For years I have eagerly devoured books by or about Corrie ten Boom, so finding a new-to-me author and perspective is always exciting. Ellen de Kroon Stamps spent nearly ten years traveling with Corrie as her assistant and secretary, and she shares some of her experiences in My Years with Corrie. This book is a simple recounting of memories and lessons learned, but I loved seeing another glimpse into Corrie’s life. She tells of how Corrie intentionally looked for ways to serve others when she was faced with her own physical pain or difficulty, and there are countless examples of Corrie’s constant efforts at sharing the Gospel with those around her. My second big takeaway was a prayer shared with Ellen by Marj Saint, widow of missionary Nate Saint: “Lord, prepare me for what you are preparing for me.”
