Zane and Lili were finally finding their very own happily ever after when tragedy struck. What happened the day of the fire? Where are Lili and Conner? How can Zane and their family deal with this deep of a loss?
What happens when your world is turned upside down and guilt eats at you during every waking moment?
What do you do when all hope fades and leaves you Silently Broken?
Maegan Abel was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she still lives today. She has been an avid reader from a very young age and the top goal on her list of things to accomplish was to write and publish a book. During the summer of 2013, while working backstage on The Lion King, she read eleven books in four weeks. After reading her first New Adult book and being introduced to the genre, she felt she could totally relate to it. The idea for Perfectly Broken and the character of Lili was born backstage during that time.
Words cannot describe how excited I am for this book ! I don't understand why this series is not popular (shakes head) I'm glad I've discovered this series! I really hope this family get their happily ever after (fingers cross)
For me, this was that one book I was reading while waiting on my Starbucks drink in the drive through line, slowly creeping forward with each honk of the horn…
You know, that one book that consumes your lunch breaks, and your normally healthy sleep schedule and maybe some of your mommy duties? Just one more chapter, page, or even paragraph.
This is the one.
I have absolutely adored Lili and Zane’s perfectly almost unforgivably broken, but absolutely wonderful story. This series took me on something like an emotional roller coaster ride, except, times that really scary, crazy roller coaster ride by like 10. Zane and Lili, and Conner’s story is completely unpredictable.
This book is unlike anything I’ve read, my emotions never stopped going from one to the next. If I wasn’t yelling at Zane or Lili, I was cursing Maegan for making me feel all of their hardships and questioning how they were going to maintain a loving relationship all while actually solving their problems.. and then trying to deal with the very real and serious amount of anxiety that came with being so emotionally attached to each and every one of these characters.
The writing, is wow, absolutely fantastic, I have never connected with so many characters, on so many different levels, I absolutely loved this book and every book in this series!
4.5 stars. WOW! This series is an emotional rollercoaster! My heart is still torn from all the emotions this book has dragged me through.
So in the last 2 books, Lili and Zane are finally together but having a hard time getting past all their troubles. My heart was breaking for Lili for the most part. To be honest, Zane had really pissed me off in the last 2 books, but by the end of Silently Broken, I made peace with my anger and fell in love with him again!
The depths of Lili and Zane's love knows no bounds. I hope in the future, we get to read more about them in future books. My heart is still heavy for Connor, and I truly hope he gets a happy ending. That poor little guy is just a shell of the person he used to be and I want him back!
I can't wait for the next book in the series, and I hope they are just as emotional and breathtaking as the 1st 3 books. I highly recommend them!

Oh good gracious! This story nearly killed me. Talk about going out with a huge BANG! The Broken series nearly broke me. I read this series in record time and when it came to the end, I was reading so fast, anxious to know how things were going to unfold. Maegan Abel does not disappoint. There is drama by the truck loads, anguish, heartache, and so much love that it is heartbreaking. It has been a while since I have read a story that is this emotional and dramatic. I forgot how much it can drain you , especially when the series is read in such quick succession. Now please note, I am going to review this book and it will inevitably giveaway somethings that happen in the previous books. You cannot read this story without the others. It will not make much sense and the buildup is one of the things that makes this story so great.
This story starts out with a HUGE bang. At the end of book 2, Conner and Lili are missing and all hell has broken loose. Watching the events that unfold in this story are absolutely gut-wrenching. There are some pretty terrible things that happen. Maegan does a fantastic job of sharing the heartache and utter devastation so that you feel the emotion and hurt without making it all too graphic to swallow. With that being said, there are some harsh realities that you realize are inevitable but it does not make it any easier to read.
This book happens in dual POVs. In part one, we see Zane’s POV as he struggles to keep it together to find his son and Lili. He becomes a shell of the man he is and his erratic emotions and behavior is felt in this portion of the story. You can feel his frantic struggle to make sense of what is happening and his attempt to hold onto any sliver of hope he can grasp. In part two, we see Lili’s POV, which overlaps time wise with Zane’s part. What Lili endures is terrible. I don’t know if there is language truly capable to describing what you feel when you read what she goes through. There is anger, despair, frustration, and such rage. The fact that she can even wake up each day is a miracle. Her hope in Zane and Conner is heartbreaking and her despair leaks into your heart as you read her portion of the story.
Maegan does a fantastic job of making you FEEL everything. There is so much happening and the drama and angst are all consuming. The ups and downs of the emotion you walk through with Zane, Conner, and Lili is exhausting. You have no idea if you should hope for something good or just pray that they are put out of their misery. There are so many times that I wondered what the end would bring. Would there be peace and hope? Would love prevail or would it all be destroyed by the events in this book?
Needless to say, prepare yourself. Silently Broken has some of humanity’s ugliness that is hard to digest. There is so much that happens in this story that you will be rocked by what happens. Hope is a rare commodity but you find yourself fighting with Zane and Lily to grasp at it and hold it close. But the few moments when hope shines through the gloom, you cannot help but smile through the tears, hoping that peace and justification follows in its wake. This book is not to be taken lightly but fans of the Broken Series will find yet another story to obsess over, applauding Maegan’s skill while cursing her name for the heartache.
Received a copy of the title through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was the highly anticipated (by me) book three to the story of Lili and Zane. When we left off, Zane and Lili had had a fight and he left -- before which, Lili spoke out "My heart", to which he eventually cooled down enough to respond in kind with "Mine too" -- they're "thing" that I love so very much. Later, though, Zane received a garbled 'help' text and rushed home to find it burned to the ground.
In SILENTLY BROKEN, Zane is dealing with finding both his son and Lili, his Pixie girl who he's been friends with for a few years, but has been deeply in love with for the last year. Maegan does an awesome job with all of the emotions in this story -- Zane's grief and fears when Conner and Lili are missing. Then dealing with Conner's feelings. When Lili is back in his arms, there's the huge range of emotions that go with that, too -- the excitement at her being back, the realization that things have changed, the always present fears that Conner is having a hard time, still.
Just when you think you can't possibly break anymore, another piece fractures off. It takes time and space for the healing to truly begin. At times, the story feels long, but with the ground it covers? Maegan did great. It probably could have even been split into two books -- Maegan wrote it in four parts. The first is in Zane's voice, second goes back to the beginning and is in Lili's voice, and the last two parts are back and forth between the two as the healing starts, falters, and truly completes.
Throughout this series, I've loved Maegan's ability to write great internal dialogue and external dialogue. I love the way Lili and Zane talk with one another; I love how much Lili loves Zane's son, something that comes across ten-fold in her telling of the story. I love the relationship Zane has with his siblings -- both Paige and Tish. When things get heated with Tish, as a reader you understand Zane's fears and anger -- and understand that truly, it's only with blood that you can truly let go the way Zane does with Tish. Maegan's way of writing Zane with Conner always makes my heart happy. And Conner? For a five year old, that boy knows what's what and his protecting Lili emulates his father so much.
"Hey, no, I'm not mad..."
For whatever reason, when I read that line, my adoration for Zane with his son truly melted me. Maybe it's because you understand Zane's heart is breaking, but maybe it's the simplicity of the "Hey, no," a simple phrase that is said so often in 'real life' that coming across on the pages of the book ground the book as believable...
In my previous reviews, I've stated my dislike for Lizzie, and I have to say that that sentiment did not change in SILENTLY BROKEN. But Zane and Lili? I've always enjoyed them. They fought for their love and they have many rocky paths to walk down, but when they finally get it right? There's is a love for the books and will no doubt in my mind last a long time. The family unit Zane and Lili makes is absolutely lovely, and the epilogue makes me happy (I have very high hopes for Conner; the boy breaks my heart again and again) but we're definitely left with questions. I'm curious what Maegan's next plans are...
I strongly recommend this book. Its just amazing. This book does make you s little teary eyed. It deals with many different issues. You also get more of Zane, and Lili.
What more can I say , Maegan is angsty as $%&* !! Knowing this was Zane and Lili's last book , knowing what happened at the end of book 2 and knowing how Maegan writes - I was scared as heck to read this. I first read it as a beta before edits and loved the crap out of it. I was tortured , heartbroken and ruined. Physically sick to my stomach with some of the things Lili , Connor and Zane go through. So here I am now re-reading the actual final copy, purchased ebook, for the tour and I am kicking myself because I am tortured all over again ! The amount of emotion and detail to that emotion that Maegan has written on these pages will leave a lasting impression with anyone who has read this series. I loved the epilogue , Connor is such a tortured little soul. That poor boy had lived through too much heartache in his little life, but being in his head for a bit was soothing. To know how much love he does have in his heart and that he knows how much everyone loves him made me feel so much better about leaving him. Then the little tid bit of a tease with a certain someone and Monica , wow !! And my favorite was the sneak peek of Tony. I have grown to love Tony way beyond anything I expected. It started in Broken Holidays and then after his part in this story I just went crazy for him. I don't know how long I can wait for his book...HINT HINT
As always Maegan approaches the story in a clearly defined way so you have no question as to whose head we are in and what place in time we are at. We start out with Zane, right where we left off in UB. The fire , the disappearance and the devastation rocking their world. Tish , Kas and Paige have their work cut out for them when it comes to keeping Zane - sane !! He is stubborn and determined to find his heart regardless of who or what is in his way. Sadly for Zane he causes himself more grief than peace and even when Connor comes home the trouble keeps building. It is heartbreaking to see how affected Connor is and on top of his trauma he is faced with so much more than one little boy should have to handle. Tension runs high while Tish keeps things from Zane and Lili's family gets involved causing more roadblocks. It is a rollercoaster for sure and the pieces that start fitting together will blow your mind. When we finally get to Lili be prepared, if you thought life was tough for Zane and the gang you ain't seen nothing yet !! Maegan reached deep and dark for this part of the story and sadly for Lili it wasn't easy to read. Unlikely forces join to save our girl and once again Maegan will be shocking the crap out of you when the pieces click together. Will things ever get back to normal for Zane and Lili ? Will they survive these horrific events or will they suffer more once they are together again ? Being their last book you want them to have their HEA , they do deserve it BUT were they really meant to be and even if they find their HEA will their struggles be over ? Both Zane and Lili are a HOT MESS. The choices they make are questionable and the angst is thick !! If you are not feeling this story you must not have feelings !!
I swear this series could be a movie or better yet a TV show. The amount of suspense and danger would make for those great weekly episodes that leave you hanging !! I am emotionally exhausted but still sad to know this was the end of Zane and Lili's story. Maybe we will see them again ?? If not I know anything else Maegan writes will be well worth the time.
To read the entire review please visit: http://bit.ly/1V0WmiZ "Silently Broken" is a gripping story of Frustration, Survival and Love. A book about a desperate and frustrated man's search for his kidnapped girlfriend and son and a woman's harrowing and heartbreaking efforts to not only keep herself sane and alive but also those she cares about safe as well. All of this woven with a tenuous thread of enduring and consummate Love. The most difficult thing for me about reading Maegan Abel's novel was the fact that I hadn't read the previous two installments, this truly isn't a stand-alone book but there are enough references to the past events to give me an inkling of an idea of the trials this couple endured before this trauma began. I had a hard time keeping the characters straight but again it was my fault for being so greedy to get my hands on one of the Broken series books that I skipped the first parts of the overall saga. There are so many emotions surrounding the events which occurred stateside and in Mexico that Zane and Lili come to a point where they no longer believe the relationship is going to work. Because there is so much distrust, lies and miscommunications swirling around them. Some not of their own making. But more life threatening events occur which trump the distrust and feelings of unworthiness. This novel is filled with so many emotions and so much action that even though I wasn't as invested as I might have been if I had read all of the books in the series I was brought to tears in a few instances. The characters grew and completely drew me in and got me invested in them and their fates. And since I came in at the Third Act of the Broken series I did find the cast of characters rather overwhelming, but, I figure, that's on me. The only thing that troubled about "Silently Broken" was the epilogue's "second part", it left me extremely confused and not in a good way - in a very What The Hell? kind of way. Other than those two minor issues I found "Silently Broken" to be an exceptional romantic thriller and suspense novel. If you want a thrill ride of a tale, that throws you this way and that, putting your emotions on a roller-coaster, with an enduring story of Love then you need to read the Broken series.

There are some stories that sit with you long, long after you finish them. This series is that and so much more for me. I didn't just read their words, I lived their lives. I felt them everywhere I went. I saw them in my dreams. And that's because Maegan Abel brought nothing less than her absolute A game with this last installment. Silently Broken is a phenomenally written, gut-wrenching conclusion to the Broken Series that is an absolute must-read for 2015.
I knew there was going to be pain in this book, especially after the cliffhanger from book 2, but I never expected the kind of emotions I would experience. Part 2... I'm just saying... prepare yourself. You'll need tissues. And also a hand to hold. I'm not usually the suspense/dark type of reader, so this was really hard for me. I had to put the book down several times and walk away. My husband kept asking if I was okay as I read because I'd be sobbing or shaking my head or gripping my phone (Kindle app) and he could just tell I was getting totally mind-effed. Abel takes you on an incredibly emotional and heartbreaking ride. It's both beautiful and tragic in the best way.
My love for Zane only grew with this installment of the series. I hated how everyone was hiding everything from him and it still pisses me off to be honest, but I get it. Zane is not rational when it comes to Lily. Without spoiling, if he would have known what everyone else knew, he likely would have gotten himself killed along with everyone else in his path. I get it... but I still don't like it. wink emoticon
Lily and Nine (who you will get to know more than you probably want to) will wreck you in this book. Prepare for it, but don't worry - you'll get slowly, ACHINGLY SLOWLY stitched back together. You may never be whole again, the same as Lily and Zane, but you may just find that inner peace you've been craving since you read the first word of this series.
Maegan Abel is one of a kind in her craft. In fact, I don't even know how to categorize her. Is she romance? Thriller? Suspense? Humor? Dark? Whatever she is, she's elite. I am honored to read her words every time I have the opportunity.
If you read one series this year, make it the Broken Series. Trust me and thank me later.
Discovering this author was like finding a priceless treasure chest in the ocean. After finishing Silently Broken, I'm sitting in complete AWE of Maegan Abel, and can't even force myself to pick up another book. It feels like it took forever for this book to come out, but OMG totally worth the wait!
Liliosa Cortez is a runner. She's had to be to survive what life has thrown at her, but the time for running is past. She has to stand and fight to save the people she loves. Zane Tishler has never had the all american picture of happiness. Every time he's happy, something or someone destroys it. He and Lili have finally found their happily ever after, but life has one last brutal hit. At the end of Unforgivably Broken, they had gotten into a fight and Zane had left the house to cool off. He gets a text begging for help, so he races home to find their house on fire, and his family gone. Silently Broken picks up with Zane devastated. There are no clues as to who took Lili and his son, nor a clear cut reason behind it. Can Zane keep it together long enough to find his family before it's too late?
I want to start out by saying, nothing I write in this review, could ever accurately describe how EPIC this book is. And the 5 stars barely scratches the surface. Maegan Abel's writing style was smooth and the story flowed perfectly, plus the dual POVs made it even more powerful. She does a BRILLIANT job making me experience firsthand the powerful emotions to wreck me. My heart has been ripped out, set on fire, and stomped on while putting the fire out. I physically feel beat up from the emotional roller coaster ride. Every time I thought I had no more heart to break, she took it up a notch. She has done a fantastic job developing the characters through the whole series, that I feel like they are members of my family. And the sensitive subject matter was extremely well done and very realistic. I could honestly go on and on, but I hope you experience the story/series for yourself instead. I will never be able to HIGHLY RECOMMEND Silently Broken and Maegan Abel enough!
While I was anxiously awaiting this installment of Zane and Lili’s story, I had a hard time picking it up because I was also dreading the emotional roller coaster I knew Maegan Abel was going to take me on. Once I picked it up, I could not put this gripping 5 star book down, and I read the enter thing in just over a day. For those who have been following this series, you know these books tend to be on the dark side, and this was the darkest. There are some scenes involving physical and sexual abuse that are extremely disturbing, but I felt that they were written appropriately considering the subject matter.
The first part of this story is told from Zane’s perspective, and it is heart-wrenching to say the least. I could truly feel Zane’s pain, guilt, and sense of helplessness as he waited for the police to locate Connor and Lili. I am not going to go into too many details because I don’t want to give anything away, but I had moments where I really wanted to reach through the pages and smack Zane for making the same mistakes. I saw Zane grow a lot in this book, but it wasn’t an overnight thing. Overall, I continued to love Zane and root for his happily ever after.
The second part of the story is told from Lili’s perspective, and this section is very graphic and disturbing, as it should be considering it is portraying human trafficking. Lili is a little woman with a lot of attitude. She is also a survivor, but proves that anyone has their limits. I love that she as not written was tough as nails and able to handle anything. She was more real to me this way. I loved her character’s growth throughout the book.
The remainder of the book alternates between Zane and Lili’s perspectives, and I had plenty of moments where I was honestly wondering if it was possible for them to find their happily ever after considering all that was happening between them. In the end, I was very satisfied with how everything came together, and I’m looking forward to reading Tony’s story next.
What a conclusion!! Zane and Lili's story comes to an end, but not without a ton of drama, heartache and a most beautiful love that is somehow still intact.
Picking up where we left off in book 2, Lili is now going through pure hell and to watch her tenacity, her selflessness on full display made me appreciate just how strong a character she is. It seems it is one thing after another for her and this time around, I wasn't even sure things would work out in her favor.
Both she and Zane are living separate lives, and not by choice. But even when life seems to leveling out for them, there is still a huge wall between them and with everything that has transpired since their house was burned to the ground, it's a wonder if they'll ever truly find their way back to one another.
This is a story of survival. Of hope. Of extreme circumstances. But through all the pain, the suffering and the loss, there is still the love. Lili and Zane were meant to be and nothing and no one should be able to stand in their way. Theirs was never an easy road but the hope that together they can find their way back made this journey worth every heartless detour.
I loved this series. One I had no plans to read but found book 1 on my Kindle, determined to delete it since I had no interest in reading it or even remembering that I purchased it! But once I started I was hooked and even though at times it's one helluva wild ride, I am thrilled I took the chance and experienced the hardcore affection Zane and Lili have for each other.
You must start at the beginning with book 1. You won't be disappointed.
My true rating is 3.5. I found Silently Broken to be a good read with a good mystery with a very interesting look into PTSD after being kidnapped. I understand that this is the 3rd in a series and I found it was a stand alone except there were a lot of characters all in the first few chapters and no real explanation as to how they related to each other. I kept asking myself - who is this and how are they related to Zane, friend? family? foe?
Putting that aside the concept of the story was very good. I did find it a bit implausible that when Zane found who was at the root of the problem he didn't go to the police.
As the story of the kidnapping evolves it becomes a page turner. As the tale unfolds it appears hopeless. Lilli finally gives up. Tish, Zane's brother, has a plan to try to rescue Lilli but keeps Zane in the dark. I really can't tell more without giving away the plot.
I think Maegan Abel did a great job of showing the main characters: Zane, Lilli, Conner's, feelings at what they would experience through their horror. The kidnapping, the trauma to a little boy, Lilli's experiences with the cartel and Zane's guilt.
I received a copy of this ebook through Barclay Publicity for review purposes.
Have you ever read a book that kept you so gripped all sounds ceased to exist around you? The people in your life became invisible? You suddenly were a part of the story? That's what this book did. I was drawn into the other books in this series, but not in the way this story brought me in. There were so many intricately and well written story lines that it was easy to live them beside the characters, experience what they were going through, their feelings. It was so heart wrenching at times I felt physically sick, but it made the book that much more powerful. Ms. Abel wrote a book that put me through the paces and that's why I love it. I want a book that makes me feel--drags me through the mud, kicks me in the gut, makes me cry, gives me hope, takes it away, and gives it back. I want to go through the emotions with the characters. She did that and more in this one. By far, my favorite of the series. I could not have asked for more in the ending to Lili and Zane's story nor could I recommend this book enough. Five stars is nowhere near enough to rate the fantastic writing or how much I enjoyed this book! Well done, Ms. Abel, well done!
Zane and Lili are the main characters in this final book of the series and deserved their story. This book is so beyond good it is crazy! There is not one moment in the book that you are not on the edge of your seat and thinking about what is going on and trying to figure things out. You will not be able to forget about this book, even when you are finished reading it because it is that good and that real. I could easily see this whole series as movies and I would be one of the first in line for a ticket. The words grip you and hold on to you and take you on a non-stop thrill ride which will leave you holding on and hoping it doesn't end. The characters from the previous books in the series are brought back and help move the story along. I will not give anything away from this story because you need to read it! Words that best describe this book are gut-wrenching, heartbreaking, gripping, and amazing. Ms. Abel is one of the best authors I have had the pleasure of reading in a very long time.
I am a huge fan of Maegan Abel's! I met her a couple of years back at a book signing and just loved her personality so I purchased her book, Perfectly Broken. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I purchased that book. From the very first page that book had my undivided attention. Zane and Lili became my best friends...and Zane stole my heart. The entire series is an emotional ride, you definitely need a box of tissues when you sit down with them.
Silently Broken tore at my heart like no other book has ever done. Maegan did a fantastic job when she wrote this one. The pain from Zane and Lili bled through those pages. I cried, snot cried, while reading this book. It's a page-turner, a keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat kind of book.
I refuse to spoil anything for you. If you are not a Zane and Lili fan then you need to head over to Amazon, or to the site you purchase your books from, and pick up Perfectly Broken to start this amazing series. You won't be sorry.
Silently Broken by Maegan Abel was a good book. This is the 2nd book in the series and you can read this book without reading the first book but if I could recommend one thing I would say to read the books in order. I was able to figure out what was going on but it would have been easier if I had read the first book. There are parts where things didn’t make sense because of the fact that I didn’t know the back story. I really did enjoy this book even when I was lost. The author did a great job of helping me understand why the characters did what they did. I love when authors can make me feel like I am there with the characters and this author was able to do that. If you love thrillers than I know you will love this book.
FTC:I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I have been looking forward to the conclusion of Zane and Lili's book for a long time now. I've absolutely enjoyed this series all while losing my mind over all the craziness that had happened to them. I was ready for them to have peace in their relationship and move on to all the happy times. I never imagined what was going to happen to them in this story. Saying things were intense is an understatement. I mean, WOW!!!! These two endured so much it's a miracle they survived. I'm gonna miss these two. I wish there was a little bit more on Conner at the end when he had his moment and that last little snippet has my mind going in circles lol. Awesome series!!!
This book left me with a complete reality of needing more from this author. Not that this book leaves you hanging, it's that knowing that this author's talent and know how on getting the readers caught up in the stories kind of feel. As a page turner you better believe that you will find yourself lost in the pages. Losing reality of time. This is a fantastic book!
I believe this the last of this series and although I have enjoyed every book in the series, Silently Broken may be my favorite. This is the continuing story of Lili and Zane and thus far, their lives have gone somewhat like a roller coaster. Sometimes they are not even on the same ride. Every book that I have read by Maegan Abel has been well written and are very hard to put down.
Great conclusion to Zane and Lili's story. Although definitely more graphic, this whole book's details were spot on. Absolutely loved it. Looking forward to the spin offs!!
