Unwritten: The Story of a Living System: A Pathway to Enlivening and Transforming Education

Rate this book
There's never been a more chaotic and tenuous time in our nation's educational story. Learning is the most natural thing human beings do. Yet, it seems the "harder" we work in schools helping our students to acquire the learning they need, the academic performances stay stagnant or lessen. Schools are not machines. Schools are a network of human beings who feel, think, behave, and function within a human system that is alive and never static. Schools are living systems! This system is wired to thrive, even through difficult times - Lori and Michael believe that we can begin to create wholeness and connection within our schools mindfully and by design. We can create places where all children thrive.

EVERY school #teacher (as well as #parents, administrators, and students) should somehow find the time to read this book.

This is one of the most important books about schools and teaching, about teachers and students, to come out over the past decade.

As a successful biology and chemistry tutor, I have learned from experience that there is much more to successful classrooms that the specific subject matter. It's about fostering relationships, trust, high expectations, and respect--and it's about what each individual uniquely brings with them to the classroom. It's about how each individual has a major impact on everyone else in the #classroom.

At every grade level, in every subject area, what matters most are the human #relationships between teachers and #students and between students and students. The #social and #emotional components are every bit as important --even more important-- to success, than the #curriculum and #lessonplans. This brilliant book explains how and why, and offers practical solutions that are universally applicable, especially in American #classrooms.

Please, read this book! It offers real hope for positive change.
