COMING 01.11.16

When it was good, it was great.
When it was bad, it was worse.

My life turned into a whirlwind of destruction before I even got the chance to love her.
She could have been my angel, my saving grace; I never gave her the chance.
I gave myself a taste of her angelic kiss, convincing her to love with everything she had. Then I destroyed her. I destroyed both of us and I felt nothing as I did it.

I didn't feel anything in my sorry state.

We both had secrets and both of them would have destroyed us in one way or another.
Hers could have possibly been bigger than mine, but I doubted it from the start.
I knew I had the quality of devastation within me the entire time.

After all,
I'm the king of lies.
I'm the king of addiction.
I'm the king of turmoil.
I'm the king of motherfucking heartbreak.

This is fiction so I'm giving this book a very cautious four stars not due to any romance that may loosely occur within it's pages but because of the author's very accurate accounting of the downward spiral of a cocaine addict.

So I will put these stars on paper so that they do not cover my eyes & cloud my judgement.

After a one time thing with the heroine, our hero goes on a 6 month fuck rampage in front of her while high on drugs to erase her taste.During courting her,he cheats rampantly.

Cheaters Truth:

There lies my glorious “boyfriend,” stark naked, his arms wrapped around another fucking bimbo who could be the other's twin. They're both laying comfortably in each other's arms, her breasts covered by his large tattooed hand. Their breathing is even, letting me know they're both asleep, but at this point, I wish they were fucking awake.

"Shay! Baby! It's not what it looks like! Fuck! I swear I didn’t do a damn thing!"

Hero 'bragging' to friends:

"I fucked the twins in my bed last night, and Shay caught us all this morning. Oh, and she broke one of their noses.

"Given my reputation as a player, I finally find a woman, and I screw it up by fucking the notorious double-mint twins.

Hero to self:

I turned my head, and my eyes landed on a naked blonde lying in bed. The sad part of it is I don't even remember going home with one girl, let alone two.

Delusional Heroine:

"You didn't sleep with them," she continues, stifling a laugh. My head snaps up, and my eyes lock with hers. "What do ya mean I didn't sleep with them?" "Well. Apparently, you couldn't sleep with them because you’re wifed up."

Hero's Drug Binge:

Trent is leaned over my bathroom counter, snorting white lines off the top of it.

"Baby, it's not what it looks like. Fuck! Please! Just calm down!" he pleads.

“It’s okay, kitten. I won’t fuck up anymore. I swear. I’ll never hurt you again.”

This behavior occurs commonly during his drugged haze throughout the book so it may or may not be a true reflection of his soul.

So after much adieu this coke addict gets an epiphany & decides to clean up his act & there is a marriage proposal.

Fact:

Addicts are advised against starting a relationship & this addict is days off the drugs yet he contemplates marriage & beyond.

Cocaine addiction is an on going struggle. The author fails miserably at giving any kind of epilogue that guarantees an everlasting love.

Addicts are ticking time bombs.

There is no mention of him going for blood screening in regards to any form of STD.The heroine fucks him with abandon with no regards to the welfare of her little daughter.Clearly her brains resided between her legs.

Gunner was an unnecessary addition to this twosome without benefits. This story would have worked better as threesome with Gunner giving a masculine support because the female character was in continuous sexual thrall to the male character despite knowing of his cocaine snorting.

All I know is that this book is akin to an Eminem Song:

Baby! It's not what it looks like!

Baby! It's not what it looks like!

Baby! It's not what it looks like!

Baby! It's not what it looks like!

But this is fiction. & I kind of liked it though I would have liked a 10 year look ahead into their lives as the ending was too quickly wrapped up though there is going to be a followup book with Gunner as the principal character.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Josie's 4.5 Star Review

I read and enjoyed the first book in the Unexpected Series, so naturally I jumped at the chance to read the second book in the series. Finding Serenity is by far my favorite in this series thus far. The story will sweep you off your feet and keep you wanting to read more about these characters. The story touches on addiction, lies and secrets and the damage it can cause even the most beautiful and strong of relationships. The story is told in alternating POV’s and we get to see just how much each lie and addiction affects the characters. Ms. Black really turned up the passion and emotion with Shay and Trent’s story. The sexual conflict between Trent and Shay was HAWT.

Trent is the ultimate bad boy and this man had me all over the place. I hated him and loved him at the same time. Trent’s character is deep and filled with so much inner conflict and demons that I for one could not help but feel for him. Trent never expected to fall in love with his employee Shay and her very cute daughter Abby but he really couldn’t stop himself from falling hard. But Trent has some really big issues. He’s an addict and his addiction brings out the worse in him. He has no idea what he’s doing and with whom he is doing it with.

Shay is someone most women will connect with. She is divorced from her alcoholic husband and is raising her daughter on her own. Her only goal in life is to make sure her daughter has the best life. Shay is forced to work two jobs just to make ends meet. During the day she works at Etched Tattoo shop and at night she is a dancer. Shay tries so hard to not make the same mistakes she’s made in the past, and tries to keep her distance from her man whore boss, Trent.

Unable to deny the sparks and connection they share, they give in to one another. The two will build a relationship that is toxic and dangerous. Their relationship is built lies, secrets, and an addiction. Trent’s drug addiction brings Shay right into the sight of his drug dealer, one that will take payment for Trent’s debt in the worse way.

Trent and Shay go through so much heartache and pain, that it broke my heart. This book deals with some really heavy issues but I loved how this author didn’t sugarcoat any of it. The author shows just shows just how ugly being a drug addict can get, and the damage that comes along with it. Trent will hit rock bottom but can he fix it before it is too late? I loved that we got to see the characters from the first book, and that we got introduced to the characters that will be in the next book in the series. I can’t wait to see where the author goes with that story.

Wow, I’m kind of at a loss for words! T.E. Black has done it once again to bring another roller coaster of emotions to your Kindle. If you thought Finding a Way was a roller coaster, just you wait until this.
Shay Kirby is a single mom just trying to find her happy ending like everyone else. She has been kicked around and put down many times through her life. Trent Wallace is your typical badboy manwhore. He’s sexy, tattooed, and owns a tattoo shop. Both Shay and Trent have secrets that neither want to reveal. They are immediately attracted to each other right off the bat, but try to distance themselves. When Trent starts to push to see Shay more, secrets start slipping through the cracks. The biggest ones staying hidden for as long as possible. Having a relationship start with secrets and lies, makes for a very rocky relationship for the 2.
This book could have gone so many ways and I’m very happy with the ending! I was getting very nervous about how this book would play out. I caught on to a couple of the secrets but some completely took me by surprise.
You will hate Trent to the ends of Earth, want to punch him at times, but then fall hardcore for him. He’s a very frustrating character, yet you can’t help but fall in love with him like Shay did. Especially the ending… My heart.. I was sooo close to happy tears at the end and usually it’s sad tears. I don’t normally get happy tears while reading, so I guess that should say something?
Shay was such a bad@$$ character, I loved her character from the beginning. She is extremely determined that Abby (her daughter) get the best out of life that she can provide. Seeing their relationship is one that I think all moms and daughters want.
I loved seeing the original 4 again (Callie/Mac & Sierra/Evan) and getting introduced to some new characters was just as amazing! I know Gunner’s book is going to be a roller coaster as well.

I love T.E. Black's writing, Callie and Mac's story was fabulous. However, as much as I am loving the story of Shay and Trent, at 56%, I can't get pass the constant use of "ya" by Trent. Does the man have no other proper english word in his speech or grammar. It is seriously annoying, and it infuriates me every time I read it.

Secondly, Abby (the daughter) has only met Trent 2 times, and then on the 3rd time, at her bday party. Or rather after the party, she decides to call him "Daddy." Like really!! What mother would even indulge that crap.

Because of these two points, I can't seem to get further into the novel. Rather than giving an unfair rating due to my own qualms, I prefer to not read further and review.

This book is just WOW. It had it all. The emotional rollercoaster I went on while reading it was intense. There were times where I was laughing and others where I was doing my best not to throw my kindle across the room because the characters brought out that deep emotion within me. I’ve said it time and time again that I adore any book that brings out those raw emotions that have me all across the board. This book is that and so much more. It’s truly astonishing that this is only the second novel from this very gifted writer. If I could give Finding Serenity more than five stars, I would without a second thought.

T.E. had me hooked with these characters when they were introduced in Finding A Way. What I absolutely loved as we see this world she has created in Boston grow is that she’s created characters that are relatable and battling demons that we all face at one time or another in our life. With the story of Trent and Shay, they’re each carrying their own secrets and their own demons. It was an incredible ride seeing each side of their story and why they clenched so tightly to the things that were literally destroying their future together. The reality is that life doesn’t always give us easy an easy way out, especially when you’re dealing with some serious issues like raising a child on your own or drug addiction.

I was thoroughly impressed with the way T.E. approached many of the sensitive subjects within these pages and just knocked it out of the park with her gripping way of words that had me desperate to get to the end to see how it all turned out. From the first page to the last, I was beyond enthralled with every single aspect of Trent and Shay. I loved seeing them at their best with each other and Abby, especially Trent. It was all the sweet things he did for Shay and Abby that really hooked me with him. A lot of the others things had me wanting wring his neck, repeatedly. I loved that Shay was a strong independent woman that was willing to do whatever it took to take care of her daughter – even when it left her with some ugly choices to do so.

Most of all, I enjoyed seeing these characters come to terms with their flaws. Secrets will always have a consequence and these two characters certainly had some big ones that ended up rocking their world in ways neither one of them could have foreseen. I don’t want to reveal any spoilers so I’m going to wrap this up by saying that this is a must read! You will not be disappointed. To the author, thank you for such a wonderful story and I’m eagerly awaiting your next installment!

OMG, this book was all kinds of phenomenal.

Trent and Shay were just the perfect couple. As much as Trent could be infuriating, he was charming, hot, sexy and all alpha.

This book really hooked me, I mean I was literally attached to my kindle and couldn't find the strength or time to put it down until I finished reading this magnificent book. It made me laugh, it made me cry and it made me scream. The emotions this book brought out in me were just pure raw and emotional. The things that Trent went through and the things he suffered through were heartbreaking.

Shay, a single mother who only thought and cared about her daughter fell hard for Trent even though she knew he was bad news. But when love strikes, you pretty much are screwed and in this case, Shay was screwed!

Trent had many flaws but even with his flaws, Shay fell hard for him and she felt in her heart that she could transform this f*cked up playboy into a different man. She knew he was a good man somewhere deep down, she just had to find a way to bring him out.

Question is, can Shay transform Trent into an honest man and focus solely on herself and her little girl Abby? This little girl was just so adorable, for her to find Trent a great man and call him dad was just heartbreaking even though she had her real dad, she just found herself click right away with Trent.

This is the first book I read from this author and I have to say that I absolutely adored this book. I'm a sucker for sad, romantic and suspenseful books and this had a little bit of all three.

Another great book to add to my top read for 2016!

This was Trent and Shays story. They start off having a love/hate relationship that blossoms into more. They both have their own secrets and issues they are dealing with. At times I wanted to shake them and yell some sense into them! The author covered some sensitive subjects very gracefully. But I don't want to give anything away so you will have to just read it for yourself.

I loved the fact that Trey owns a tattoo shop and they are both covered in tattoos. It's nice to see characters that are not so cookie cutter.

I am also glad we got to see some of the previous characters along with some new additions. I am still very Team Mac and Callie!! Loved those two. Over all this was a worthwhile read. The author did an amazing job as expected!

Amazing!!!! I know from the beginning that this book was a roller-coaster of emotions. Trent Wallace is a jerk, but I love him…. The heroine is a badass woman. There’s a love story but also a story about the struggling with addition, and loss. Because of that, the story is angst but is worth the read. Is well written, the plot was amazing, and the couple chemistry was powerful beyond expected. My heart is with this couple because they are complicated people that seems to fight for their love. I’m sure you will love this story so much like I do!!! I recommend it 100%.

I was given the opportunity to early read Finding Serenity, and I really enjoyed it. The story revolved around new characters but we got to see some old friends too and that made the difficult stuff a little bit easier. And I say difficult because theses characters are battle scarred. They have vices and secrets and there are far reaching ramifications when it all comes to a head. But it is beautiful and very much worth your time to jump into their world for a bit.

I never expected to face so much pain, agony, and to find out what it means to be able to believe in hope once again when you were surrounded by darkness. This is my first novel read by T.E. Black and I cannot lie when I say that I've been through an emotional rollercoaster: frustration, anger, sadness, happiness and relief. Finding Sadness is part of the Unexpected Love series, following Shay, a single mother, and Trent, a tattoo shop owner with a hidden past, as they try to overcome their personal demons that impact their relationship. This is one couple who's chemistry is both alluring and frustrating: as much as Trent could push Shay away from him, building walls up to protect himself from more pain, while Shay looks for someone who can be her rock. The way they keep secrets from each other is frustrating, all you feel like doig is yelling at the two to smarten up before they lose one of the most important things that means the most to each other. The alluring part is you simply couldn't look away as Trent and Shay discovered their attraction for one another and eventually their love. This was one journey that I truly enjoyed from start to finish: an author that knew exactly the journey she wanted her readers to experience. T.E. Black is one author that I'll be recommending with Finding Serenity, and subsequently, the Unexpected Love series.

To say that I was blown away does not fairly or fully state how in love I was with Finding Serenity, by T.E Black. I read it's predecessor in this series and while I truly enjoyed it, I was not prepared for the 5 star ride that this author took me on. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Trent in Mac's story but I had no clue to the amount of pain this man was living with on a daily basis. This book opens in a six month prior flashback to Trent's first incredibly hot encounter with our heroine Shay Kirby. While the two seem to have some major issues, the heat and want between them was undeniable. I found it impossible to not want to cheer these two on. That being said, they both are keeping secrets and have some major hurdles to overcome first.

Trent, oh sweet Trent Wallace, he spends so much of the time with his walls up and having very hot but very angry sex with Shay. When he starts taking his walls down, brick by brick, I crashed just as hard as Shay did for this wonderful and truly sensitive man. The thing of it is, he's really broken. He's a cocaine addict and he's truly buried alive in his addiction. This author deserves major props for the depiction of drug abuse and how bad it can get. When Trent was using, I could understand why he couldn't stop. I could almost feel the absolute euphoria he felt. The moments he was high, I understood. He's covering up some really painful things though, and he can't see that he needs help. Between his mom dying of cancer and always thinking he's not good enough for Shay and her little girl, Abby, he's not realizing how truly strung out he is. But when he's sober, it's a sight to behold. He's a loving and sweet boyfriend to Shay and the best most incredible second daddy to Abby.

That leads me to our heroine, Shay. She has had a brutal past with Abby's father, Bruce. As a result, she hides beneath layers of anger to protect both her heart and her daughter. She has secrets too, though. She doesn't make nearly enough money working at Trent's tattoo parlor so she has a second job as a go-go dancer. She knows Trent would freak out and she's still ashamed about it so she keeps quiet. It all starts to implode once Trent's drug dealer buys the club where she works. Secrets are everywhere and Trent is spiraling. To say that it's all a mess would be an understatement.

The bottom line with true, forever love is that you don't choose it- it chooses you. Both Trent and Shay realize what they have but they have a painful, uphill battle ahead of them. I cheered, I cried, and I grinned ear to ear quite a few times. This was a wonderful and beautifully written journey of two broken people who are fixing each other without even really noticing. Though they face the fights of both of their lives, they end up doing so head on. I am so freaking glad I got to read this book and take the ride with them. This author has buckets of talent and an incredible future ahead if these books are any indication.

“Finding Serenity” is the second book in the “Unexpected Love” series. T.E. Black is continuing the stories of the already known heroes from the first book. This time the story is about Trent, the tattoo artist and Shay, the receptionist in the tattoo shop. Out of the blue, they fall in love with each over, trying to deny what they are really feeling. The feelings though are too strong to be denied and eventually they come to accept that. They see each other every day and they act as if they hate each other, while they are madly in love with each other underneath.

Shay has a little daughter to care about and she is not making ends meet easily. She is working two jobs, a day and a night job, as her ex has fallen behind with the money support. The tattoo shop is the day job. No one can ever know about the night job. Trent is really good at what he does. However, when his mother is diagnosed with cancer, he is devastated. He needs something to make him numb and coke is really good at this. He just uses when he really needs to and he can quit whenever he wants. His best buddy Mac, cannot know. He had a really bad time recovering from addiction, plus he lost his fiance to that. So he could probably beat him big time.

As they both keep secrets from each other, they found themselves in some very difficult situations. Apart from the love story leading the way, this book is also sending some clear and strong messages that should not be avoided. Drugs is a big part of it. How the user believes they can control it and how fast and easily they get to a point where they cannot quit, as it has become part of their daily routine. Hitting the bottom is the next in line, after such an addiction. When you have hit ground and you cannot think clearly, because it is the drugs making all the thoughts on you, you may end up in a dark and lonely path, hanging on a cliff and really thinking of letting go.

T.E. Black has done a really good work on this one. Her writing is more mature than the first book in the series. This story contains some really good twists that makes it a page turner. The sensitive subjects are touched in a way that makes them part of the story, yet very enlightening and educational for the reader. The happy ending comes to the fact that the heroes make amends with themselves and the other, they recognize their faults and they are ready to make a fresh start based on honesty.

Trent Wallace just put the big “O” in HOT. Trent Wallace is bad news. He’s a tattoed manwhore we all hate to love, but do anyways. His dirty talking cocky mouth will leave you begging for more Trent.

This is the story of single mom, Shay. Divorced from her ex alcoholic husband, she’ll do anything to keep her daughter happy. From working for a cocky manwhore of a boss to go go dancing to makes ends meet, Shay does everything she can to right her past mistakes and do right by her daughter. Until she can no longer deny the sparks and sexual tension oozing between her and her bad boy boss Trent Wallace. . A relationship built on each other lies, secrets, and vices can these two not only fall in love but do what is right for Shay’s daughter Abby?

Black cranked up the heat with Shay and Trent’s story. The sexual tension was just off the chart between these two. You hated him, yet you loved him. But Trent isn’t all bad boy. Black does an amazing job at deepening Trent’s character as he falls in love with Shay and Abby. Although there are many secrets, lies, and addictions they must face, you can’t help but root for these two and their story.

Although I loved my bad boy Trent, there are a few things as a reviewer I wished were a little different. Finding Serenity takes place in Boston. As we all know Bostonians have severe accents, Black doesn’t hold that accent back at all with Trent’s character. At times, this was a bit of a distraction to me. I am not a huge fan of accents/slang when reading so it just wasn’t for me. The only other thing I would have recommended to Black would be to have Trent chase Shay a little more. The overall story made sense, however it seemed like it jumped or had missing parts of the building of their initial relationship that I would have enjoyed reading about. It’s almost as if they hate each other and are talking long term overnight. Then again, maybe I am just a sucker for some good sexual tension and angst in a story line!

All in all, Finding Serenity did not disappoint. Abby’s childhood outlook added an extra layer to this story that kept it lighthearted and fresh throughout. I enjoyed seeing the bad boy weakened by this little girl. I loved revisiting the characters from the first book in this series as well as being introduced to some new ones. I can’t wait to see what Black has in store for us with Gunner. I loved his character immediately and can only imagine what his story will bring.

3.5 Stars - Review Copy Provided by author

For me, the last quarter of this book is what made it worth reading. I enjoyed the rest of the story, but how it ended made some earlier frustration worth it.

We met both Trent and Shay in Finding A Way. Finding Serenity picks up not long after the end of Finding A Way and we see the characters from the first book appear here frequently, but reading Finding A Way is not necessary to appreciate this story.

Both character have issues that they are dealing with. For Shay, it's a dead-beat ex husband who choose booze over their little girl. This means she has to work two jobs to make ends meet. For Trent, it's grief over his mother's illness and his own drug abuse.

I had a hard time connecting to both Trent and Shay. With Trent, it was that I just couldn't understand how he would welcome oblivion over spending time with his mother and the "girls" he claims to love. He also knowingly and repeatedly sabotaged his relationship with Shay. With Shay, my issue was that as a mother, she had already had to deal with one addicted spouse, why would she knowingly introduce that into her house again?

When things were good between Trent and Shay, they were great and fun to watch. The bad times were frustrating and I kept wishing for Shay to stand up for herself and her daughter. When things bottomed out, I was thrilled with how Trent responded to the dramatic wake up call.

Okay - you've probably read that and are thinking "you said this is a book worth reading." It is - Finding Serenity is not a light-hearted fun read. It deals with serious issues and I think the fact that I struggled with connecting to the characters has to do with the fact that my own life experience is so far removed from what they are dealing with. Ms. Black does an excellent job of putting the reader into Shay and Trent's heads so you can see what they are thinking, even if you don't understand it. Trent appears to be the stereotypical little boy who wants attention and doesn't care how he gets it. Shay fights with him until she can't anymore. Then we get to watch their highs and lows until they get it right.

If you liked Finding A Way, I think you will enjoy Finding Serenity as well.

As I sit here and typing this review I am still not exactly sure what I want to say about Finding Serenity. I knew going in that it would be filled with angst, would be emotionally draining and would be, at times hard to read. I just didn’t realize how much this book would cause my heart to ache, my stomach to flip flop with anxiety, or how it would just make me really emotional at times. I laughed, I screamed at Trent more than once, I cussed him out, I cried, and then I would do it all over again. T.E. Black was able to make me so invested in this book that I felt like I was Shay and everything she felt I felt.

Trent will piss you off, break your heart and will make you love him despite being as much of an asshole that he is. He has issues, he deals with them the wrong ways and it’s not only effecting his personal life but now it’s becoming dangerous and not for the obvious reasons. He is an absolute asshole to Shay, but there is so much more there, that when you read about it you see the layers and walls he has up, coming down and you see the real Trent. The real Trent is what I wanted to see, the guy who does sweet things, the one who makes you love him despite all the bad.

Shay isn’t perfect either in the relationship, but what she is, is loyal to Trent. She loves him despite the bad and it takes a real strong woman and a lot of love to go through what Shay does with Trent and stick around. She is strong, sassy, in your face and I loved her. Even though at times I thought more than once that these two together were toxic, I am glad that they got past all the bad.

When I was first introduced to this author I was blown away at the level of Finding A Way, but for me, Finding Serenity was more powerful, more emotional, more heartbreaking and cements the praise I originally gave her in the review of her first book. I love these type of stories, I love the angst, the pain, the wondering if a relationship will last or fall apart, and seeing the beauty after the storm of what the characters go through. T.E. Black proved once again the level of her talent with Finding Serenity and I for one can’t wait for the next book to release.

The only problem with this book is finding a bit that you are willing to stop at, it is almost impossible to put down.
As superb as Shay and Trent were as a couple, for me it was Trent that had me captivated all the way…he had it all going on and he knew it, he was just the right side of alpha for me, he was the perfect pitch of maleness and I was swooning in the corner.
Shay wasn’t looking for a partner but when she fell for Trent she wasn’t playing around, after all it wasn’t just her that she was bringing to the party, she had a child that was dependant on her being strong enough to pick the right man and Trent was as far from the right man as you could have possible imagined.
Trent was bad news but who can argue when love gets it claws in, Shay was hooked and there was no letting go…she, no they had to find a way to make what they have work.
I was frustrated somewhat when Shay seemed to follow the well-trod path of thinking that she can change this so called bad guy. Really she needs to get out more, nobody was ever going to change him unless he wanted to, luckily for her Trent was at the point in his life that he was ready to get with the program and the fact that little Abby stole his heart almost as much as Shay did was a win/win situation.
The book is funny in places and sad in others but what threw me was the frustration that it foisted upon me at times.
My heart broke for Trent, I felt emotional broken by his story and I had expected to find Shay more engaging and relatable. I just wanted him to find his happy and for all the right reasons. I knew that with Shay and Abby he would be the man he was always destined to be but getting there was such a raw process.
A beautifully dramatic, yet ultimately romantic read. One that doesn’t just give the Shay her man but gives Trent his future and that brought a smile to my face.

The second in the series, T.E. Black continues to blow my mind with the stark poignancy of her writing prose. Finding Serenity deviated from the smooth-sailing, light-hearted, idealistic romance, but its effect still fir every bit I seek in a good story.

She’s a fucking atomic bomb waiting to go off and blow my mind, body, and my soul to pieces

The main characters were contrasting interests and blew every page up in flames. There was a tinge of roughness amidst the heat they shared but the connection is defined throughout the book. I loved the equal strength and geniuses her characters possessed. They weren’t made to be liked but their love was paved with a realness that aren’t seen in most books.

He makes me sick. He makes me hot. He makes me want to screw the hell out of him.

What I loved about this gem was the spontaneity and unpredictability of the story progress. The experience of reading this book gave me mixed emotions. There were times when I completely disagree with a decision or an action, certain scenes that made me retaliate. But at the same time, there was this constant presence of their love for each other. Yes, Shay and Trent’s story definitely has imperfections. But I have to really note that that was the jewel of this book.

If you’re searching for a sentimental, traditionally sweet romance, well this isn’t for you. Finding Serenity is raw, rough, poignant, and deep. Every bit of this gem clawed right into my heart.

I’m willing to fight for our love. I only hope he’s willing to surrender.

*I received a copy of this story from Enticing Journey in exchange for a fair and honest review.*

Whew!! This book was an absolute emotional roller coaster that had loops and the highest drops one can imagine. It was absolutely perfect, for Trent and Shay anyways.

This book is not an easy read and deals with incredibly sensitive topics such as drug abuse and physical abuse. It was hard to read in spots and gut wrenching in others. It felt very realistic. If you suffer from triggers for such topics, please keep this warning in mind.

Trent and Shay are far from perfect but their story was perfectly written for them. It was beautifully imperfect. It was full of scars and roses. It was real. There is no sugar coating anything in this story. These are two characters that will leave a lasting impression. Trent will break your heart but hopefully he can mend it by the time you're done with the story.

Let's talk details and descriptions. They aren't lacking in any part of the story. There were a few parts that made me cringe and a few parts that made me tear up. I don't think anyone could possibly want more in this department.

The bedroom scenes will steam up your glasses, kindle screen, Windows, anything you're around or reading on. They are hot!! Wowsa! Talk about making a girl blush.

So, would I read this book again? You betcha! So, that means I'm recommending you to go get the book and read it!

Wow. This series is just to die for! A definite must read that will leave readers wanting more after each turn of the page. I reviewed both books, back to back, for the most part, and was not disappointed in the story lines at all. Each novel focuses on a different couple, BUT in Finding Serenity we do get visits from characters that appeared in Finding a Way.

Trent is resident bad boy - tattooed, badass, doesn't give a crap what anyone thinks about him attitude. That is until Shay comes along. Shay who is sweet, shy, and hides her own secrets under wraps. Leaving her alcoholic ex-husband was perhaps the best thing for her and her daughter. After everything the only thing Shay wants is for her daughter to be happy. When she meets bad by Trent, Shay does her best to avoid him - he isn't what she needs, nor what she wants. Unfortunately, for her, the sexual tension that lingers in the air every time their paths crossed never faltered. The passion, and the ultimate overall angst between this couple was really well written throughout the entire novel.

These novels were my first reads by T.E. Black, and I have to say that I was really happy with this series. It was angsty enough that it kept my attention, it was passionate enough to keep it going for the reader, but it didn't teeter over the edge of being too much passion that it was like UGH. I was happy that her novels were two of my first five into my 2016 reading list, and I look forward to so much more from T.E. Black! A strong 4.5 Bars to Miss Black!

This book....OMG....

TE Black broke my heart and mended the pieces repeatedly throughout this book. I absolutely LOVED it!

Trent Wallace is a bad boy. He's the owner of the tattoo shop Etched and no stranger to the stereotypical behavior of the tattooed bad boy. He has secrets that threaten to ruin not only him but his budding relationship with the new receptionist, Shay Kirby. He knows he needs to change his ways but knowing and doing are two very different things. What happens when life gets harder before it gets better? Can Trent defeat his demons or will he succumb to a life without a family or love in exchange for the numbness he thinks he craves?

Shay Kirby is the perfect heroine! She is a single mom that will do anything she needs to in order to protect her daughter. She wants what every girl wants - the fairy tale, Prince Charming, happily ever after. She's been knocked down and kicked around but now is her time to shine. Like Trent, Shay has secrets of her own. Secrets she will do anything to keep from the man she is falling in love with.

What happens to a relationship that was built on secrets and lies from the start? Can the lies be forgiven and future made? Will the deceit be too much to handle?

Shay, Trent, and Abby are amazing! Abby adds that child like freshness to even the most serious situations. I also loved seeing Callie and Mac again!

Can't wait for Gunner's book!!

This book seriously pissed me off. I knew from reading book one that Trent's story and whoever he fell for wouldn't be pretty and I was right. Trent may be a killer tattoo artist but he is a huge jerk in other parks of his life. He is using drugs heavily, slept with a bunch of women and hurt people that were close to him. He also got with a very bad man. Shay, I had a lot of respect for. She is working her tail off and trying to support her daughter on her own. She maybe keeping a secret but she has the best at heart. Once she gets with Trent, that kinda goes out the window. She thinks she is doing it for the right reasons but I have my doubts. I was team Gunnar the whole book. Every concern he was voicing I was thinking as I was reading it. He was her voice of reason but she ignored him and did the opposite. Trent did have some sweet moments especially with his mom and her daughter but he was a major jerk through most of this book. He hurt Shay time and time again but she still stood by him.. I would have moved on but I guess if your heart wants something bad enough then you stick close. This book is not a typical happy loving book like the first one was. This book has some ugly parts especially with the drugs and sex. I really enjoyed this book even if I hated Trent for most of the book. You don't have to read the first one to read this one but if you want to know the characters better than I would suggest reading the first one.

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.”

~Serenity Prayer

This is Trent and Shay’s story. We meet them in Finding A Way. This isn’t an easy story to read. There are a few sensitive topics that are dealt with within the pages of this story.

Trent is a character that made it hard to love him. He screwed up so much and was unwilling to really take on his demons until a life altering event happens. This made Trent a very real character. It takes someone bottoming out to really want to change and that is what happened to Trent. There were times throughout the book that I wasn’t sure if he would ever get his head out of his ass. Like I said, this made his character very real. He is flawed but still in the end you had to like him.

Shay is the anti Trent to me. She is light where he is dark in the story. She is struggling with her own demons but refuses to let them carry her down. She has her own reasons for this that you will find out. She is a strong character.

The author’s writing has matured in this book and she tackled the tough subjects well. Her stories are filled with real characters and real issues. That is what makes her books ones to want to read.
We get to see Mac, Callie and the rest of the group throughout the story. I can’t wait for Gunner and Ryleigh’s stories to come.

Wow! My heads all jumbled up as I just finished reading Trent & Shay's story. What a roller coaster of a ride but I loved every second of it!!

I wasn't sure what to expect of Trent as when we were originally introduced to him he was a womanizing flirt. As his story unfolds we discover the true man under the façade he shows everyone and the demons he fights daily.

Shay is one kickass, strong, single mom who does everything and anything in her power to raise her beautiful daughter, Abby.

Abby is the perfect little adorable 6 year old. She managed to melt Trent's walls from around his heart in just their first meeting. It was adorable watching the interactions and love blooming with Trent and Abby.

Trent and Shay are made for each other. Even though their relationship may have started without full disclosure and in turn the secrets they've each kept hidden from the other almost destroyed them each individually, they didn't! They were both able to shoulder the blame and move forward together.

I must say that I loved this book so much more than the first in this series. The characters were so much deeper, the storyline better told. Tiffany's writing has matured so much in this book and it's very obvious. The only thing I would have liked to see is what happened with Shay's father. He was just a quick blip on the radar.

I can't wait for the next in this series!!

I received a copy for an honest review.

I read the first in the series and was blown away so I jumped at the chance to continue to read T.E. Black's work.
Meeting Shay and Trent was difficult to stomach the cheating but there was a great depiction of an addict.
Shay does what she must do in order to care for herself and her daughter. Does that mean suffering the torment dealt out by Trent? He's supposed to love her and yet at every chance he destroys her.

His favorite line
"Baby, it's not what it looks like."
That has become his crutch and finds excuses to justify his cheating. Yet, what is it that keeps Shay interested? He does have charm and good looks yet I found myself asking if that is even enough for a person to keep coming back.

The love/hate relationship these two share is fiction, of course, but in the mix of the story many can relate to having that desire to be with the other when they feel protected and loved.
I loved how the emotions carried throughout the story even in the times of the darkest deception destroying them both.
Sensitive issues are portrayed in the story and T.E. Black gives it justice, profoundly telling a story with great character development.

Cocky, Egotistical and hotter than all hell Trent always gets what he wants. In this case he gets what he wants and so much more that he needed.
Shay, a single mother raising her daughter just wants to be loved, not just a hook up.
Okay let the sparks fly! This book deals with a lot of emotional heart ache and dangerous situations.
Not really looking to get mixed up in something that is so out of her realm of possibility that she goes out on a limb for the man that she loves.
How many times have we found ourselves in the same situation(not as extreme)?
I connected with Shay because of that. We forgive those that we love.
Trent never expecting to fall for just one woman is not only taken for a loop but his scars are not accepting his new reality in a healthy way. But he tries and tries.
This book as I said before touches on some serious and very painful scenarios making it that much more intense to read. I cried for both of them and I loved it!
Sexy, dirty and oh so powerful this is a book that begs to be read...Tatts and all!
