Dear you,
I wish I could tell you all about this book; the story of Micah and his boss...ummm...*goes back and reads the blurb*...Harrison! His boss, Harrison.
The End Game is an utterly forgettable story, though, so I can't tell you all about this book because even though I just read it I can barely remember it. Here's what I do remember.
This book is kind of broken into two parts. First is Micah as a young 15 year old (I think, around that age) who falls in love with new boy in town Peter. However when he catches Peter in bed with a girl and outs him, things go horribly wrong, as Peter is not just a jerk, Ten or so year later, Micah still has issues and mostly works at home in the publishing industry, although his hot boss has made no bones that he's interested in Micah, eventually, Micah gives in and agrees to try dating and it's going well until a blast from the past comes back to haunt him. I enjoyed the story and was surprised by the result of his first relationship, I didn't see that coming. I really liked Micah's best female friend, she didn't fall into that annoying female friend stereotype. I thought maybe the past catching up seemed a bit extreme and melodramatic, but on the whole I enjoyed the story and really liked Micah.
Lisa Marie Davis' "The End Game" has quite a compelling story: a fifteen year old,Micah, meets someone, and he thinks this is the boy of his dreams, but things quickly get very dark. Cut to fifteen years later, and we can see how his traumatic past has affected him and how he has put his guards up against finding love. I was instantly hooked, as the story line felt unique. He opens his heart to his boss, Harrison Harper, who has been pining for him, and just as he starts to accept love again in his life, his past comes back to haunt him. I wish the story was more formed, it had the potential of being so much more. As such, we get a run-of-the-mill romance story, with pulp elements. (The sex scenes are almost hilarious) This would be good just to pass time, but then I never expected anything else from it.
I loved how the author gave so much of Micah's past in that long Prologue. It really helped understand what happened and worked much better than a flashback later on in the story could have. I much prefer books this way. My only complaint on this one was that it seemed that Micah went into his relationship with Harris pretty quickly. I know that they wanted each other, but it seemed that they never really talked much before. But overall it was a great story and the MC's fit really well together.
This was too nice, with the too perfect boyfriend. The story was okay, nothing thrilling or gripping. Harris and Micah could have been a much more interesting couple, the romance I'm not sure what it was that didn't work. Not great but not a total loss.
The three stars here is for the idea of the book. It could have been a heart wrenching story but sadly I felt nothing. Nada. The guys were likable and there was some sex but still, something was missing.
Micah fell inlove when he was a teenager and it turned out to be a nightmare, Years later Harrison comes along and wants a chance with him but micahs past catches up with, will that stop micah from the happiness he deserves.
