Healing Love through the Tao: Cultivating Female Sexual Energy

Rate this book
A new edition of the bestseller

• The first book to reveal in the West the Taoist techniques that enable women to cultivate and enhance their sexual energy

• Reveals Taoist secrets for shortening menstruation, reducing cramps, and compressing more chi into the ovaries for greater sexual power

• Teaches the practice of total body orgasm

For thousands of years the sexual principles and techniques presented here were taught by Taoist masters in secret only to a small number of people (sworn to silence), in the royal courts and esoteric circles of China. This is the first book to make this ancient knowledge available to the West.

The foundation of healing love is the cultivation, transformation, and circulation of sexual energy, known as jing. Jing energy is creative, generative energy that is vital for the development of chi (vital life-force energy) and shen (spiritual energy), which enables higher practices of spiritual development. Jing is produced in the sexual organs, and it is energy women lose continually through menstruation and child bearing. Mantak Chia teaches powerful techniques developed by Taoist masters for the conservation of jing and how it is used to revitalize women's physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Among the many benefits conferred by these practices are a reduction in the discomfort caused by menstruation and the ability to attain full-body orgasm.

Mantak Chia is a Taoist Master. He is best known for teaching his Taoist practices under the names of Healing Tao, Tao Yoga, Universal Healing Tao System and Chi Kung. Throughout decades of teaching, he has run numerous workshops, written a series of books, and published a number of training videos. For this reason, some people call him an author, a teacher or a healer. He views himself primarily as a teacher, "who helps his students empower themselves through cultivation of their chi energy." The concept of healing your sexuality with your lover is intriguing, but the views are too out dated and the literature itself is too complex to be enjoyable. A more accessible variation of this concept is found in "Intimate Wisdom" by Karinna Kittles-Karsten.

struggling between 3 and 3.5 stars...

this was a very interesting reading to know about the female (my, wow:)) sexual energy, but I don't think I have the
a, simpy the energy
b, time
c, cultural background
d, my partner's patience
to set the theory into practice so to say...
so I have to find another methods, but this was a really interesting cultural journey anyway -into a (for me) unknown world, sometimes strange (or alien) train of thoughts - I found this really amazing!

I've had this book for 1,5 years now, and reading in it gives me instantly the confidence that it's written by someone with great knowledge on the subject and for sure presenting some very powerfull stuff!
But to be honest, it stopped there for me...I never managed to get trough the book.
The text is kind of dry, I'm missing the juicyness of female sexuality! It is so very clearly written by a man, and even if he has great knowledge about what he is writing, it is written in a quite male manner...
Also for me not having english as my main-language, when it came to the physological aspects it was hard for me to follow. I all the time felt like I would need a teacher or at least a study-group to be able to figure out how to do the exercises correctly.
And that ladies, is actually my tip if you want to work with this book, do it together with others!

Chinese scholar Douglas Wile says "Chia's books contain a wealth of authentic teachings and original synthesis, incorporating Western science, Tantric concepts, and the author's own experience. They are the richest documents for researching the continuity of Chinese sexual practices in the modern era and for the process of their acculturation in the West. The detail of his discussion of genital calisthenics simply has no parallel in the published traditional texts and marks the debut of large quantities of oral transmission in print." This book is only really good for chapter 7 on jade eggs; the rest is just woo city, plus the text is dry and outdated. Using sentences like "...with sex organs in old age as tight and resilient as those of an unmarried lady" is quite backward and assuming in todays era where nearly all women are smart enough to drive before they buy.

The concepts and teachings are interesting. However the exercises are far too abstract to actually be understood fully unless taught in person.

Some interesting takeaways and I enjoyed the ancient wisdom. The writing was tough to get through and extremely repetitive. Couldn’t read it again.

I really enjoyed this book. It was quite fun to read this Taoist take on sexual kung-fu and its place in healthy life, healthy relationships, and spiritual development. The orgasms of each organ, syncing these practices with the inner smile, also seem intriguing. The details of women's genital anatomy are interesting, too. I appreciate knowing what my partners may be working with. Rudimentary knowledge of Taoist and other energy body systems may help with reading the book (as some reviewers find it complicated :-o). There is even an interview with a practitioner near the end :- ).

I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. The book requires an open mind and a sincere effort. I had to take frequent breaks from reading this relatively short book in order to digest and return. It is to be reread and studied as the concepts outlined here are meant for daily practice. It is a guidebook to be referenced repeatedly.

“Ovarian Kung Fu" is a term from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Taoist practices that focuses on exercises and techniques to enhance feminine energy, vitality, and overall reproductive health.

The book guides you through techniques that aim to cultivate jing and balance the body’s qi. Even if you don’t pick up the entire practice, there are well laid out meditations, visualizations, and breathing exercises here that are significant on their own like the microcosmic orbit meditation. Lots of diagrams.

The visualizations were notably my favorite part and emphasis on single cultivation (solo practice before finding a partner for dual cultivation).

Activating energy flow in this region women can increase circulation, improve hormonal balance, and enhance overall well-being. All good stuff but I definitely had to be in a particular mood to be receptive to this info.

A Description of Transformation

Chia's book Healing Love Through The Tao: Cultivating Female Sexual Energy is an insightful and revealing book about sexual energy. So much of the West centers on the quick sexual experience that they miss something deeper within each one of us. They miss the cultivation of sexual energy and how it can rejuvenate us and give life for themselves and in relationships with others. With sexual transmutation, they can experience more creativity in their lives. I believe this book can help females transform and become healthier.

I'm divided on this book. Some of the exercises in this book obviously cultivate a lot of strength in the pelvic floor, which is very good for women, and any kind of meditation is good for the brain. But a lot of this seems a bit too esoteric for anyone who's looking to simply improve sex with their partner. This is going beyond just better sex to generating some kind of healing superpower--cool, but maybe a bit ambitious for some (too much for me at this point in my life). Still, I'm keeping it around in case I want to try some new exercises.

The promise of the book and general theory behind me are right in line with my own beliefs and at first i was thoroughly delighted to find a manual enabling me to cultivate my sexual energy on my own, but the exercises and the frequency demanded proved too much so I stopped somewhere in the beginning. This is more a reflection of character than the book of course, and I will update this review should I return to this book at a later stage.

It's an exercise book except of the first 90 pages, I knew from a doctor that the male eddition(Taoist Secrets of Love: Cultivating Male Sexual Energy) of this book is applicable and beneficial if practiced regularly and It is very good for couples who practice together (as mentioned also in the book).

Energy is everywhere and it would be great if we can all control it and use it for healing. In general, I found it hard to follow the concept of the book, especially at the beginning. Towards the end it is written in a more understandable way. I simply think I do not have the spiritual capacity to really open myself to the practices described by the author and I do believe practicing these requires some experience with similar lifestyles.

Just starting...not so sure.

Clearly it's for somebody since a lot of people love it. I'm most certainly NOT one...not even a little bit. Maybe I needed...I don't know...a guide/teacher? I'm open to anything on a metaphysical level, but much of this sounded completely hokey to me.
