Darden engages a pet from the pleasure houses of Nakam more out of boredom than anything else. When the young man is presented to him, he knows something isn’t right. Someone is trying to trick him, and he’s going to find out why and make them pay. But even though Laxus has no training whatsoever, something about him intrigues Darden, most especially his willingness to pretend to be a pleasure slave for a stranger.
Laxus loves sex, and he loves money even more, so he agreed to pose as a pet for the high fee he was offered. But his target immediately sees through his lies, and Darden insists on giving Laxus “proper training” as they keep up the charade to trap Darden’s enemies. Laxus has little choice but to submit to everything Darden has in store for him.
A man hires a pet, which is somewhere between a trained concubine and a slave, for a 2 week period. But the boy he gets is clearly not trained and not used to pleasing men, though it clearly isn’t something he’s reticent to explore.
The man easily wrenches the truth out of his new pet. The boy was there to spy on him on behalf of his ex-wife. But instead of punishing his pet, who is clearly enjoying himself, the man seeks to train him and use him as cover to uncover the extent of the plot against him.
And if the man and his pet grow fond of each other along the way... and maybe want more than two weeks ....
Note: the only SF ish part is this takes place on a different planet and there is talk of spaceships capable of interstellar travel.
Nice story line. Likable MCs. Wasn't totally convinced of Laxus's sexual attraction nor submission to Darden. Rushed ending and wrap up of their relationship. The D/s and sex were low steam. 1990's bodice ripper cover.
This was a very interesting read, and enjoyable read, I really enjoyed it. It was very romantic, going from being a hired pleasure pet, to lovers. Very, very interesting.
Laxus comes under false pretences as a hired pet to Darden. Darden spots it right away and gets him to tell the truth and who is behind it. The plot is useless and amuses Darden. Darden decides to keep Laxus near and train to be a pet which turns to love for both.
This was an interesting and enjoyable sci-fi romance. A warning: M/M romance. Fascinating characters with a twisty storyline that had me eagerly turning the pages.
