3 sweet small town romance stars. I wanted a little bit more from this novel in all ways which is why it only gets three stars from me. It was a little too sweet and a bit boring. I wanted a bit more fight, a bit more push and pull and definitely more undercurrent of desire. I suppose I'm picking apart the book but it's my review and so it will all stay.
Beth is sweet and nurturing. She knows that if she goes to wild in the small town she'll be crucified. She didn't expect her Tequila hazed mess up to be her daughter's new swimming coach. She tries to keep things professional between them but that quickly deteriorates when he doesn't agree to those terms. How can she ignore him when he's charming, good looking and just so desirable?
Jason is in Turtle Pine to have some time off and to help his sister. He's an Olympic swimmer, swimming has always been his life while everything else has taken the back seat. He doesn't expect to consider placing roots down in the small town or the feelings he begins to have for Beth.

One thing I love about Fords books is her writing. She writes with such humor and emotion that just captures me. This is the second book in her Turtle Pine series and if it's possible I loved this book more then the first.
Beth is a single mother of two since her husband left her and claimed he wasn't a family man. She has no desire to date but after a night of Tequila shots she wakes up in a hotel room naked. When the mysterious stranger emerges from the shower she runs out the door without her shoes and blank spots in her memory from the night before.
Jason is a former Olympic swimmer who has been coaching. After his last job went a little south from false allegations he heads to Turtle Pine to stay with his sister and start his new job. What he didn't expect was to see the woman who ran from his hotel room sitting in the stands while he teaches her daughter how to swim.
I really enjoyed this book and the characters. I really liked Beth. She got dealt a shit hand in her marriage and isn't really ready to trust anyone with herself or kids. But I really loved how she tried to stay away from Jason but actually couldn't.
Jason was so good with taking things slow and trying to earn her kids trusts. Although he is younger then Beth he acts older and had this ease about him. I loved how he just took to her kids and really wanted to try. If something went wrong he wanted to know why. He was just an all around great guy. Ford really did an amazing job writing these two characters.
I had so many favorite parts in this book but my one that really stuck out is when Beth's daughter dresses Jason up as fairy. I was actually giggling, it was that cute.
I really liked that Ford wrote Jason as a swimmer. I don't believe there are a lot of romance heroes with a description and job like his which made this book even more special.
The ending was cute and fun. Although the forever is implied the words aren't spoken. I like they are taking it day by day. I hope in the upcoming books we will see these characters again just to catch up with them to see how there HEA is going.
This is one series I can't get enough of and I am really looking forward to reading more of this series in the future. If you love small town romances then I highly suggest you check out this series and other series by Keri Ford if you haven't yet.

This is the second in a series, and although I haven't read the first one yet, I think I will probably rectify that soon, as this was a sweet, fun read.
For me this book works, because it takes a woman wronged, and gives her a second chance at love, even if she really isn't sure that she dare. The persistence of the male lead gives heart to anyone with a romantic bone in their body and the fact that he is great with her young children ... well, the whole town is rooting for this to work out. I loved the small town element, and am sure that once I read book 1, even more of it will make me smile - but it was delightful anyway. Both characters are give us enough detail that we can see just how conflicted they both are about what is happening - even if for totally different reasons. Both had suffered recently enough to still be raw about the events that hurt them, yet so taken with each other that they couldn't quite stop the inevitable. Some lovely humour, great family times and honest hot passion combine to make a very readable story.

I have to say, the ending totally ruined this book for me! It was a very abrupt ending, and having a Happily Ever After implied, was not a good way to end it for me! It was hard to like Beth and Jason as a couple, because Beth was too closed off and Jason was too pushy. It felt manufactured, rather than a naturally occurring romance. The age difference was a bit hard to swallow as well. While I didn't care for the book overall, I did enjoy the author's writing style, so won't be abandoning her just yet!

I liked the story and Jason was super cute. Beth got on my nerves so badly. I totally get that she was trying to protect her kids, but...
I needed more towards the end, felt like it lacked a proper ending.

This book is high on the feel-good factor and left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. It’s just so cute and enjoyable and the kids are sweet and Jason is lovely and even Beth seems kinda nice, if a touch defensive. It made me smile a lot throughout and the ending – while a bit abrupt – overflowed with cuteness.
Yet, somehow, all this adorableness never got too much. Possibly because Beth has serious abandonment issues thanks to her bastard of an ex-husband, and she’s willing to push away any and all good opportunities to save her kids ever getting hurt again. Is this a little unfair on Jason at times? Certainly. Did I blame her? Not one bit.
Speaking of Jason, he’s surprisingly lovely given the scandalous cloud he arrives under and his initial sneering at what he’d been reduced to (both of which sort of vanish from the story never to be mentioned again). Yet the way he interacts with not just Beth but her kids as well, showed a real maturity. He listens when Beth raises concerns and he tries so hard to do what she thinks is best. He’s also gorgeous and they have great chemistry, but it’s the way he is with the kids that won me over. Especially Katie. That troubled little girl was amazing and I loved the way she stole Jason’s heart.
However, I was a little confused about Jason’s Olympic career. I know swimmers don’t have a particularly long stint in the limelight, but twenty-five seemed a bit young to me for it to have all been over. And it sounded like he’d been a coach for a while too, meaning that he was even younger when he stopped. I wasn’t even sure what stroke he specialised in or even what distance. Or what medals he won at the Olympics. Or if he had any world titles along the way. Or, well, any details about his career at all, to be honest. All we get is that he was once a successful swimmer, he was at the Olympics and he knows how to swim. So, if you’re interested in his sporting life, you might be a touch disappointed.
Then again, the rest of the book definitely makes up for it. There was just so much here that I liked, from the way Jason reunited with his sister and made friends (away from swimming for the first time in his life), to how Beth’s family dealt with everything, even the way that the age gap between Beth and Jason didn’t really matter – even if everyone else tried to imply it would.
If you’re looking for a contemporary read that will make you smile and even give your heart a squeeze every now and then, this book is worth a try. Especially if you appreciate cute kids with a few emotional issues, a surprisingly mature sporting hero and a heroine who isn’t afraid to put her kids first. The ending did sneak up on me unexpectedly, but I still smiled when I put it down. All in all, it’s adorable.

Recently, I have come across more and more romances where one or both of the main characters are single parents. It does take some getting used to. My personal opinion is that stories like Tequila and Tingles are more true to life. Children add a different dynamic. With a child life becomes more about taking care of their needs as well as the needs of the parent.
Tequila and Tingles is about finding the balance between parenthood and love. Keri Ford takes a look at love through the eyes of a cynical single mom. Beth is a woman determined to protect her children, keep her head held high and not let anyone too close. I received an ARC of Tequila and Tingles in exchange for an honest review. With this novel Ms. Ford had me choked up with laughter and presented a sympathetic look at the turmoil faced by a person burned by love.
