Libby and the Class Election

Rate this book
Charming Libby is a people pleaser who is slow at making decisions. She has to learn how to say no, stand up for herself, and feel more confident about her choices. All of the Star Darling roommates have received beautiful bouquets of sparkly flowers welcoming them to Star Academy. The band tryouts begin and many different girls show up to audition. Meanwhile, the Star Darlings are dealing with their personal conflicts and issues. Libby's mission: Libby finds a flower in the Wish Caves, but her only clue as to whom it belongs is a ballot with two names on it. When Libby goes down to Wishworld, she identifies the wisher and exhausts herself, thinking she has to help grant all the wishes. Libby's friends come down to help her get back on track.

I honestly am impressed with how much I am enjoying this series. It is far from my normal genre of prefered reading material.

But this is an in-depth childrens series that I feel will really challenge them and help them grow to love reading. The writting is accessible yet complex. Most childrens series feel dumbed down too far, but this series feels fresh and invigorating.

While the plots are not vastly complicated, and I find parts to be predicting I am an adult, so that is to be expected. Although I did not expect the surprise in the epilogue of this volume. I really was surprised and can't wait to get the next few volumes.

When i read the first Star Darlings book, I expected each one in the series might stand alone, so that you could read them in any order, but this book makes it clear that while each book will focus on a different girl, there is an overall story building up.

In the second installment of the Star Darlings series, we focus on Libby and her mission, but we also get introduced to some mysteries. Strange things are happening around Starling Academy, and even something as simple as trying to put a band together gets complicated when everyone in the school finds out about it.

There so much going on in Starling Academy that Libby's mission becomes something of a break in the action. Like Sage's mission, Libby's is cute and not terrible complicated, but still enjoyable.

What happens when Libby returns though, is unexpected. And the one small issue I have with this book: ending with a cliffhanger is fine, but I think the book stopped just a bit too earlier. It's like we see the cliff, but we can't even see whose hanging there.

On a side note, I was not sure if I would like this book since Libby in the web animation is a bit flighty and boy crazy. Her characterization in the book is actually pretty different, and makes me feel like the animation does not do her credit. She's actually an insightful and caring person.

A good second book and sets up several interesting mysteries for the following books.

„Либи и училищните избори” е втората книга от серията Star Darlings, разказваща за сбъдващите желания диви, които трябва да се приспособят към живота на момичета от Земята… тъй де, Желандия! Дванадесетте смели героини са натоварени с нелеката задача да помагат на хората в сбъдването на мечтите им, но и да сложат край на егоистичните и лоши желания, които се прокрадват наоколо. Libby is sure she can succeed in her mission to Wishworld just as her friend Sage has, but it will take the help of her friends to balance the stresses of class, band auditions, and the mystery of the flowers that have appeared in all their rooms...Zappa continues this lighthearted series with another cute and colourful adventure. What will it take for Libby to get her wisher's dreams off the ground?

Charming, intelligent, and perfect for its audience. The story and main point of the book is strong and well thought-out with an emphasis on friendship, which I loved. While the main 12 books have a sort of episodic format to them, I think it works well given that we get to learn about each member and what makes her special, and I enjoyed seeing the parallels between Libby's mission and her current experiences as a student. Giving it 4 because the resolution was just a tad too cheesy for me, but still adorable.

This chapter book is the second in the series, Star Darlings. At the beginning of the novel, I felt that the world created for intermediate readers was too intricate, but as I read on, I discovered that the world begins to make more sense. Basically, Wishworld is the place where Starlings grant wishes that we mortals make here on Earth. This particular tale builds on the idea of friendships and the elements that can tear them apart both for Starlings and humans. In this title, Libby is the Starling that must learn to focus on her goal of finding her Wisher and fulfilling her wish. I would recommend this to readers who are not ready for Teen fantasy, but who are good enough readers to understand this highly developed new world. I would recommend it for both school and public libraries.

What a startastic new series Disney has come up with! The second book in this series is about Libby, a special little starling who embodies the constellation Libra. The story focuses on Libby as she helps Ava fulfill her wish to be class president, well that's what Libby thinks Ava wants... will she figure it out before it too late?

Some problems with this story... I understand that it IS an ARC but some things were not addressed at the end of the story... Who sent the flowers and why? Not having this resolved by the end of the story is very annoying, since it had built up through the story I was looking forward to seeing what in the stars was going on. Another problem is that Libby's Wish Orb moment never happened and Lady Stella drops a drama bomb that just ends wit her asking all but one starling to leave and that there is terrible news. If it was intentional, then it lacked some extra content since the ending was just essentially dropped into the readers lap. It's very unsatisfying to read a great story and see the ending just thrown together...

I'm really enjoying this series already and while I'm disappointed the next book(s) doesn't come out until January (what a wait!), I'm happy to see that there are a lot releasing next year all within a few months of each other. None of that waiting a whole year for sequels crap that's so common in YA or adult novels. I'm even more eager for the dolls releases after reading this second book and hopefully they'll keep me entertained while I wait for the next book. This story ended with a bit of a cliffhanger involving Scarlet, who I suspect will become my favorite character by the series end. And the girls form a band in this book, which just stirs up even more of those nostalgic Jem feels for me. I can't wait to see what they do as a band in future books! ;)

The second book in this series was just as engaging as the first! I love this series. The only reason that I'm giving it four stars instead of five is because there were several mini plot points brought up in this installment that were never concluded. I'm sure we will see resolution in other installments of the series, probably the next one, but I found it frustrating as a reader. It was probably a ploy to get me to read the next one, but it really came off as unfinished. I'm still excited to read the next one and see where the Star Darlings go next!

For: fans of science fiction or boarding school settings; readers wanting books involving infiltration or books about school dramas.

Possible red flags: fighting among friends.

This is the second book we've read in the star darling series. We love the books! My girls and I read this every night and although the book has higher level words the kids are able to enjoy the book. I have a 6 & 8 year old that we read together and an 11 year old who reads with or without us and we all love it.. Even my husband wanted to know what happened. This has great messages and I would recommend!

I really enjoy this series. It's similar to Ever After/Monster High with a heavier sci-fi aspect. Very cute, fun, quick read.

Slightly cliché plot but my younger self loved it and would have given this five stars, so there they are, but in truth, my younger self would give pretty much any book five stars.
