The NKJV Thompson Chain-Reference Bible is a red-lettered Bible with numerous study aids.

This Bible simplifies preparing lesson plans, sermons, or personal themed studies. Once you chose your topic, you can find all related verses with ease.

One feature I really like is the section in the back of the book displaying vividly colored maps. I enjoy having maps to refer to when I’m trying to figure out logistics or to visualize distance, area, etc. 16 full-color maps, free from a glossy sheen or glare, are included. I also appreciate the biographical notes and illustrations of many key Bible figures.

Additional features I like:

• Protective sleeve
• Sturdy, high-gloss hardcover
• Presentation page for gift giving
• Very little page show-through
• Attached gold satin ribbon marker
• Lay flat design
• The ease of finding chained references

I received a complimentary copy of this Bible as a member of BG²

Twenty-seven years ago I received my first copy of the Thompson Chain-Reference Bible as a gift. Over the course of several moves, my original Bible got lost in transit, so I was thrilled to receive a new copy of this Bible (in my favorite translation) as a Bible Gateway Partner!

There are hundreds of Study Bibles on the market but the Thompson Chain-Reference Bible is like no other. What makes this Bible unique is the system of more than 100,000 biblical “chain links” that the inventor of this Bible created in 1890. You use these chain links (references) to look up a topic you want to research and the chain links reference every occurrence of a verse on that topic in the Bible!

But there’s more. This Bible also contains extensive references including Bible outlines and character studies, Bible harmonies and illustrated studies, a concordance, Hebrew calendar, and colored Bible maps. If you are interested in doing a topical Bible study, this is the Bible you want to own, as this Bible references over 8,000 topics!

If you are a new Christian, you will probably find this Bible a little overwhelming and advanced for your needs (I did, when I received my initial copy 27 years ago). But now, I can’t wait to dig into it! And, as you might imagine. this Bible is an indispensable reference for pastors, Bible teachers, serious Bible students, and anyone who wants to dig in and do topical research in the Bible!

I highly recommend this reference for your Bible Resource library.

January 17, 2014, I finished my "read the Bible in a Year" program that I did with my parents. It took me about 13 months to complete, which isn't too bad. :)

In regards to this Bible, I received it as my confirmation gift in 2004. I have kept it in a soft case for the majority of that time, and it is has held up very well. I like the New King James translation a lot, and the chain reference and extensive materials in the back of this Bible are really helpful.

Typically I feel a touch of sadness when having finished a book because the first adventure is over. However, my doing this read-through-in-a-year program, I realize how little I know about what this Book contains and especially how little I know about what it means... This is probably the only Book that gets increasingly meaningful and special with subsequent readings!

The Thompson-Chain Study Bible has been on of my favorites since I was a child. I grew up with the KJV Thompson's using it in the Christian school I attended. This edition was my main Bible used in the 2000's. I highly recommend it for serious Bible Study.
