About the author

The University of Navarra is a private university located on the southeast border of Pamplona, Spain. It was founded in 1952 by Saint Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, the founder of Opus Dei, as a corporate work of the apostolate of Opus Dei.

I was looking for a something akin to the Landmark Ancient Histories and landed on the Navarre series. While this checked all of the boxes, a few structural elements could have been improved. I wanted expository footnotes, but sometimes there were too many! I would have liked the Vulgate text accompanying the content, rather than in an appendix, and maps should have been embedded within the text. Overall, this is the best you can find.

You're average Bible commentary has a definite apologetic or historical focus. This Bible is absolutely focussed on deepening and developing your Spiritual life. Especially helpful for Catholics. You'll never read the Bible the same way again.
