I bloody love Lindsey Kelk, you guys! She is an absolute hoot and her books are so fresh and funny, and adding a festive touch to her latest one makes it all the more perfect. A Girl's Best Friend is the third part in the About a Girl series and follows on from Tess' adventures in Milan in What a Girl Wants. While this could potentially be read as a stand-alone, I recommend reading the books in the right order. Not only to full understand the backstory of all the characters involved, but also because these are Lindsey's best novels yet and you don't want to be missing out on any of them.

Despite all the crazy situations Tess ended up in, the first two stories were kind of breeze for her as she found herself in her dream job as a photographer in stunning locations such as Hawaii and Milan and with two hot men to pick from. But Tess' luck seems to have run out and now she's back in miserable London, crashing in her best friend's Amy's room while her friend is making a life and career for herself in glamorous New York City. And Tess hasn't spoken to either of the potential love interests from the previous novels, Charlie and Nick, in months either. She is lonely, and with no well-paying gigs coming up her agent is ready to drop her if she doesn't book a job – fast.

It sounds like a pretty miserable starting point for a story and it certainly isn't fun to see this lovely character down in the dumps, but when Tess decides to book a last-minute trip to New York to visit Amy and spend Christmas in one of the most magical city in the world, everything turns around. Not only is she determined to enter an important photography competition there that might help her get her career back on track, but some quality time with her friends really does her good. Oh, and then there is the fact that Nick lives in New York and this wouldn't be a Lindsey Kelk novel if the lovers don't hilariously run into each other...

There is little I can say about Lindsey's latest novel that I haven't already said about her before; her characters are incredibly realistic and relatable, they end up in the most ridiculously laugh-out-loud funny situations, and her writing is such fun. She always makes me snort out loud on my commute and that is no mean feat when I'm in travelling home in a over-packed and delayed tube after yet another stressful day of work. Lindsey;s novels are the perfect remedy for the current miserable London weather and the miserable Londoners that result from that.

And while her books normally already make me wish I was a fictional character, just so I can hang out with Tess, Amy, Kekipi and the rest of the gang, oh my god A Girl's Best Friend made me want to crawl into the pages and party with them even more than before. Because not only are all the great characters from the previous books back, with the action having moved to New York there is the most insane collision of awesomeness when Tess meets Angela, Jenny Lopez and even Delia and Cici Spencer. My mind would have exploded if I wasn't so desperately focused on whether Tess would get back with Nick, or Charlie, as I needed a fully functional brain for when she would make that long awaited decision.

I am on the verge of embarrassingly gushing all over this book, so I'll leave you with this: If there is one novel you want to be gifting yourself, your sister or your best friend for the upcoming holidays then let it be this one. A Girl's Best Friend is filled to the brim with crazy happenstances and the colourful language that makes this a telltale hilarious Lindsey Kelk novel. It's basically a gigglefest from start to finish, with hot boys thrown in for good measure. And what more could you possibly want for Christmas?

The prologue is enough in this book for me to know I'm going to love this book, I've loved this set of three books in general. I didn't think I'd like a series as much as I Heart but this is up there with it. I couldn't believe it when so many of the characters appeared from I Heart Tess and Angela are two of my favourite characters and it's nice to see them interacting. It was like I Heart meets About a girl. Problem is it's got me craving another I Heart book again. I like Charlie and Tess so much more as friends but like her I don't know how I'd feel about Charlie and Paige. The lack of Nick was a little disappointing but he made up for himself at the end he seemed so sweet at the end compared to the other two books but he was still his charming annoying self that I grew to love until then. For me I read this book quick and in general I read the series quick. I spent less time reading three books in this series than I do some standalone, I would highly recommend this series, I'm going to miss reading about Tess.

I was really excited when this book landed on my doorstep. I loved both About A Girl and What A Girl Wants, the first two books of this series and if you have read my reviews oft hem, you know why I am excited.

We are still with the lovely Tess and let me tell you one thing: She is just so much fun to follow around!!!
She gets the opportunity to join her best friend Amy in New York over Christmas. I loved getting a better insight into their friendship. Of course the rest oft he gang is there as well: Al, Kekipi etc. They are an amazing group of people and very entertaining ;)

Tess is determined to finally making it as a photographer, even if it proves to be really hard. She wants to enter a photo competition at a gallery and works hard for it.
New York also means to city of Angela, Alex and Jenny. Remember them from the iHeart series?! Of course you do, who wouldn’t! We get the pleasure of having both Jenny and Angela as part of this story, which is just awesome! Thanks Lindsey ;)

Now back to Tess and her men! So after all what happened with Charlie in the past two books, they are not talking to each other. Can they get back to their old friendship?! And then there is Nick and yes I’m still #TeamNick, I think I even started to like him more in this book. He ended things with Tess in Milan and now she hasn’t heard from him in a few months, the thing though: He lives in New York. I was actually just waiting fort hem to see each other again and they way that turned out was a bit surprising for me, but it definitely made the whole story even more entertaining and fun. Towards the end we find out what is behind it all and what actually happened in the months they didn’t talk, just awwwww!

This book is just absolutely FABULOUS!!!! I have to say I kind of liked About A Girl and What A Girl Wants a bit more, but this one is still awesome! Lindsey’s writing style is very unique and makes you feel like being part of a movie. She has a real talent to engage a reader and put together a gripping storyline. I don’t want to leave this story, I need more of Tess and Nick!!!

Tess had a plan, then she exchanged it for a dream, then she fell with a bump. She jumps at the chance to spend Christmas in NYC with her best friend Amy and enter a competition that could save her career. Only Charlie just started talking to her again and she's not so sure about turning him down anymore. And in New York she could run into Nick, the man who broke her heart...

I didn't read the blurb, so I had no idea this was a christmassy read. And I guess if I read it while I was cuddled up, drinking tea and enjoying the christmassy amosphere, I would have given more stars.

I still like the style and story. It's just that Tess became less and less likeable the more time I spent with her. She's just so unreasonable lots of times. And Kelk started this book the same way she did the last. With a scene that makes you want to know, just to jump back in time. And a great part of this was hilarious but some also seemed just so ridiculous that it seems, the author just wanted to make the journey harder.

I did like how everything turned out to be not as it seemed.
In the end it's cute. I still like those people and Nick is amazing! But I'm pretty underwhelmed.

Lazy. Lazy. Lazy. I'm definitely going back on my Kelk hiatus.

This was not a good back. I find Kelk to be an incredibly lazy author anyway who reuses the same storyline all the time, but I have come to accept that. What I have not come to accept is her reusing her major characters all the time. STOP. THINK OF SOMETHING NEW FOR ONCE.

Aside from that, this book was really just a lot of complaining and whinging from Tess that things weren't how she wanted. And honestly? Nick was only in about 20 pages and Charlie about the same. So to call this book a love story would be an absolute joke.

I am still giving this book 2 stars though because Kelk does have a nice writing style, but that doesn't excuse her laziness here.

I’m sad to see the end of this series. It took me less then a week to get through 3 books and I really enjoyed this one.
I love the friendships, new and old. I still love Tess and Amy’s banter and how they always have each others backs.
I hate how Nick is hardly in this book. Why!!! It was set in NY it could have been an epic love story. But no. I was over Tess again in this book. If I have to hear someone deciding whether to do photography or advertising I will die I tell ya. DIE. All in all, this series has honestly made me so happy.
Still completely crushing on Nick, however we didn’t get to see enough of their loved up relationship.

I'm a huge fan of Lindsey Kelk and her books and as much as I liked this book I am a bit disappointed that Nick wasn't more involved in this book than in the others. *sulk*

As the book title already tells us, this book is a lot about a girl’s best friend but also about friendship altogether. Tess is lucky to have not only a best friend she can count on all the time but also a few other friends which have her back in time needed.
I really liked to see Tess being supported by her friends when she wasn't sure about what's going on with her life at the moment.
When Tess lost her job, her world got turned upside down. Without purpose in life, she didn't know who she was anymore and what she wanted to do with her life. And when she began to work as a photographer which was her dream job, she worked against all odds and tried not to listen to others who wanted to talk her out of it and told her that she wasn't good enough and that she would just throw away her life. Now she doesn’t really know what to do since photography is what she loves but without bookings there is no money. When Charlie offers her a high-paid position in his advertising company Tess is torn between the job she knows by heart and the security that comes within because of her knowledge and long-time experience and her new job she really loves and wants to continue but having no idea if it will work out any longer.

In the end Tess stayed true to herself and fought hard for the things she enjoyed and wanted in life.

I enjoyed reading about all her ups and downs and all the problems Tess had to struggle with – friendship, love, trust (in yourself and in others), hard work, expectations (of oneself and from others), not being afraid of doing the things we want to do and are happy in doing instead of just doing the things we should do or others expect us to do. =P

Lucky for Tess, she is rich in friendship because she has some amazing friends which always have her back and stay at her side no matter what.
With some good advices about life and a lot of funny and hilarious parts this book made me think about my life and if what I do for a living is making me happy.
This book made me reflect a lot of things and rethink some decisions. I really loved all the characters – Tess, Al, Kekipi, Amy, Nick, Charlie, Paige. I was happy that Angela and Jenny joined in on the fun as well. Like I mentioned before, I was a bit sad that Nick didn't play a bigger part in this book but it was a great book nonetheless.

Oh and let me tell you that I absolutely loved the ending. I LOVED the letters, the article and the note. *melt* *Big Heart*

Tess Brookes is by far one of my favourite ever female main characters. For three books now, her fabulous life and ability to take a risk have kept me hooked, and A Girl's Best Friend was simply amazing. It took me a couple of weeks to read it, which is almost unheard of for me, but I've been SO busy recently that I haven't had time to sit down and completely get into it, but every time I picked it up, I remembered what had happened previous and I was just so desperate for Tess to have some good luck for once! It was so much fun to see her in New York, with best friend Amy and Kekepi, and to see Al again, it's SUCH an awesome cast, Amy TOTES needs her own book.

I've been Team Nick since the first book, and he just makes me heart melt. The events of book two were devastating, but we DO see Nick again, so #TEAMNICK fans can rejoice. Charlie? What can I say about Charlie? That Prologue told me EVERYTHING I needed to know about Charlie. Ugh. Nick just has it all as far as I'm concerned, and the romance in this book will not LET YOU DOWN, peeps.

I have no idea if this is the last book for Tess, it was wrapped up very nicely, but I would love more Tess. This is surely just the beginning for Tess, so there MUST be another book, or five? RIGHT, RIGHT? But, like I said, I also think Amy needs a book. Amy is the best friend every girl should have. Every girl deserves an Amy in their life. She's AWESOME.

YES! Kelk fans rejoice - when Tess goes to New York, she meets Angela and Jenny from I Heart fame. As soon as I knew Tess was heading to New York,I was DREAMING about this collab. There is literally nothing more awesome for me when characters pop up in an author's future books. It made my day when I read those scenes, honestly it was just amazing.

This was another amazing installment in the life that is Tess Brookes. She has the best life ever, travelling all over the world, she has the most amazing friends a girl could ever wish for and NICK MILLER, man. Nick Miller. And there's Charlie, of course. Eurgh. Is this the end for Tess? I hope not, but if it was (PLEASE DO NOT BE THE END) it was a fantastic final book.

"A Girl's Best Friend" (AGBF) is the third and final part of the A Girl series by Lindsey Kelk. By the time I saw it in the bookstores I didn't even have to read the blurb before I was sold. The first book, "About A Girl" (AAG), was really special for me, because it taught me that if you have to plan out every single detail of your life, you might just be in the wrong plan. The second one, "What A Girl Wants", (WAGW) was equally meaningful in the sense that you don't want people in life who only treats you as an option until something better comes along. The third one here pretty much wrapped everything together with a nice Christmas bow, because it's about being AND staying true to yourself when the going gets real tough.

Before I scare the new audience of this series away, let me just say that AGBF can be read as a standalone. But of course, I highly recommend reading the whole thing, because Kelk is a master of the ROFLMAO writing style without missing a touch of chicness. Plus her characters are, albeit stereotypical (city girls, mean girls, gay best friends and broody love interests), uber colorful and comically flawed in their own idiosyncrasies.

So to give a brief summary, AGBF picks up from the last time we saw Tess, where she left her decade-long advertising job to chase after her dreams in professional photography. Now she's a bit in a rut, with the lack of well-paying gigs and little to show for her portfolio, plus lonely to say the least: She's stuck in miserable London while her best friend Amy is busy running the world in glamorous New York City. So when the opportunity comes to visit her BFF over Christmas, she went for it. And that's where the whirlwind of events begin, including the final verdict on whether Tess is #TeamCharlie or #TeamNick.

AGBF basically the perfect Christmas gift for your sisters and girlfriends, because Tess is easy and so much fun to follow, relatable in every way, yet etches permanent inspiration in your memory (it took two whole years for me to wait since WAGW came out). Plus, Kelk makes it look so easy to write dialogues that flow naturally, as if she's just recording real conversations that happened between her girlfriends. The pace wasn't too fast or too slow, as it sometimes does with plot-driven stories or well-written proses respectively. It felt like it's just the right combination of luck and grit to achieve the level of happiness any twenties-to-thirties girl would have been aspiring after in this day and age, cherry-on-topped with the kind of romance you'd never thought you could have, all penned by Kelk in such opportune pacing from the start of Tess's journey in AAG.

Definitely an unforgettable summer beach read, or snuggle-under-blanket-while-it's-cold-outside read, whichever part of the world you're living in.

Cliché book with cliché characters. What's the deal with all the chick-lit books having a clumsy, not the brightest pea in the pod girl with curly untameable hair for the main character? Are we supposed to relate to this sort of character? Because I am never able to do so. The author keeps trying to convince us the main heroine is this and that, but then writes her as someone completely opposite. What annoyed me most in this book was how Tess (main character) kept telling everyone what a great photographer she was when you could clearly see she had no idea what photography was. In the first pages of the book she tries to capture the light from the Christmas decorations playing on her friend's face and then takes her picture using flash. Built-in flash nonetheless. She says she needs a photo of a certain subject for the competition and then completely disregards the subject. And apparently she thinks photography is all about the colours and sharpness, not the story behind the photo. Seriously, author did a terrible terrible job researching what it meant to be a photographer.

I have read (and loved) almost all of Lindsey Kelk's books, and I think that this is my least favorite one. I still gave it four stars so you can imagine how much I loved the other ones :) It's best to read this book right after What A Girl Wants, if you leave too much time between them you will be a bit confused in the first chapters (as I was). All of our beloved characters are back, and lovable as ever. The humor and the bond between them really holds the book together, because the plot is way too similar to the previous books (Nick or Charlie! Job choices! Misunderstandings!). Two things that bothered me: Tess' selfishness (scene at the presentation) and the characters drinking the entire time. I'm not a prude but sometimes it seems like they can't have fun without getting hammered.
But still, a not so stellar Lindsey Kelk is still better than a lot of the chicklits out there and I'm looking forward to her next books.

This was such a perfect read with wonderful characters, great fun, and a nice message that sometimes, the possibility of amazing success is worth the risk of failure. Tess puts everything on the line for a shot (pun intended!) at doing what she truly loves for a living, even though she has much easier and safer options waiting for her at home. As a college senior only months away from heading into the "real world" for the first time, this was a much-needed reminder that sometimes the best thing to do is just jump - and build our wings on the way down.

Oh, and making Kelk's two book-worlds collide by including characters from the I Heart-series here was just... BEYOND. I loved loved loved that!!!

LINDSEY, YOU ARE A QUEEN! Kudos!

I read 34 percent of this book (per my kindle) before giving up. The first two chapters were frenetic and confusing. It did eventually calm down but I felt as though I had somehow stepped into a series and was very much at sea. The back stories are parcelled out, there are too many characters, and frankly, I just didn't care. How the heck did Kekipi fit into this? Who are all these people and how do they relate to Brooke? Why did it take so long to figure out who Paige was? There's good book in here if someone would straighten it out a bit. Sorry Harper Collins, which so generously granted me an ARC via Edelweiss.

Humbug. It's a 2.5 really - not even a little bit Christmasy enough. I suppose I'm not really representative of a typical Lindsey Kelk fan though - I don't read this genre except at Christmas, and then I'm a sucker for a glittery, snowflake bedecked cover on offer in the supermarket! I'm sure I'm not alone in that though, so if anyone with similar taste reads this I'd say give it a miss. I loved I Heart Christmas and hoped this would be along the same lines but sadly not. The characters were mostly borderline annoying (what kind of moron visits NY at Christmas without a winter coat and wearing Converse?), the relationship drama was dull, and the Christmas setting was wasted.

Took a couple of chapters to get into but then I was hooked and I knew I needed to keep finding time to read and see how it ended and if Tess ended up with Nick. It also really helped that for part of the book we were in New York - having just returned from there I loved being able to visualise these parts too. Only giving a four because one full chapter was so badly edited there were so much bad grammar and duplicated words I got annoyed reading it haha but other than that I really enjoyed this one.

Considering how I didn't realize this was the third book in a series, I probably can't pass a proper judgment on this book. The first two or three chapters were spent in confusion trying catch up with the multitudes of characters and their dynamics in relation to the main character, as well as all that happened to the main character within the past 2 books (or 6 months as it seems).
In terms of the story, it was a fun and feel-good read. The main character was good enough, I guess. Didn't love her but I didn't hate her which was a win considering this was a romance book.

Review first posted on 'A Spoonful of Happy Endings': http://spoonfulofhappyendings.blogspo...

It seems like nothing in Tess' life is going right at the moment. After having a great time in fabulous places such as Hawaii and Milan, she's back in grey and rainy London, and all alone. So, when her best friend Amy tells her to book a ticket to come and see her in New York, Tess knows she has no other choice but to get on that plane to find some excitement in her life. Spending the festive season in the Big Apple is of course already quite special, but Tess soon manages to find other opportunities to make her time in the USA count and start working on her dream of becoming a photographer. But when she is suddenly given a great chance to prove just what she can do and the love of her life makes a surprise appearance, the stakes are suddenly pretty high and Tess realises this trip might be more life-changing than she originally expected it to be...

Another great romantic comedy read by Lindsey Kelk; I'm really starting to think this woman will never be able to disappoint me with her novels! 'A Girl's Best Friend' is another fantastic instalment of the 'Girl' series, with the same great characters, a captivating storyline, and Lindsey Kelk's funny distinctive writing style. Tess is a relatable heroine, trying to follow her dreams but meeting a lot of obstacles along the way. I can honestly say I've never come across a character like Amy, Tess' best friend, before, but she just cracks me up and the friendship between her and Tess is just great.

All the other characters really make the story even better, such as Al and Kekipi, and I personally loved the fact that some familiar faces from the 'I Heart...' series made an appearance in this book. Because of this reason, I also think this novel is definitely the most fun to read if you're familiar with the author's other novels, especially the earlier parts of this series. However, the book can be read as a stand-alone as well, I just wouldn't recommend it. The book is promoted as a Christmas read, but I personally thought it wasn't that Christmassy, not as much as I had hoped it would be. Overall, though, 'A Girl's Best Friend' is another sparkling, fun and fresh read from brilliant chick lit author Lindsey Kelk; I loved it!

I received this book as a First Read. The book is well written and hilarious. A great piece of chick lit that keeps it real. Some of the best dialogue I've come across in a book. Kelk nails how girlfriends talk to each other. Nothing is forced just a nice flow of real conversations. The story moves along at a nice pace. The jobs make the characters a little hard to relate to - upper class society. It is however easy to identify with the relationship issues. A quick, fun, and amusing read that will appeal to fans of Jennifer Weiner and Sophie Kinsella.

☆☆☆☆Anti-Religion & anti-Catholic☆☆☆☆

Why does authors feel like it's ok to alienate a group of people? This is the 3rd book I read from this author and was so glad there was no political undertones. Then the 3rd book in the series we have to read "who goes to church anymore anyway." Really? Why? Yes some people do go to church and believes in god! I guess the best seller list New York Times obviously loves this? Why else go there? It would be nice to enjoy a book without dealing with an authors agenda. Don't say i didn't warn you.

Enjoyed this final instalment more than the second one, but there are certain characters throughout that just infuriate me.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think I may have grown out of liking Lindsey Kelk's story writing and her very similar 'escape to New York' plots.

Apart from that, I gave it 4 because it is a good chic flick and it made the perfect companion sat in the garden on a nice summers day.

Initially this book captured me and seemed really fun however the further I got in the more I started skim reading to simply know what happened next. I didn't feel the need to finish this book properly. Some of the storylines began to get a bit ridiculous and seemed more of a far fetched imagination than a realistic love (or work!) story.

Have read all the books by Kelk and can honestly say this is the best yet. There were sad times, happy times, challenging times, exciting times and big huge surprises which made me stay up and finish the book. I loved the characters from the Girl and I Heart series meeting up and it felt like a huge party that I was invited to. And yeah I cant wait to visit New York...

The book was a nice and easy read, although I have to admit, that I've read better books written by Lindsey. This one hasn't been as funny as others. However, I enjoyed the fact that Tess met Angela and Jenny and how the plots of two different series are coming together!
