Thirty five years ago, we arrived in the village. A white family moving into a native community. Fresh from graduate school, armed with church credentials, we were ready to teach the villagers. We did not know how much the village would teach us. We did not realize we would carry village lessons into the rest of our lives. We were young, enthusiastic, naïve, and called. Now, approaching retirement, it is time to assess how much the village has impacted our lives.
