I’ve never felt more alive than when I’m on my knees before my master.
Some would say I should be ashamed.
Others might say I’m filled with sin.
I say I’m just a woman with unstoppable determination, doing whatever it takes to secure her freedom before the opportunity fades forever.
Nobody knows about us. Not my father, my three mothers, or my seven brothers and sisters.
I was bred to be chaste and true, expected to find a respectable polygamous man and carry on the tradition of our faith.
But this man? The one who owns me with biting kisses and the crack of a leather paddle? He might be the only thing that can save me.
Submission equals freedom. It’s an equation I never thought possible until the day Dane Townsend showed up in my life.
I’m Bellamy Miller, and this is what happens when an angel loses her wings.
AUTHOR’S This is a stand-alone spin-off of Amazon Top 10 bestseller, Arrogant Bastard. You do not have to read Arrogant Bastard first though this book does give away the ending. No cliffhanger. HEA.
I honestly didn't like this one. Why? 1) No romance whatsoever. The H keeps repeating there's nothing between them but sex. I almost believed him. Until, during the epilogue, they are getting married? Sorry, but that was hard for me to believe. 2) I didn't care for the h at all. 3) I was expecting more plot development. Overall, I wasn't happy with this one. A total pass for sure.
Spoiler Ahead Read At Your Own Risk This was a really good book. Bellamy Miller grew up in a home where her father has three wives and a lot of kids. At twenty-two she knows that its only a matter of time that her father will marry her off. Bellamy has been sneaking around with Cortland a boy she met at bible study who is also from a polygamous family also and he has a Dominate personality. Dane Townsend is a rich arrogant Dom who meets Bellamy in a bar when she lies to him telling him that she just got a job with one of his friends as a "concierge" his sub although she didn't know what it meant. So what does he do offer her the same job with the pay of 20 grand a month and she takes it. This was a really good book Bellamy continues to lie to Dana when he begins to train her as his sub. When Dane fines out that she lied he fires her and she confess why she lied and that she is a virgin. Dane has been hurt in the past and turns out he comes from the same type of family but he was kicked out of the family along with his brother when he was sixteen. The man that took him and his brother in uncle Leo is died. Dane gets Cortland off of Bellamy's back so to speak by threatening to hurt his families business. I really liked Dane and I liked that he had a hard time not caring about Bellamy and her feelings. I also liked that Dane was willing to help Waverly Bellamy's sister when her father tries to marry her off because she is sneaking around with Jensen one of the sister-wives oldest son who has come to live with them. This was my first time reading this author's work this book was really well written with no errors in spelling or grammar. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. Waverly and Jensen
Arrogant and demanding mixed with equal parts of softness make Dane the perfect Dom. His love for Bellamy showed through even when he was trying to be cold and indifferent toward her. These two complimented each other very well
This book is a romance novel that explores the theme of unconventional love and the pursuit of freedom against societal expectations.
I listened to this book on Audible. I enjoyed this book. I was invested in the story from the beginning. I liked the characters. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
This was a emotional and thought provoking story. I enjoyed reading Dane and Bellamy’s story. At first meet, everything Bellamy led Dane to believe was a lie but she had a good reason to do so. Their meeting was a fluke—she landed in a bar after her job interview went bust—after the interview was her chance to get away from her poly family who were trying to sell her off to this boy she thought w as normal but was crazier than her father. She meets Dane in the bar she lands in and their meeting seems like fate . He offers her a job based on a lie she told but, poor girl ,she didn’t realize that the lie she told would have such deeper , dirtier meanings. Dane, such a proper, dirty DOM. He is full of himself and makes it clear to Bellamy that there will be nothing between them EVER yet he does things to say the opposite of his words. He comes off as cold and unfeeling –yet there is something in his past that has made him this way and I hurt for him. Yes he is a prick when he acts this way and I hurt for Bellamy when he acts so nasty to her when he does this because they ARE falling in love. As the story progresses, they are falling in love and he is doing things which show them falling into a relationship but when Bell’s family causes her to almost lose her job, she has to come clean to Dane. That is when things become real and honest between them. Emotions become real high and we learn more Dane’s back story. I do not want to go into more –spoilers and such. You really NEED TO read this story. Their love story is real and true, and it is fantastic. At times it is brutal and sad; I cried and hoped for them to find their way to each other. All I can say is , OMG and this is such a great story. The ending of the story is beautiful and I hope that Dane’s brother gets his own book.
I jumped into this right after reading the first book in the series. As in the first, the heroine is a somewhat inexperienced, sheltered young lady brought up in a sister wives style family. The male lead is worldly, hawt, and sexually experienced enough to know exactly what he wants.
He hires her to be a hybrid employee - real work as well as very specific additional tasks (ahem). We'll be polite and not call it prostitution, but she is a very indulged, kept woman as long as she goes along with his terms.
Without spoilers, it's a well crafted tale that heals both of the main leads, as well as bringing in characters from the first book and merging some of the story. Hot sex scenes and strong character development, she's becoming one of my new favorite authors.
While reading this, it felt that the anti-religion-based-poly vibe was pretty strong, as it was with the first book. I'd like to see the author's take on a steamy romance based on that lifestyle for balance. While other reviewers commented that they felt she was anti-religion, I read it as more specifically against that particular viewpoint which can be controlling and manipulative in the wrong hands.
I love Bellamy in the 1st and was looking forward to her story. She was a strong character in the first book even though it focused on Waverly. I was waiting for her to blow up at the father and all the wives, but she held it together and in the end she more than she could ever hoped for.
Dane and Bellamy had such great chemistry from the start and I was happy the stuck with her and in the end the helped and their love became so much more between them. I loved how this story ended!
It was exciting at first... it was interesting but...it wasn't what I wanted it to be or what I thought it would be. The story was okay but I was hoping for more drama or a different kind of drama.
I didn't get that attached to the characters, their love confession, wasn't a love confession at all.
I read this some time ago. It was forgettable enough that I have no idea when it was. This seems like many of the 50 Shades offshoots that have come out in the past few years, only with a twist of characters with FLDS/polygamist backgrounds. Somewhat interesting, but not captivating enough to make me want to go out and buy the rest of the series.
I wanted Bellamy's story from the beginning. There was something about her that made me want to know more. Reading about her and Dane gave me exactly what I wanted. Loved their chemistry and the journey they took from start to finish. Great story!
This one was better overall, the ending was a lot better- not as rushed at the end… I think book 1 and 2 could’ve been swapped over? Maybe then then ending to book one wouldn’t have been so rushed and choppy? Either way I’m enjoying the series. Just wish there was a bit more finesse on the endings
Arrogant Master by Winter Renshaw Purchased: Kindle - $.99 [Gifted form author in exchange for honest review] My Rating: 4 of 5 Stars
Spoilers!
What's it all about: Bellamy has lived in her AUB lifestyle for too long. She knows that he father would never allow her or her sister to leave, so what must she do? Bellamy finds a jobs, one that her father will only allow her to have until she is married, but now with an unexpected job thrust at her, and a man back at home Bellamy has to lead a double life. One thing is for sure, Bellamy has he hands full with her new boss, and Master, Dane Townsend. Bellamy may not know exactly what she has gotten herself into sexually, but one thing that Bellamy knows how to is, is be sweet. This story is an extension of Arrogant Bastard and the background of how Bellamy and Dane came to be.
The Best Parts: When I heard that this book was finally coming out I freaked. I needed it in my hands. Had to have it, and now Iv’e read it and just need more. The writing style of Renshaw is flawless and makes you crave for more. There is a perfect balance of character interaction and then thought process form the characters as well. This makes us understand why the characters are doing what they are doing. It makes you fall in love. The dynamic of the BDSM in this novel was a little different though. Normally when I go into a BDSM novel I prepare myself for what I know is to come, but this one was a little more subtle. There are points where you are just like yea! And others where you want there to be a little more. Dane is a Master who expects a certain thing from his Subs, but with Bellamy he seems so soft. It just seemed a little off at times, but the fact that Bellamy does break through to him and you seem him unravel, especially when he makes her confess her darkest desire, omg perfection! That scene just said what the whole book has trying to say. I got chills.
The Worst Parts: The ending seemed a little rushed. That is about the worst thing I have to say about this book. If you read the first book you knew when coming into this just how it would end, but I wanted more, not just a summation of what I already knew happened. I was thankful for the Epilogue, but even that was so short. I’m glad to know that there will be a third novel, but it doesn’t further this story, but focuses on Dane’s brother. I wanted more on how Waverly was doing with Jensen, or just how Bellamy and Dane expressed their love to each other and how he proposed and where they are going form here. I just needed more!
Final Thoughts: Buy this book. Buy it now. The first novel Arrogant Bastard is just as good as this one, so buy both. I stayed up until 2 am last night trying to finish this book before I fell asleep then finally woke up today and didn’t do anything until I finished it. It was a slow start for me since I had so much other things going on but my goodness I don’t know why I waited to finish it!
***ARC received in exchange for an honest review***
I was given an ARC for an honest review for Arrogant Master by Winter Renshaw. The book is not for everyone it contains some religious content and hot sex that might not be for every one, but it definitely ended up being for me. This book was written well and I'm glad I read it. When I first started to read it, I didn't think I would like it, but once I got into the book I realized it wasn't a book just about a man controlling a women, it was a story of love and one learning how to heal from a past of abuse. As the name states, Dane is an Arrogant Master, but its nice to see that Bellamy brings him around. Bellamy thinks she is an angel that lost her wings, well I just think she is an angel that has spread her wings. She gives up herself to help her little sister get away for a better life, no way is that person not an angel. Winter once again wrote another fantastic book. Winter seems to write a book that just draws you in and you can not put the book down. The book touches on a very sensitive issue involving religion, this book is not for someone that can not get past the under tones of a cult, cause in my eyes that is exactly what Bellamy was trying to break free from and trying to get her sister away from it as well. I recommend that you read Arrogant Bastard first to understand a little more of the story and the life that Bellamy is trying to break free from, its not a requirement, but you will understand Arrogant Master a little more. Besides its a Winter Renshaw book and she is a freaking fantastic writer. I look forward to more books from Winter and I'm glad she is going to continue stories about some of the others from this book. I hope the next book will have some updates as to what is going on with Bellamy, Dane, Jensen and Waverley. Another 5 star book by Winter Renshaw and I will be getting the next and anything else she writes. Thanks for the opportunity to read and review your book Winter.
5 Giggling-&-Flustered-Stars! ☆☆☆☆☆ I loved this book! Winter Renshaw has done it again! Another great, sexy story that captivated me from the beginning.
Bellamy was super cute and sweet. I like how in the beginning she was against submission to any degree and by the time her relationship with dane escalated she grew warmer to the idea. How she got the job working for Dane was an interesting take on a classic story. :)
“Her clear eyes search mine though I’m not sure for what. If she’s looking for my approval, I’m not sure what more I can do besides press her against my hard c#%k. That’s my endorsement right there. “And you’re going to look even more amazing on all fours sucking my c#%k while I take my conference call this morning.”
I loved Dane (super sexy alpha male) and how the two met in the bar. His arrogance was hot and commanding. Not only was Bellamy's mouth open, mine was too. Dark hair, blue eyes, sexy body and a dominating personality...what more can you ask for?
“Bellamy has no idea what she’s agreed to. She’s perfectly at ease around me. Confident. Buoyant and much too self-assured in the presence of a man who’d break her in ways she’d never imagine. We’ll need to fix that soon.”
The scene where Dane argues with Cortland in Bellamy's honor had my jaw on the floor! He saves Bellamy over and over again like her knight in shinning armor.
Convo between Dane & Cortland: “I’m not going to be broken up with by some arrogant asshole in a three-piece suit who walks around like he’s better than everyone.” “I am better than everyone.” I flash a wolfish grin. “That’s the kicker. I’m better than you. I’m better than 99.9% of the men out there. And that’s what makes me better appointed for someone like Bellamy. She deserves a real man. Not some idiot flinging threats like a monkey throwing feces in his cage.” -Hahahahaaa!
Perfect beginning, perfect story & a perfect HEA ending makes for an awesome book that i highly recommend to everyone. If you don't love this book, we cant be friends... ;P
Winter Renshaw has you chomping at the bit from page 1 and you won't put Arrogant Bastard down until you finish.
Bellamy innocent and sheltered growing up in a AUB household only wants to be free, Bellamy doesn't to be like her family, doesn’t believe in her father ways, wanting to be free to choose and live the life she wants.
Dane Townsend has everything, he is sexy and powerful, all he wants is a Submissive who will submit to him in every way but doesn't want strings attached, he doesn't do love or the romance thing. After being stung years before he definitely doesn't do relationships.
When these two meet you can feel the chemistry, Bellamy doesn't realise what she is getting to to when her little white lies convince Dane to make her his concierge. Both deny that they are forming a bond, Bellamy takes the Job to start a new life, Dane take her on to be is sub.
You will see the changes to both through out the book, you will see Dane fall in love with her but deny it, hold back in fear of being hurt, you will watch Bellamy wanting to do everything to please him,so that they can stay together for she truly needs and wants him, you will fall in love and hope for a happy ever after, both do love each other and both help each other to be honest and open, even if it is just sex to start off with.
I found myself laughing a lot of time in the beginning because of Bellamy’s, innocence and how Dane thinks she is green and has to train her. The little lies along the way had me shaking my head, but I loved it, Winter had you wanting more, had you crying, laughing and wondering what was going to happen next.
I gave this book 5 stars and can't wait to she want Winter has installed for us next.
Ok, so I read the first book in this series and I absolutely loved it. This is the second installment in the series, but it can also be read as a stand alone. This story follows Bellamy and her journey to be free from her overly religious, polygamous family. I was extremely excited to get my hands on this book since I loved the first, and I just needed to know Bellamy's story. After reading the book, I have to say that I wasn't exactly sure what to feel immediately. I was left wanting more, but ok overall with how it ended. I guess I wanted more from Dane. Maybe that was were I was feeling bereft, although I'm not entirely sure. Please don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the book. I guess it was just hard for me to understand how they formed a lasting relationship when Dane was so closed off. It did skim a lot of their relationship. I felt like most of it was centered on sex for Dane, but that was what he expected from Bellamy. Exactly when it became more for Dane, I couldn't really pinpoint. Bellamy on the other hand was really easy to both like and understand. She was focused on one goal, and she was determined to see it through, even if it was at the expense of her feelings and well being. There were times I just hurt for her both with the way her family treated her (really how they treated all the girls) and with the Dane treated her. All she wanted was to feel like someone knew her self-worth, but she just couldn't find anyone who treated her like a person with on opinion. Although as a reader you knew what Dane was thinking, Bellamy didn't. I just wanted to hug her and tell her that it would all get better. In the end, I'm glad that it all worked out for both Bellamy and Dane. It was beautiful to see 2 severely damaged souls find each other and heal each other.
Bellamy is from a very religious polygamous family, desperate to escape and live a normal life. She meets a handsome businessman, Dane, in a bar, and due to a lie she tells, she ends up taking a job as Dane’s ‘concierge’ – even though she’s not really sure what that role entails because the money is too good to give up, and she needs money so she can escape her family.
Dane is a dom who has been looking for a new sub. The minute he sees Bellamy, he is attracted by her innocence and beauty, and makes her an offer she can’t resist.
Bellamy has been fighting hard to avoid being in an oppressive relation – she refuses to submit to any man. However, Dane brings out something in her that she can’t deny.
The story follows the evolution of Dane and Bellamy’s relationship from dom/sub into something more. Dane has been burnt in the past and refuses to have a relationship where feelings are engaged, but Bellamy complete tests his resolve. Bellamy herself navigates the minefield of her family’s religious beliefs and pulls against the constraints of a strict upbringing and a dominating father.
I liked Bellamy’s feistiness and her efforts to do what she must for the new life that she wants. I felt that this was a lighter read than the previous novel about Bellamy’s sister, Waverley, and I would have enjoyed a deeper exploration of the characters’ feelings and the emotional and psychological change that Dane goes through. However, overall, it was still an enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to the next novel in this series.
Winter Renshaw is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. I wish that they allowed 1/2 stars, because this would definitely be a 4 1/2 star book. Arrogant Master is the story of Dane Townsend, the cold and arrogant billionaire CEO of an alternative energy company, and Bellamy Miller, the oldest daughter of a polygamist in Utah.
Bellamy is trying to get out of the FDLS lifestyle to which her family expects her to continue. After all, her younger siblings are all watching her example. Bellamy has graduated college and has discovered the need for independence. Her family plans to marry her off and she plays along with it until she can't take it anymore. She applies for a job with another company but misses her interview. In a moment of weakness, she wanders into a bar and orders a drink. Dane walks in and meets her. When they get to talking, she leads him to believe that she will be the new "concierge" for a rival of his. Bellamy has no idea what a concierge really means and when Dane offers her the same position with him for more money, she jumps at it.
Like all dark, brooding billionaires, Dane has his own secrets and when he eventually learns what Bellamy is trying to separate herself from, he steps in and pulls her out. He went through something similar and doesn't even want to think of another putting his hands on Bellamy, even if he won't allow himself to admit that he loves her.
Bellamy's innocence pulls Dane in and he was just as much hers from the day in the bar and she was his. It's a very touching story and I do recommend.
I liked this book. It was an interesting storyline and the characters intrigued me.
I needed more. More about Dane, not a few paragraphs of explanation and nothing more. Like, that is a very intricate backstory weaved with his childhood and then his ex, like super elaborate, but it's explained in a moment with absolutely no details. Those were not backstories that can be done with no details!
And here's the thing: this isn't the first book by this author that plays with BDSM but portrays it as a crutch. Something a broken hero needs to stay detached. Something a heroine agrees to do because the hero needs it, but she doesn't enjoy. So many times in this book Bellamy talks about how she doesn't want or doesn't see the need for her submission or their D/s play. She just does it to make the hero happy. That's.... Not what BDSM is. It's a choice for both partners, the submission is freeing for both the Dom AND the sub. It's not some unequal dynamic that the sub puts up with so she can be with the Dom, meanwhile she is living for the moments he will let her have a regular relationship. A Dom wouldn't want a sub who doesn't actually want to submit. She basically admits she is just acting when they play together.
I feel like it just got to a good and interesting part of their relationship and then BOOM epilogue. Um... We missed the romance part?
Anyways I didn't hate this book and I enjoy this author in how she tells a story. But I don't know if I can do any more if these fake BDSM plotlines.
This book was amazing!! Dane and Bellamy had amazing chemistry in the book. I couldn't put it down. I was surprised as to what all Dane had been through. First what his family did to him. Then the first women he ever loved. I fell out of my chair when I read that part. His ex was a real piece of work. I was so shocked I had to read it three times to make sure I was reading right. I mean really WTF!! I felt for Bellamy with her families pressures to be married and be a "first wife" and she ended having more in common with Dane than she thought. He acts like he isn't a knight in armor but he really is. What he did for Bellamy and her sister. I guess he just thought since he life sucked that he didn't have a heart but he has a huge one. There are a lot of super sexy sex scenes as well. It does have some BDSM stuff in it but not hard core not that I'm complaining I like kink in my books. I just wish Dane's POV was longer and more in-depth about his back story. It was just enough but could have been more. I would love to know where Winter got her inspiration from to write Arrogant Bastard and Arrogant Master. It really makes you think about what those kids go through from poly families. All and all this is a great book and your a silly fool if you don't read it. :) happy Reading
Arrogant Master was a smoking hot follow up to Arrogant Bastard. In this story we get to know more about Bellamy, the oldest Miller daughter and her relationship with her boss, Dane. Bellamy is from a religious poly family. And through a misunderstanding gets hired to be a personal "sub" to her boss. Dane is arrogant, sexy, caveman alpha type. As the story goes on Bellamy and Dane get close and start to have feelings for each other. Bellamy blossoms into woman hood while Dane exposes her to all these delicious and wonderful sexual experiences. I love that Bellamy was such a strong girl even though she came from such a backwards family. She's smart and she realizes her family doesn't hold her or her siblings best interests. As for Dane he has the heart of a lion. Once Bellamy helps peel the layers from Dane and he starts to open up, you see these two people may just have more in common that meets the eye. This book was fantastic and I can't wait to get the next installment.
"I might make you uncomfortable, or I might give you more pleasure than you've ever known. That part is up to you."
This is the second book in the story and tells Dane and Bellamy's story. We met Dane at the end of Arrogant Bastard. I was curious as to how Bellamy and Dane met. Dane hires Bellamy as his "concierge" aka sex toy and offers her an insane amount of money to do so. Bellamy plans to save enough money to get herself and Waverly away from her toxic family and she agrees to the job before she really understands what it will entail. She lies to Dane to get the job.
Dane seems like a hardass at first, but we do get glimpses of a little softness here and there. This book was different from many of the books I have read with D/s relationships because Bellamy didn't automatically love everything that Dane did to her. Most of the books the h doesn't want to love being dominated, but secretly does. Bellamy didn't appreciate being treated like a pet and she didn't love being bound. I liked seeing the progression of feelings for each other. There was no insta love or anything, but a pretty natural progression, even given the circumstances.
We find out some things about Dane's past that shed some light on things. I don't want to give spoilers, so I will just say...enjoy it.
Once again I can only say that Renshaw knows how to write. There's a lot to take in here, and she handles it well, for the most part.
The beginning of the story takes place shortly before the events in the previous book, and then the stories parallel each other. Unfortunately, I think the set-up in this book took too long, forcing the ending to be cut short.
It's this lack of explanation that bothered me the most. As well, Renshaw only skimmed the surface of his need to Dom. (Was it because of his childhood, or to keep women from getting too close?) And there didn't seem to be a moment where he truly realised how he felt about Bellamy. Plus, he kept insisting he couldn't be vanilla, but then they seemed to tumble into that quite easily.
But there is still something about the writing that has me up until 3am, turning pages and fighting to keep my burning eyes open. So I continue to read the backlist until the next book comes out.
