Having a grounded and building faith is important to me, and this book had some great tips for maintaining that type of faith. I'm really glad I read it and can recommend it to others looking to deepen their faith journey with God. The author brought his own style to his examples and analogies, some of which brought tears to my eyes. It was quite clear to me that Mr. Loritts, Jr. loves and serves God, and that he wants to help others discover such a passion for our Lord as well.

Faith does not come up with things for God to do. Faith responds to what God wants done. Faith releases the plans and purposes of God through our lives. Further, there is a relationship between the clear statements and promises in the Word of God and what he places before us or on our hearts to do, become, or accomplish. This is one of the most important anchor lessons in the Christian life.

How does your faith hold up? Are you discouraged with your faith? This is a great study on faith and I would go on to say one of the best studies I have read. It is clear and concise in stating what faith is but more importantly what faith is not. Faith is not the power of good thinking or manipulation but resting in the truth of who God is. God being creator is the source of all truth. Many times this is hard for us to understand and it even difficult for us to pursue because of sin but faith is a forward action. It is always moving us forward to the truth. This statement speaks this very thing…If we view faith through the lens of the world, we will be “reasonable”people pleasers, held hostage to conventional wisdom. But in the words of the apostle Paul, God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.

Who is at the source of our faith? Is it us? Is it identity? Anything else is here today gone tomorrow. It is God’s love that holds all things together. The molecule Laminin is a molecule that holds us together. When looked at under a microscope, it looks like a cross. (this great video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCrvi... might help you see how great our God is) Even our love for God does not secure us. Many times in all things we do, it becomes a source of security but if you notice it is the love of Christ that holds us. It is the cross. That is the source of our faith.

What is the Focus of our faith?. Do we focus on what we are doing? What ministries we are involved in? Don’t get me wrong. Ministry is important but we need to be aware of the focus. The gospel is all that we have. It is that simple when it comes to the focus of our faith.

What is the strength of your faith? It is not strength of our faith that saves the day, but the power of our savior. It is with our commitment and response to Christ that our faith grows and we are transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Faith – it is by faith we can please God, it is by faith we can know Christ. Faith is such an important doctrine and not a cliché. Faith is not arriving but pursuing. This study is a journey of that pursuit.

This book is SO good! It was a gift from a coworker, and I picked it up to start reading at just the perfect time— a few days before my mother told our family that my dad’s cancer had spread and he was placed on hospice…

“Sometimes God chooses to demonstrate his power by supernaturally changing our circumstances. And sometimes he chooses to leave us in the hard, difficult places, but gives us his sustaining power.” I decided to slowly read this book, highlight and underline parts that spoke to me, and am so grateful to have this book near while walking through the new journey I found myself in. This is a great reminder of God’s faithfulness and it challenges believers to grow their faith by surrender and finding JOY amidst devastation. This is a book I will read over and over again, I’m sure :)

This is going to become one of go-to books for young believers! This book does a deep dive into what faith in Christ really looks like and how it changes everything. I was convicted with every page!

One of my favorite quotes, talking about comfort: “Faith clings tightly to God and His Word, but holds everything else with an open hand.”

Some strong sections but it felt a bit disjointed...I couldn’t always see how things were connected.

Quick read. Reading it helped me slow down, breathe a little, trust God more deeply, and keep living by faith even when I don’t have the whole picture yet.

Sometimes a book providentially crosses one’s path at just the right time. I had that experience with Unshaken by Crawford W. Loritts, Jr. I have thought a lot lately about how to deepen my walk with Christ, and events both within the world and within the larger church have shaken me up more than I’d like to admit. It’s easy to put on a happy face and say that we have faith in God, but it can be hard in those private moments when we wonder where in God’s plan all of these crazy events fit.

Big questions, these. And Loritts explains faith and theology in a way that takes big concepts and makes them approachable for those of us not called to a seminary education. Best of all, Loritts not only explains, he reminds and encourages readers over and over again with biblical truths and promises.

So often, when I have heard messages about faith, they have veered too close to that “name it and claim it” realm that promises if one only believes enough, then what you wish will come to pass. And if you find yourself persecuted or in hardship, then you must not be believing hard enough. This philosophy proclaims shame upon those who doubt.

I'm not sure how many places there are in the Bible where a sentence starts out, "By faith..." But I felt something click for me as the author, Crawford Loritts, Jr, set them before me in this book. He takes the time to tell us about why God is to be trusted and that the Bible has shown us that we should have unshakable faith even during the difficult times when it is so easy to doubt.

I read an ARC copy of this on my kindle, and I have so much of the book highlighted, I'm know I'll read it again and again.

Absolutely loved it! It's a thought-provoking exploration of what makes lasting, genuine faith. And it does a great job connecting to the life we live and what faith means practically. Chapters are short and digestible, asking direct questions and posing great questions for reflection.
