Not for me

Unfortunately, despite this one having a meatier storyline, the book just did nothing for me. I finished it, but I skimmed loads as I couldn't wait to finish it. Despite skimming over large chunks I didn't feel like I missed anything vital. I found both Melodi and Abby equally annoying.
I hate not enjoying a book, and not being able to leave a good review for the author, because they worked so hard on it. Unfortunately this series was not for me.

Reading the sequel to a good book always makes me happy. The Missing One by Liz Lovelock is no exception. It was a gripping, fast-paced, whirl of a novel that made me turn page after page trying to figure out what happened next.

Since the characters are all the same in this book, with the exception that it’s told from Abby’s point of view instead of Melodi’s, it is still an absorbing read. As I stated in my review for the first book, The Lost One, I was really interested to read Abby’s view of things even though it was Melodi’s story. I wanted the inside peek on what I considered the bigger story as that’s what drove Melodi to do everything she did throughout the first book—everything she did, she did for Abby.

The Missing One is a heartfelt tale that brings the love of two sisters forced apart back together and expanded again. This book is a constant read; if one puts it down, I’d find it hard to leave. It is ensnaring and a thrilling page-turner. From Abby’s point of view, we get her side of things and why everything happened the way it did and why she did it. The story goes deeper than what Melodi ever thought it did and, by reading Abby’s side of things, the reader gets to go through that story and see it for themselves, along with the characters.

Along with the theme of love and hope throughout these novels, is the theme of family and what people will go through for their families. Not only do the sisters have each other, they have boyfriends and are learning how to start families of their own. They also have their parents and their love for one another throughout the book is astounding because they never give up on one another. That’s what love is. That’s what family is. Lovelock writes a wonderful story with these two books.

I would highly recommend both books to anyone who asked about them. I’m sort of a hard critique so it only received four out of five stars from me, but that doesn’t make it a bad book in any way. It’s warm and inviting and readers should check it out, not only for the story itself, but for the things it inspires as well.

Why did I read this book again? Hm, let me think. I read the first one in the series, laughed so much that I forgot how ridiculously bad it was, and told myself that I need to pick up the sequel to see if it’s as equally terrible. Was I disappointed? Of course not, because my expectations were as low as Melodi’s morals. Where do I begin, honestly?
Ok so remember when I said in my review of “ The lost one “ that the death of Abby was an afterthought? Scratch that- her whole existence is meaningless. No, what I meant to say was just obviously unneeded in this series, having that Melodi is the living and breathing definition of sugar baby goals and that’s all I’m getting from this story. And hey, that’s not a bad thing. If you’re gonna write a story about a bomb ass girl who seduces her boss in less than a month and ties him up with a child, don’t involve this emotional and deep backstory. Leave that to the pros.
Ok so of course there is a lot of drama and sex and violence and kidnapping and sex and weird dialogue and sex and drama and very strange explanation for the backstory... and a lot of drama. Did I mention there was a large amount of sex? As larger as Corban’s

Ego? You thought I was gonna say car. I know 😉😉

Ok kids it’s bedtime. Go get yourself some good literature cause this is so not good reading material. It was so predictable and boring, and sadly.. not as entertaining as the first book. I fell in love with “The lost one”’s horrible voice messages including “I had a wet dream about you” and “omg my sister is dead, but this dude has killer abs”. Why look for Abby when you can have Corban’s

Abs. Bamboozled yet again, I know.

Don’t bother, really. Nice try tho! And to think this was almost $4.. not today Satan.

Oh you authors have given me such a suspicious mind. First I expected Corban to show some twisted part of himself that hadn't been seen. It would have broken my heart but I would have adjusted. Then you bring in Blake who with is connections to Jacob couldn't possibly be good and kind and not have some type of alter ego. But no that's not here you took us it was somewhere totally different. That's what made this story. The characters are strong and true with their own faults some good bt mostly bad. I couldn't get to Abby (stupid stupid girl) so she still lives. Corban has been redeemed,, Blake and Abby's secrets are revealed and the ending is great. A really awesome series I highly recommend.

3.5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐💫
The Missing One is part two of the Lost series and it picks up right where book one left off. It’s a very quick and easy read.

Most of this novel is told in Abby’s POV (the sister who was thought dead but- surprise- she’s alive), and it is told in present time as well as three years in the past. We find out more about Abby’s abusive ex and their relationship, and we also find out how Blake enters her life and how he’s tied to Jacob.

Like in book one, the insta-love romance between the main characters was just too instantaneous for me- I didn’t feel their spark. Abby meets Blake and they feel an immediate connection. Basically from that moment on they have feelings for each other and they only grow from there. So, for me, the romance part of the story didn’t click, but I did enjoy the mystery part of the plot.

A fast-paced and suspenseful read with a little kick of action. All loose ends were tied and all questions that remained at the end of part one have been answered. Overall, a satisfying conclusion to the duet.

The Missing One is the conclusion to the Lost Series and picks up where The Lost One left off. Melodi has come face to face with her sister who she thought was murdered by her boyfriend Jacob 3 years ago. So many emotions go through Melodi at that moment. Jacob continues to harass her by sending messages and flowers. As times goes on she learns more about what happened to Abby during her relationship with Jacob and when she disappeared. There is betrayal, twist and turns that you won't see coming as their journey comes to the final conclusion.

This story line was so interesting, a twin losing her sister (from the first book) and then the continuation of the missing twin's story in this book. The writing was alright but the story was so good that I will give it four stars. I enjoyed the life of Melodi and Abby and the love that they found in their men.
There were a lot of characters that I hope will get there own stories!

What a fabulous sequel to The Lost One...The story continues with even more suspense and near misses, and a few surprises along the way. If you read the first book in the series, you will most definitely have to 'one-click' this book.

maybe 2.5 stars.

Had to see what happened, but skimmed the entire thing as it really isn’t that great of a story. These chicks are just plan stupid or else this author thinks the reader believes the unbelievable. But, hey, it is fiction, just not great fiction.

The Missing One starts off right where it left off in book one The Lost One. Must read them in order. Abby is back from her the dead and everyone wants answers and boy do we get them. I was captivated with this story, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough I had to know what happens next. It was very well written and Intense story. Abby and Blake deserved a second chance to love eachother. Awesome series!

Goes down as another off my 2016 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A book you own but have never read.

Well this one starts off right were we left off in The Lost One. After finding out that her sister Abby is actually still alive, and in her apartment to boot, I’m not at all surprised that she fainted. Her emotions are going to be all over the place already after finding out she is pregnant – with twins no less – so you can forgive her reaction after seeing her sister again when she thought she was dead. Lets hope that she can forgive her sister for putting her and their parents through it all. But trust me she had a very good reason and when you are backed into a corner some times the crazy plans are the only ones you have left.

Even though the blurb suggests that the story is still going to revolve solely around Melodi and her relationship with Corban it is actually more focused on the back-story of Abby and how she has got to the place she is today. I did like how the story was laid out though and found it flowed nicely. While Abby is telling the story to her sister you are almost reliving the moments right alongside her with the flashbacks. With what she went through you can see why she would need to escape the clutches of her ex Jacob – who was and still is a complete control freak psycho! From how he was back then I really think that if she had waited any longer to leave then what her family thought has happened to her might have turned into reality.

With the flashbacks you get to see how Blake played a major part in her escape, he saved her in more ways than one. Not just from saving her physically from her ex but also by getting rid of the mental hold he had over her by making her believe she wasn’t worth anything. You can see very quickly that he would and has done anything and everything to help her. He loves her completely, you can see it whenever he looks at her, but with a secret she has kept from him for years she might just end up pushing him away just when she has finally got him back.

With Jacob on the loose though, ready to strike back and make others suffer for what Abby put him through, the happy reunion doesn’t last long. He knows that Melodi is Abby’s weakness now and with her being pregnant you know she would feel even more protective of her. He has been taunting them for too long to not have a crazy plan up his sleeve – which he does – so lets just hope that he ends up getting just what he really deserves.

I found that Corban’s sister’s storyline could be seen a mile away with how it would eventually play out though. You are intrigued all the same with seeing how and when it will all happen. Its not all doom and gloom though as we still have our ever-romantic Corban showing us what true love looks like. Corban and Melodi are a great couple that work well together. They came together in a whirlwind of romance with plenty of drama thrown in for good measure but would have it no other way. The same can be said for Blake and Abby really. He showed her what true love could really be and hopes to continue to show her and her daughter that for years to come.

Great two part series that will draw you in with its quick wit, sexy drama and thriller intrigue, so check it out.

4 Stars!

I will admit, when I started this ARC, I did have to go back and skim through The Lost One since it has been awhile since I've read it. Once I did, it all came rushing back to me! The way it ended had my heart stopping. Even after I read it for the second time, my heart stopped once again! I remembered the way it ended and the details about the sister but I wanted to get the full details and the emotions that I once had. I really enjoyed, The Missing One. I loved that we got so many answers that we were left with from book 1. This story was FULL of suspense. I liked getting the whole story; down to every detail with the characters. I also really liked the relationships between the characters. Corban, as always, is so powerful, but yet a big teddy bear. The relationship that he continues to have with Melodi, continues to warm my heart. The love and support they have for each other never faltered. I was so excited to get to see their relationship blossom. They truly deserved to be happy. Then there's Blake. I liked Blake from book 1. Not only is he a cop, but he is the sweetest thing and so sexy. I can only imagine what he looked like in his uniform! There were so many times that he would say things that brought tears to my eyes. I enjoyed Blake's story. The Missing One alternates between the past and present so we get to see the connection he had with Abby...before. Blake was there for Abby while she was going through an abusive relationship with Jacob. At first, he would notice her from afar, until he finally approached her, changing everything in Abby's life.

“I’m sorry, I was blind for so long and wasn’t looking until that day I saw you there upset and down. Something within me wanted to help you, then that something grew from wanting to assist you into wanting to be a part of your life. I wanted to save you from the hell you’d been living and to show you what heaven on earth can be like with the right person.”

I loved when he told Abby....

“Please give me a chance to be your.. much better”

I think that this was a great follow-up to book 1. It answered my questions and gave me so much more than I'd expected. I will say that if you're someone that can't handle reading about abusive relationships, this may not be for you. Towards the end, it had my heart pounding and was pretty violent. That being said, it may be a bit harsh for some. But all in all, it was REALLY good!!

Can two lovers finally move on and find their own happily ever after?

Everything in Melodi White’s life is finally perfect. She has an amazing man by her side, she’s made lifelong friends and she’s starting to live the life she and her twin sister Abby dreamed of. But things don’t stay perfect for long.
Melodi lives constantly haunted by the past of her sister Abby and her ex-boyfriend Jacob. Can Melodi and Corban move forward with their relationship when someone she never expected to see again returns, and throws them on to an emotional rollercoaster?
With so much turmoil surrounding them, will their love be strong enough to endure when disaster strikes and Melodi is put in harms way? Will she survive or will Melodi become the missing one? (Amazon Blurb)
How can Melodi move on when she is tormented by Abby’s past? It’s hard enough when your siblings are older or younger to see them suffering, you see them suffering and it tugs at your heart strings, makes you wonder how you can help them and especially worries you, making you restless and crossing your fingers you can help them. Imagine the link existing between twins; according to many, the bond existing between the two is incomparable and stronger than anything else, they feel each other, know when they are in trouble and at times have a distinct language of their own. Liz Lovelock demonstrates that link throughout her second novel of the Lost series as well as the importance of love and trust. Regretfully, I hadn’t had a chance to read the first book in the series, which, quite frankly is necessary, or rather, a better idea since it gives readers a better idea on the background, the situations, the plot and especially the link between the storylines from the first and second books. Even though there are different points of views, I still found that I was missing key parts that would have clarified certain areas in the novel. However, Liz Lovelock wrote an engaging novel that is recommended to the suspense lovers in readers.

3.5 Stars - A sweet NA romance with a really good mystery

This was a nice conclusion to the mystery that started in the first book in the series, The Lost One. A good chunk of the story focuses on events from the past and the story is told from multiple points of view which does help get a better understanding of some of the characters. This is a tough review to write since there isn’t a lot I can say without there being a spoiler!

The characters to me were just ok. Melodi tended to get on my nerves a bit and it’s hard for me to put my finger on exactly why that was. She was a bit immature and self-centered at times, and I was really looking for her to show some maturity as she comes to terms with the events that unfolded in the book. I really liked Jacob, he was the perfect villain – his bi-polar behavior was perfectly written into the story and really worked well.

The mystery itself had some nice twists and turns, and I liked the foreshadowing from the first book that played out in this one. I do wish there was a little more resolution to what drove Jacob to behave the way he did. There was some information given about him, but I would have liked to have gotten a better understanding as to what was going on in his mind and/or what caused his behavior.

There wasn’t really any heat in this story, but there was some nice sweet romance. The characters definitely fell in the New Adult category. What I liked most about the story was the mystery, the author did a really nice job with laying out the story to keep the reader engaged with finding out what would happen next or what had happened in the past. This story is about domestic violence, so I would caution anyone who is sensitive to that subject matter that you might want to skip this one. And I would definitely recommend reading book one, The Lost One, first. This was a good conclusion to the first book and I look forward to see what the author comes up with next.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

This is the second book in this series and they must be read in order to understand what is happening. This book tells the story of what happened to Abby while she was gone and everyone though she was dead. Why she left and how she faked her death. Jacob is coming after Melodi because he believes that she knows that her sister is still alive and where she is. Melodi is pregnant with twins and Corban is doing everything he can to protect her and their unborn children. Melodi has no idea that her sister is still alive until they come home to her apartment and there Abby and Blake are standing there. This book so super emotional; I felt for both Melodi and Abby. Abby felt her only option was to leave and let everyone think that she dead. Melodi is hurt and angry at her sister for letting them think that she was dead and now she is back and putting her new family in danger. They are all in danger until they can figure out where Jacob is and what he is up to. Jacob is crazy and out of control. He seems so charming at first but he is deadly. This book is kind of inspirational; reading about how Abby felt she couldn’t tell anyone or ask for help and her learning that she did have that option. That now that she is back she doesn’t have to hid, that she can take a stand and stop this once and for all. It may not be easy but she isn’t alone; she has family and friends that want to help her through this. There are some little surprise and a couple twists in this book. The book is wonderfully written and the characters are great. This book was just as good as the first one. It was great getting read about how everything happened from Abby’s perspective and having her tell Melodi about everything finally. I would love to read more about the characters in this series. I look forward to reading other books by Liz in the future.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.

Melodi always believed her sister was dead, for years now she has lived with a nagging feeling that her sister’s abusive partner has killed her but she was never able to lay that thought to rest.
But at the end the first book The Missing One, Melodi is dealt a punch to the chest when her sister turns up, very much alive and willing to now share what exactly happened all those years ago.
Melodi needs to hear what Abby has been through, what her life with Jacob was like but it is far from easy listening. Jacob was a sorry excuse for a human being, a spiteful, vindictive, violent man who thought that he had the right to treat Abby despicably.
The story is told from a number of points of view, and is all the better for it.
I liked the fact that Abby had the opportunity to exorcize her past so to speak, to rebuild the relationship that she has missed out on with her sister.
I adore Corban and the way he is with Melodi, he loves her more than life itself and there is nothing that he will not do to see her happy, their relationship is the so strong, it was delightful.
Of all the characters I think Blake was my favourite. He was so sweet and had the knack of coming out with the most amazing things just at the most opportune moment, this sexy assed cop is a smooth talker too! But through the book and almost as a parallel to Abby’s story we get to see Blake’s story too as his is delicately intertwined.
The story was edgy and emotional right up until the point when the author ripped my world part …really I read through veils of tears and with baited breath. That part of this book was probably some of the most harrowing and difficult paragraphs that I have ever read… approach with caution ladies!
I finished the book and took a deep breath, laid my kindle down and could do nothing more than just sit.

In this book you learn a lot about what Abby went through, how she got out and finding love while she was in an abusive relationship. Abby is back after three years and not a word from her. Jacob the man that she ran from three years ago, is going after her again. He sends flowers to the apartment everyday and makes that boys very worried. Melodi is expecting twin and know has the stress to add about having the need to protect her sister and niece Katie from that man. Corban is going to put them up in one of his places that no people know about so that Abby, Katie and Blake can be safe. Abby is keeping a secret from Blake though and she feels terrible about that but she doesn't know how to tell him.
Melodi is expecting twins, she will do anything to protect them and her sister, she trust's Rachel and Flick with her life. Abby is Melodi's sister, did what she had to do to escape even if that ment leaving her family. has a daughter, she also has feelings for Blake. Blake has feelings for Abby, he will do anything to keep Abby, Melodi and Katie safe. He is a cop. Rachel is Corban's sister, Melodi's friend and works at Case Construction. Flick is Melodi and Rachel's friend, she is very protective of Melodi. Katie is Melodi's niece, she is a very sweet, well mannered little girl. Athena is a very rude person, starts to be nice to Melodi for one reason only. Jacob is crazy, he thinks that he still has a chance with Abby. He is a stalker.
This is the second book in the Lost Series. Liz knows how to write a great story. I was hooked from the first page. This book is very well written and the characters were very well developed. I couldn't help but feel very connected to the characters. I look forward to reading more books by Liz.

HOLY INTENSITY BATMAN! I want to say that I had been missing out by not reading Liz Lovelock sooner, but I find myself grateful that I got to read both books in the Lost Series at the same time because I nearly lost it when I had to go to the grocery store after I finished the first book before I could start The Missing One. You MUST read book 1 first.

Melodi White has been haunted by the past of her twin sister and her abusive boyfriend Jacob, but life is finally perfect. She has awesome friends, and an amazing man in her life. However, nothing in life ever stays perfect for long. Someone comes back into her life, that she never thought she would see again, out of the blue. It rocks her world so much, it's making it hard for her and Corban to move forward in their new relationship. As danger stalks them, and Melodi is kidnapped, will they save her in time?

Good Lord, The Missing One took me on a hell of a ride! And I couldn't get enough! Liz Lovelock takes the suspense up a notch, and she kept my heart racing cover to cover. Her character development continues to be perfect, and all the different POV's really made it more intense to me. The storyline is well written, super exciting, and flows perfectly. It's highly addicting from the very first word, and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I LOVE the author's writing style, and more books from her can't come quickly enough. The Missing One is an EXPLOSIVE conclusion to a brilliant series, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

WARNING: MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!

I start off by thanking Liz for the ARC of The Missing One and giving me the chance to read this before it goes live. After reading the first one, I couldn't wait to dive into book 2.

So many emotions running through me with The Missing One. I had to stop and write some stuff down before I finished and could no longer form coherent sentences.

The Missing One is the continuing story of Melodi White only this one includes her sister Abby. “The Lost One” painted a picture of Abby being dead and Melodi mourning for her twin sister but Liz left us hanging when Abby came back into Melodi’s life. In book 2 you go into what happened 3 years ago that lead to her “death” and see just how vile Jacob really is. I have wanted to message Liz many times throughout this and threaten Jacob with cutting off his head with a ban saw because that is what he deserves. Just my opinion though but anyone who treats women like that need to be treated the same way. HOWEVER. I got toward the end and Liz pulled the floor from under me and made my heart stop cold. To the point I thought I couldn’t go on because while I have read some pretty tough things, this is probably one of the hardest things to read. With only 10% to go though, I continued and I am glad I did because that ending did not disappoint. I can’t wait to see what comes next from Liz.

Oh Liz Lovelock Author what have you done to me, that book was absolutely fantastic, I loved The Lost One and with the ending that provided I was like oh come on The Missing One is going to be awesome and I was not disappointed.

I love how this book was written, how we found out what had happened in the past was fantastic, and I loved how it was dual pov but not by who you think. I was expecting to be all in one persons but when Melodi was given chapters I was like yep I love it.

I loved Melodi’s character she was so strong and the way she thought was exactly how I would have thought in that situation. She had a lot to come to terms with and she was fantastic

Corben was beautiful as ever and I just loved his character and the way he loved Melodi was swoon worthy.

I also loved Blake’s character as well he wanted to look after everyone and just do what was right, he was caring, strong and a hot cop.

Abby, what she had to go through and what she put herself through was amazing, to be in the situation she was in is not nice and I don't blame her for what she did. She was a great character as well and was sooo happy we got to know everything.

This story had it all the romance, suspense, action, I just didn't want it too end or put it down, I can't wait to read this duet again and I know I will.

If you haven't read The Missing One or The Lost one you have to do it they are fantastic reads you won't be disappointed.

For three years Melodi had thought that she had lost the one thing in her life that was most important to her - her other half, her twin sister Abby when she disappeared from the face of the earth leaving behind a fiance Jacob. Now she is back and Melodi has alot of questions for her , especially since she has in tow a little girl which is Melodi's niece. Where has Abby been all these years and why did she let her family believe she was dead ? Turns out that Abby's ex boyfriend Jacob was an abuser and liked to control Abby's every move and once she discovered she was pregnant she knew she had to get away, so she did with the help of Blake - a policeman and someone a lot closer to this story than she realised. Now they are back and Melodi herself is pregnant with twins , but what will happen when Jacob realises that they are back and has wormed his way into Melodi's partner Cole's family using his manipulative charm and Cole's sister Athena ? Can Melodi and Abby ever escape from Jacob's torment and torture/mind games ? Or will they stay lost in his games forever ?

If you are anything like me, you would have finished “The Lost One” with lots of questions racing through your brain. I also wanted to read the next book immediately. I wanted those questions answered as well as justice. Thank goodness, that wait is now over!
The Missing One, the second book in the Lost Series, picks up immediately from the cliff hanger ending of The Lost One. I hate cliff hangers, but I loved The Lost One so much, I was willing to forgive Liz Lovelock.
If you thought that The Missing One would contain less drama and suspense than The Lost One, you would be wrong. I can guarantee that you this book will keep you on the edge of your seat, flipping those pages as quickly as you can. I ended up reading The Missing One twice, simply because I wanted to be sure I hadn’t missed important clues in my haste to get to the end.
Now, I’m a bit sad that this journey is over but I can’t wait to read whatever Liz Lovelock writes next.
I gave The Missing One 5 stars.

This is the first time reading anything by this author ,but what an amazing story this is. Everything is perfect in Melodi White's life now. She has amazing man by her side and long time friends. Now she's starting to live her life and her twin sisters Abby's always dreamed of. But the things in her life didn't stay that way. But Melodi is constantly haunted by her sister Abby's past and her ex-boyfriend Jacob. Can Melodi and her man Corban move forward with their life or not? Melodi is shocked when someone she never excepted to see again returns, will Melodi be able to stop her emotional rollercoaster now or not. And will this person bring disaster to Melodi world and she survive or will Melodi come up missing . I could go on and tell you more about Melodi and what happens in her life, but that would spoil the story for you. I highly recommend you read this story, you won't be appointed

The missing One is the continuation of Melodi's story from The lost one. This book ties together all the loose ends. There was so much that I just needed to know from book 1. Well fear not readers you will get all the answers in this instalment.
I found that even though this was a multi POV it didn't affect the flow of the story. We get to hear from Abby everything that went down to lead to her faking her own death & to why she has returned.
Although Melodi & Abby have been reunited things are not about to settle down. There is still the very real issue of Abby's ex Jacob who is determined to make someone pay for him losing her. Can these sisters move on from the drama & danger & begin to live their lives with the men they love or will Jacob make sure that not everyone can escape his clutches?
This book was intense!!! It will not be for everyone as it may act as a trigger for many as it deals with the issue of domestic abuse. If you want a good, intense, mysterious read then pick up the Lost Ones series!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book through Crazy Cajun Book Addicts for an honest review.

I was so excited when this book landed on my kindle after the cliffhanger ending of The Lost One I couldn't wait to jump in and had finished it in just a few hours it completely hooked me again.
After getting over the initial shock of her discovery at the end of book one Melodi has lots of questions that need to be answered. When things take a turn for the worse in Melodi's life will Coban reach her in time will their love for each other get them through possibly the worst times in their lives so they can finally live the long and happy life they are hoping for.
This is an absolute 5 star read and great page turner that keeps you in suspense throughout but please read The Missing one first.
