Ever remember being told to PAY ATTENTION to the details? Imagine Dev’s shock to find that Dr. “Michael” Peterson was actually Dr. Michaela Peterson AND she was his dream goddess, come to life. Is life having a good laugh at his expense?

Trust doesn’t come easy for the headstrong doctor, and the news Dev brings is far from easy to swallow, but the Hellhounds are leaving a bloody path of death and she may be next. Gear up, we are heading into a world of danger, fantasy, romance and survival as Dev tries to keep his goddess alive, in spite of herself.

Once again, Lyn Horner showcases her unique style, infusing intrigue and the psychic call of one heart to another, creating another tale that begs to be savored cover to cover. Spiced with humor, great dialogue and character personalities that cross the line of “make believe” to become living and breathing people, this romantic tale holds its own sparkle as Ms. Horner and Decoding Michaela lead us through a dark maze on a race to stay alive, and keep evil at bay. A quick read that never lets up its entertainment value! Stick in that beach bag next to the sunscreen, order an umbrella drink and enjoy!

Dev and Michaela's story is one that will sweep you into a whirlwind romance. He steps in to protect her from Hell hounds who seek an ancient scroll from her as one of the Guardians. He's also been dreaming about a woman who turns out to be the one he should protect.
The story is short and the pace is steady and then picks up immediately towards the end and then slowly pans out.
It was a good afternoon read, I enjoyed it.
I'm grateful to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for giving me a free copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Decoding Michaela by Lyn Horner

It has been over a year since I read Rescuing Lara but it took me no time at all to get back into the story. Dev Medina has offered his assistance in locating Dr. Peterson, since it was his knowledge that helped decode the book Lara had secured from her uncle. Dev has a personal mission, aside from alerting Dr. Peterson to the danger that has developed, as he heads to the Galveston coast. Dev has prophetic dreams, and he was sure he would find the girl from those dreams in the area.

Ms. Horner was clever in the way she plotted this story. Dev is a strong, overpowering character who doesn’t do subtle. This doesn’t work in his favor when he is pitted against an intelligent, independent woman who refuses to be pushed around. Dev has to learn to temper his ways to convince Michaela he is there to help her and is looking out for her best interests. However, I don’t think it served the story well that Michaela withholds using her powers of insight during most of the book. As a result, I didn’t feel like Decoding Michaela carried the same level of tension as Rescuing Lara had, until the climax.

I did find Michaela’s story heart-rending and I melted as she developed a relationship with Dev. The ending was satisfying as Dev and Michaela make their way west into Navajo country to meet up with Lara and Conn. There, future plans are made to locate the other guardians. This is going to be a fascinating series and I am looking forward to meeting the other guardians.

FYI: Decoding Michaela is book two in Lyn Horner’s Romancing the Guardians series, following Rescuing Lara. I would recommend reading this series in order. This book does contain sexual situations that may offend some. **Originally written for "BigAl’s Books and Pals" book blog. May have received a free review copy.** August 15, 2016

This is the second book in the series and it did not disappoint. I enjoy how the stories are brought together and the interaction between the characters. The way that Danu and Michaela meet and the troubles that follow make this an exciting read. I am going to read the rest of the series and cheer for an awesome conclusion to everything. This is a fast paranormal romance read that does not disappoint. Thank you NetGalley and Lyn Horner for allowing me to read this book and write a honest review.

Decoding Michaela is another interesting PNR story that kept nicely with the theme of the series and followed on perfectly from book one.

Dev and Michaela are intriguing characters and their story tells a captivating tale of the evil that is unseen but ever present. I really enjoyed their story and look forward to what the author has planned next!

The Guardian Series Continues/Drawing You In

Excellent second book in Guardian Series. Hunky hero falls for Golden Goddess, and the sparks fly. Thriller action is ratcheted up, and it's hard to put the book down, wondering what will happen next? The plot thickens and the characters are engaging. Can't wait to start third book.

*I received this book on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review* Decoding Michaela written by Lyn Horner is the second installment in a short book series. From the first page, we pick up immediately we're the previous novella left off with Dev Medina, an ex code breaker, attempting to track down one of the mystical Guardians entrusted with protecting an ancient scroll prophecy that could alter the world as we know it. When Dev finally finds the Guardian, Dr. Peterson, he finds himself getting more entwined with a secret group called the Hellhounds bent on destroying the Guardians and taking over the world. Added on to that, through the help of Dr. Peterson, Medina discovers a secret about his own Irish family tree. Will Medina succeed in saving the Guardian he was assigned to protect? Are his dreams being caused by his Druid ancestors to help him save the world, or by the sinister forces trying to find each Guardian? Horner paints a delicious tale of magic and paranormal romance to make readers enthralled in this story of fate and destiny.
