At the age of eighteen, I left my home in California to travel the world like my twin sister and I had planned to do since we were kids and before the accident happened. Now, after eight years, I find myself reluctantly returning home to face the haunting memories of the past. Money is running out, and my brother, Adam, has made it clear that he won't support me any longer unless I agree to settle down in one place. He arranged for me to stay with his best friend while he was out of town and his house was being renovated. Little did I know that this would be the start of a life-altering encounter with billionaire Alex Parker—a strikingly handsome yet arrogantly controlling man who believed he could dictate my choices. Well, he had another thing coming.
Alex
Emerson James was exactly as her brother had warned—mouthy and defiant. She embodied a free spirit, seemingly careless with her life. Definitely not the type I usually went for, despite her undeniable beauty. I preferred dating women of a certain upper-class status—those who knew how to remain composed and excelled in their careers. I thought I had everything I wanted in life and didn't need anything else. Or so I thought, until Emerson came crashing into my world, disrupting everything. She was on the brink of another adventure, and I was determined to convince her to settle down in one place—with me. 18+
Writing is my passion and my mission is to provide readers with romance novels that will whisk them away into another world and from the daily grind of life - one book at a time.
There are some things that bothered me: male protagonist till about mid of the story, h's selfish attitude toward her brother. Some TSTL moments. But I like it nevertheless. Amazing heroine, I floved how sassy she was, how she was with the hero. AMAZING! Complete opposite of doormat.
The wording can be edited or chosen better. The characters should be developed more. The conversation between Alex and Emmerson feels forced, stiff and no depth. No drama, no angst, no twist. It feels like going on the highway and get so boring.
I give it 3 stars credited to Emmerson sassy character. It is a pity such a sassy character but does not develop well.
I just didn't connect with the characters. Heroine was larger than life and I felt sorry for the hero. I absolutely didn't like her brother, felt he really wanted to bring her down a notch or two simply because a) she was a woman, and b) she didn't follow the "normal" path like him. Same goes for hero, nothing bad about him, he's just SO.....normal! I did feel he tied the heroine down rather than letting her fly free however, he is NOT the villain and they DID love each other!

This book is so amazing I'm having withdrawals already. Sandi is forever an amazing writer and have you connected to her characters always. You'll forever feel like these are people you know and love all your life. I tried to take my time to read but it was too good. I laugh, I cried, laugh harder, and swoon over this book. I love each characters, from the little people we've met along the way.
Amazing job, amazing book...can't wait for you come up with next
The story was okay, but I've seen better writing from fan fiction writers. Dialogue was awkward and it was all tell hardly any show.
I liked that Em was a traveler, flying by the seat of her pants and left broken hearts in her wake. She had her reasons. Her parents and twin sister died when she was 16 and since then she's been traveling to all the places her sister and her had dreamed of going.
Em's brother was a douche canoe. He berated her for handling her emotions the way she saw fit. No one gets to do that. He doesn't decide when she settles down or when it's time to visit her families graves. People grieve in different ways and as long as she wasn't hurting anyone, she should be left alone.
Alex, the love interest, was an overbearing jerk. There wasn't one redeeming quality in his character. He was rude, demanding, condescending... and he didn't change. He still treated Em badly, all the way up to the epilogues.
I didn't like that she ran away three times and he chased her each time. Granted, who wouldn't want to run from him.
Safety: Both MC's were experienced. Em had a string of short term relationships since she rarely stayed in any one place longer than 6 months. Alex had many friends with benefits. They were high society women and as soon as they wanted more, he was out. His ex from 5 years ago comes back and Em sees them kiss. She is hurt, but according to him, he never loved the woman. Later Em sees them in a private embrace and gets mad again. The OW had come to confess something she'd done in the past.
I just couldn't connect to the characters, I didn't like them.
The heroine is better than him, she is a smart and sassy woman whereas he is a total as*hole - pompous and uptight!
My actual reason to DNF is the fact that she started to sleep with him while he was still acting like a jerk. I would rather see her make him work for it.
I was impressed that there was equal footing. Both of them are people who lead active casual sexual lives. “She wasn’t... how could I put this nicely? She wasn’t upscale enough. The women I dated and fucked were of high society. They were classy, something Emerson seemed to lack” However, the hero was snooty and judgemental. When they finally sleep together, and she says he's the best, with his stoic posh-boy behaviour it was hard to believe since the scenes were pretty lacklustre themselves. Other than that, he falls faster than her and chases after her. The OW drama had me rolling my eyes.
Cute, quick read. I enjoyed free spirited Em loosening up the very uptight Alex, and Alex helping Em remember all the good reason to put down roots and make a home.
This is the best book I have ever read from Sandi Lynn. It took me less than 3 days to read this book. I never laughed at a book so hard before. It was really funny. And Really sad at the same time. I am surprised this book has not been made to a movie or at least a short term tv series. This is a really beautiful book.
This was very sweet and I really enjoyed the story. Thanks to Sharlot's recommendation this book came to my hands and it was everything she said I would enjoyed, so thank you dear cousin.
This book is chessy, but with many twist... where Hero is Arrogant and Heroin want to put him on his place, which is some trend going on right now but at the same time they push each other and pull each other in different direction, which was confusing but good to read to... I seriously don't know how to write anything about this book... Emerson and Alex are two confuse person put in a same mix, but come out Cool I guess...
I just didn't like where Alex have to be so dumb to get on the plane to Boston to find her...and damn if he have so much money that he can trace all the hotels in Boston can't he used his influence and find he she have boarded the flight... Damn that part was to much of idiotic... Other than that it was Okay read...
I adore Sandi Lynn's stories. I read this one in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down.
Alex is this uptight, pompous jerk. He doesn't believe in settling down and daring the same woman. I couldn't believe how rude he was at times.
I have to say I think Emerson has been one of my favourite heroines for a long time. I loved the sass she gave Alex! After a tragic accident she doesn't believe in letting anyone get too close to her and she hates staying in one place so she keeps moving around every few months. My heart hurt so bad for the things she has been through, she felt like she was only half a person and her outlook on life after the accident was both courageous and sad.
This was a story that pulled at my heart strings but also brought out some unexpected laughter.
Emerson and Parker, lived this couple. He was a business man used to being controlling then he meets sassy mouth Emerson. I loved re connection they had it was very straight to the point no beating around the bush. Emerson never stayed in one place for long and Parker quickly became part of her stability. I just lived their courtship. Everything I live in. Book this story told. Thumbs up.
Truly loved this story! It was an easy read and so endearing, funny and sweet that not a single part of it was boring. Adored Alex and Emerson and hope to read more about them in the future. Highly recommend.
First, I didn't adored this novel but I didn't hate or despise it either.
My main issue: Ah, well, you know, I am all for travelling the world (or rather America,... and Tuscany, oh yeah and Thailand), not staying in one place for long and wanting to feel free and unrestricted but dear Emerson isn't unrestricted. She largely depends on her big brother to get her through cause apparently she never has enough money to make a living. The thing is it's not really his money he is sending her but rather the money their parents left them. Her brother controls her finances and I don't like that one bit. How can she know how much money she can spend, where to go, what to do, whether she needs a Job or not...
She strikes me as a woman who is irresponsible and naive and that with 26. And with the experience she has...
The hero didn't really appeal to me either. He is quite rude and the way he talks to Emerson was a bit too much for me at times...
Writing Style? In general, the writing style isn't my favorite. The dialogues seemed so forced and not authentic. Maybe it's just me, I don't know but their conversations were alien for me. Couldn't imagine them in real life. Plus, there were several repetitions of words. As in the use of heart twice in one sentence.
The plot? Good. Liked the new ideas like the character who is fond of travelling or the complicated relationship between the heroine and her brother etc. And yet J couldn't thoroughly enjoy it...
Emerson James doesn't stay in one place longer than 6 months, no matter who begs her to stay. She's broken more hearts than any man around. She's OK with friends with benefits but serious relationships are not for her. When her only remaining family member, Adam, orders her back to California for 3 months, she's hesitant. He's in charge of her finances, but coming back to California where she lost her parents and twin sister is painful for her. Adam has her staying with his close friend, billionaire, Alex Parker until her brother comes back from Tennessee for work.
Alex Parker is anti-relationships. He does casual sex with many women but has never fallen in love with anyone. Having Emerson stay with him is a new experience. Slowly, he begins to love her smart mouth and her view on life. Knowing that she suffered a tragic loss at the age of 16 makes his heart hurt for her.
When these two opposites fall in love, both are afraid of being rejected by the other, so they keep their feelings to themselves. When Em finds out that Adam was lying about her being broke, she decides to start traveling again to avoid any heartbreak.
Will Alex find Em and confess how he feels? Can he convince her to stay in California with him, where she has found some good memories along with the bad?
On ułożony i zorganizowany pracoholik, niesamowicie sztywny i spięty, ona wyluzowana, bezpośrednia i spontaniczna a przede wszystkim żywiołowa, wprowadza powiew świeżości do jego korporacyjnego życia.
What does in take to seduce a up tight , controlling Billionaire bachelor??
Emerson.was.on the road for 8 yrs.traveling to different parts of the world to live a childhood promise. Her brother didn't give her more time to move around without going back to Her roots. Since he got called away for work he arranged for her to stay with a friend!!! Well talk.about night and day it is a mircale they didn't kill each other due to their completely different attitudes. Ok this sets the story for you but how does it all play out? Emotional trauma plays a big part of this story. Can Em overcome her past by returing home? Can she share her past with any one including her brother to explain why she took to the road and never settled down? How can she live in the bachelor's house without him breaking the Bro code? Will she run again? After all her motto was not to stay too long in one place!! S.Lynn tells another story using real tragedy that can occur in families. So many of Her books has one thing or another that people can experience in life and find a way through it!!
After a tragic accident that left her parents and twin sister dead and her in a coma for months, Em doesn't believe in letting anyone get too close to her and she hates staying in one place so she moves around every few months leaving a string of broken hearts until her brother Adam demands she come home or he won't give her anymore money. But then puts her up in a friends house while he's gone for 3 months. REALLY?! Who does that? And why does a 28 year old need to settle down? Anyway, enter Alex. The uptight butthead she has to stay with. I almost stopped reading when he said she was not classy enough for him, but I knew Em would bring him down a peg or two. The rest of the book was fluff and push and pull between them. The sex "scenes" were terrible because Brian Pallino is so mono-toned and Emma Woodbine sounds like a little girl. While the back story was strong and tragic, their story was kinda weak but I did like the ending, so that's where the 3rd star comes in.
This was a really good book, the story line was great. Lost of great back story and building for the main female character. She travels the world seeing the sights, learning and living life. her bother tells her that she's running out of money and has to come home. In doing so he tells her to stay at his billionaire friends house for 3 months because he will be away. She and the billionaire butt heads but end up falling inlove. She teaches him to be a bit more humble and not have a life about just work. So it was great HOWEVER I will say the book was a little too long there were so many chapters that this could have ended with. It just kept going to the point of none sense all I will say is the scene when she goes to surprise him with lunch. THAT was redick. But other than that I reccoment!!
Alex is strict in his routine, he is bossy and loves structure - Emerson is a free spirit, outspoken and sarcastic - she has been traveling the world and then moving on. She has been doing this for years since she lost her parents and twin sister in a car wreck she was lucky to have survived.
When her brother asks her to come back to California and stay with his friend until he gets back from an extended business trip she had no idea how much meeting Alex would change her life.
