Cindy Skaggs started gambling because she needed a quick financial turnaround for an investment opportunity, and her father was right there to pony up the bankroll. She learned valuable lessons that night in betting, bluffing, and folding, until she’d turned a dollar in nickels into some serious money: twelve dollars for a middle school yearbook.

Cindy grew up on stories of mob bosses, horse thieves, cold-blooded killers, and the last honest man. Most of those stories were even true. She has ten siblings, some of whom are older than her mother, has nieces and nephews older than her, and once went to a horse auction with John Wayne. Well, with him in the sense that he was there, and she was also... there. She was the munchkin in line for his autograph with tangled hair and bruised knees that liked to dance on her daddy’s dusty cowboy boots and listen to his tall tales.

With her love of storytelling and heroes, it’s no wonder she turned to books and stories after her father died. She skipped most of the eighth grade to bury herself in books while hidden in her closet, because she was still looking for the perfect story and the last honest man. Her search took her around the world with the Air Force as well as around the world with her education. She’s visited more countries than she can remember, nearly every state in the U.S., and has more degrees than the Tin Man.

As a single mom, she’s still gambling, betting on herself for the first time in her life, turning her lifelong love of storytelling into the one thing she can’t live without: writing. She writes 10,000 words a week in cafes and coffee shops, and some of those 10,000 words are even worth reading. She has an MA in Creative Writing, is working towards her Master of Fine Arts, and has three jobs, two kids, a Pushcart Nomination, more pets than she can possibly handle, and more works in progress than the crew filling potholes after a long Colorado winter.

Facebook is her guilty pleasure, the Twitterverse her happy place, and her blog the one place she’s not telling stories (fictional, anyway). This time around, she’s holding out for the last honest man. You can find her at www.CSkaggs.com

Free. Such a beautiful word.

Untouchable was just an okay read for me, I just couldn’t get into it as much as I wanted to. It had all the premise that I usually would jump all over; ex-mob wife trying to get her baby back with a sexy as sin undercover Fed. But I don't know something was missing, I was reading it and not living in it. Who knows, maybe I let my imagination get in the way either way it’s a total me versus the book. I recommend others give it a go, you never know it could be for you!

Sofia is the ex-wife of a mob boss. She left that life 2 years ago to save herself and her son. Leaving wasn't easy and the mob life is never far behind her. She's still followed by the Feds and the body guard her ex-husband hired. Logan is one of the feds that has been following her for the past two years. Logan has been attracted to Sofia since her first saw her and she captivates him. When Sofia's son is kidnapped, Logan will do whatever he can to help, even if it means going against everything he believes in.

I really enjoyed this story. This was a fast-paced, exciting, suspenseful romance. I love the chemistry between Logan and Sofia. Sofia was a really interesting character because she comes across as cold and an ice queen but she's strong and will do anything to protect her son. I loved this story, the twists and turns, the suspense, and it had me questioning everything and everyone not knowing who Sofia could trust. I really enjoyed this one and can't wait to read more by this author and the next book in this series! Highly recommend!

I was drawn to Untouchable by the cover, I’m not going to lie. I love the look of it. It’s bold yet dark, intriguing but you can totally get an idea of what the book’s about. I was completely sold on the story by the cover. When I read the synopsis I knew I wanted to read Untouchable even more. I usually have a great time with books surrounding the Mob and everything attached to that. Untouchable was a great ride but sadly the romance fell short. I enjoyed the story immensely though. One of my friends said it was a “great action movie” and I definitely have to agree.

Sofia never wanted to be associated with organized crime but falling for the head of the mob was something beyond her control. After finding out how horrible a person her husband was, she got out, only to never really leave. After planning a way for her son and herself to finally be free, the unthinkable happens, her son is kidnapped. Scared and not knowing what to do, Sofia enlists the help of Logan, her FBI watcher who has more invested then he originally has let on.

The suspense in Untouchable was really good. And fun. I was on the edge of my seat more than once trying to figure out what was going on, who took Eli and why. I was dying trying to stay steps ahead of Sofia and Logan but sadly I think they got the drop on me more than once. The way Cindy Skaggs weaved words on the page gripped me from page one and didn’t let me go until the final word. I need more suspense like this in my life. Untouchable is a good example of why Romantic Suspense is one of my favorite subgenres of Romance.

I do wish the romance was more. It’s obvious there’s an attraction between Sofia and Logan but I don’t know if I really buy the chemistry between the two. They were thrown together in an unthinkable situation and were forced to work together but at every turn she was trying to undermine Logan. It just got to be too much at times. Now I can understand starting to have feelings for someone in situations like this. It’s like in another book a read where a character said that she fell for someone in a high risk situation because during that short amount of time you really get to know someone. You all run the gambit of emotions and it’s much easier to figure out if you like that person or not. I think Logan and Sofia definitely went through this and I was okay with their feelings for each other except for them they proclaimed love. He may have been watching her for a couple of years but they only truly interacted over three days and that’s just not enough for me to buy a solid romance. I truly think they care for each other but I think they have a long way to go before actual love fits into the equation that is Sofia and Logan.

All in all, Untouchable was a solid read for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and suspense. The romance left a little to be desired, to me, but I think many people will love it.

Sigh ...

This book sounded so good. It sounded dark and gritty because of the mob angle, it had FBI agents, and is from a romance publisher I love. Sadly, this book really missed the mark for me, though.

I enjoyed the first 40% of Untouchable, especially the start. It hooked me straight away and because of the angles mentioned above I was excited to see how things progressed and intrigued to know who was behind everything. I believed in the danger, and that there was a threat from Nick. He had the potential to be a ruthless boss.

Unfortunately from that point on though I lost interest until I was barely skimming the end just to find out who was behind everything. The problem was there wasn't enough interaction for me. There were a lot of inner thoughts and repetition--especially on Sofia's side of things--and I felt it made the writing very dry to read. The pace was too slow, dragging out the couple of days it's set over to extreme lengths.

Similarly the time limit was way to short for 'I love yous' to arrive. Sofia went from distrust, to trust, to falling, to love all in the space of two days, admitting it after a few weeks. I don't buy how someone so paranoid and distrusting would change so drastically in such a short period of time even after going through what they had together.

Logan was also a bit underdeveloped. There wasn't enough colour in his character for me and I didn't connect with him at all. I didn't feel the chemistry.

Overall this started off okay but soon went downhill. It had an interesting premise but lacked in execution. It was okay, but I've read a lot better mafia based books.

This is the author's first book. It's also the first in a series.

I was drawn right into the suspense when Sofia's son was kidnapped and her house was blown up. The suspense/mystery/thriller aspect of the book were enough to keep me on edge.

Logan was a great character and I thoroughly enjoyed his "by-the-book" mentality...while he also kept the context in mind. He was going to save that child, no matter what it took. He was strong, sexy, and a really good man.

Again, I was kept reading as the suspense built. My issues were with small things, but they just kept adding up. How old was Eli? He fed Sophia a sucked on cracker...he babbled...he rode with a man on a galloping horse! And then all he could talk about was "horse camp". His age appeared to change with the scene.

Also, small things weren't shown or told to us. At a pivotal scene, Sofia is commanded to go to a church. How did she get this command? The bad guys didn't have her number, she only had a burner phone! Maybe it was the bat signal. Anyway, there were lots of little things that just didn't add up, and that brought my rating down quite a bit.

BUT...again, the suspense kept me reading and I can see this author as one that I would read again as she brings out new books. As long as you can suspend disbelief over plot issues, you will enjoy this suspenseful romance. I look forward to more from Ms. Skaggs.

This suspense thriller is well written with plenty of twists, turns and surprises ensuring the reader is never quite certain who to trust and has the added interest of a potential romance. The plot is brilliantly intricate and I really love the cover, too. The intrigue and misdirection leave you wondering just how Sofia, Logan and Eli can safely escape the ruthless Mobsters, let alone have a chance at a happy ever after together.

At College, young, innocent and naive Sofia met and fell in love with her best friend’s brother. Unfortunately he turned out to be a narcissistic psychopath and head of a mafia style family. She learnt the hard way about him and his lifestyle. Even though she has managed to escape from the situation and, with her young son Eli, has been living trying to keep him safe she knows that she is under constant surveillance from both the FBI and members of his father’s ‘gang’. As the ex-wife of such a notorious criminal mastermind, Sofia is untouchable but when her son is kidnapped, taken by the person supposed to be guarding him, she’ll do anything to get him safely back.

Logan Stone is an upstanding, forthright FBI agent who has been watching Sofia for two years now, ever since she left her husband. He’s never been one to bend, let alone break, the rules but when he learns about Eli’s kidnapping it rekindles too many memories of a child he lost in similar circumstances. This makes him desperate to atone by rescuing Eli. The fact that he and Sofia are attracted may prove to be a problem, especially when they are both implicated in the abduction by the child’s father. Endeavouring to escape from the attentions of both the FBI and the Mob, probably having less than 72 hours to rescue Eli, time is running out for them to rescue Eli and to clear their names! You'll have to read it yourself to find out what happens!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley too,

The blurb of this book was what got me interested, especially the whole mob angle and had me wondering how two people from opposites sides of the law would handle the fireworks between them.

Sofia Capri is the ex-wife of a mob boss who somehow managed to get herself out of her marriage and also get full custody of her son, something that rarely happens in such circles. The only thing is she's now stuck between worlds, a pariah in the mob world but unable to find her place outside it, under constant surveillance by both the mob and the Feds; she is completely isolated, with no family, friends or confidants. All she has is her son, Eli. This has been her life for the last two years but she knows that her ex-husband is only bidding his time until he makes a move and she's got plans in place to secure her safety and that of her son when he gets kidnapped. Now she will do anything, bend the law and in fact break it to make sure that her son is safe.

FBI agent Logan Stone has been assigned to watch Sofia for the last two years and inadvertently gets his cover blown when Sofia's son is kidnapped. Eli's kidnapping stirs up painful memories of another little boy that he was not able to rescue and he is determined to see that Eli gets back home safely, even if it means he has to bend the very laws he has sworn to uphold.

Sofia has lived through hell and become very adept at subterfuge, always on guard, always prepared but this is beyond her abilities and she reluctantly accepts Logan's help. This is where it gets really interesting because while Logan is upstanding and willing to follow the law, Sofia knows that the people they are up against have no such limitations. They soon find themselves embroiled in a mob turf war, with Eli as the bargaining chip. The question becomes how far is Logan willing to bend to help Sofia and how will he react to her moral flexibility as they rush to find Eli?

The suspense and mystery were very well written and I absolutely enjoyed UNTOUCHABLE. Sofia's fear for her son and her overwhelming love for him are so obvious that it's easy to understand her actions, even the questionable ones and her less-than smart decisions. Logan is selfless and determined and a very clear example of how easy it can be for even the most law-abiding and morally upright person to become flexible in life-and-death situations.

Romantic suspense is my favorite genre and most times I get so sucked in by the action that I can overlook things that don't add up. As much as I enjoyed reading UNTOUCHABLE, there were a few issues and inconsistencies that stood out, but not so much that they affected my enjoyment of the book. For a newbie author, Ms. Skaggs did well and I look forward to more books in this series.

Free is a beautiful feeling and something that everyone should have.

This story was a thrilling suspense, some action and of course attraction between two people that have to survive and find a little boy that was taken from his mother. This is the first book for Ms. Skaggs and in my opinion it kept me engrossed from beginning to end.

Sophia Capri was a woman that had lived through hell and she was ready to run but just when she had the perfect plan something goes wrong. When she is ready to get her little boy, Eli, she notices that he has been taken and his bodyguard is also gone. She knows that her ex-husband is the person that took him but when she calls him and he denies it she doesn’t know what to think. When Logan Stone was approached by the person he was following and now he was going to help her find her son. The moment that they ended up at her home and the explosion happened he knew that he was a wanted man, the FBI would be looking for him. Sophia knew that Nick, her ex-husband, would not leave her alone and he didn’t. He ended up finding them and she knew at that he didn’t have their son, someone else did. When Sophia found out something about the one person that helped her escape her ex-husband she couldn’t believe it. They ended up going to her home but something happens and once again they are not any closer in finding out who took Eli. All it took was one encounter with another person that helped her to figure out what was going on but things go majorly wrong and once again Sophia is in danger. Logan knows what he needs to do and he has knows where Eli is at but just when things could be over Sophia doesn’t trust Logan.

Untouchable was an interesting read that I enjoyed. The characters were well developed. The pace of this story was perfect. I knew that these two characters had a sizzling chemistry but they had a bigger problem and that was finding her little boy. So did I miss all the love scenes and the lovey dovey heck no the suspense it was I loved. I loved being at the edge of my seat to see who had the little boy, I wanted to know what Sophia’s story was. I was able to get to know a little bit about Logan and knew that he was falling in love with Sophia. The only problem was that Sophia had trust issues but she was also falling in love and soon she would follow her heart.

I do wonder if there will be a story between the bodyguard and the mob sister.

I totally recommend this read!! Don’t miss the twists and turns that this story had it will keep you second guessing to who has Sophia’s back.

Untouchable is the first in the Untouchables series and the debut release from Cindy Skaggs. Brimming with enough intrigue to trigger the conspiracy theorist in me and simmering with pent-up attraction and lust between lead characters Sofia Capri and Logan Stone, this was a suspense thriller that had me turning each page trying to figure out who was actual pulling the strings in the story. Having the ex-wife of a mob boss with no allegiance to either side of the law and an FBI agent assigned to her and currently on administrative leave as main characters makes for an interesting and creative touch, especially since there were times I wondered if a protagonist was actually an antagonist and vice-versa. It kept me on my toes.

There were certainly a few unexpected surprises in the story and I'm a fan of stuff like that because knowing what's going to happen next takes the thrill out of a book in this genre. It was difficult to get a read on most of the characters, with Logan being the only exception, and I'm thinking this had to with the fact that they were all involved, in one way or another, with the mob. I found myself thinking one thing about a particular character and then changing my mind later on only to be thrown for a loop again by some new revelation. Like I said, this book kept me on my proverbial toes and it was one of the things I liked best about it. It never lacked for mystery or suspense, making you eagerly anticipate what was next.

This is a first in a series and I'm curious as to what the rest of the series will hold, especially since the ending left things unresolved within the Calvetti family enterprise. I'm thinking the second book may be about Vicki Calvetti, Sofia's former sister-in-law and best friend, which leads me to wonder about her boyfriend Vince (last name not included) and if he would be in the assumed sequel. My hope is, whoever may end up in the next book, the female lead character is as complex and intriguing as Sofia Capri. The woman was a survivor and was willing to do anything and everything to protect her son, even if that meant blurring the lines between right and wrong. Nicely done, Cindy Skaggs! Untouchable gets 4.5 stars, rounded off to five stars. ♥

I was not familiar with this author when I chose this book. I really chose it more for the publisher, Entangled, since I tend to enjoy the books I get from them. Their Ignite label has a bit of a darker edge where the lines between good and bad blur just enough to make things interesting. This story was no different. Sofia has barely escaped the mob life she unwittingly married into and been given an unheard of divorce. Though she and her young son live alone now, they still are not free. Her ex has bodyguards and others watching her every move. Law enforcement also has eyes on her constantly due to suspicions that she remains connected to the mob. In short, Sofia lives under a microscope fearing her home is bugged and her belongings infiltrated with trackers. She has no peace. When her plan to escape with her son backfires, she inadvertently makes contact with Logan, an FBI agent undercover spying on her. Fearing she cannot go through with her plan, she ditches Logan and rushed to pick up her son only to find he is missing. Making a split second decision, Logan decides to follow Sofia and coerce her into letting him help her with her troubles. From that point on, he is sucked into the danger and illegalities of Sofia's world. Sofia doesn't want Logan's help, doesn't want him to get hurt, but will stop at nothing to save her son. The hunt for Sofia's son, Eli, takes the two into several dangerous situations but also has them warming up to each other. Unfortunately, Sofia's ex is determined to keep her an untouchable unless Logan is willing to take the one step that will free her and her son forever.

I enjoyed the story and how Sofia, the "ice queen" stated opening up to Logan. Sofia was strong yet vulnerable at the same time. She didn't let her fears stop her from making some bold decisions, but tended to be so distrustful that she never had help when she needed it. Thankfully, Logan was able to anticipate many of her decisions and help her despite all of her secrets and the risks to his future.

(This review is based on ARC e-book generously provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion.)

As an avid mafia romance reader, I am always excited to have the opportunity to review a book from this genre via NetGalley. Debut author, Cindy Skaggs did not disappoint. From her classy book cover to the intriguing book synopsis, she had me hooked right from the start. In Chapter One, you could literally feel the cool, collected, calculated yet desperate demeanor/actions of our determined strong heroine, Sophia Capri, as she attempted to secure the life and safety of her four year old son, Eli, the only way she could think of….take him and R-U-N!

As the former wife of the devil incarnate mobster, Nick Capri, she was always being watched, not only by the Mafioso but legal authorities, as well. More specifically, the past two years by FBI Agent Logan Stone. Despite careful planning and the help of some unlikely allies, her plan is thwarted when Eli is kidnapped moments before she tries to make their escape. The rest of the story is filled with twists and turns as Agent Stone is forced to throw his rule book out the window and put his heart and badge on the line in order to protect Sophia and find her missing son.

One of my favorite aspects of the book was how Sophia prepared herself mentally and physically by taking self-defense, weapons training, and physical fitness training in anticipation of having to outrun her enemies. However, despite her desperation she was unwilling to put others at risk, especially Logan. At times, she did things to deliberately push him away to keep him safe. The scene where she pulled a gun on him was epic! Fortunately for her, he did not listen.

No details regarding Book 2 are available yet. My guess is it will be focused on Vinnie and Nick’s sister.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley from Entangled Publishing for an honest review. I believe this is the author's first published book and it's an impressive beginning to her career as a writer. The story is well written, fast paced and full of action. There are several twists and turns and you're never sure who you should trust.

It's made clear Sofia is a smart and savvy woman who is prepared for the realities of the mob world she's living. Never the less, she makes a few contradictory choices, but one I kept rereading was how she didn't realize Logan was with the FBI. I may have been confused with the opening gym scene and her years of observation of others, but I made an assumption she knew who was following her (FBI or mob). I never really warmed up to Sofia, which is ironic in a way because she's nicknamed the Ice Queen. Eventually we do see her vulnerabilities, but it was far enough along in the book that my impression of her was already made, similar to her misjudging who Logan was.

Again, I'm blown away by how well this book was written and paced for a first book (I'm 99% sure it's her first). It looks like from her website a second story from this world is in process so I'm anxious to read more from Ms. Skaggs.

This is a novel that will really fill the cup of tea for suspense and danger in it. This author will also give you a dash of romance with it just enough to get the blood flowing but not too much to overshadow the story. Even though there is plenty of attraction and chemistry there is more that needs to happen and that is getting a little boy back alive. Interesting is what this author gives you as the character Sofia has learned to stay alive and keep it so as they search. Her life has not been a easy one but being involved with a character such as her ex is why she traveled that road. Logan will be the white knight FBI guy who will aid her doing things that he never though he would. Actually would say he is finally come alive and has something worth fighting for if they all make it that is. The levels of danger and suspense are on the right scale with cat and mouse strategy at times. Her facade of being cold is perfect front for what really lies beneath. Did not take long at all to read and carried me right along. The author gives it a perfect solution at the end one I would not have really expected and love triumphs once more.

First off, I absolutely LOVE the cover! I often don't pick up romance novels because of the cheesy shirtless man wrapped around the scantily clad woman. This image intrigued me and definitely worked for me, the sometimes judge-a-book-by-its-cover reader.

Secondly, the story was quite entertaining. Explosions, disguises, gun fights...I loved the action of it all. It was like an action movie or episode of a show one might see on television today. I bet my husband would even watch it with me if it were. ;)

As a mom to a toddler, I immediately connected with the author's description of Sofia's son in the first chapter. It was incredibly endearing and really showed her devotion as a mom, considering the main premise of the story is that she would do anything to get her son back.

I would highly recommend this book as a quick, entertaining read with plenty of action and a heaping portion of steamy romance.

A fast paced romantic suspense story that was completely intriguing. Very well written with great characters and story line. Twists and turns in the story keep you reading well into the night!

Sofia is the ex-wife of a mob boss (can that really happen?) but she knows she will never really be rid of her ex. All she wants to do is raise her son but being followed constantly by the FBI and a bodyguard her ex insists on make that difficult. When her son is kidnapped she is desperate to find him and finds herself relying on FBI agent Logan Stone. Logan has been trailing Sofia for some time and finds himself unwisely drawn to her. When her son goes missing what else can he do but help her??

I highly recommend this one!

Forewarning - The author is a friend so I am completely biased. That said, this book was so much fun!
After naively marrying into the mob, Sofia manages to divorce her crime boss ex. But there is no escaping the family. So when her son is kidnapped, she thinks she knows just who to blame. Of course things are more complicated than she realizes and the cute Fed she accidentally involves refuses to let her find her son on her own.
The story moved along at a great pace, the characters and their motivations were believable, and the love story wasn't a distraction from the action of the main plotline.
This isn't my first choice of genre and I might not have picked up this book if I didn't know the author but, honestly, I couldn't put it down!

This book was a good read. I was drawn in by the cover and the blurb sounded intriguing with the whole mob scene. This was a new author for me to read and try out. Untouchable is filled with and action and the story was well written and very little romance in it but overall it was good. There were a lot of twist and turns in Untouchable that would leave you breathless and craving more until the very end.

Sofia was once married to a mob boss. She also has a son that she had with her ex. They both live together and she is being followed by the FBI and her ex's bodyguards follow her around. Sofia becomes desperate when her son is kidnapped she will do anything to get her son back.

An Outstanding Debut!

This was an exciting, fast-paced story about Sofia, the ex-wife of a mob boss, and Logan, the play-by-the-rules FBI Agent. When Sofia's son is kidnapped, Logan takes it upon himself to protect her and get her boy back, a task which is more important to him than Sofia initially understands.

The plot has just enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing as to who the real bad guy is and who can be trusted among the cast of questionable characters. The connection between Logan and Sofia heats up nicely along the way! The writing is excellent, making it hard to believe this is a first novel. I'm looking forward to the next installment in the series, and for more from Cindy Skaggs.

What an intense heart racing book from start to finish! My heart felt so heavy while reading this one, not even imagining going through a kidnapping. I felt so much for Sofia. It was unreal all she went through, the fear, the pain, the not knowing, and it seeming like everyone was against you. Goodness what a heart attack.

This was my first read by this author. And this book definitely packed a punch. The connection forged between Sofia and Logan was intense and immediate after being thrown into the crazy situation. Emotions ran high. This was just a very impactful read for me.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher.

This has action, suspense, mob bosses and really hot romance all rolled into one book. It sounded like a good book from the beginning but mid way thru the book it begins to tire and it lose steam. But the ending was good.
Sofia Capri left the mob about 2 years ago to save herself and her little boy. She was given a divorce which is totally, completely unreal and unknown to happen when” in the mob”. She knew her ex-husband was no good and was going to get them all killed or drag them all down and get them harmed while he climbed up the mob boss chain. She is continually followed and harassed by the Feds and the “bodyguard” her ex has paid to keep tabs on her. Sofia’s home is bugged; her life is life living under a looking glass with people always monitoring her every move- that is the Feds and the mob. Finally Sofia has had enough and decides to secretly break away and make a run for it. Her plans are found out and her son is kidnapped. Sofia has no choice but to go to Logan Stone, the undercover FBI guy who have been keeping watch on her and beg for his help. He ends up helping her and the majority of the book shows how they fought the mob to get her son back and their rising attraction and how they got her son back. Sofia at times pushed Nick away when he was trying to get closer –it wasn’t that she didn’t want him close, it was the fear of letting him get too close and the Mob would kill him and she would lose someone she had come to love. I think another fear she had that he was using her to get to her ex-husband mobster Nick Capri and his mob buddies. All she wanted was her little boy back.

Overall, this started out great, the middle was somewhat ok and toward the end and ending fantastic! I did like the MC and I understand there is a book 2 on the way so yes, I would be willing to read book 2. Sofia had a fire in her that was wonderful to see and yes, she came off a cold as ice but inside she had this fire inside to get to her son. Logan was the ALPHA male, Mister by the Rule book but Sofia asked him to help her and not tell the FBI, he threw the rules aside and dogged the FBI for once. Wow! Loved it and cannot wait to see what happens in book 2. I do hope we can revisit Sofia and Logan in book2 to see how they are doing.

My rating: 4.0 stars ****

Sofia Capri's plan will require the help of a virtual stranger. Though Logan Stone's been watching Sofia for months and is intrigued, he is a stranger. He was surprised when out of the blue Sofia asked him for coffee between exercise classes. He's bewildered when things take a downturn and determined to help her resolve things. Navigating her shadowy world gives Logan view he didn't think he'd have.

Sofia's marriage and divorce were the things nightmares are based on but the dream that came from it was her 4 year old son, Eli. Getting Eli and herself safely away from her ex, Nick, is even more challenging than Sofia thought. After Sofia fumbles her initial escape plan and Nick muddles the second by kidnapping Eli.

Determined to get Eli back, Sofia and Logan begins to sift through clues and they barely escape with their lives when her car and home are tampered with. Multiple red herrings made it hard to guess Eli's kidnapper, it was quickly made crystal clear Logan wasn't the run of the mill alpha. Logan flexed without being an overbearing protector for Sofia's savvy, driven heroine as they bent the law and kept on mission.

For this readers taste their complicated romance felt a bit rushed for Sofia and Logan's characters and there was a leap or two but neither detracted from the read. Nick and Vicki were good as siblings entrenched on opposite sides in Sofia's life. The rapidly paced action and multiple plot twists kept the read interesting. However, Eli seemed to be the 'accessory' in many scenes

While this reader didn't have a hard time finding positives about the tale from this first time author, I did have difficulty with Sofia and didn't want to accept her character or the actions she took, though not enough to skip or reject the read. Overall it was a worthwhile relaxing afternoon read.

2.5*

While at the gym, Sofia ‘s son is kidnapped and she automatically suspects Nicky, her crime boss ex-husband. Her car is vandalized and she accepts a ride from Logan, another gym member and who is employed with the FBI. When she gets home, there is an explosion and Logan decides Sofia is in a dangerous situation and insists on helping her. Together, they race against the clock to find Sofia’s son, all the while finding out that not everyone is who they appear.

Sofia is a strong character. I think she definitely outshines Logan in the alpha category. She’s Batman and he’s Robin, although their relationship seemed a bit more formal then the comic characters. She calls him either “Mr. Stone” or “Agent Stone” throughout a lot of the book. I didn’t feel a lot of heat between them either, it simmered rather than boiled.

There were some scenes that didn’t make sense to me, either. For example, Sofia finds out that her best friend, Vicki, may in fact be an enemy. She and Logan go to Vicki’s house to question her knowledge on the kidnapping (most of the conversation, we don’t even get to hear – strange, since this seems like a pretty important scene), and Sofia falls asleep on her couch. Not only that, but Logan decides they should spend the night. Why would you feel safe enough to sleep in a potential enemy’s house – someone who may have played a part in your child’s disappearance?

Unfortunately, this story just wasn’t for me. My thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC. for the opportunity to read and review Untouchable by Cindy Skaggs.

Everyone really wants to like some books. This was one for me. I really wanted to like this book. Especially because it has a mafia/mob factor in the story. But it just never really captived me in a way that I wanted to keep going.

I like suspense books quite a lot so when I found Untouchable I really liked how it sounded. But when I got to the 5o% mark, I couldn't keep going anymore. Mainly because I felt like it was dragging and I lost interest in the story soon after that.

To be honest, I had hoped for (more) romance in the story. But plotwise speaking, it had a great idea and at the start, I was intrigued by the things happening in the book and I wanted to know more. An FBI agent and a former wife of a crime lord? Yes, sign me up. But like I said, the story never really got anywhere for me? It was just one road to the end and it never felt like it could curve or have bumps in that said road.

I was very intrigued with the opening of Untouchable, but I felt like after that it took a bit too long for the plot to gain substance. It took a while to figure out what exactly was going on, who Sofia was, and what the problems she faced were. This made it a bit difficult for me to feel a connection with her for the first part of the story. Once things got going though, Cindy really picked up the pace and the suspense of Untouchable.

Against the odds, Sofia and Logan come together. Soon they are in a race against time to find Sofia's son, and at the same time battling an intense desire for one another. Both of these characters were strong willed, so it was interesting to follow along with them. Logan is protective and determined to help Sofia, despite the conflicts he faces. Sofia is scared, but strong and brave, and does not want Logan's help. I liked these two but I didn't feel a strong connection to them.

The plot is good, and there is a lot going on. I was interested to see how things would end up, especially for Sofia and her son since her ex-husband is a mobster.

Finishing with a faster pace than it started with, I felt ok with the ending of Untouchable

2 1/2 stars. I wanted to like this more than I did. It was fast paced with plenty of action. The plot was decent, but the characters fell flat. I didn’t like or dislike them.

Sophia was cold and distant out of necessity, which didn’t bother me. I didn’t agree with all of her choices. For a woman with trust issues, ditching Logan wasn’t high on her priority list, and I didn’t understand why. The loneliness and isolation she had experienced was expressed well, but the panic and fear of having a child go missing wasn’t. A mother should freak out if her kid was at risk of being killed at any moment, but Sophia was fairly calm about it all. Logan was okay. There wasn’t anything special about him.

The romance lacked passion and chemistry. The instant attraction didn’t make sense since neither of them approved of how the other lived their lives. Plus the romance develops from strangers to love in just a few days. It wasn’t believable.

Okay, when I first saw the cover and read the description of this book I couldn't wait to sit down and read it. The book was a little hard to follow for the first couple of chapters, I felt like I was missing something or that this was a continuation to a series. Once I was finally able to decipher what was going on the book was just alright. There was some suspense and some romance but neither one was very overwhelming. I had such high hopes for this book but unfortunately for me the book just didn't do the description justice.

I received this book compliments of the publisher via NetGalley for my honest review and opinion. All ratings and opinions stated are my own.

This is Sophia Capri's story. She is the ex-wife of a mob boss. They have a son together who early on in the book is kidnapped. Said crime boss Nicky, blames Sophia and she blames him. In the meantime she has accidently met an FBI agent who becomes entangled with all the mess of kidnapping as he has been watching Sophia as a person of interest. Always characters pull me in but so did this story. Is a trip of deceit and pain as they try to discover who took the child and how to gwt him back. Characters to love and hate. Will hopefully be a sequel to this mess. Thanx to Goodreads and Cindy Skaggs. Enjoyable read.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley/Entangled Publishing for an honest review. "Untouchable" by Cindy Skaggs is a good read. You get mystery, suspense, and a little romance. Sofia, ex-wife of a mobster, and Logan, FBI agent, end up on the run trying to find her son. This book is more a mystery or suspense book than a romance. The writer keeps you on the edge of your seat because you don't know who Sofia can trust. There was definitely chemistry between Sofia and Logan which was evident in several steamy scenes. All in all a good read.
