رواية أدبية تاريخية عن حياة زنوبيا ملكة تدمر. مزجت الكاتبة فيها بين الواقع التاريخي، والخيال الأدبي. فأظهرت عملًا أعادت به كتابة التاريخ، بقلم الأديب وليس المؤرخ. بدأت الكاتبة بسرد الرواية منذ صبا زنوبيا التي كانت تهرب من مربيتها لتلعب مع صديقها “أودو” إلى أن تقع بالأسر في يد جنود قيصر روما نتيجة خيانة من أقرب المقربين إليها.!
رواية شيقة وجميلة مليئة بالمفاجآت، ليت أعمال هذه الكاتبة كلها مترجمة لكنت قرأت كل رواياتها.

Es una novela histórica publicada en 1998, narra la vida de Julia Aurelia Zenobia, una joven reina que gobernó la ciudad de Palmira en el año 260 d.C. y desafió al Imperio Romano. El relato se centra en su ascenso al trono de Palmira tras la muerte de su esposo y cómo condujo a su pueblo hacia la prosperidad, incluso sometiendo a Egipto. Sin embargo, su poder y riqueza desencadenaron la enemistad del emperador romano, lo que llevó a una guerra contra ella.
La historia destaca la belleza e inteligencia de Zenobia y cómo utilizó su encanto para ganarse a hombres y mujeres por igual. La novela también menciona su ambigüedad sexual como un aspecto de su astucia. A pesar de su éxito inicial, Zenobia enfrentó intrigas y finalmente fue derrotada por el emperador Aureliano, deshonrada y exhibida como un trofeo de guerra en una procesión triunfal.

one of the most terrible books I've read! I actually wanted to give it (-5) stars! usually, I don't finish a book if I didn't like it, I don't force myself to read it from cover to cover, but there is an exception to this rule whenever the book is extremely provoking, I read till the end to see how the author managed to finish the plot if there is one!
This horrendous book is a complete and utter disgrace! for us Syrians, Queen Zenobia was an honorable, wise, and brave woman who defied Rome and all its glory to bring peace and freedom to her people and allow them to thrive and prosper in the beautiful oasis of Palmyra, and she actually managed to shake Rome to its core, to the point where they razed the whole city to the ground so that no one ever dares to do what Zenobia once did.
What happened to Zenobia varies according to sources, Arab sources conclude that she succeeded to commit suicide somehow, to deprive Aurelian of parading her in Rome, other resources state that she did want to Rome and live the rest of her life there.
Meanwhile, in this atrocious novel, Zenobia is portrayed as a disgusting human being, I couldn't fathom what the author was going for but it was truly nauseating in many parts! some pages I couldn't read!!, the writing was tacky, vulgar, incomprehensible, flat and bland, arranged, horny, animal-like low characters even for the standards of the ancient history society!
And don't let me start with the Arabic translation! it was so bad, it would've been better to let Google Translate do the job!
Finally, I don't think I have ever never hated a book with such a passion! congratulations to the author! she managed to make me hate not only Zenobia and Palmyra but also the entire history of the region! no one could ever turn Palmyra and its queen into such a repulsive memory, not even Aurelian himself!

لم تطوع الكاتبة شخصية تاريخية، عملاقة ومؤثرة لتجعل منها رواية حميمية وحسب بل جعلت شخصيتها وفكرها هما الغالبان على الأحداث المسطّرة فقادتني في كثير من الأحيان إلى عصر النهضة، إلى فرنسا، عارضة قضايا العصر ومناقشة لها كاستقلالية المرأة، المثلية الجنسية، حرية الجسد وما إلى ذلك، بصورة أُطّرت باسم زنوبيا.
ذكرت الكاتبة أن زنوبيا قتلت زوجها بيد أن التاريخ يذكر واقعة اغتياله على يد قريب له مع جماعته وقد قاصصتهم بنفسها بعدما أمسكت بهم، كان لها أولادا ثلاثة، كثيرة السفر، تلقت علومها في الإسكندرية، وترتدي ملابس الرجال لا تشبها بهم بل لكونها أكثر تلبية لمتطلباتها الفروسية والقتالية القادرة، وقد ذكرها التاريخ الروماني بالصفات المذكورة نفسها، سمراء بعيون واسعة وطلة مهيبة.
كنتاج كلي وجدتها رواية مختلقة بأحداث غلب فيها الجنس، الخيال والأساطير على الوقائع، إذ لم تتوافق حتى أسماء الشخوص كليا مع التاريخ، فكانت على غير ما شوقني إليها إذ ظننها من النبذة على الجلد الخارجي رواية فيها من وقائع الحرب، التواريخ، تفاصيل التجهيزات والخطط العسكرية ما لم أقرأه سابقا لكنها لم تكن عند ظني.
كسرد روائي مختلق فيها من الجمال ما لا يصح نفيه ومن البناء ما لا يصح هدمه لكن بعيدا عن التاريخ أو ما قرأتها سعيا لمعرفته.

I read this book when I was in middle school. I don’t like to write negative reviews, but I have to say that this was the first time that I don’t complete reading a certain book. It’s not that the writing style wasn’t good, at the opposite, it was actually good and I liked the details and the wide imagination of the writer. The writer is really capable of descriptive and creative writing. I enjoyed reading the first 100 pages about Zenobia the kid and her adventures with her friend Odo . However, after that everything just collapsed and started to be disappointing. I was looking for a book about Zenobia and her adventures, not a pornography.

No cabe duda de que la historia de la reina Zenobia y de cómo una pequeña ciudad como Palmira llegó a desafiar el poder de todo un imperio romano (por más decadente que éste fuese ya), es interesante. No obstante, al libro le falta algo. Creo que Tessa no logra dar profundidad a los personajes, se quedan planos y convierten la historia en un mero transcurrir de sucesos sin mayor interés que el histórico. La s historias paralelas que deberían animar y engrandecer la principal, simplemente no tienen peso, ni relevancia y, en más de un caso, ni sentido. Seguramente hay mejores opciones para conocer esta historia que, en todo caso, no está mal relatada aquí.

If anyone is looking for pornography, then this is the book.
I only read 200 pages. In the first 100 pages there was a good talking about Palmyra, but then everything collapsed!
Characters are purely disgusting, and pornography was the only option for the writer to write.
