Monsters: A Dark Romance

Rate this book
I've left my past in the dust, risen like a phoenix from the ashes.
I am Lola Lexington, soon to be Roberts. My fiance is rich, successful and handsome as hell. Yet I'm still hung up on Dylan Rawlings, the boy who took my virginity and committed a horrible crime with me when we were teenagers. I'm not supposed to look back, I never have. But I can't resist my first love... I can't forget the horrible thing we did, the event I've tried to pretend never happened.

My fiance Matthew is my future. My bright, shiny and perfect future.
But Dylan is my raw, broken, imperfect past.
And I don't know whether I can choose between the two.

***Monsters is a dark romance novel with a HEA. this is a dark & sexy read with murder, suspense and dark themes. Do you dare read it?***

I really wish I had more time to write reviews.... I started writing reviews when I was young before Amazon/Goodreads.... writing in my diary about my harelquins romance books. My personal review fan club. (LMAO) I was such a dork!!!
I would write my reviews into my journal and write possible alternate endings to my fav books that I read in junior high and highschool. This review is from my point...and only my opinion...always remember that this book maybe for you...But for me personally I gave it 2 stars for writing and effort and I also love that cover.. Dam sometimes authors reel us in with those dam covers.....DAM YOU!!

With author Alyssa Alpha I found myslef asking how could such a promsing book have a such a off title. Dark romance is what I wanted. For me it's that taboo of not being the within the perfect love of riding into the sunset with my prince. Sometimes I want that bad boy riding a bad A?? car/bike/ talking bad and acting bad etc.etc.
I found this book lacking many things...but for me this book lacked what it offered....Dark Romance. This book is nothing more than a thriller...which I am a big "oh Hell NO" I hate thriller overtaking romance.
The heroine in this book had prmosing character and yet I found myself just skipping through the pages..."Some one release this chick from her poor rich misery". What I did find myslef loving was Dylan. I loved his determination, his passion and his love for his girl "LOLA".
LOLA finds herself between Matthew (hot rich guy) and Dylan(hot Brit)(who doesnt like a guy with a accent). The book flips back and fourth from present to past to "Holy waffles ...Just get to the point". I really thought the first half book was good and then it went down hill for me.

Not for me...LOLA I wish you the best!

Was lucky enough to snag this one as an arc from the author for an honest review. And OMG...am still shocked over the ending. Wow...want to read Part 2 like NOW. LOL. Really enjoyed this complicated, if not dark love triangle between Lola, Mathew & Dylan. Loved both Matt & Dylan for different reasons. And yes, shed a few tears at the end...just wow! Was not expecting that ending...

This story intrigued me and in a good way. It is very strange and ends on a cliffhanger. I need more....

Ok, I AM DAZZLED. I don't know what I expected, but what I found is totally different and that's good, good, good. I wish I had the second part ready for me this instant because that ending is worth a million bucks.

The author's writing style is good, delivering some sentences to frame, and though the pace is slow I applaud her decision to mix past and present as it added mystery and tension. With a dramatic couple of first chapters, the story slowly unfolds to show a woman's grasp at happiness with a man she's about to marry. Several things try to mar her success: her horribly dark past, her commanding mother-in-law-to-be, and the disruptive presence of her first love.

At first, I thought he would be a menacing counterpoint to her life, but Dylan takes a second position to Matt, her fiancée. There are steamy scenes, tortured memories and feelings, and the promise in the air of an axe to be falling down in an unsuspected moment. And, wow, I did not see those weapons coming down so forcefully. I loved, really loved the harsh surprises at the end of this first part. Now, I'm waiting, openmouthed, to see what happens next with this doomed bride.
