Peer tutoring is essentially equipping pupils with the tools to help each other learn. Based on a coaching model it will move both the peer tutor and tutee forward in that it enables both pupils to have a dialogue about learning and reinforces and embeds learning from the classroom. Both the tutor and tutee benefit from peer tutoring. Peer tutors are taught coaching skills and the tutees gain confidence from learning with an older pupil. The peer tutoring programme been designed collaboratively by Judith Tolhurst and Neil Harris.
