Responsible, workaholic bookstore owner, Kaylee Daniels is ready to add a little bit of spice to  her life. She doesn't have a lot of spare time, but what better way to try and occupy her free time  than with a no-strings-attached affair with hunky Italian restaurant owner, Luciano Valenti. The  man has had her fires burning for the past six months. The only problem: she can't be around him  without turning into a stammering klutz. How is she supposed to seduce a man she can't even hold a  conversation with? Since the first Friday Kaylee Daniels walked into his restaurant she's had  Luciano on edge. The foxy woman spilled more drinks than anyone he'd ever seen, but something about
her got to him, bad. Luciano doesn't have time in his life for anything serious. He doesn't want anything serious, and Kaylee is definitely a relationship kind of girl. Or so he thought. . . What happens when two career minded people decide to spend a little more time on themselves and each other? They just might find themselves getting lucky along the way.

Sweet…But Predictable Read

"Getting Lucky With Luciano" is the first novel I've read by Mrs. Kelley Nyrae and I found it to be a pleasant read, although a little slow at times. I thought Kaylee's frequent nervous stammering and klutziness when around Luciano made for some amusing moments. I was also instantly caught up in the fact that for the past six months Kaylee Daniels and Luciano Valenti harbored a secret desire for one another that was becoming much too strong for them to ignore. I was even more intrigued when Kaylee decides she wants to SPICE up her life by seducing Luciano. However, I was disappointed when every time Luciano wanted to add some FIRE to Kaylee's mundane existence she found some reason to put him off or make him wait. I guess with the mutual promise of a "no-strings-attached affair" I was expecting more RED-HOT passionate encounters, however the few intimate encounters they shared were sweet and sensual, they DIDN'T begin to even scorch the pages. With Kaylee constantly pushing Luciano away, I didn't see how they could possibly have ANY type of relationship, with or without strings. And I enjoyed the author's brief hints of an attraction between Nico and Tabby and found myself wondering what would happen with this couple, more than the goings on with the main characters. That being said it was still a sweet, short, and quite the predictable romance. And NOT nearly the erotically charged "gettin' lucky" tale I was hoping to read.

I give it 2 1/2 stars actually. The basic story of two people who are allowing the fear of what might be keep them from love is a good story, very relatable. All the characters including the supporting ones were well thought out and fun to read. It seemed as if Ms. Nyrae had a difficult time getting started with the story because there is a lot a lot of redundancy in the language. How many times is Kaylee our heroine going to tell us she is twenty-eight. The other thing that bothered me is that Kaylee a big reader and owns a bookstore but she doesn't know what "bella" means. Are you serious? The story really goes well once Ms. Nyrae found her rhythm.
