Mastering the Mistress

Rate this book
Get ready for a sexy Power Struggle...

A warrior who has vowed never to take a bride
Bought by a girl who needs a body slave... but has no idea what to do with him
Will Kaylee be able to tame the huge Havoc she bought at the Flesh Bazaar?
Or will Solar turn the tables and end up... Mastering the Mistress?

Solar M'Tex is a Havoc--a race of males who have sworn never to bond themselves to a female. So the idea of serving or loving any woman, no matter how beautiful, is foreign to him. But when he gets captured and sold at the Flesh Bazaar, he has no say in who buys him. Before he knows it he is the exclusive property of Kaylee, a lush little female from Yonnie Six who wants her own personal body slave.

Kaylee is new to Yonnie Six high society. She didn't even know she needed a body slave until her new friend Lyla told her. But when Lyla talks her into buying the huge, muscular Havoc, she doesn't know what to do with him--or have any idea how she's going to master him.

Soon they're in Kaylee's new dungeon with all the equipment a Mistress could need to tame a new slave. Kaylee does her best but when Solar gets free of his restraints, the tables are turned. Will she escape from the male she dared to try and master... or will Solar end up Mastering the Mistress?

Mastering the Mistress is a Brides of the Kindred novella but it can and should be read as a stand alone novella.

Main characters: Solar and Kaylee
Type of Bonding: Havoc & Yonnie Six

Another unique Kindred adventure - although the main character is a Havoc (ie. distant relatives to Kindred who have as a rule not to bond).
Solar is Thrace's best friend (we met him in the previous book Enslaved). He has been drugged, bound and becomes an unwilling slave at the Flesh Bazaar, ready to be sold to the first mistress like his friend Thrace.
Kaylee is from our hateful planet Yonnie Six, a planet where men are lower than animals and they are treated as sex slaves. She is an innocent girl not accustomed in having slaves. She has inherited recently a big fortune. Her best friend has conviced her to buy Solar as the perfect slave and sex toy and take him to her new house and dungeon to train him.
Of course the situation will change almost immediately and the mistress instead of mastering Solar, she will end up mastered by him.
The book has the usual hot sex scenes all the Kindred books have, it is short (the shortest book in the series) and it has great characters. The villain is excellent and very believable.
I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Evangeline Andersons story entitled Mastering the Mistress had me jumping for joy as it's part of her awesome Kindred series! Following on from the book Enslaved we meet Solar a Havoc warrior who has been drugged and offered for sale as a sex slave! He is bought by the sheltered and completely out of her depth Kaylee but on the matriarchal planet Solar finds himself on men are considered savage brutes frequently abused and worthless . Kaylee is unsure just what to make of Solar but as treachery stretches out it's hand it's her slave who will save her. Can Kaylee let him go?
This story was previously featured in the anthology Mastered 2 but if followers of the Kindred series missed it this is an excellent opportunity to catch up. Expect a strong alpha male showing the female of his dreams just how important to him she really is and prepare to need a cold shower as this talented author yet again turns up the heat. If this series is new to you and you enjoy hot sci fi then start at the beginning with Claimed and enjoy the journey

Kaylee is new to Yonnie Six high society. To fit in, she buys a body slave with the help of her friend Lyra. However, her new body slave, Solar, isn't really a slave. He was just captured very recently. Lyra tries to get Kaylee make Solar submit to her, but it doesn't work out so well.

I'm a sucker for the Yonnie Six books because I love the whole forbidden aspect of copulating with a male. I liked this one, but it wasn't delicious as the others because they didn't go to house parties or do any of those things. I guess the book was too short to do those things. I was surprised when it ended too, though the ending wasn't abrupt or anything. It made sense. And I appreciate the characters not saying "I love you" at the end because they had just met.

I wonder if they do eventually find Thrace. I read Thrace's book, "Enslaved", but I don't remember.

DNF
*One thing I absolutely HATE is when the main characters are being intimate, and the hero is thinking about OW he's been with. So gross. Especially if you're thinking that the woman you're currently with might be your life mate. I'm not sure what the term for life mate was in this book.
*That alone will usually make me DNF a book. However, on top of that nasty bs, I HATE when the heroine is a virgin but the hero isn't. I can't stand sexually repressed heroines. I swear, it's like every book I read anymore has to have a heroine who is a virgin, has never had an O, has only ever had bad sex, has only been with guys who wouldn't go down on her, etc. etc.. I'm really so sick of it. But I do maintain the double standard because I LOVE virgin heroes; they're my favorite. And I don't feel the least bit awkward or bad about my preferences because I didn't always feel this way; the sexual repression of female characters matched with the extensive and glorious sexual prowess of the male characters has driven me to this point. I do believe the fmc briefly mentioned (in thought not words) that she had been with ow in the past, but it was a brief thought, so I'm not for sure if it was said or not, to be honest.
*And if those things weren't enough, in the beginning of the story, her friend touches his private areas AND she basically forces the h to SA the H. I shouldn't word it that way because h had a choice, so she wasn't actually forced, but it comes across with that implication.
Those are from the first half or so of the book. I don't know what happens in the second half.
*This wound up longer than I had intended. Sorry lol. I hadn't planned on going on a rant. Anyway, happy reading all.

I have read quite a few of this Authors books, and not found one, I haven't liked yet. This is a great story, quite erotic with yet another type of HUGE male havoc much like a kindred. I enjoyed this book a lot, and look forward to reading the next book that goes long with this one. I still need to get through all the kindred books. I definitely would recommend this book, and any other books by Author Evangeline Anderson. Enjoy, and I worn you it is quite erotic, and romantic. What else could a girl ask for?

Solar the smitten and Kaylee the innocent.
It's fun, it's short, it's predictable and silly. But I enjoyed it. Solar is a Havoc, who are an all male people who never 'bond' with a woman. Kaylee comes from a planet where the women rule and men are seen as less intelligent and in need of taking care of... and unfortunately also kept as slaves. After recently inheriting a vast fortune from her great Aunt, Kaylee is out of her element in the upper crusty type society of the capital city. Solar and his captain are captured by slavers and sold on Kaylee's planet. Separated from his captain, Solar is sold to Kaylee under the guidance of Kaylee's dubious new friend. Solar wants to hate Kaylee for buying him and 'handling' him without his permission... but somehow he can't. It's pretty humorous how the author manipulates things to get Kaylee and Solar together without either seeming a villain. But it was super weird how they do their 'bonding' (nudge nudge, wink wink) while the unconscious bodies of the 'real' villains lie on the floor nearby. You'd think that would kill the mood?? shrug.

Have you ever wished for one of the Kindred tales to just introduce the characters, then move straight to the spice, immediately followed by the conflict, then the resolution without any extra stuff-and-fluff on the way? If so, this is the one for you.

Got from Evangeline Anderson newsletter, for a honest review.

I loved it. Kaylee and Solar pulled me in to wanting to know their story. Lyla was a evil person in the book and you just wanted to throttle her. Loved the steamy parts as well. The story had a nice steady pace and doesn't have to be read in order. I have read one and two of the series and loved them as well. Now you have me wanting to read more of the series again.

Thank you for letting me read part of your series.

The Brides of the Kindred books are always a sure-fire way to put a smile on my face. Because I enjoy those hunky alien dudes and their domineering ways!

To say Solar is domineering wouldn't be a lie. He's anything but submissive and only the drugs the slavers have given him keeps him in line. Kaylee is NOT prepared for a big, brawny body slave in the slightest. She's only looking for one at the guidance of her "friend" and things go sideways from there.

Also, Lyla is a jerk.

Buuuut, Solar and Kaylee do end up connecting (heh. Connecting. Is that what kids are calling to these days?) and something good does come out of the debacle. Also, Lyla is still a jerk.

I like Solar. I like how utterly set he is on NOT bonding to a female. Until he meets Kaylee and she burrows under his skin. GOOD TIMES.

Solar and Thrace have been captured and are being sold at the flash bazaar. It just so happens Kaylee is looking for a body slave for her new role on Yonnie Six. Lucky for solar she is more innocent and kind that most lady's on that planet.

I liked the short novella. There was not really a chance for a full fledged story to happen but I wanted to see how Thrace's story ended up.

Why would I subject myself to the pure torture of reading this abomination? I sincerely question my sanity at this point because it's not as if I was expecting it to be any less horrible than it turned out to be. It was all there in the description from the get go!

This is a quickie read, 14.5 of the Brides of the Kindred series. The Brides series is detailed and adds one book to the details of the next. This one is a shadow of the Kindred series, though I did find it worth the brief time it took to read it. Barely.

Solar M'Tex, a Havoc and a race cousins to the Kindred, although they almost never mate and form bonds with females. They use artificial insemination and only select males.

After Solar's ship was damaged, he and the captain barely made it to a station for repairs. While waiting they went to the bar for a drink. They were drugged and woke up chained in the hold of a slave ship. He is stripped and offered for sale.

Meanwhile, Kaylee, who lived a quiet middle-class life, finds that her parents were killed in an accident and a previously unknown aunt left her immense wealth and possessions to Kaylee. She attended one upper-class function, but was woefully unprepared, in soo many ways. An opportunist, Lyla attaches herself to Kaylee to teach her how to get along in the society to which she now is a member. On Yonnie Six, all upper class people own male slaves and flaunt them.

Lyla takes Kaylee to a slave market where, under protest, Kaylee is persuaded to purchase the biggest, most muscular slave. A taser is part of what is handed to Lyla before they leave for Kaylee's multi-storied penthouse. Lyla takes great pleasure in frequently tasering Solar, getting him more and more angry. She then excuses herself to make a call to a friend.

Solar easily and quickly gets out of his restraints and Kaylee finds herself in trouble. All Solar really wants to do is exact a bit of revenge and then find his captain and get off this horrible planet.
Obviously, there is a mystery and treachery to deal with while they find love.

It is a really quick read, not filled out as it could be, but enjoyable for a quick read. DOES NOT COMPARE TO THE KINDRED SERIES.

This novella is part of the Brides of the Kindred series, book 14.5, and is a follow-up to the previous book that focuses on another couple. The novella can be read as a standalone.
In this story, space pilot Solar is drugged and kidnapped, and he finds himself up for sale as a sex slave at a flesh bazaar. He’s a strong, sexy Havoc male and he’s determined to escape no matter what. Havocs are a male-centric alien race and they don’t bond with females, but they’re also cousins to the Kindred who do bond with females.
Kaylee and her friend Lyra are at the bazaar to buy Kaylee a slave to boost her social status in the female-centric world in which they live. Even though Kaylee doesn’t want a slave, Lyra convinces her to buy him and promises to teach her how to train him. Though Solar is angry over the situation, he’s drawn to Kaylee in ways he can’t explain. She feels the same toward him but their different cultures threaten to tear their tentative trust apart.
This is a really good story. Kaylee is a kindhearted but misguided young woman. Solar is patient, stubborn, and open for change, but on his terms. Their connection is fast, strong, and believable. Both characters are well developed, and I enjoyed watching them learn the error of their ways.
The story could use an edit. For example, sentences shouldn’t end with commas and single quotation marks aren’t used for dialogue. If not for the editing issues, I’d give this story 5 stars since I liked it a lot.

Get ready for a sexy Power Struggle...

A warrior who has vowed never to take a bride
Bought by a girl who needs a body slave...but has no idea what to do with him
Will Kaylee be able to tame the huge Havoc she bought at the Flesh Bazaar?

This was the first book of the Brides of the Kindred series that I read because I liked the blurb - I had expected an heroine with more character, more will power. I expected a mistress who needed training and who at some point then decided to give away control. But actually she never was a mistress, never even tried to train the slave; she was just a girl trying to please a new friend and trying to fit in a society she didn't belong to - or at least she did not belong to the elite, but she did grow up on a planet where male were considered the lowest rank of society and intimate relationships between women and men were crimes punished with jail, so her entire change of heart seems hard to explain. The decision of the hero is more understandable - he chose a path that was unusual for his kind, but not unheard of. The story was entertaining, a cute Sci-Fi fairytale, good to be read when you need some light-hearted distracion. It got me interested enough that I might read the follow-up about the captain of the hero and his female owner.

Kaylee has just inherited her aunt's estate. She grew up in the country so to speak, where she didn't have to worry about polite society's ins and outs. On her planet, all men are considered slaves or beneath women. The men are either used for manual labor or as sex slaves! Her new friend that is showing her how to fit in the the high society, has taken her to the slave market to purchase a sex slave! Kaylee isn't so sure she wants one but her friend talks her into buying a Havoc male that is HUGE! But what Kaylee doesn't realize is that this Havoc male, Solar is not a slave, never has been, he's the first mate on a star ship. He lives by the Havoc motto "Don't bond with a female", but he's finding it difficult to ignore Kaylee in many ways.. Want to understand more about their different worlds and motto? Want to find out what happens between Kaylee and Solar...then read this book.

I strongly suggest reading the series as well, although they can be read in any order...it's one damn good series with lots of action!

I never knew the Kindred Series also had Novellas!

When we were first introduced to Solar and Kaylee in Thrace and Trin's bok, I instantly thought I had missed a book. But whew! I only had the Novella to read.

I instantly wanted to read this book as these two characters are very similar to Thrace and Trin. Actually I find them a better pair. I was however disappointed that this book was quite short.

I wanted to read a lot more about Solar and Kaylee. I am satisfied with the short story we have in this book, but I wanted more. A whole lot more. These two were exciting to read about, but I found just having one small problem was just not enough for me. A couple of extra chapters would have added more fun and humour to the story.

For a short novella, this book was quite well written. Just a pity it was not a full book. It wold have been better if they also added in their trip to retrieve Thrace's ship, and the events that lead up to Solar telling Thrace he had bonded. That would have been an interesting conversation!

Havoc Solar M'Tex has followed the pattern of all other males in his rave and sworn to never bond himself to a female. So when he is captured and sold to a woman at the Flesh Bazaar as a body slave he knows he is definitely in trouble. Especially when he is bought by Kaylee who is new to planet Yonnie Six and has no idea that she needed a body slave until a new friend Lyla told her she needed one let alone what to do with him. When they are in her dungeon with all the equipment a Mistress could need to tame a new slave, Kaylee does her best but when Solar gets free of his restraints, the tables are turned. Will she escape from the male she dared to try and master... or will Solar end up Mastering the Mistress?

This is a sweet novella that contained a story about a girl who was new to an environment, trusted someone and the events that happened after that. I liked the way that Solar fought hard to resist her but failed in the end. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

40 % of the book is first chapters of several other books, so this is really a short story.

I have a problem with the man (Solar the Havoc) calling the woman he is penetrating "sweet little girl".
(It's not often my ick gets icking while reading, but infantilising grown up women will sometimes do it)
The story is simple, predictable, with little originality, but sweet.
In some lists this book is tagged "femdom" but it's not, at all.

I need to read more Evangeline Anderson to figure out if in every book couples "accidentally" end up having sex and/or if every book is forced proximity and clumsy dub-con :D This is only the fifth book of her I have read so I have a long way to go.
This novella is 10 years old now so I might try some of the latest works to figure out if the style has changed :)

I'd like to think I'm well aclimated to weird things but this book man.

Can't lie tho it b steamy.

I mean the concept is cool. But like after you take all the world rules into account it's... about liking vanilla. I mean when it's taboo but like... Vanilla. I guess it b amusing that the normal ppl are hardcore dominatrixes? Ah but they're also... um ... anti male suffuragists? Ok whew this is really weird when you analyze it... lets just gloss through the book skin deep and say we had a fun time.

Yeah...

I mean i liked the Gaurdians of the Galaxy vibes?

And also i need a bubble pool asap (as a bath enthusiast... i know the concept of the pool might seem a bit gross but... the magic properties of that sparkling water... Also i like sparkling water... But why is it pink? Clear sounds alot more hygenic and less pepto bysmol-y)

Good Read

Steamy but sweet tale of a rather strange planet where males are neither wanted not needed, except to be used as body slaves with no deep sexual interaction (except to humiliate and denigrate). Solon, a Havoc whose lineage demands he never bonds to a female, ends up being purchased as a slave by a young innocent, Kaylee, who is being manipulated by a “friend” - big sub story here and lots of interaction with both Solon and Kaylee. In quite an interesting twist, the tables are turned and Solon gets free, ready to leave this nightmare behind … but can he leave his attraction to Kaylee and go back to who he was before this nightmare began? Intriguing tale that just might tug a little at your heart.

I just love this series! So thrilled to read what happened to Solar, Thrace's friend and fellow Havoc. The author knows how to write alien erotica; the seduction and sexual encounters alone are really HOT, then add some dominance and you got hot sexy read. Even though the sexy parts are my favorite, the author gives us a story with betrayal and learning to trust on top of it. I would recommend reading "Enslaved" to help fill in the mystery of Solar's best friend and captain.

If you've read the Brides of Kindred series, you should read this. Even though it's a in-between short story, it's packed with action and a great book to read while you wait for the next book to come out.

>Book Review – Mastering the Mistress
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is a novella Kindred Tale and ends in an HEA. Solar is captured and sold as a slave to Kaylee. Kaylee’s friend is encouraging Kaylee to mistreat Solar, but when Solar gets free, he turns the tables and enslaves her. This book is very erotic, with scenes if non-consensual sexual domination.
>As is normal in all of the Kindred stories, Solar is a good male and ultimately saves Kaylee to get their HEA. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. The story was short and hot, but the characters weren’t developed.

This was the best Anderson book I think I’ve ever read because of the format. It was so short that there wasn’t much time for anything more than initial set up, a couple love scenes and a fairly small main conflict neatly resolved.

The only books Anderson should ever write are novellas, rather than waste our time with full length novels.

Oh, also, Anderson alludes to BDSM in this but she clearly has no idea what that is (outside of fairly soft femdom). I have no issue with that because male dominated BDSM is the bane of my existence, but it might make other people feel cheated so I thought I’d put it on record.

Loved the characters and the plot! I was taken by this story right away because of the innocence of Kaylee and my hope that bad things would happen to Lyra. The characters described in these pages were fully realized, I knew who I liked and who I hated, right from the start. The storyline was strong with Solar being unwillingly sold at a sex slave auction and Kaylee being bullied by her new friend Lyra into buying him. Up to that point I merely disliked Lyra. When she got Kaylee to interact with Solar and then Lyra's whole demeanor had me wishing bad things to befall her. I didn't expect the love story that developed or the wicked twist at the end, but I do love this story and how it ended.
