You might think you know which ladybug will win the race, but this wordless story has a surprising twist! Hundreds of ladybugs—red, orange, brown, yellow, and black, all rendered true to size—race across the pages, each one hoping to be the first to cross the finish line. It’s harder than you might think. Will the winner be the fastest? Or the kindest? Maybe there will be more than one winner. What does it mean to win, anyway?
The Ladybug Race received international recognition as a Silent Book Contest finalist. It is the Author's first picture book.
Even though this book was only pictures it said so much. It does not matter what color, size, or your speed. If you have determination and faith you can accomplish great fits!
We are a second grade class. We thought your book was fantastic! It was so good even though there were only pictures. We loved the part when the little ladybug helps his friends. We thought the illustrations were clever, especially when the ladybugs got stuck in the crease of the book! We liked this book because some of us had never read a book without words! The pictures had lots of details and told the story. This book reminded us of The Book with No Pictures, because this was a book with no words! This book reminded us of how a movie can look. We would recommend this book to anyone who loves stories about friendship and bugs! We think boys and girls of all ages will love this book.
Need to "read" this wordless book more than once and pay close attention to get the subtle but wonderful message of kindness and what it means to win. Kids will get it and it is a message worth sharing.
