Presenting a revolutionary lifestyle approach for the whole family, this step-by-step guide will help you to reduce your child's stress and anxiety levels by regulating their environment, eating and nutrition, energy, and encouraging emotional self-regulation. Children with autism often experience very high stress levels in learning and social environments, which can exacerbate problem behaviors and damage their physical and emotional health. This book demonstrates that lowering stress levels through regulating a child's experiences and environments, and giving them the tools to cope when stressful situations are unavoidable, can make a huge and very positive difference to their behavior, physical health, socialisation and happiness. Brimming with exercises, recipes, tips and real-life examples, this warm and supportive guide will help you transform the life of your child with autism and benefit the whole family.
I borrowed this book from my local library not only because my younger brother and I have autism, but because I was curious. It was kind of informative and resourceful to me because I learned a couple of things and realize how I may be able to improve in my day to day functioning. I even noticed that the approaches that the author mentioned can apply to ways in which we can help my younger brother as well. I was shocked when I realize that this book was published recently and excited that it taught people about Center For Discovery which is located in the county I live. I also did not know there was an assessment and evaluation location in Manhattan.
Helpful beginning look into a holistic approach to interventions to relieve stress in those with Autism. Gave me a few insights into some of my sensory and stress issues. Not a deep dive, but that’s why I’m studying bio psychology, to get a better hold of the physiology that goes with sensory and behavioral issues.
I found this book’s coverage of the dynamics of stress and how to address it helpful, even though it is focused on children and autism. The rest of it seems like it would be especially helpful to parents working with an autistic child. The writing is concise and practical, with just enough explanation of the research behind the concepts.
