Tragic

This was my first novel by this author. I was in tears within the first few chapters and I cried a few times. The odds were stacked against Belinda from the beginning of her young life. I was rooting for her. Every time things started looking up for her she was dealt another devastating blow. This story tackles touchy subjects such as physical, sexual and verbal abuse. The novel made me feel uncomfortable at times. The writing was good and the author made you feel for Belinda. When Belinda gets a family of her own will she be the parent that she wishes she had ? This story touched me because I know that there are a lot of Belindas out there. The story didn't end as I had hoped.

Wow

Such a sad, sad story. This serves as a testament to seek professional help when experiencing trauma. Had Belinda talked to someone...anyone about losing her primary caregiver at such a young age, or even if one of the adults who failed her had the foresight to talk to her instead of at her, maybe her life would've been different. Although this is a fictional tale, there are many Belinda's in this world. Praying that they find the help they need and peace in their souls.

Belinda's Song; Category: The blues

I have no words for the tragedies Belinda endured. This book was nicely written and though I appreciated the lack of description of the gory parts; some areas seemed a bit rushed. All in all, it kept me reading and wanting to know Belinda's end. Not every tragedy turns into a triumph no matter how much we wished it would.

Belinda's Song is the type of book that grips your heartstrings, tightens them, and gets your blood pumping! I had to put the book down several times, because it made my blood pressure rise! The story had me wishing death upon the people who treated Belinda so horribly wrong. It is heartwrenching tale of innocence lost, and what happens when the mind, body, and soul is battered and broken. Just when I thought, "At last, Belinda gets a happy ending," the author quickly threw in a twist that had me literally in tears! My heart felt like it had been twisted and wrung completely out. You can almost hear Belinda crying out throughout the book; the song she sings is one of despair, desolation, and woe. I applaud the author for pushing the envelope, and look forward to see what comes next!

I would recommend this book to everyone who loves a good read, full of drama, thrills, and depth.

Heart broken from the very beginning.

This was a heart wrenching story, even more so because I can see this actually happening. Christine really pulled me into this tale, holding me captive, as I craved more of the disappointment that would ensue after reading every page. I felt so bad for Belinda....

Christine Pauls told this dramatic tale, brilliantly. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Horror

I truly enjoyed this heartfelt story. Belinda had a rough life and was unable to break the cycle. Unable to love another human being because of your history with life is heart breaking. This has happened to so many people in the world. Thank you for an easy read...

No Words!!!

When I first read the synopsis of this book, I was a little skeptical about reading it. I knew this would be a very sensitive subject for me, but I took a chance on reading it. My feelings would be personal because something in this read was familiar. However, it doesnt take away from how beautifully this story was written. My heart goes out to Belinda as my spirit cries for her. She endured so much as a child only to be met with worse in her adulthood. John and Vicky were real sick. They deserved all the fire and static that came their way. Van and Carmen were Belinda's angels. If it wasn't for them she wouldn't have had the nerves to tell her story. I hate the fact that Belinda's last situation was the one that took her out. She never came back from that. Maui didn't deserve anything he was receiving. That was a soft spot for me. This is an excellent read, but I really don't know to feel about this story. There are no words. I'm literally sitting here stuck like WOW. I did feel like I was living Belinda's story with her. I'm guessing that's why it hurt so much. This book has some trigger points. If you can bypass that you'll see that the ending is bittersweet.

At first glance there are several reasons I wouldn't choose to read "The Committe". First it's over 300 pages, secondly politics is weaved through the story and it's a trade paperback book. But this was one of the best I've read so far in 2016 and for such a time as this it put a lot of perspective on many of my questions leaving this reader wondering what if?

Hill has moved from the church in his previous title Come Sunday Morning to the Mayor's office and Mayor Camille Hardaway's people ain't playing. They want her in the white house at any cost.
Power, prestige and influence are the elements that make this an exciting read, but then Hill takes it to another level by throwing in voodoo, murder and intimidation.
What an outstanding read and if you haven't caught up with this author, I encourage you to do so

Don't judge me, until you've walked in my shoes!

Sexual abuse has no boundaries when it comes to taking over a victims life. No one can foresee how a victim is going to respond after having been stripped down to the bases part of themselves. Belinda had no role model. From the beginning of her life there was no one there to guide her into a future not filled with pain. Even if her mother had lived, because of the lifestyle she was living it was more probable than not that at some point in her tender early years of life she would have become the object of someone's demented life. Her life was never her own from the beginning. As a victim of sexual abuse myself, I can emphasize with her. No one can ever determine how the mind will react trying to shield itself from pain. My crazy could be someone else's normal. Belinda's abuse of her child was a manifestation of her mental instability, confusing humanity with ownership. She felt her child, since being a product of a rape, (the final straw that "broke the Camel's back") in a series of rapes was her "prize" to do whatever she wanted to do to him. As warped as it may seem, society has created this monster through constant victimization of the victim. Is there no one out there to help before it comes to this!

A Decent Storyline with "Fair" writing skills......3 Stars.🙏

The book dealt with Many issues and problems, that people Unfortunately face, in our society. Although Belinda, the Heroine of the story lived a life impaled with Sorrow and Grief- they are topics that DEFINITELY Need to be addressed, discussed.😒 The storyline was Unbearably Sad, but necessary......maybe Someone was Helped, by reading, 'Belinda's Song'.😕 However, the writing was just "Alright"..........it was an "Okay" read, but I appreciate the Author, Miss Christine Pauls for attempting to tackle such Heart-wrenching and Gut-wrenching subject matter.👍🏼 And even though this was a "Fictional" tale.....there are MANY "Belindas" in the world.........😥

Although the subject matter was a little rough for me, I thought the book was well written. The author was able to write a series of tragedies and keep the reader engaged. The author gave descriptions that weren't over the top but, enough for the reader to draw his/her own conclusions. This book had me feeling some type of way right up to the end, where the author finally allowed the sun to shine. I would recommend this book and look forward to reading more work from this author.

Emotional Rollercoaster

This was a great read. It was some parts I would've to have added to the book but it was still a great book. It really open up my eyes to foster care and how the system is set up.

Not Just Another Sad Song

Belinda’s Song was very well written. The author did a tasteful job of depicting details that I could only imagine. I also appreciated how the story was unpredictable. I found myself wondering what would happen next.... not once did I guess correctly. I hope to read more from Christine Paul.

Sometimes There Isn’t a Happy Ending

Belinda’s Song is a quick read that deals with serious subject matters that left my heart wrenching at times. Although, I’m not a fan of this type of storylines, I appreciate the author undertaking this story and giving us a look into abuses that can be factual in some people’s lives. I give Belinda’s Song 3.5 stars.

A Gripping Tale

Belinda's Song is a well written novel that chronicles the life of Belinda from age six into adulthood. Her mother who was a prostitute was murdered by her John which left her with no one to care for her.

It continues with her foray into the foster care system where she was raped by her adopted father from age seven until seventeen. The author shows in great detail the struggles she endured throughout her life. You can't help but feel her pain and I only wished her life had turned out differently.

A heartbreaking tale but I respect the author's ability to capture the readers attention and holding it throughout the story.

Wow....

Belinda never stood a chance in the world. One thing after another. The lost of her mother, the molestation by her foster parents, the rape smh. No wonder why she turned out the way they she did. Good read. Very emotional. Defiantly worth five stars.

Short read, but full of surprises

This book is my first from this author, the main character had a hard life. She could not catch a break. So it is almost understandable why she literally went coo coo at such a young age. And I would definitely recommend this book to others
