I just had the best sex of my life with New York's most eligible playboy bachelor, billionaire Preston Easterbrook. There are only three problems. #1: He's my brother's best friend. #2: I can't stand the man, and he can't stand me either. #3: I'm pregnant now and the baby is his. Actually, make that four problems. After I told Preston he was going to be a dad, he chased me down on the street and proposed marriage. Unfortunately, the paparazzi were there too. I fell during all the commotion, hit my head, and now I can't remember anything. When I wake up with amnesia, I'm being cared for by the New York's sexiest bachelor. Supposedly I hated this guy, but I can't figure out why. He's strong and successful. He's loving and patient. He treats me like I'm the only girl he's ever wanted. Was I too blind to see it all these years, or is there something really big I'm forgetting? Maybe it's best if I don't remember. There's a wedding coming up, and I don't want this fairy tale to end.

A great read. Set with a speedy pace this book did not disappoint. There were several grammatical errors that set me back and made me reread those particular passages several times over that any publisher should have been able to spot; nevertheless, the heroine in the book and billionaire are true to this typical type of book. I love that both characters were developed; yet, I would have loved to have more in depth description of the heroine's physical description for example, the book stated she was a big woman, there were not specifics on her physical physique. I could not visual her look in my mind which would have made the book more interesting if I were able to envision her.
This is my first book by this author. I do intend to read more of her stories which are on Kindle Unlimited.
This is Preston and Tachell's story. I really enjoyed the premises of the story and enjoyed the couple. The real reason why Tachell hated Preston I did not see coming. I wish there had been more dialogue between the couple but other that I enjoyed the story.
This was a very interesting story. For most of it I was trying to figure out why Tachell could not love Preston or what he did that was so bad, then I find out! The twists and turns were nicely placed in this story and it kept me on the edge throughout the entire story. The pace was fast but not overly quick and I didn't find to many distracting holes or grammar mistakes. This is the second book by Imani King that I have read and I look forward to reading more stories by her!
This story was full of surprises and laughs. Rachel was smart mouth and didn't take crap from anyone especially from her brother's best friend Preston. Preston has been in love with his best friend Reggie's twin sister since second grade. He just went about it the wrong way to show her. No one was ever good enough for her in his eyes. When Tachell finds out her ex boyfriend cheated on her she ran into the arms of Preston and that one night led to her getting pregnant. When she thought she would just run in his and tell him she's pregnant she never realized he would be happy and propose on the spot. After all they hated each other. Didn't they? If she was ever honest with herself she knew that she has always loved him secretly as he did her. Since she was an artist he would buy her paintings without her knowing and hang them around his building, his apartment anywhere he wanted to feel her. Did I mention he was a billionaire? He once brought her building and evicted her so that she would leave her no good boyfriend. This book is hilarious but romantic. A really good read
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Tachell Jones is an up and coming artist who just happened to have a one-night stand with her nemesis and brother’s best friend, Preston Easterbrook. What happens after she tells Preston of the consequences of that fateful night is truly the stuff of fiction!
I can’t say all the reasons why I loved this book without giving away spoilers, but I absolutely loved Tachell. Her internal monologues were hilarious. I don’t know if Miss King meant for them to be funny, but it has been a long time since a book has made me laugh so hard. I did feel sorry for Preston because it was obvious that he really cared for Tachell but she had trouble letting go of his past bad deeds when he was young and dumb. As for Tachell, she’s a little harsh, funny and very introspective. It’s that introspective view that made me like her.
For me, The Billionaire’s Reluctant Bride was refreshing read. I’ve re-read it a couple of times and still found it as an enjoyable as the first time.
I have to admit, I wasn't expecting a whole lot from this book. Titles in this genre tend to have great premises, but never seem to live up to the hype. That is why I am happy to say I was pleasantly surprised. Ms. King has a way with words that is both engaging and yards above other BWWM books I have read.
Tachelle is a very talented artist who has found herself pregnant by her boss's best friend/boss after a one night stand. Then, to make matters worse, she hits her head after running from her baby's father and ends up with amnesia.
This begins an interesting series of events that keeps the story going from beginning to end. I would recommend this title to anyone who likes these types of romances. The only thing keeping it from being a full 5 star review is the fact that it was a little lacking in secondary character development. The best friend in particular was a treasure trove of drama just waiting to be dived into and it ended up being a missed opportunity.
The characters would have been interesting if they had been better developed, and the story had promise but was also underdeveloped. Using the secondary characters to add layers and tension to the story would have helped...everything just seemed to happen or we were just "told" without the joy of the read discovering it as if on a journey. Maybe this is why I started skipping pages less than half way into the book.
Tachell and Preston have known each other since grade school and they are crushing on each other, their feelings remain even into their adulthood. He says nothing to her about his feelings but tries manipulate her life to keep other men away. She likes him but denies her feelings and is hiding a secret about an encounter between them that took place years before in high school. A one night stand and a case of amnesia changes everything for Tachell and Preston.
I have never laughed, cheered, cried and sighed as much as I have with this story. This is an old-fashioned romance done with a modern day twist. This is such a well written story that has been thought out to its fullest. The writer captures the feelings of the main characters and supporting characters so well you get the feeling you are a participant. This is an enjoyable story that makes you feel good till the end.
And it won't be the last. I really enjoyed this book. The main characters, Tachell and Preston were so likable, and the supporting characters were well developed. Also the book was well written, and had the bonus of an epilogue. I can definitely recommend this one and I'll be looking for more titles by Imani King.
Love is stronger than pride . She was an honest person yet she couldn't tell him why she couldn't let him get close to her even though he could feel her attraction for him too. Sometimes pride is just fear of facing the truth of a situation.
This was just ok for me. I think this book has the potential to be something good, but the characters really seemed one dimensional to me and weren’t developed enough to carry the story.
The book is told entirely from Tachell’s point of view and since she has amnesia 90% of the book, I don’t really get her relationships with the other characters. Because she has no feelings one way or the other for them, neither do I. Preston is the only one she’s lusting for and tethered to, but even that feels insincere. The “evil” mother-n-law, who miraculously loves her now after witnessing a few girls bullying her just didn’t sit right. It was too easy. The best friend, brother, and mom who knew part of why she didn’t like Preston (which actually was a legitimate gripe) kept that from her for no apparent reason other than. “well that’s just Preston looking out for you.” Then when she gains her memory back and remembers the real reason she should’t marry this man, it was kind of a let down. That she was harboring that much hate just didn’t pass the smell test.
There were also some grammatical and spelling errors that had me re-reading a few paragraphs just to make sure I understood what was going on. Nothing to major, but a nuisance none the less.
To the author please hire an editor. I am tired of haranguing about this. When people pay hard earned money for a source of entertainment the least an author can do you is give us a clean read. Now for the story Tachel sleeps with Preston becomes pregnant when she tells him his reaction is unexpected. He proposes she hits her head get amnesia. They now have a do over.
This was much easer read than the first one i read from this author. Still not quite taken with the writing. The story is very similar but not quite the same in both books i read. Billionaires in love and obsessed with heroines from their Youth... both arrogant asses and manwhores... like not having the woman of your dreams is an excuse to sleep with half the city... Anyway short read, fast, not much side plot. Has some views from the past. Pretty literal.
All I can say is I hated this book. So glad I did not pay for it. That scene at her baby shower, I’m sorry but what the fuck was that. And the ending, he did the most horrible thing a person could do and you forgive and forget. This story was utter bullshit and not even worth the one star. Not only that but it lacks in so many ways plot, characters development and changing into scenes couldn’t be more confusing as well. I would recommend proof reading before publishing.
3.00 stars. This song came to mind after reading the chapter that revealed an encounter between Tachell Jones and Preston Easterbrook: "misty watercolor memories"... in watercoloring, a strong hue diffuses to very pale on wet paper, this action simulates the event between them, it was major to her and should have been for the both of them, but he has no memory of it because he was drunk. .."scattered pictures of the smiles we gave to one another"... They loved one another but never acknowledged it to each other. I would not say she hated him and it was clear that he acted at out of jealousy envy when he did the things he did. The plot of the story was good; but how she got amnesia and their lack of dialog made the storyline wonder and leave more questions than it answered.
Love conquers all! But it was entertaining and kept me wishing why can't this happen to me! I loved all the characters in this story. They all fit in with the story line her best friend Sondra, Kate, Priscilla the rich mother and of course her Mother was her champion! I love the bother Reggie and of course Preston who was her soul mate from the beginning and she did not know it! He knew he loved her but did not know how to show it, she knew it but was afraid to claim it! I love the amnesia storyline it bought everything to the head if not that I do not think they would have gotten together. This slowed things down and made Tachell Let him in as a husband, but then maybe she would have because she did love him! Fighting the attraction will wear you down eventually!
This is quite a different story. I will tell you upfront you have to keep reading the story it starts off very fast . Sometimes I dislike the store because it went back to the past and then came back to the present. This is a story about a man named Preston who had a crush on a young lady by the name of Tachelll doing their time in school and it carried over to their adulthood . All I can say one night stand turned into something totally different. All we can say is memories sometimes come back to haunt us.
Chose this book due to high ratings, I figured since I'd already read one book by this author maybe this one would turn it around for me. Nope. There were so many errors in this book I don't know how I got through it. Every aspect to tell the story, this book lacked. Plot, character development, setting, grammar, etc. I would recommend this author get a few beta readers that are not friends or family to give back an honest feedback. The plot has potential it just needs to be thought out and nurtured. Also editors can be your friends.
I did not care for the h in this story. That said I appreciate the story. I think the author finally made her real almost to the end of the book. I think I preferred her with amnesia..much more real than when she was pretending to so strong, I am woman hear me roar. And also, she was not very likable when she was playing the H when she knew that he cared for her and she told him who she was smexing...not nice..not cool. A woman who claims to be so strong should understand her motivations.
Just ok. I was looking for more romance and less arguments. This book didn't leave me wit the have feeling . The heroine was stupid. The man was weak. The story had the makings to be great but that got lost in the off and on arguments that consumed the story. If she wasn't drugging up the past about here fiance she was pulling up neg about old boy friends. I wish I could get my money b ack
Bad story needed more work the author needed to remember this is a Romance not a drama full of horrible incidence s
I seem to be falling on a hit and miss with this author. This book is not a total miss but my in between. I love the main characters and when they are together its a good read but other than that the story seems to be lacking(proof reading couldn't have gone amiss also). I guess I was just expecting more.
