Dr. Larry Martin looks at the contradictions between today's costless Christianity and the true New Testament faith. Jesus called on His disciples to take up a cross while many contemporary believers are more comfortable in a user-friendly environment.
Martin give the church a wake-up call. If Christianity costs nothing, it is worth all it costs.
Dr. Larry Martin recently spoke at my church and he gave this book out for free, but only if you promised to read it, so of course I took it and read it. Like how he speaks this book is very well written and communicates its ideas very well. While I don’t completely agree with everything written in this book, I do agree with the overall point of holding strong to your faith in Christ, not letting the world influence it, and not letting the cost of holding on to your faith cause you to lose it but instead use that as an opportunity to make it stronger.
Dr. Larry Martin asks the provocative question, "What did it cost you to be a Christian this week" throughout the book. His work will cause the Christian reader to think deeply about exactly what it means to be Christian. He looks at some of the gimmicks "churches" are using to get numbers up and make Christianity easy. But, Christianity isn't easy. It is a good book. I will read it again, multiple times I am sure.
