the local school complex and is planning to overhaul it completely. that is until meredith enters the picture and fights for her own program and students. she actually has a smart pitch to convince him to let her stay.
she's more then intriguing him and his bear and it doesn't take him long before he's on board with his bear, that they both want to see a lot more of her.
when meredith figures out who the new owner is, she plans on how to plea for her students. the other big secret is harder to come clean with because it's her father that has killed his father but she feels responsible for her father's actions because back then she was acting like a spoiled little child.

how will this turn out? how will liam take the news about who she really is? how will the rest of his clan react to that?
is there something worth saving?

a good start to this series about the conroy clan! quick reads that help you get through a few gaps throughout the day.

Wonderful!! We have Liam, Alpha Werebear Chef, that has been chosen to be one of the males to mate with a human female and have lots of cubs to introduce new genes into their den. Then, he meets Meredith, a human female, that is wanting him to let them keep their lease in a building that he owns for a program that she does for local teens. They have lots of chemistry from the beginning, but she is keeping a secret that her father is the man that had killed Liam's father. This book is definitely a book with lots of hot, sexual chemistry, but it is also about forgiveness. My favorite part is when Meredith, after trying for days to get a meeting with Liam to discuss the lease, goes to dine at his restaurant and complains about her desert, knowing that that will get him out of the kitchen and at their table, and it worked perfectly. I received this book from the author in return for an honest review. I highly recommend this book, and can't wait to read book 2.

Love This Story.

This was really good. You can just think what it would be like.. Finding someone who finally interest you more than you fear them, who is also drawn to you but a secret of who you father is could make him hate you. He says he doesn't need to know what you think he needs to know, your relieved. Pregnant then he thinks you lied , a kid is attacked but your bad father tried to help her and was nearly killed. Finally a HEA with love, familiar and friends. Looking forward to the rest of this series.

Liam's Bride

Liam is alpha of his clan. The Mothers have chosen 10 names of male bear shifters to mate humans to save their clan. Meredith is human and teaching troubled teens to garden. Liam has bought the Y and is turning it into a culinary school. Meredith tries to get a meeting with Liam to allow her to keep her school and garden at the Y. This book is very well written and enjoyable.

Didn't feel like 300 pages. Which is a good thing. I got to say, I'm not that impressed with the editing. Not sure if its the edition I'm reading but there isn't much seperation between sections. It went from they're making up to her checking her phone and there wasn't a gap in between...
Story is ok. Not HP about the anal sex but thats her bum not mine.

Great story

The heroine has a huge secret and the tension of telling the hero is stretched out perfectly. The uncertainty of the relationship is very realistic. Liam can be an jackass but he realizes his flaws and acknowledges them, which is huge for an alpha. Wish Brick's story had been bigger. Hopefully she will get her own bear.

liked this short read. You have Liam and Meredith who need to except each other for differences. Can Liam get over Meredith being human and what her dad did to his family? The only thing that I felt could have been better is a few scenes that was in one place, than all of a sudden in another place with nothing showing that they moved to another room or place. For a short read it was good.

Truly heartfelt

At first, I felt as if the book was going to be like most bear shifter books. As the storyline continued on, I realized it's so different and it was like a very emotional rollercoaster. With others involved with their stories and the main storyline, it truly opened up for more stories to be heard! Can't wait to read about more males in the Conroy Clan!

I enjoyed this book. I think it does what it set out to do quite well. It introduced us to Clan Conroy, their current troubles, and some background of why we find ourselves here. I kind of felt like Liam and Meredith were a bit over the top. Many of their reactions went to extremes. However, I can also understand those extremes in this kind of fated-mates shifter story. Because I read books in the Lifestyle, there really wasn’t anything in here that was a particular surprise to me in terms of their intimate encounters. Though, judging by some of the reactions to this book, it may be a bit startling if you’re not used to it. Now that I’ve started to get to know some of the members of Clan Conroy, I’m interested in reading more.

Liam's Bride is a fun paranormal romance by Emma Alisyn. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Alisyn has given readers a well-written book. I enjoyed the characters. Meredith is teaching teens how to garden and turn the produce into things to sell, plus she teaches online classes. The building they use is now sold to Liam for a culinary school. Liam and Meridith's story is packed with drama, humor, sizzle, action, secrets and suspense. I enjoyed reading Liam's Bride and look forward to reading more from Emma Alisyn in the future. Liam's Bride is book 1 of the Clan Conroy Brides Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

This was a fairly quick read, and I didn't dislike it enough to go down to two stars, but I did have a few issues with it. One is how often Liam talked about being forced into his situation. He'd say he's happy one minute but then complain about having been forced into the situation and making the sacrifice the next. I also don't like how things between his sister and Meredith when the truth came out. What happened just got swept under the rug, and no one cared or reacted? Definitely not okay with that one. Lastly, Meredith was way too forgiving to Liam's sister and to Liam in many situations. She went back and forth between "I won't take this," to just accepting however others wanted to treat her, and talk to her, as being okay when it wasn't.

A Clan On The Edge

Liam has been chosen, along with nine others, to seek a human mate. It is essential to their clan, that they broaden the gene pool. Liam’s bear chooses Meredith, who holds a dark secret from her past, that could destroy everything. This was a quick read, though I felt the story was rushed. I enjoy back story and really getting to know the characters. However, I did enjoy this story.
