The Attributes of God

Rate this book
Misconceptions about God abound. But they don’t have to. God has revealed His character in Scripture, illuminating the attributes that define Him. While we, being finite creatures, can never truly comprehend everything that God is, we should study what He Himself has said.

In this 16-part teaching series, The Attributes of God, Ligonier teaching fellow Dr. Steven Lawson articulates a biblical understanding of divine attributes and explores how a right understanding of God can affect every aspect of our lives. Standard-definition DVD. Nineteen 30–minute messages, including Spanish navigation and dubbed equivalent.

Wow!! Excellent study on the different attributes of God from a Christian Reformed view.

Spurgeon once said, "There is something exceedingly improving to the mind in a contemplation of the Divinity. It is a subject so vast, that all our thoughts are lost in its immensity; so deep, that our pride is drowned in its infinity. Other subjects we can grapple with; in them, we feel a kind of self-content, and go our way with the thought, “Behold I am wise.” But when we come to this master science, finding that our plumbline cannot sound its depth and that our eagle eye cannot see its height, we turn away with the thought that vain man would be wise, but he is like a wild ass’s colt; and with solemn exclamation, 'I am but of yesterday, and know nothing.' No subject of contemplation will tend more to humble the mind, than thoughts of God...."

This is one of those series that has the potential to affect believers in such a way.

Sidenote: This was not a book but a series of lectures on the attributes of God from a Christian Reformed viewpoint. There is a paperback workbook available.

This is a series of sermons delivered by the author and he does an excellent job going over some of God's attributes.

Pretty dry and difficult to keep up with or connect to.

Amazing sermon series by Steven J. Lawson, exposing and teaching God's attributes and how these truths affect our lives as believers. I'd recommend continuing this study by reading other books, like AW Pink's The Attributes of God. A sermon series just wouldn't suffice!

This book was on Hoopla. It is a recording of messages on the attributes of God. I have read Pink's book on Attributes of God. This book did not have any new insights and it was a bit hard listening to the author (speaker) as he yelled a lot.
