Does the heart ever really forget what it once knew?Esme Westbrook travels to Portofino, Italy for an encounter that will determine the outcome of the rest of her life. When the man of her dreams arrives at the Hotel Splendido, will she find the courage to step out and take a chance on happiness?
Virginia author Inglath Cooper fell in love with reading as a little girl, devouring most of the books in her elementary school library. At some point, she decided she wanted to pursue a writing career, creating romance fiction that did for others what her favorite books have done for her. “I love character-driven books that leave me feeling as if I’ve really known these people and make me wish I didn’t have to turn the last page.”
“Romance fiction has always appealed to me because it deals with so many of the relationships in a woman’s life. Not only the love of her life, but often her relationship with her mother, sister or best friend. Romance authors have so much room to explore many of the meaningful moments and transitions in women’s lives. And who doesn’t love a good love story?”
Inglath most often writes stories about love and life that are set in small Virginia towns like the one where she grew up. “I like to think the flavor of my hometown shows up in my books both in their setting and through the characters who people it.”
When aspiring writers ask her how to be an author, she says, “Everything I know about writing books I learned from reading books.”
Inglath has been chosen as a RITA® Award winner for best long contemporary romance novel given out each year by Romance Writers of America. Her books are available through Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, itunes.com, and Kobobooks.com.
Outside of writing, Inglath is actively involved in dog rescue, working with The Franklin County Humane Society to place dogs and cats in need of rehoming. She volunteers her time in every capacity possible: serving on the Board of Directors, fundraising, photographing dogs and cats available for adoption and serving as a foster home. “Helping an abused or neglected dog go on to have a wonderful life with a family who loves them is more rewarding than I can possibly say.”
This is a short story, a tense and wonderful story of bringing true love back into one's life. Esma has traveled to Portofino, Italy in hopes of once again finding that love after 20 years of marriage. Many of those years were full of happiness. Is she asking too much to try to return that happiness into her future life? All she wants is to love again...and to be loved. She has agreed to spend one week in paradise with a man who also needs to find love again. Can they both achieve this mission in one week? Inglath Cooper has written an exciting, excellent story which sweeps you into the two character's feelings and emotions. It is a true classic. The novel is beautifully formatted including colorful photos of Portofino and with meaningful quotes. No spoilers here ... just read this amazing story and you'll want to read it over, and over again.
This is an incredible story and I thought when I bought it, that it was a full length book. It was a short story beautifully written. Such a disappointment. The book includes a free bonus of another of her books. Not a full length My Italian Lover book, which I anticipated reading.
This was a visual gift from this amazing author ! Hauntingly and singularly one of the most sensual but without sex books I have read. You can see and feel the aMalfi coast be still my heart. Thank you the journey continues.
A short sweet novella taking place in Portofino, Italia. It is the story about Ryker and Esme who are in Italy to reconnect. Both Ryker and Esme are married to each other but Ryker forgets their past because of a terrible fall he endured during a hiking trip. He forgets that they were about to get a divorce. Esme must come to terms with the truth and tell Ryker where they were in their relationship and why they were going to divorce despite the fact that they both have changed since the accident and despite the fact that Ryker can't remember life before. Ultimately it is a novella about love, loss, moving on and starting over. While not my favorite book, still sweet enough to enjoy the main message of the story, which is that "love conquers all".
I’ve read several of Cooper’s books and was particularly taken with That Month in Tuscany. That being said, I was really looking forward to reading this one. But I was disappointed in that this was more of a short story than a real book. While it’s listed as 168 pages, the book is actually two short stories under one cover. The second introduces you to a 6 part series that is entirely different. So back to My Italian Lover – it was very easy to determine that the lover Esme was meeting in Italy was her husband, although you had to read the story to understand the reason behind the meeting. It was emotional, well written and although predictable, it was an enjoyable read. But it is much too short to be considered a book.
Ms. Cooper is one of my favorite authors. I have read all her books. However, this story, though interesting and picturesque, should never have been marketed as a book. It is a very short story and an ad for her Nashville series which I have already purchased and read. Disappointed.
Disappointing i was into the story and thought it was good then nothing it ended abruptly didn't realize it was a short story followed by another whole book which was a free Kindle book ive read several books by Inglath Cooper and have thoroughly enjoyed each one but again disappointing
Was surprised that the book was about a married couple. At first it seems like a woman meeting a secret lover. As the story unfolds she tells him they were getting a divorce. His memory loss after a terrible fall turns out be a blessing. He decides to marry her again. They get a fresh start and a chance to love again. Ms. Cooper writes fantastic love stories.
This is a very short, sweet read. Esme and Ryker are on vacation in Italy where they are looking for a fresh start. Ryker had a serious accident and lost his memory, but he remembers that he loved Esme. It's a chance to start over, but first Esme needs to be honest with Ryker.
A book I was unable to put down. From the minute I started this book I had to read it all. Very lovely romantic novel. Author is an excellent writer and I look forward to reading many more of her novels.
Truth be told I don’t read romance novels. This author makes me feel more like I’m reading good drama. The title is misleading but, it’s still a great getaway from the world on a Sunday afternoon.
Sweet short read. It (the plot) took me a bit by surprise, but in a good way. The hea went in an unexpected turn. It's ok, but sudden and the reason for only 3 stars rather than 4.
A beautiful love story about a man and woman attempting to reclaim love. No spoilers. This is a short read that is elegant in feeling and should be savored. Makes me want to travel to Portofino.
Oh my this is a beautiful story of two people that have lost their way from each other,Esme and Ryker are in Italy and trying to find their way back to each other, just a beautiful second chance romance.Inglath Cooper just makes you feel it all you need to read this beautiful story.
I enjoyed this story especially with it being written in Portofino one of the places I've wanted to see for a long time. Thank you, Inglath Cooper, for well written short love story.
